A positroid variety is an intersection of cyclically rotated Grassmannian Schubert varieties. Each graded piece of the homogeneous coordinate ring of a positroid variety is the intersection of cyclically rotated (rectangular) Demazure modules, which we call the cyclic Demazure module. In this note, we show that the cyclic Demazure module has a canonical basis, and define the cyclic Demazure crystal.
Splittings and symbolic powers of square-free monomial Ideals
We study the symbolic powers of square-free monomial ideals via symbolic Rees algebras and methods in prime characteristic. In particular, we prove that the symbolic Rees algebra and the symbolic associated graded algebra are split with respect to a morphism which resembles the Frobenius map and that exists in all characteristics. Using these methods, we recover a result by Hoa and Trung which states that the normalized $a$-invariants and the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the symbolic powers converge. In addition, we give a sufficient condition for the equality of the ordinary and symbolic powers of this family of ideals, and relate it to Conforti-Cornuéjols conjecture. Finally, we interpret this condition in the context of linear optimization.
Generalized angle vectors, geometric lattices, and flag-angles
Interior and exterior angle vectors of polytopes capture curvature information at faces of all dimensions and can be seen as metric variants of $f$-vectors. In this context, Gram's relation takes the place of the Euler--Poincaré relation as the unique linear relation among interior angles. We show the existence and uniqueness of Euler--Poincaré-type relations for generalized angle vectors by building a bridge to the algebraic combinatorics of geometric lattices, generalizing work of Klivans--Swartz.
We introduce flag-angles of polytopes as a geometric counterpart to flag-$f$-vectors. Flag-angles generalize the angle deficiencies of Descartes--Shephard, Grassmann angles, and spherical intrinsic volumes. Using the machinery of incidence algebras, we relate flag-angles of zonotopes to flag-$f$-vectors of graded posets. This allows us to determine the linear relations satisfied by interior/exterior flag-angle vectors.

We show that the cyclic sieving phenomenon of Reiner--Stanton--White together with necklace generating functions arising from work of Klyachko offer a remarkably unified, direct, and largely bijective approach to a series of results due to Kraskiewicz--Weyman, Stembridge, and Schocker related to the so-called higher Lie modules and branching rules for inclusions $ C_a \wr S_b \hookrightarrow S_{ab} $. Extending the approach gives monomial expansions for certain graded Frobenius series arising from a generalization of Thrall's problem.

We study a variation of Bagchi and Datta's $σ$-vector of a simplicial complex $C$, whose entries are defined as weighted averages of Betti numbers of induced subcomplexes of $C$. We show that these invariants satisfy an Alexander-Dehn-Sommerville type identity, and behave nicely under natural operations on triangulated manifolds and spheres such as connected sums and bistellar flips.
In the language of commutative algebra, the invariants are weighted sums of graded Betti numbers of the Stanley-Reisner ring of $C$. This interpretation implies, by a result of Adiprasito, that the Billera-Lee sphere maximizes these invariants among triangulated spheres with a given $f$-vector. For the first entry of $σ$, we extend this bound to the class of strongly connected pure complexes.
As an application, we show how upper bounds on $σ$ can be used to obtain lower bounds on the $f$-vector of triangulated $4$-manifolds with transitive symmetry on vertices and prescribed vector of Betti numbers.

A sequence of $S_n$-representations $\{V_n\}$ is said to be uniformly representation stable if the decomposition of $V_n = \bigoplus_μ c_{μ,n} V(μ)_n$ into irreducible representations is independent of $n$ for each $μ$---that is, the multiplicities $c_{μ,n}$ are eventually independent of $n$ for each $μ$. Church-Ellenberg-Farb proved that the cohomology of flag varieties (the so-called diagonal coinvariant algebra) is uniformly representation stable. We generalize their result from flag varieties to all Springer fibers. More precisely, we show that for any increasing subsequence of Young diagrams, the corresponding sequence of Springer representations form a graded co-FI-module of finite type (in the sense of Church-Ellenberg-Farb). We also explore some combinatorial consequences of this stability.
On ideals generated by fold products of linear forms
Let $\mathbb K$ be a field of characteristic 0. Given $n$ linear forms in $R=\mathbb K[x_1,\ldots,x_k]$, with no two proportional, in one of our main results we show that the ideal $I\subset R$ generated by all $(n-2)$-fold products of these linear forms has linear graded free resolution. This result helps determining a complete set of generators of the symmetric ideal of $I$. Via Sylvester forms we can analyze from a different perspective the generators of the presentation ideal of the Orlik-Terao algebra of the second order; this is the algebra generated by the reciprocals of the products of any two (distinct) of the linear forms considered. We also show that when $k=2$, and when the collection of $n$ linear forms may contain proportional linear forms, for any $1\leq a\leq n$, the ideal generated by $a$-fold products of these linear forms has linear graded free resolution.

We compute the graded Betti numbers for the toric ideal of a family of graphs constructed by adjoining a cycle to a complete bipartite graph. The key observation is that this family admits an initial ideal which has linear quotients. As a corollary, we compute the Hilbert series and $h$-vector for all the toric ideals of graphs in this family.
Acyclicity in finite groups and groupoids
We expound a concise construction of finite groups and groupoids whose Cayley graphs satisfy graded acyclicity requirements. Our acyclicity criteria concern cyclic patterns formed by coset-like configurations w.r.t. subsets of the generator set rather than just by individual generators. The proposed constructions correspondingly yield finite groups and groupoids whose Cayley graphs satisfy much stronger acyclicity conditions than large girth. We thus obtain generic and canonical constructions of highly homogeneous graph structures with strong acyclicity properties, which support known applications in finite graph and hypergraph coverings that locally unfold cyclic configurations.
On 2-representation infinite algebras arising from dimer models

The Jacobian algebra arising from a consistent dimer model is a bimodule $3$-Calabi-Yau algebra, and its center is a $3$-dimensional Gorenstein toric singularity. A perfect matching of a dimer model gives the degree making the Jacobian algebra $\mathbb{Z}$-graded. It is known that if the degree zero part of such an algebra is finite dimensional, then it is a $2$-representation infinite algebra which is a generalization of a representation infinite hereditary algebra. Internal perfect matchings, which correspond to toric exceptional divisors on a crepant resolution of a $3$-dimensional Gorenstein toric singularity, characterize the property that the degree zero part of the Jacobian algebra is finite dimensional. Combining this characterization with the theorems due to Amiot-Iyama-Reiten, we show that the stable category of graded maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules admits a tilting object for any $3$-dimensional Gorenstein toric isolated singularity. We then show that all internal perfect matchings corresponding to the same toric exceptional divisor are transformed into each other using the mutations of perfect matchings, and this induces derived equivalences of $2$-representation infinite algebras.

The center $\mathscr{Z}_n(q)$ of the integral group algebra of the general linear group $GL_n(q)$ over a finite field admits a filtration with respect to the reflection length. We show that the structure constants of the associated graded algebras $\mathscr{G}_n(q)$ are independent of $n$, and this stability leads to a universal stable center with positive integer structure constants which governs the algebras $\mathscr{G}_n(q)$ for all $n$. Various structure constants of the stable center are computed and several conjectures are formulated. Analogous stability properties for symmetric groups and wreath products were established earlier by Farahat-Higman and the second author.

Recent work of An, Drummond-Cole, and Knudsen, as well as the author, has shown that the homology groups of configuration spaces of graphs can be equipped with the structure of a finitely generated graded module over a polynomial ring. In this work we study this module structure in certain families of graphs using the language of FI-algebras recently explored by Nagel and Römer. As an application we prove that the syzygies of the modules in these families exhibit a range of stable behaviors.

We introduce the concept of $t$-spread monomials and $t$-spread strongly stable ideals. These concepts are a natural generalization of strongly stable and squarefree strongly stable ideals. For the study of this class of ideals we use the $t$-fold stretching operator. It is shown that $t$-spread strongly stable ideals are componentwise linear. Their height, their graded Betti numbers and their generic initial ideal are determined. We also consider the toric rings whose generators come from $t$-spread principal Borel ideals.
Independence Posets

Let $G$ be an acylic directed graph. For each vertex $g \in G$, we define an involution on the independent sets of $G$. We call these involutions flips, and use them to define a new partial order on independent sets of $G$.
Trim lattices generalize distributive lattices by removing the graded hypothesis: a graded trim lattice is a distributive lattice, and every distributive lattice is trim. Our independence posets are a further generalization of distributive lattices, eliminating also the lattice requirement: an independence poset that is a lattice is always a trim lattice, and every trim lattice is the independence poset for a unique (up to isomorphism) acyclic directed graph $G$. We characterize when an independence poset is a lattice with a graph-theoretic condition on $G$.
We generalize the definition of rowmotion from distributive lattices to independence posets, and we show it can be computed in three different ways. We also relate our constructions to torsion classes, semibricks, and 2-simpleminded collections arising in the representation theory of certain acyclic finite-dimensional algebras.

Given a function defined over a parabolic subgroup of a Coxeter group, equidistributed with the length, we give a procedure to construct a function over the entire group, equidistributed with the length. Such a procedure permits to define functions equidistributed with the length in all the finite Coxeter groups. We can establish our results in the general setting of graded posets which satisfy some properties. These results apply to some known functions arising in Coxeter groups as the major index, the negative major index and the D-negative major index defined in type $A$, $B$ and $D$ respectively.

A set partition of $[n] := \{1, 2, \dots, n \}$ is called {\em $r$-Stirling} if the numbers $1, 2, \dots, r$ belong to distinct blocks. Haglund, Rhoades, and Shimozono constructed graded ring $R_{n,k}$ depending on two positive integers $k \leq n$ whose algebraic properties are governed by the combinatorics of ordered set partitions of $[n]$ with $k$ blocks. We introduce a variant $R_{n,k}^{(r)}$ of this quotient for ordered $r$-Stirling partitions which depends on three integers $r \leq k \leq n$. We describe the standard monomial basis of $R_{n,k}^{(r)}$ and use the combinatorial notion of the {\em coinversion code} of an ordered set partition to reprove and generalize some results of Haglund et.\ al.\ in a more direct way. Furthermore, we introduce a variety $X_{n,k}^{(r)}$ of line arrangements whose cohomology is presented as the integral form of $R_{n,k}^{(r)}$, generalizing results of Pawlowski and Rhoades.
The orbit algebra of a permutation group with polynomial profile is Cohen-Macaulay
Let $G$ be a group of permutations of a denumerable set $E$. The profile of $G$ is the function $φ_G$ which counts, for each $n$, the (possibly infinite) number $φ_G(n)$ of orbits of $G$ acting on the $n$-subsets of $E$. Counting functions arising this way, and their associated generating series, form a rich yet apparently strongly constrained class. In particular, Cameron conjectured in the late seventies that, whenever $φ_G(n)$ is bounded by a polynomial, it is asymptotically equivalent to a polynomial. In 1985, Macpherson further asked if the orbit algebra of $G$ - a graded commutative algebra invented by Cameron and whose Hilbert function is $φ_G$ - is finitely generated. In this paper, we announce a proof of a stronger statement: the orbit algebra is Cohen-Macaulay. The generating series of the profile is a rational fraction whose numerator has positive coefficients and denominator admits a combinatorial description. The proof uses classical techniques from group actions, commutative algebra, and invariant theory; it steps towards a classification of ages of permutation groups with profile bounded by a polynomial.
Counting graded lattices of rank three that have few coatoms

We consider the problem of computing $R(c,a)$, the number of unlabeled graded lattices of rank $3$ that contain $c$ coatoms and $a$ atoms. More specifically we do this when $c$ is fairly small, but $a$ may be large. For this task, we describe a computational method that combines constructive listing of basic cases and tools from enumerative combinatorics. With this method we compute the exact values of $R(c,a)$ for $c\le 9$ and $a\le 1000$.
We also show that, for any fixed $c$, there exists a quasipolynomial in $a$ that matches with $R(c,a)$ for all $a$ above a small value. We explicitly determine these quasipolynomials for $c \le 7$, thus finding closed form expressions of $R(c,a)$ for $c \le 7$.

We prove that graded $k$-Schur functions are $G$-equivariant Euler characteristics of vector bundles on the flag variety, settling a conjecture of Chen-Haiman. We expose a new miraculous shift invariance property of the graded $k$-Schur functions and resolve the Schur positivity and $k$-branching conjectures in the strongest possible terms by providing direct combinatorial formulas using strong marked tableaux.
Dual graded graphs and Bratteli diagrams of towers of groups

An $r$-dual tower of groups is a nested sequence of finite groups, like the symmetric groups, whose Bratteli diagram forms an $r$-dual graded graph. Miller and Reiner introduced a special case of these towers in order to study the Smith forms of the up and down maps in a differential poset. Agarwal and the author have also used these towers to compute critical groups of representations of groups appearing in the tower. In this paper I prove that when $r$ is one or prime, wreath products of a fixed group with the symmetric groups are the only $r$-dual tower of groups, and conjecture that this is the case for general values of $r$. This implies that these wreath products are the only groups for which one can define an analog of the Robinson-Schensted bijection in terms of a growth rule in a dual graded graph.
