Almost Symmetric Schur Functions
We introduce and study a generalization $s_{(μ|λ)}$ of the Schur functions called the almost symmetric Schur functions. These functions simultaneously generalize the finite variable key polynomials and the infinite variable Schur functions. They form a homogeneous basis for the space of almost symmetric functions and are defined using a family of recurrences involving the isobaric divided difference operators and limits of Weyl symmetrization operators. The $s_{(μ|λ)}$ are the $q=t=0$ specialization of the stable limit non-symmetric Macdonald functions $\widetilde{E}_{(μ|λ)}$ defined by the author in previous work. We find a combinatorial formula for these functions simultaneously generalizing well known formulas for the Schur functions and the key polynomials. Further, we prove positivity results for the coefficients of the almost symmetric Schur functions expanded into the monomial basis and into the monomial-Schur basis of the space of almost symmetric functions. The latter positivity result follows after realizing the almost symmetric Schur functions $s_{(μ|λ)}$ as limits of characters of representations of parabolic subgroups in type $GL.$

We study commutative Schur rings over the symplectic groups Sp$(n,2)$ containing the class $\mathcal C$ of symplectic transvections. We find the possible partitions of $\mathcal C$ determined by the Schur ring. We show how this restricts the possibilities for multiplicity one subgroups of Sp$(n,2)$.

We extend the notion of ascent-compatibility from symmetric groups to all Coxeter groups, thereby providing a type-independent framework for constructing families of modules of $0$-Hecke algebras. We apply this framework in type $B$ to give representation-theoretic interpretations of a number of noteworthy families of type-$B$ quasisymmetric functions. Next, we construct modules of the type-$B$ $0$-Hecke algebra corresponding to type-$B$ analogues of Schur functions and introduce a type-$B$ analogue of Schur $Q$-functions; we prove that these shifted domino functions expand positively in the type-$B$ peak functions. We define a type-$B$ analogue of the $0$-Hecke--Clifford algebra, and we use this to provide representation-theoretic interpretations for both the type-$B$ peak functions and the shifted domino functions. We consider the modules of this algebra induced from type-$B$ $0$-Hecke modules constructed via ascent-compatibility and prove a general formula, in terms of type-$B$ peak functions, for the type-$B$ quasisymmetric characteristics of the restrictions of these modules.
From quasi-symmetric to Schur expansions with applications to symmetric chain decompositions and plethysm

It is an important problem in algebraic combinatorics to deduce the Schur function expansion of a symmetric function whose expansion in terms of the fundamental quasisymmetric function is known. For example, formulas are known for the fundamental expansion of a Macdonald symmetric function and for the plethysm of two Schur functions, while the Schur expansions of these expressions are still elusive. Egge, Loehr and Warrington provided a method to obtain the Schur expansion from the fundamental expansion by replacing each quasisymmetric function by a Schur function (not necessarily indexed by a partition) and using straightening rules to obtain the Schur expansion. Here we provide a new method that only involves the coefficients of the quasisymmetric functions indexed by partitions and the quasi-Kostka matrix. As an application, we identify the lexicographically largest term in the Schur expansion of the plethysm of two Schur functions. We provide the Schur expansion of $s_w[s_h](x,y)$ for $w=2,3,4$ using novel symmetric chain decompositions of Young's lattice for partitions in a $w\times h$ box. For $w=4$, this is first known combinatorial expression for the coefficient of $s_λ$ in $s_{w}[s_{h}]$ for two-row partitions $λ$, and for $w=3$ the combinatorial expression is new.
Optimal bounds on the polynomial Schur's theorem
Liu, Pach and Sándor recently characterized all polynomials $p(z)$ such that the equation $x+y=p(z)$ is $2$-Ramsey, that is, any $2$-coloring of $\mathbb{N}$ contains infinitely many monochromatic solutions for $x+y=p(z)$. In this paper, we find asymptotically tight bounds for the following two quantitative questions.
$\bullet$ For $n\in \mathbb{N}$, what is the longest interval $[n,f(n)]$ of natural numbers which admits a $2$-coloring with no monochromatic solutions of $x+y=p(z)$?
$\bullet$ For $n\in \mathbb{N}$ and a $2$-coloring of the first $n$ integers $[n]$, what is the smallest possible number $g(n)$ of monochromatic solutions of $x+y=p(z)$?
Our theorems determine $f(n)$ up to a multiplicative constant $2+o(1)$, and determine the asymptotics for $g(n)$.
Equality of skew Schur functions in noncommuting variables

The question of classifying when two skew Schur functions are equal is a substantial open problem, which remains unsolved for over a century. In 2022, Aliniaeifard, Li and van Willigenburg introduced skew Schur functions in noncommuting variables, $s_{(δ,D)}$, where $D$ is a connected skew diagram with $n$ boxes and $δ$ is a permutation in the symmetric group $S_n$.
In this paper, we combine these two and classify when two skew Schur functions in noncommuting variables are equal: $s_{(δ,D)} = s_{(τ,T)}$ such that $D\ne T$ if and only if $D$ is a nonsymmetric ribbon, $T$ is the antipodal rotation of $D$ and $\overline{τ^{-1}δ}$ is an explicit bijection between two set partitions determined by $D$.
The 2D Toda lattice hierarchy for multiplicative statistics of Schur measures
We prove Fredholm determinants build out from generalizations of Schur measures, or equivalently, arbitrary multiplicative statistics of the original Schur measures are tau-functions of the 2D Toda lattice hierarchy. Our result apply to finite temperature Schur measures, and extends both the result of Okounkov in \cite{okounkovschurmeasures} and of Cafasso-Ruzza in \cite{cafassoruzza} concerning the finite-temperature Plancherel measure. Our proof lies on the semi-infinite wedge formalism and the Boson-Fermion correspondance.
Three Examples of Quasisymmetric Compatible $\mathfrak{S}_n$-modules
The Schur functions, a basis for the symmetric polynomials (Sym), encode the irreducible representations of the symmetric group, $\mathfrak{S}_n$, via the Frobenius characteristic map. In 1996, Krob and Thibon defined a quasisymmetric Frobenius map on the representations of $\mathcal{H}_n(0)$, mapping them to the quasisymmetric functions (QSym). Despite the obvious inclusion of Sym in QSym and the close relationship between $\mathfrak{S}_n$ and $\mathcal{H}_n(0)$, there is no known direct link between these two Frobenius characteristic maps and the related representations. We explore three specific situations in which a deformation of an $\mathfrak{S}_n$ action results in a valid $\mathcal{H}_n(0)$ action and gives a quasisymmetric Frobenius characteristic that is equal to the symmetric Frobenius characteristic. We introduce the concept of quasisymmetric compatibility, which formalizes a link between the two maps, and we show it applies to all $\mathfrak{S}_n$-modules.

PySymmPol is a Python package designed for efficient manipulation of symmetric polynomials. It provides functionalities for working with various types of symmetric polynomials, including elementary, homogeneous, monomial symmetric, (skew-) Schur, and Hall-Littlewood polynomials. In addition to polynomial operations, PySymmPol offers tools to explore key properties of integer partitions and Young diagrams, such as transposition, Frobenius coordinates, characters of symmetric groups and others.
The Schur polynomials in all primitive $n$th roots of unity

We show that the Schur polynomials in all primitive $n$th roots of unity are $1$, $0$, or $-1$, if $n$ has at most two distinct odd prime factors. This result can be regarded as a generalization of properties of the coefficients of the cyclotomic polynomial and its multiplicative inverse. The key to the proof is the concept of a unimodular system of vectors. Namely, this result can be reduced to the unimodularity of the tensor product of two maximal circuits (here we call a vector system a maximal circuit, if it can be expressed as $B \cup \{ -\sum B \}$ with some basis $B$).
Schur positivity of difference of products of derived Schur polynomials
To any Schur polynomial $s_λ$ one can associated its derived polynomials $s_λ{(i)}$ $i=0,\ldots,|λ|$ by the rule $$s_λ(x_1+t,\ldots,x_n+t) = \sum_i s_λ^{(i)}(x_1,\ldots,x_n) t^i.$$ We conjecture that $$(s_λ^{(i)})^2 - s_λ^{(i-1)} s_λ^{(i+1)}$$ is always Schur positive and prove this when $i=1$ for rectangles $λ= (k^\ell)$, for hooks $λ= (k, 1^{\ell -1})$, and when $λ= (k,k,1)$ or $λ= (3,2^{k-1})$.
Towards equivalent thickened ribbon Schur functions
Two skew diagrams are defined to be equivalent if their corresponding skew Schur functions are equal. The equivalence classes for ribbons have been classified by Billera, Thomas and van Willigenburg in 2006. In this paper, we provide a complete characterization of equivalence classes for connected skew diagrams with exactly one $2\times m$ or $m\times 2$ block of boxes for all $m\ge 2$. In particular, possible sizes of equivalence classes are one, two or four, confirming special cases of the elusive conjecture on equivalent skew connected diagrams proposed by McNamara and van Willigenburg in 2009.

We are extending results from \cite{B-Hurwitz} by building a parallel theory of simple Hurwitz numbers for the reflection groups $G(m,1,n)$. We also study analogs of the cut-and-join operators. An algebraic description as well as a description in terms of ramified covering of Hurwitz numbers is provided. An explicit formula for them in terms of Schur polynomials are provided. In addition the generating function of $G(m,1,n)$-Hurwitz numbers is shown to give rise to $m$ independent variables $τ$-function of the KP hierarchy. Finally we provide an ELSV-formula type for these new Hurwitz numbers.
Interpolation Polynomials, Binomial Coefficients, and Symmetric Function Inequalities
Interpolation polynomials were introduced by Knop--Sahi in type $A$, and Okounkov in type $BC$. They are inhomogeneous polynomials whose top terms are Jack and Macdonald polynomials. Thus the expansion coefficients for the product of two interpolation polynomials, known as Littlewood--Richardson coefficients, generalize the corresponding coefficients for Jack/Macdonald polynomials. Special values of interpolation polynomials, known as binomial coefficients, arise in the binomial type expansions of Jack/Macdonald polynomials and Koornwinder polynomials.
We prove a number of results for interpolation polynomials and the associated coefficients. These include positivity and monotonicity results for binomial coefficients, partial positivity results for Littlewood--Richardson coefficients, and weighted sum formulas for both kinds of coefficients.
As a special case of our results we obtain a new symmetric function inequality, which establishes a ``duality'' between Jack expansion positivity for symmetric functions, and the containment order on partitions, with respect to the shifted basis $Ω_λ({\bf1}+x;τ)$, where ${\bf1} =(1,\ldots,1)$ and $Ω_λ(x;τ)=P_λ(x;τ)/P_λ({\bf1};τ)$ is the normalized Jack polynomial.
Our inequality can be seen as an analog of the inequalities of Cuttler--Greene--Skandera+Sra and Khare--Tao, which establish similar dualities between evaluation positivity on the positive orthant, and the dominance and weak dominance orders on partitions, with respect to the normalized Schur basis $Ω_λ(x)=s_λ(x)/s_λ({\bf1})$ and its shifted version $Ω_λ({\bf1}+x)$, respectively. In contrast to our result, the Jack versions of the two latter inequalities, although expected to hold, have not yet been proved.
Temperley-Lieb Crystals

Elements of Lusztig's dual canonical bases are Schur-positive when evaluated on (generalized) Jacobi-Trudi matrices. This deep property was proved by Rhoades and Skandera, relying on a result of Haiman, and ultimately on the (proof of) Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture. For a particularly tractable part of the dual canonical basis - called Temperley-Lieb immanants - we give a generalization of Littlewood-Richardson rule: we provide a combinatorial interpretation for the coefficient of a particular Schur function in the evaluation of a particular Temperley-Lieb immanant on a particular Jacobi-Trudi matrix. For this we introduce shuffle tableaux, and apply Stembridge's axioms to show that certain graphs on shuffle tableaux are type $A$ Kashiwara crystals.
The diagonal derivative of a skew Schur polynomial
We prove a formula for the image of a skew Schur polynomial $s_{λ/μ}\left( x_{1}, x_{2}, \ldots, x_{N}\right) $ under the differential operator $\nabla:= \dfrac{\partial}{\partial x_{1}} +\dfrac{\partial}{\partial x_{2}}+\cdots+\dfrac{\partial}{\partial x_{N}}$. This generalizes a formula of Weigandt for $\nabla\left( s_λ\right) $.
Differential equations for the series of hypermaps with control on their full degree profile

We consider the generating series of oriented and non-oriented hypermaps with controlled degrees of vertices, hyperedges and faces. It is well known that these series have natural expansions in terms of Schur and Zonal symmetric functions, and with some particular specializations, they satisfy the celebrated KP and BKP equations.
We prove that the full generating series of hypermaps satisfy a family of differential equations. We give a first proof which works for an $α$ deformation of these series related to Jack polynomials. This proof is based on a recent construction formula for Jack characters using differential operators. We also provide a combinatorial proof for the orientable case.
Our approach also applies to the series of $k$-constellations with control of the degrees of vertices of all colors. In other words, we obtain an equation for the generating function of Hurwitz numbers (and their $α$-deformations) with control of full ramification profiles above an arbitrary number of points. Such equations are new even in the orientable case.
Explicit expressions for the gamma vector leading to connections to upper/lower bounds and structural properties
We find an explicit formula for the gamma vector in terms of the input polynomial in a way that extends it to arbitrary polynomials. More specifically, we find explicit linear combination in terms of coefficients of the input polynomial (using Catalan numbers and binomial coefficients) and an expression involving the derivative of the input polynomial. The first expression suggests connections to common Coxeter group/noncrossing partition structures in existing gamma positivity examples. In the case where the input is the $h$-polynomial of a simplicial complex, this gives an interpretation of the gamma vector as a measure of differences in local and global contributions. We also apply them to connect signs/inequalities of (shifts of) the gamma vector to upper/lower bound conditions on coefficients of the input polynomial. Finally, we make use of the shape of the sums used to make these estimates and connections with intersection numbers to relate these properties of the gamma vector to algebraic structures (e.g. characteristic classes involved in existing log concavity and Schur positivity properties).
Newton polytopes of dual $k$-Schur polynomials

Rado's theorem about permutahedra and dominance order on partitions reveals that each Schur polynomial is M-convex, or equivalently, it has a saturated Newton polytope and this polytope is a generalized permutahedron as well. In this paper we show that the support of each dual $k$-Schur polynomial indexed by a $k$-bounded partition coincides with that of the Schur polynomial indexed by the same partition, and hence the two polynomials share the same saturated Newton polytope. The main result is based on our recursive algorithm to generate a semistandard $k$-tableau for a given shape and $k$-weight. As consequences, we obtain the M-convexity of dual $k$-Schur polynomials, affine Stanley symmetric polynomials and cylindric skew Schur polynomials.

We give a Molev-Sagan type formula for computing the product $\mathfrak{S}_u(x;y)\mathfrak{S}_v(x;z)$ of two double Schubert polynomials in different sets of coefficient variables where the descents of $u$ and $v$ satisfy certain conditions that encompass Molev and Sagan's original case and conjecture positivity in the general case. Additionally, we provide a Pieri formula for multiplying an arbitrary double Schubert polynomial $\mathfrak{S}_u(x;y)$ by a factorial elementary symmetric polynomial $E_{p,k}(x;z)$. Both formulas remain positive in terms of the negative roots when we set $y=z$, so in particular this gives a new equivariant Littlewood-Richardson rule for the Grassmannian, and more generally a positive formula for multiplying a factorial Schur polynomial $s_λ(x_1,\ldots,x_m;y)$ by a double Schubert polynomial $\mathfrak{S}_v(x_1,\ldots,x_p;y)$ such that $m\geq p$. An additional new result we present is a combinatorial proof of a conjecture of Kirillov of nonnegativity of the coefficients of skew Schubert polynomials, and we conjecture a weight-preserving bijection between a modification of certain diagrams used in our formulas and RC-graphs/pipe dreams arising in formulas for double Schubert polynomials.
