Posh Parking Spaces
Let $W$ be an irreducible complex reflection group with reflection representation $V$. A $W$-stable, faithful homogeneous system of parameters $Θ\subseteq \mathrm{Sym}(V^*)$ of common positive degree $p$ is called a posh hsop; $Θ$ carries a $W$-representation $U$ if $Θ\simeq U$ as ungraded $W$-modules. We classify the posh pairs $(p,U)$ for which a posh hsop of degree $p$ carrying $U$ exists. Every such $U$ is a Galois twist of $V^*$. Extending work of Ito and Okada, we deduce that the quotient $S/(Θ)$ is a permutation module for $W$ if and only if $U \simeq V^*$.
Counting factorizations of Singer cycles in linear and unitary groups
We count factorizations of Singer cycles as products of reflections in the families of special and general unitary and linear groups over a finite field. In the case of minimum-length factorizations, the resulting answer is a striking product formula resembling the count for minimum-length factorizations of Coxeter elements into reflections in complex reflections groups. Moreover, for minimum length, the answers for the unitary and linear groups exhibit the phenomenon of Ennola duality, where the number of factorizations in a unitary group over the field $\mathbb{F}_q$ is given by replacing `$q$' with `$-q$' in the corresponding answer for a linear group. We use the character theory of these groups to make this count, and in particular we employ the Deligne--Lusztig theory of characters for finite reductive groups.
Differential Operators on $G(r,n)$-Invariant Functions
We generalize known results on normalized symmetric coordinates and their dual differential operators, established for the symmetric group, to the complex monomial reflection group $G(r,n):=μ_r\wr S_n$ (with $G(1,n)=S_n$). The central tool, proved in detail, is a \emph{transfer principle}: the substitution $y_i=x_i^r$ identifies the invariant ring of $G(r,n)$ with that of $S_n$ and transports, term by term, the corresponding operators and coordinates into explicit rational objects in the original variables $x_i$. From this we deduce the $G(r,n)$-analogues of the known results for $S_n$ existence and uniqueness of the dual coordinates $U_k$, and a Weyl algebra structure localized at the discriminant of $G(r,n)$ with complete and self-contained proofs for the points that do not follow directly from the transfer (Leibniz rule, main theorem). We then treat the \emph{total diagonal}: its preimage splits into $r^{n-1}$ lines permuted transitively by the group, and there, unlike the transferred operators $Δ_i$, the \emph{raw} derivatives $\partial_{x_i}$ exhibit a phenomenon specific to $r\ge2$ that we describe completely via a Fa di Bruno-type structure formula. Finally, we give a closed formula for the constants of this structure formula (via Bell polynomials), completely resolve the degeneracy at an isolated point $x_i=0$ (the operator $Δ_i$ extends holomorphically there, with $Δ_iϕ=\partial_i^rϕ/r!$), and deduce from this a partial analogue of the description of the tangent space to the GIT quotient $\CC^n/G(r,n)$; the case of several coordinates vanishing simultaneously remains open and is precisely delineated. Full proofs of all new results are given in detail.
Specht ideals for the imprimitive complex reflection group $G(r,1,n)$: geometric orbit types and a dominance theorem
Moustrou, Riener, and Verdure related the dominance order on partitions to Specht ideal and variety inclusion for $S_n$; we previously extended this to direct products of symmetric groups. Here we take a first step toward the imprimitive complex reflection group $G(r,1,n)=(\mathbb{Z}/r\mathbb{Z})\wr S_n$. The correct geometric invariant of a point $x\in K^n$ is a pair $(μ,z)$: a classical partition $μ$ on the $r$-th powers of the nonzero coordinates, together with the number $z$ of zero coordinates. We construct a $G(r,1,n)$-invariant ideal $I_{(μ,z)}$ for each such pair, and show that a dominance order on $(μ,z)$, with $z$ taking strict priority over $μ$, exactly characterizes both ideal inclusion and reverse variety inclusion. We settle a monomial criterion in three regimes, recover the classical $B_n$-Specht ideal theory at $r=2$ when $z=0$, and establish radicality of $I_{(μ,z)}$ at the two extremes of the $z=0$ level. Four computational examples, checked exhaustively for group invariance, illustrate the construction throughout.
Resultant of an equivariant polynomial system with respect to the reflection group $G(r,n)$
We consider systems of homogeneous multivariate polynomials equivariant under the complex reflection group $G(r,n) = (\mathbb{Z}/r\mathbb{Z})^n \rtimes S_n$. Using divided differences indexed by partitions of $n$, we establish a decomposition formula expressing the resultant of such a system as a product of resultants of smaller, partition-indexed subsystems. Combining this with the classical resultant--discriminant relation, we show that the discriminant of a $G(r,n)$-invariant homogeneous polynomial splits explicitly into a product of resultants of smaller subsystems, considerably easier to compute; we illustrate both decompositions with worked examples.
Noncrossing Combinatorics, the Full Twist, and Decategorification of Knot Invariants
Much work in knot theory has consisted of categorifying, and thereby strengthening, knot invariants. We take the opposite approach: decategorification, more commonly called combinatorics. We introduce a technique that relates the dual braid group generators, the Hecke images of pure braids, and factorization problems in reflection groups to knot invariants. We prove that the $(a,z{=}0)$-HOMFLYPT polynomial can be computed as a solution to such a problem. This technique was motivated by Coxeter--Catalan combinatorics. For example, we give a new proof of EL-shellability of the noncrossing partition lattice using the image of the full twist in the Hecke algebra; in a surprising sort of combinatorial reciprocity, its inverse computes the homotopy type. Similarly, noncrossing partitions naturally arise from our construction applied to positive powers of the full twist, while cluster complexes come from the same construction applied to negative powers. In crystallographic type, we exploit the conjugacy of all Coxeter elements to give the first reflection subword models for rational noncrossing Catalan objects. Our reciprocity gives two models: one generalizing noncrossing partitions, and one generalizing clusters. Applying the same method produces two (rational) noncrossing parking models.
Interval Garside groups arising from involutions in finite reflection groups
We identify and study the interval Garside groups arising from the restriction of the absolute order on a Coxeter group to a lattice $[1,w]_T$, where $w$ is an involution. Those involutions $w$ for which $[1,w]_T$ is a lattice were previously classified by the second author; every such involution lies in the center of the parabolic subgroup generated by $[1,w]_T$. Except in type $B_n$, the obtained groups are isomorphic to (decomposable) right-angled Artin groups. We also investigate the situation for some finite complex reflection groups, mostly in rank two, taking for $w$ a (not necessarily involutive) central element.
Computation of small reflective and dihedral Ramsey numbers
Throughout, all graphs are simple, finite and have vertex sets of the form $\{ 0, 1, 2, \ldots, n - 1 \}$ for some $n \in \mathbb{N}$. For graphs $G$ and $H$, and a permutation group $Γ$ on the vertex set of $H$, we say that $H$ is $Γ$-embeddable in $G$ if there exists a graph homomorphism from $H$ to $G$ of the form $ψ\circ \varphi$, where $\varphi \in Γ$ and $ψ$ is an increasing injection. Recently, standard and ordered Ramsey numbers of graphs were unified through the introduction of permutational Ramsey numbers, defined as follows. For graphs $H_1, H_2, \ldots, H_k$ and permutation groups $Γ_1, Γ_2, \ldots, Γ_k$ on their respective vertex sets, the permutational Ramsey number $R(H_1^{Γ_1}, H_2^{Γ_2}, \ldots, H_k^{Γ_k})$ is the minimum $n \in \mathbb{N}$ such that for every $k$-edge-coloring of a complete graph on $n$ vertices, there exists some $j \in \{1, 2, \ldots, k\}$ for which $H_j$ is $Γ_j$-embeddable in the spanning subgraph of the complete graph comprising the edges of color $j$.
Here, we consider reflective (resp. dihedral) Ramsey numbers, which are a specific class of permutational Ramsey numbers in which each group $Γ_j$ is the reflection group (resp. dihedral group) on the naturally ordered vertex set of $H_j$. Focusing on the two-color case, we apply the SAT-based approach originally proposed by Poljak for ordered Ramsey numbers and recently extended to cyclic Ramsey numbers. We utilize the Kissat SAT solver to obtain exact values and lower bounds for small reflective and dihedral Ramsey numbers whose two arguments belong to the following graph classes: monotone and alternating paths, monotone cycles, start-central stars, complete graphs and nested matchings. We also derive several general results and formulate conjectures based on the computational findings.
Superspace coinvariants for wreath products
Let $Ω$ be the superspace ring of regular differential forms on the affine space $\mathbb{C}^n$. If $G \subseteq GL_n(\mathbb{C})$ is a complex reflection group, the {\em $G$-superspace coinvariant ring} is the quotient $SR_G := Ω_n/SI_G$ where $SI_G \subseteq Ω$ is the ideal generated by $G$-invariants with vanishing constant term. We study this ring when $G = \mathbb{Z}_r \wr \mathfrak{S}_n$ is the group of $r$-colored permutation matrices. We prove a conjecture of Sagan and Swanson on a monomial basis for $SR_G$ and give an Operator Theorem description of its inverse system. We also give a combinatorial model for the ungraded and exterior-graded structure of $SR_G$ as a $G$-module.
Complete simplicial fans, Stanley--Reisner rings, and equivariant h-polynomials
We derive a graded character formula for the action of any finite group on the Artinian reduction of the Stanley--Reisner ring of any complete simplicial fan, which is given by an equivariant version of the classical h-polynomial. This gives the graded character formula for the representation of the group on the cohomology of the associated toric variety when the fan is rational. As an application, we use a navel tool, which we called hybrid fan, to compute the Poincaré polynomial of the invariants of the Artinian reduction of the Stanley--Reisner ring of any complete simplicial fan under a finite reflection group action. This implies that the Poincaré polynomial of the quotient of a compact toric orbifold by any finite reflection group is equal to the Poincaré polynomial of the compact toric orbifold associated to the hybrid fan.
Cyclic sieving phenomena on parabolic classes of faces of the cluster complex
The cyclic sieving phenomenon was introduced by Reiner, Stanton and White in 2004 as a generalization of Stembridge's $q=-1$ phenomenon. In a paper from 2008, Eu and Fu studied many occurrences of this phenomenon on the faces of the generalized cluster complex with the action of the Fomin-Reading rotation in the classical types $A_n$, $B_n$, $D_n$ and $I_2(k)$. There was yet no known uniform $q$-analogue of the $k$-face numbers of these complexes. In a more recent paper from 2023, Douvropoulos and Josuat-Vergès provided a refinement of the enumeration of the faces of the generalized cluster complex using a uniform formula. For a parabolic subgroup $W_X \subset W$ of the associated Coxeter group $W$, their formula factorises nicely under the assumption that $N_W(W_X)/W_X$ acts as a reflection group on $X$, which is very often the case. Using this condition, we provide a uniform refinement of these cyclic sieving phenomena using a $q$-analogue of their main formula with a type by type proof based on the classification of finite irreducible Coxeter groups.
On invariant subrings of Orlik--Solomon and Varchenko--Gel'fand algebras in type A
We provide simple presentations in terms of generators and relations for the invariant subring of both the Orlik--Solomon algebra and Varchenko--Gel'fand ring of the type $A_n$ reflection arrangement acted upon by the type $A_{n-1}$ reflection group.
This may be interpreted as a presentation for the cohomology of the ``mixed configuration space" of $n$ red points and one blue point.
We provide increasingly refined descriptions of the invariant ring starting with the total dimension and ending with the simple presentation in terms of generators and relations.
On the finiteness of the group associated with weighted walks in multidimensional orthants
In the study of walks with small steps confined to multidimensional orthants, a certain group of transformations plays a central role. In particular, several techniques to potentially compute the generating function, including the orbit sum method, can only be applied when this group is finite. In this note, we present three new results concerning this group. First, in two dimensions, we provide a complete characterization of the weight parameters that yield a finite group. In higher dimensions, we show that whenever the group is finite, it must necessarily be isomorphic to a simpler reflection group. Finally, in dimension three, we give a full classification of the parameters leading to a finite group that also satisfies an additional Weyl property.
On Universal derivations for multiarrangements
The study of universal derivations for arbitrary multiarrangements and multiplicity functions was initiated by Abe, Röhrle, Stump, and Yoshinaga in 2024 which focused on arrangements arising from (well-generated) reflection groups. In this paper we provide a criterion for determining whether a derivation is universal along with a characterization of universal derivations for arbitrary 2-multiarrangements. As an application we give descriptions of universal derivations for several multiarrangements, including the so-called deleted $A_3$ arrangement. This is the first known example of a non-reflection arrangement that admits a universal derivation distinct from the Euler derivation.
Stable hyperplane arrangements
We classify complex hyperplane arrangements $\mathcal A$ whose intersection posets $L(\mathcal A)$ satisfy $L(\mathcal A)=π_i^{-1}\circπ_i\bigl(L(\mathcal A)\bigr)$ for $i=1,\dots,n$. Here $π_i$ denotes the projection from $\mathbb C^n$ onto $\mathbb C^{n-1}$ defined by that forgets the coordinate $x_i$ of $(x_1,\dots,x_n)\in\mathbb C^n$, and $π_i\bigl(L(\mathcal A)\bigr)=\{π_i(S)\mid S\in L(\mathcal A)\}$. We show that such arrangements $\mathcal A$ arise as pullbacks of the mirror hyperplanes of complex reflection groups of type $A$ or $B$.

We study, characterize, and enumerate the admissible pinnacle sets of nonexceptional complex reflection groups $G(m,p,n)$, which include all generalized symmetric groups $\mathbb{Z}_m \wr S_n$ as special cases. This generalizes the work of Davis--Nelson--Petersen--Tenner for symmetric groups $S_n$ and González--Harris--Rojas Kirby--Smit Vega Garcia--Tenner for signed symmetric groups $\mathbb{Z}_2 \wr S_n$. As a consequence, we prove a conjecture of González--Harris--Rojas Kirby--Smit Vega Garcia--Tenner for pinnacles of signed permutations.
On the Structure of Multilinear Invariants of a Finite Unitary Reflection Group
We study the space of multilinear invariants \( V_f \) of degree \( f \) for a specified finite unitary reflection group. A subspace \( W_f \) of typical invariants is also introduced. We note that the dimension of \( W_f \) is given by Catalan number. We explore both spaces for \( f \leq 5 \), noting that their dimensions differ based on the value of \( f \). We explicitly determine the bases for both spaces, and then we establish the relationship between the vectors of the two bases.
Some calculations of centralizer rings of a complex reflection group
Let H1 be the complex reflection group of order 96. For the tensor products of faithful transitive permutation representations of H1, we determine the structures of the centralizer rings. This complements the work of Imamura-Kosuda-Oura.
Posets for Specht ideals of essential real reflection groups
Specht ideals are symmetric ideals in the polynomial ring generated by Specht polynomials associated with group representations. These ideals were previously studied for reflection groups of types $A$ and $B$, where their inclusion relations and their varieties reflect rich combinatorial structures. In this paper, we extend this theory to type $D$ and the dihedral groups. Our results complete the combinatorial study of Specht ideals across all infinite families of essential real reflection groups.
Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for the cyclotomic Hecke algebra and applications
We derive a Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for irreducible characters of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra on certain standard elements, which fully determine their values. This work builds upon our recent multi-parameter Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for Macdonald polynomials. Our Murnaghan-Nakayama rule can be readily specialized to retrieve various existing rules, including those for the complex reflection group of type $G(m, 1, n)$ and the Iwahori-Hecke algebra in types $A$ and $B$. In a dual picture, we establish an iterative formula for the irreducible characters on upper multipartitions, utilizing the vertex operator realization of Schur functions.
As applications we derive an Regev-type formula and an Lübeck-Prasad-Adin-Roichman-type formula for the cyclotomic Hecke algebra, thereby extending the corresponding formulas for the Iwahori-Hecke algebra in type $A$ and the complex reflection group of type $G(m,1,n)$ to the setting of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra, respectively. Finally, we introduce the notion of the multiple bitrace of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra to formulate the second orthogonal relation of the irreducible characters. We also provide a general combinatorial rule to compute the multiple bitrace.
