NCS Systems over Differential Operator Algebras and the Grossman-Larson Hopf Algebras of Labeled Rooted Trees
Let $K$ be any unital commutative $\bQ$-algebra and $W$ any non-empty subset of $\bN^+$. Let $z=(z_1, ..., z_n)$ be commutative or noncommutative free variables and $t$ a formal central parameter. % Denote uniformly by $\kzz$ and $\kttzz$ the formal power series algebras % of $z$ over $K$ and $K[[t]]$, respectively. Let $\cDazz$ $(α\geq 1)$ be the unital algebra generated by the differential operators of $\kzz$ which increase the degree in $z$ by at least $α-1$ and $ \ataz $ the group of automorphisms $F_t(z)=z-H_t(z)$ of $\kttzz$ with $o(H_t(z))\geq α$ and $H_{t=0}(z)=0$. First, we study a connection of the \cNcs systems $Ω_{F_t}$ $(F_t\in \ataz)$ (\cite{GTS-I}, \cite{GTS-II}) over the differential operators algebra $\cDazz$ and the \cNcs system $Ω_\bT^W$ (\cite{GTS-IV}) over the Grossman-Larson Hopf algebra $\cH_{GL}^W$ (\cite{GL}, \cite{F1}, \cite{F2}) of $W$-labeled rooted trees. We construct a Hopf algebra homomorphism $\mathcal A_{F_t}: \cH_{GL}^W \to \cDazz$ $(F_t\in \ataz)$ such that $\mathcal A_{F_t}^{\times 5}(Ω_\bT^W) =Ω_{F_t}$. Secondly, we generalize the tree expansion formulas for the inverse map (\cite{BCW}, \cite{Wr3}), the D-Log and the formal flow (\cite{WZ}) of $F_t$ in the commutative case to the noncommutative case. Thirdly, we prove the injectivity of the specialization $\cT:{\mathcal N}Sym \to \cH_{GL}^{\bN^+}$ (\cite{GTS-IV}) of NCSF's (noncommutative symmetric functions) (\cite{G-T}). Finally, we show the family of the specializations $\cS_{F_t}$ of NCSF's with all $n\geq 1$ and the polynomial automorphisms $F_t=z-H_t(z)$ with $H_t(z)$ homogeneous and the Jacobian matrix $JH_t$ strictly lower triangular can distinguish any two different NCSF's. The graded dualized versions of the main results above are also discussed.

In this paper we study the partially ordered set Q^J of cells in Rietsch's cell decomposition of the totally nonnegative part of an arbitrary flag variety P^J_{\geq 0}. Our goal is to understand the geometry of P^J_{\geq 0}: Lusztig has proved that this space is contractible, but it is unknown whether the closure of each cell is contractible, and whether P^J_{\geq 0} is homeomorphic to a ball. The order complex |Q^J| is a simplicial complex which can be thought of as a combinatorial approximation of P^J_{\geq 0}. Using combinatorial tools such as Bjorner's EL-labellings and Dyer's reflection orders, we prove that Q^J is graded, thin and EL-shellable. As a corollary, we deduce that Q^J is Eulerian and that the Euler characteristic of the closure of each cell is 1. Additionally, our results imply that |Q^J| is homeomorphic to a ball, and moreover, that Q^J is the face poset of some regular CW complex homeomorphic to a ball.

Let R=k[x_1,...,x_n] be a polynomial ring over a field k. Let J={j_1,...,j_t} be a subset of [n]={1,...,n}, and let m_J denote the ideal (x_{j_1},...,x_{j_t}) of R. Given subsets J_1,...,J_s of [n] and positive integers a_1,...,a_s, we study ideals of the form I=m_{J_1}^{a_1} \cap ... \cap m_{J_s}^{a_s}. These ideals arise naturally, for example, in the study of fat points, tetrahedral curves, and Alexander duality of squarefree monomial ideals. Our main focus is determining when ideals of this form are componentwise linear. Using polymatroidality, we prove that I is always componentwise linear when s <= 3 or when J_i \cup J_j = [n] for all i \neq j. When s >= 4, we give examples to show that I may or may not be componentwise linear. We apply these results to ideals of small sets of general fat points in multiprojective space, and we extend work of Fatabbi, Lorenzini, Valla, and the first author by computing the graded Betti numbers in the s=2 case. Since componentwise linear ideals satisfy the Multiplicity Conjecture of Herzog, Huneke, and Srinivasan when char(k)=0, our work also yields new cases in which this conjecture holds.

In this paper we complete the proof of the X=K conjecture, that for every family of nonexceptional affine algebras, the graded multiplicities of tensor products of symmetric power Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules known as one-dimensional sums, have a large rank stable limit X that has a simple expression (called the K-polynomial) as nonnegative integer combination of Kostka-Foulkes polynomials. We consider a subfamily of Lusztig's q-analogues of weight multiplicity which we call stable KL polynomials and denote by KL. We give a type-independent proof that K=KL. This proves that X=KL: the family of stable one-dimensional sums coincides with family of stable KL polynomials. Our result generalizes the theorem of Nakayashiki and Yamada which establishes the above equality in the case of one-dimensional sums of affine type A and the Lusztig q-analogue of type A, where both are Kostka-Foulkes polynomials.
Homogeneous Buchberger algorithms and Sullivant's computational commutative algebra challenge
We give a variant of the homogeneous Buchberger algorithm for positively graded lattice ideals. Using this algorithm we solve the Sullivant computational commutative algebra challenge.

In this paper, for each graph $G$, we def\mbox{}ine a chain complex of graded modules over the ring of polynomials, whose graded Euler characteristic is equal to the chromatic polynomial of $G$. Furthermore, we def\mbox{}ine a chain complex of doubly-graded modules, whose (doubly) graded Euler characteristic is equal to the dichromatic polynomial of $G$. Both constructions use Koszul complexes, and are similar to the new Khovanov-Rozansky categorif\mbox{}ications of HOMFLYPT polynomial. We also give simplif\mbox{}ied def\mbox{}inition of this triply-graded link homology theory.

After reformulating the representation theory of 0-Hecke algebras in an appropriate family of Yang-Baxter bases, we investigate certain specializations of the Ariki-Koike algebras, obtained by setting q=0 in a suitably normalized version of Shoji's presentation. We classify the simple and projective modules, and describe restrictions, induction products, Cartan invariants and decomposition matrices. This allows us to identify the Grothendieck rings of the towers of algebras in terms of certain graded Hopf algebras known as the Mantaci-Reutenauer descent algebras, and Poirier quasi-symmetric functions. We also describe the Ext-quivers, and conclude with numerical tables.

We show that the Grothendieck bialgebra of the semi-tower of partition lattice algebras is isomorphic to the graded dual of the bialgebra of symmetric functions in noncommutative variables. In particular this isomorphism singles out a canonical new basis of the symmetric functions in noncommutative variables which would be an analogue of the Schur function basis for this bialgebra.
Graph Cohomologies from Arbitrary Algebras
For each commutative, graded algebra with finite dimension in each degree, we construct a graded cohomology theory for graphs whose graded Euler characteristic is the chromatic polynomial of the graph. This extends our previous work which was based on the algebra $\mathbb {Z}[x]/(x^2)$.

For $G$ a finite abelian group, we study the properties of general equivalence relations on $G_n=G^n\rtimes \SG_n$, the wreath product of $G$ with the symmetric group $\SG_n$, also known as the $G$-coloured symmetric group. We show that under certain conditions, some equivalence relations give rise to subalgebras of $\k G_n$ as well as graded connected Hopf subalgebras of $\bigoplus_{n\ge o} \k G_n$. In particular we construct a $G$-coloured peak subalgebra of the Mantaci-Reutenauer algebra (or $G$-coloured descent algebra). We show that the direct sum of the $G$-coloured peak algebras is a Hopf algebra. We also have similar results for a $G$-colouring of the Loday-Ronco Hopf algebras of planar binary trees. For many of the equivalence relations under study, we obtain a functor from the category of finite abelian groups to the category of graded connected Hopf algebras. We end our investigation by describing a Hopf endomorphism of the $G$-coloured descent Hopf algebra whose image is the $G$-coloured peak Hopf algebra. We outline a theory of combinatorial $G$-coloured Hopf algebra for which the $G$-coloured quasi-symmetric Hopf algebra and the graded dual to the $G$-coloured peak Hopf algebra are central objects.

We construct a quotient ring of the ring of diagonal coinvariants of the complex reflection group $W=G(m,p,n)$ and determine its graded character. This generalises a result of Gordon for Coxeter groups. The proof uses a study of category $\cO$ for the rational Cherednik algebra of $W$.

A multi-parafermion basis of states for the Z_k parafermionic models is derived. Its generating function is constructed by elementary steps. It corresponds to the Andrews multiple-sum which enumerates partitions whose parts separated by the distance k-1 differ by at least 2. Two analogous bases are derived for graded parafermions; one of these entails a new expression for their fermionic characters.

We give a formula for the q-characters of arbitrary highest-weight integrable modules of sl_{r+1} as a linear combination of the fermionic q-characters of special fusion products of integrable modules. The coefficients in the sum are entries of the inverse matrix of generalized Kostka polynomials, which are in Z[q^{-1}]. In this paper we prove the relation between the character of the Feigin-Loktev graded tensor product and the generalized Kostka polynomial. We also prove the fermionic formula for the q-characters of the (unrestricted) fusion products of rectangular highest-weight integrable g-modules.

We show that, for an arrangement of subspaces in a complex vector space with geometric intersection lattice, the complement of the arrangement is formal. We prove that the Morgan rational model for such an arrangement complement is formal as a differential graded algebra.
Categorification of the Dichromatic Polynomial for Graphs
For each graph and each positive integer $n$, we define a chain complex whose graded Euler characteristic is equal to an appropriate $n$-specialization of the dichromatic polynomial. This also gives a categorification of $n$-specializations of the Tutte polynomial of graphs. Also, for each graph and integer $n\le 2$, we define the different one variable $n$-specializations of the dichromatic polynomials, and for each polynomial we define graded chain complex whose graded Euler characteristic is equal to that polynomial. Furthermore, we explicitly categorify the specialization of the Tutte polynomial for graphs which corresponds to the Jones polynomial of the appropriate alternating link.
The Lie algebra of cyclic coinvariants of a symplectic space
We exhibit a natural Lie algebra structure on the graded space of cyclic coinvariants of a symplectic vector space.

A class of new type graded infinite posets with minimal element are considered. These so called cobweb posets introduced recently by the present author provide a wide range of new noncommutative prefab combinatorial schema with characteristic graded subposets as primes. The schema are defined here via relaxing commutativity and associativity requirements imposed on the composition of prefabs by the fathers of this fertile concept. The construction and the very first basic properties of cobweb prefabs are pointed out in what follows. An another single valued commutative amd associative composision is also considered.
Splittable ideals and the resolutions of monomial ideals
We provide a new combinatorial approach to study the minimal free resolutions of edge ideals, that is, quadratic square-free monomial ideals. With this method we can recover most of the known results on resolutions of edge ideals with fuller generality, and at the same time, obtain new results. Past investigations on the resolutions of edge ideals usually reduced the problem to computing the dimensions of reduced homology or Koszul homology groups. Our approach circumvents the highly nontrivial problem of computing the dimensions of these groups and turns the problem into combinatorial questions about the associated simple graph. We also show that our technique extends successfully to the study of graded Betti numbers of arbitrary square-free monomial ideals viewed as facet ideals of simplicial complexes.

If \A is a complex hyperplane arrangement, with complement X, we show that the Chen ranks of G=π_1(X) are equal to the graded Betti numbers of the linear strand in a minimal, free resolution of the cohomology ring A=H^*(X,\k), viewed as a module over the exterior algebra E on \A: θ_k(G) = \dim_\k Tor^E_{k-1}(A,\k)_k, where \k is a field of characteristic 0, and k\ge 2. The Chen ranks conjecture asserts that, for k sufficiently large, θ_k(G) =(k-1) \sum_{r\ge 1} h_r \binom{r+k-1}{k}, where h_r is the number of r-dimensional components of the projective resonance variety R^1(\A). Our earlier work on the resolution of A over E and the above equality yield a proof of the conjecture for graphic arrangements. Using results on the geometry of R^1(\A) and a localization argument, we establish the conjectured lower bound for the Chen ranks of an arbitrary arrangement \A. Finally, we show that there is a polynomial P(t) of degree equal to the dimension of R^1(\A), such that θ_k(G) = P(k), for k sufficiently large.
An analogue of distributivity for ungraded lattices

In this paper, we define a property, trimness, for lattices. Trimness is a not-necessarily-graded generalization of distributivity; in particular, if a lattice is trim and graded, it is distributive. Trimness is preserved under taking intervals and suitable sublattices. Trim lattices satisfy a weakened form of modularity. The order complex of a trim lattice is contractible or homotopic to a sphere; the latter holds exactly if the maximum element of the lattice is a join of atoms.
Other than distributive lattices, the main examples of trim lattices are the Tamari lattices and various generalizations of them. We show that the Cambrian lattices in types A and B defined by Reading are trim, and we conjecture that all Cambrian lattices are trim.
