Failure of the Lefschetz property for the Graphic Matroid
We consider the strong Lefschetz property for standard graded Artinian Gorenstein algebras. Such an algebra has a presentation of the quotient algebra of the ring of the differential polynomials modulo the annihilator of some homogeneous polynomial. There is a characterization of the strong Lefschetz property for such an algebra by the non-degeneracy of the higher Hessian matrix of the homogeneous polynomial. Maeno and Numata conjectured that if such an algebra is defined by the basis generating polynomial of any matroid, then it has the strong Lefschetz property. For this conjecture, we give counterexamples that are associated with graphic matroids. We prove the degeneracy of the higher Hessian matrix by constructing a non-zero element in the kernel of that matrix.
Graph colouring and Steenrod's problem for Stanley-Reisner rings
It is a classical problem in algebraic topology asked by Steenrod which graded rings occur as the cohomology ring of a space.
In this paper, we define an algebraic version of the graph colouring, span colouring, and observe the relation between span colourings and Steenrod's problem for graded Stanley-Reisner rings, in other words polynomial rings divided by an ideal generated by square-free monic monomials.
Symmetry of ascent and descent distributions on rectangular and staircase tableaux
We give direct bijective proofs of the symmetry of the distributions of the number of ascents and descents over standard Young tableaux of shape $λ$, where $λ$ is a rectangle $(n,n,\dots,n)$ or a truncated staircase $(n,n-1,\dots,n-k+1)$. These can be viewed as instances of the more general symmetry of the distribution of descents over linear extensions of graded posets, for which previous proofs by Stanley and Farley were based on the theory of $P$-partitions and the involution principle, respectively. In the case of two-row rectangles $(n,n)$, our bijection is equivalent to the Lalanne--Kreweras involution on Dyck paths, which bijectively proves the symmetry of the Narayana numbers.
Our bijections are defined in terms of certain arrow encodings of standard Young tableaux. This setup allows us to construct other statistic-preserving involutions on tableaux of rectangular shape, providing a simple proof of the fact that ascents and descents are equidistributed up to a shift, and proving a conjecture of Sulanke about certain statistics in the case of three rows. Finally, we use our bijections to define a possible notion of rowmotion on standard Young tableaux of rectangular shape, and to give a bijective proof of the symmetry of the number of descents on canon permutations, which have been recently studied as a variation of Stirling and quasi-Stirling permutations.

We study positivity and probabilistic properties arising from the Young--Fibonacci lattice $\mathbb{YF}$, a 1-differential poset on binary (Fibonacci) words of 1's and 2's, graded by digit sum. Building on Okada's theory of clone Schur functions (Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 346 (1994), 549--568), we define clone coherent measures on $\mathbb{YF}$ that generate random Fibonacci words of increasing length; unlike for the Young lattice (powered by the classical Schur functions), clone coherent measures are generally not extremal on $\mathbb{YF}$.
Our first main result is a complete characterization of Fibonacci positive specializations -- parameter sequences which yield positive clone Schur functions on $\mathbb{YF}$. Second, we connect Fibonacci positivity with: (i) total positivity of tridiagonal matrices; (ii) Stieltjes moment sequences; (iii) the combinatorics of set partitions; and (iv) families of univariate orthogonal polynomials from the (q-)Askey scheme. We further link moment sequences of orthogonal polynomials to combinatorial structures on Fibonacci words, a connection that may be of independent interest. Third, we analyze scaling limits of the induced random words, obtaining stick-breaking-type limits (linked to GEM laws), new dependent stick-breaking limits, and limits supported on the discrete part of the Martin boundary of $\mathbb{YF}$. These results significantly extend the asymptotics of the Plancherel measure on $\mathbb{YF}$ proved by Gnedin--Kerov (Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 129 (2000), 433--446).
Finally, we prove Cauchy-type identities for clone Schur functions with quadridiagonal-determinant right-hand side (in contrast to the product form for classical Schur functions), and construct models of random permutations and involutions from Fibonacci-positive specializations together with a Robinson--Schensted correspondence adapted to $\mathbb{YF}$.
A note on the log-concavity of parking functions
We settle a conjecture of Bóna regarding the log-concavity of a certain statistic on parking functions by utilizing recent log-concavity results on matroids. This result allows us to also prove that connected, labeled graphs graded by their number of edges are log-concave. Furthermore, we generalize these results to $G$-parking functions.

The graded Möbius algebra of a matroid is a commutative graded algebra which encodes the combinatorics of the lattice of flats of the matroid. As a special subalgebra of the augmented Chow ring of the matroid, it plays an important role in the recent proof of the Dowling-Wilson Top Heavy Conjecture. Recently, Mastroeni and McCullough proved that the Chow ring and the augmented Chow ring of a matroid are Koszul. We study when graded Möbius algebras are Koszul. We characterize the Koszul graded Möbius algebras of cycle matroids of graphs in terms of properties of the graphs. Our results yield a new characterization of strongly chordal graphs via edge orderings.
Young diagrams, deformed Calogero-Moser systems and Cayley graphs
Let ${\mathtt{k}}$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and $n, m$ coprime positive integers. Let ${\stackrel{\rm o}{\mathfrak{g}}}$ be the Lie superalgebra ${\mathfrak{gl}}(n|m)$ with root system $Δ$. Using $Δ$, Sergeev and Veselov, \cite{SV2} introduced an action of the Weyl groupoid ${\mathcal{W}}$, in connection with their study of the the Grothendieck group of finite dimensinonal graded $\mathfrak{g}$-modules. We denote the subgroupoid of ${\mathcal{W}}$ with morphisms corresponding to isotropic roots by $\mathfrak T_{iso}$.
Later, \cite{SV101} the same authors defined an action of ${\mathcal{W}}$ on $X={\mathtt{k}}^{n|m}$ such that the invariant algebra ${\mathcal{O}}(X)^{\mathcal{W}}$ is isomorphic to the algebra of quantum integrals for the deformed Calogero-Moser system introduced in \cite{SV1}. This completely integrable system depends on a non-zero parameter $κ$. When $κ=-m/n$ we study a certain infinite $\mathfrak T_{iso}$-orbit {\bf O} for this action. %which appears in \cite{SV101} Equation (14). The Cayley graph for this orbit is isomorphic to the Cayley graphs for two other actions of $\mathfrak T_{iso}$ which were studied in \cite{M23}.
A Hopf algebra generalization of the symmetric functions in partially commutative variables
The quasisymmetric functions, $QSym$, are generalized for a finite alphabet $A$ by the colored quasisymmetric functions, $QSym_A$, in partially commutative variables. Their dual, $NSym_A$, generalizes the noncommutative symmetric functions, $NSym$, through a relationship with a Hopf algebra of trees. We define an algebra $Sym_A$, contained within $QSym_A$, that is isomorphic to the symmetric functions, $Sym$, when $A$ is an alphabet of size one. We show that $Sym_A$ is a Hopf algebra and define its graded dual, $PSym_A$, which is the commutative image of $NSym_A$ and also generalizes $Sym$. The seven algebras listed here can be placed in a commutative diagram connected by Hopf morphisms. In addition to defining generalizations of the classic bases of the symmetric functions to $Sym_A$ and $PSym_A$, we describe multiplication, comultiplication, and the antipode in terms of a basis for both algebras. We conclude by defining a pair of dual bases that generalize the Schur functions and listing open questions.

A new combinatorial object, called generalised nice set, is classified up to collineations of the Fano plane. This classification is necessary to find the graded contractions of all the exceptional complex Lie algebras of dimension at least 52, endowed with $\mathbb Z_2^3$-gradings coming from the octonions. Our classification is of purely combinatorial nature.
Fixed points of reverse Hessenberg convolution varieties
Associated to any unit interval graph, Syu Kato introduced a variety which gives (via the geometric Satake correspondence) a graded $GL_m$ representation whose character is the chromatic quasisymmetric polynomial of the graph. In this short note, we reprove Kato's result by analyzing the fixed points of his varieties.

In this article, we establish the relations between a sandpile graph, its sandpile monoid and the weighted Leavitt path algebra associated with it. Namely, we show that the lattice of all idempotents of the sandpile monoid $\text{SP}(E)$ of a sandpile graph $E$ is both isomorphic to the lattice of all nonempty saturated hereditary subsets of $E$, the lattice of all order-ideals of $\text{SP}(E)$ and the lattice of all ideals of the weighted Leavitt path algebra $L_{K}(E, ω)$ generated by vertices. Also, we describe the sandpile group of a sandpile graph $E$ via archimedean classes of $\text{SP}(E)$, and prove that all maximal subgroups of $\text{SP}(E)$ are exactly the Grothendieck groups of these archimedean classes. Finally, we give the structure of the Leavitt path algebra $L_{K}(E)$ of a sandpile graph $E$ via a finite chain of graded ideals being invariant under every graded automorphism of $L_{K}(E)$, and completely describe the structure of $L_{K}(E)$ such that the lattice of all idempotents of $\text{SP}(E)$ is a chain. Consequently, we completely describe the structure of the weighted Leavitt path algebra of a sandpile graph $E$ such that $\text{SP}(E)$ has exactly two idempotents.
Partial Betti splittings with applications to binomial edge ideals

We introduce the notion of a partial Betti splitting of a homogeneous ideal, generalizing the notion of a Betti splitting first given by Francisco, Hà, and Van Tuyl. Given a homogeneous ideal $I$ and two ideals $J$ and $K$ such that $I = J+K$, a partial Betti splitting of $I$ relates some of the graded Betti of $I$ with those of $J, K$, and $J\cap K$. As an application, we focus on the partial Betti splittings of binomial edge ideals. Using this new technique, we generalize results of Saeedi Madani and Kiani related to binomial edge ideals with cut edges, we describe a partial Betti splitting for all binomial edge ideals, and we compute the total second Betti number of binomial edge ideals of trees.
Undecidability of the elementary theory of Young--Fibonacci lattice
For a poset $(P,\leqslant)$ we consider the first-order theory, that is defined by set $P$ and relation $\leqslant$. The problem of undecidability of combinatorial theories attracts significant attention. Recently A. Wires proved the undecidability of the elementary theory of Young lattice and also established the maximal definability property of this theory. The purpose of this article is to obtain the same results for another graded lattice, which has much in common with Young lattice: Young--Fibonacci lattice. As Wires does for Young lattice, for the proof of undecidability we define Arithmetic into this theory.

We associate a sequence of positive integers, termed the type sequence, with a cochordal graph. Using this type sequence, we compute all graded Betti numbers of its edge ideal. We then classify all positive integer $n$ such that the zero divisor graph of $\mathbb{Z}/n \mathbb{Z}$ is cochordal and determine all the graded Betti numbers of its edge ideal.
The Group Cohomology of Peroidized Hypertoric Variety
To a graph $Γ$, one can associate a hypertoric variety $\mathcal{M}(Γ)$ and its multiplicative version $\mathcal{M}^{\mathrm{mul}}(Γ)$. It was shown in [DMS24] that the cohomology of $\mathcal{M}^{\mathrm{mul}}(Γ)$ is computed by the CKS complex, which is a finite dimensional complex attached to $Γ$. The multiplicative hypertoric variety can be realized as the quotient of a periodized hypertoric variety by a lattice action. In this paper, we show that the group cohomology of the lattice with coefficients in the cohomology of the prequotient is isomorphic to the cohomology of the CKS complex using a spectral sequence argument. Therefore, the group cohomology can serve as an alternative way to compute the cohomology of multiplicative hypertoric varieties.
We also found graph-theoretic descriptions for the Euler characteristics of the graded pieces in a certain decomposition of $\mathrm{H}^\bullet(\mathcal{M}^{\mathrm{mul}}(Γ))$.
Chow functions for partially ordered sets
Three decades ago, Stanley and Brenti initiated the study of the Kazhdan--Lusztig--Stanley (KLS) functions, putting on common ground several polynomials appearing in algebraic combinatorics, discrete geometry, and representation theory. In the present paper we develop a theory that parallels the KLS theory. To each kernel in a given poset, we associate a polynomial function that we call the \emph{Chow function}. The Chow function often exhibits remarkable properties, and sometimes encodes the graded dimensions of a cohomology or Chow ring. The framework of Chow functions provides natural polynomial analogs of graded module decompositions that appear in algebraic geometry, but that work for arbitrary posets, even when no graded module decomposition is known to exist. In this general framework, we prove a number of unimodality and positivity results without relying on versions of the Hard Lefschetz theorem. Our framework shows that there is an unexpected relation between positivity and real-rootedness conjectures about chains on face lattices of polytopes by Brenti and Welker, Hilbert--Poincaré series of matroid Chow rings by Ferroni and Schröter, and flag enumerations on Bruhat intervals of Coxeter groups by Billera and Brenti.
The monoid representation of upho posets and total positivity
We show that all totally positive formal power series with integer coefficients and constant term $1$ are precisely the rank-generating functions of Schur-positive upho posets, thereby resolving the main conjecture proposed by Gao, Guo, Seetharaman, and Seidel. To achieve this, we construct a bijection between finitary colored upho posets and atomic, left-cancellative, invertible-free monoids, which restricts to a correspondence between $\mathbb{N}$-graded colored upho posets and left-cancellative homogeneous monoids. Furthermore, we introduce semi-upho posets and develop a convolution operation on colored upho posets with colored semi-upho posets within this monoid-theoretic framework.
A charge monomial basis of the Garsia-Procesi ring

We construct a basis of the Garsia-Procesi ring using the catabolizability type of standard Young tableaux and the charge statistic. This basis turns out to be equal to the descent basis defined in Carlsson-Chou (2024+). Our new construction connects the combinatorics of the basis with the well-known combinatorial formula for the modified Hall-Littlewood polynomials $\tilde{H}_μ[X;q]$, due to Lascoux, which expresses the polynomials as a sum over standard tableaux that satisfy a catabolizability condition. In addition, we prove that identifying a basis for the antisymmetric part of $R_μ$ with respect to a Young subgroup $S_γ$ is equivalent to finding pairs of standard tableaux that satisfy conditions regarding catabolizability and descents. This gives an elementary proof of the fact that the graded Frobenius character of $R_μ$ is given by the catabolizability formula for $\tilde{H}_μ[X;q]$.

We obtain a complete characterization of the space of matrix elements dual to the graded multiplicity space arising from fusion products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over special twisted current algebras defined by Kus and Venkatesh, which generalizes the result of Ardonne and Kedem to the special twisted current algebras. We also prove the conjectural identity of $q$-graded fermionic sums by Hatayama et al. for the special twisted current algebras, from which we deduce that the graded tensor product multiplicities of the fusion products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over special twisted current algebras are both given by the $q$-graded fermionic sums, and constant term evaluations of products of solutions of the quantum twisted $Q$-systems obtained by Di Francesco and Kedem.
Eigenvectors of the De Bruijn Graph Laplacian: A Natural Basis for the Cut and Cycle Space
We study the Laplacian of the undirected De Bruijn graph over an alphabet $A$ of order $k$. While the eigenvalues of this Laplacian were found in 1998 by Delorme and Tillich [1], an explicit description of its eigenvectors has remained elusive. In this work, we find these eigenvectors in closed form and show that they yield a natural and canonical basis for the cut- and cycle-spaces of De Bruijn graphs. Remarkably, we find that the cycle basis we construct is a basis for the cycle space of both the undirected and the directed De Bruijn graph. This is done by developing an analogue of the Fourier transform on the De Bruijn graph, which acts to diagonalize the Laplacian. Moreover, we show that the cycle-space of De Bruijn graphs, when considering all possible orders of $k$ simultaneously, contains a rich algebraic structure, that of a graded Hopf algebra.
