Polynomials defined by tableaux and linear recurrences

We show that several families of polynomials defined via fillings of diagrams satisfy linear recurrences under a natural operation on the shape of the diagram. We focus on key polynomials, (also known as Demazure characters), and Demazure atoms. The same technique can be applied to Hall-Littlewood polynomials and dual Grothendieck polynomials.
The motivation behind this is that such recurrences are strongly connected with other nice properties, such as interpretations in terms of lattice points in polytopes and divided difference operators.

We construct double Grothendieck polynomials of classical types which are essentially equivalent to but simpler than the polynomials defined by A.N.Kirillov in arXiv:1504.01469 and identify them with the polynomials defined by T.Ikeda and H.Naruse in Adv. Math.(2013) for the case of maximal Grassmannian permutations. We also give geometric interpretation of them in terms of algebraic localization map and give explicit combinatorial formulas.

The representation theory of 0-Hecke-Clifford algebras as a degenerate case is not semisimple and also with rich combinatorial meaning. Bergeron et al. have proved that the Grothendieck ring of the category of finitely generated supermodules of 0-Hecke-Clifford algebras is isomorphic to the algebra of peak quasisymmetric functions defined by Stembridge. In this paper we further study the category of finitely generated projective supermodules and clarify the correspondence between it and the peak algebra of symmetric groups. In particular, two kinds of restriction rules for induced projective supermodules are obtained. After that, we consider the corresponding Heisenberg double and its Fock representation to prove that the ring of peak quasisymmetric functions is free over the subring of symmetric functions spanned by Schur's Q-functions.
On Double Schubert and Grothendieck polynomials for Classical Groups
We give an algebra-combinatorial constructions of (noncommutative) generating functions of double Schubert and double $β$-Grothendieck polynomials corresponding to the full flag varieties associated to the Lie groups of classical types $A,B, C$ and $D$. Our approach is based on the decomposition of certain `` transfer matrices `` corresponding to the exponential solution to the quantum Yang--Baxter equations associated with either NiCoxeter or IdCoxeter algebras of classical types.
The "triple"~$β$-Grothendieck polynomials ${\mathfrak{G}}_{w}^{W}(X,Y,Z)$ we have introduced, satisfy, among other things, the coherency and (generalized) vanishing conditions. Their generating function has a nice factorization in the algebra $Id_βCoxeter(W)$, and as a consequence, the polynomials ${\mathfrak{G}}_{w}^{W}(X,Y,Z)$ admit a combinatorial description in terms of $W$-type pipe dreams.
Pipe dream complexes and triangulations of root polytopes belong together
In this paper we show that the pipe dream complex associated to the permutation 1n(n-1)...2 can be geometrically realized as a triangulation of the vertex figure of a root polytope. Leading up to this result we show that the Grothendieck polynomial specializes to the h-polynomial of the corresponding pipe dream complex, which in certain cases equals the h-polynomial of canonical triangulations of root (and flow) polytopes, which in turn equals a specialization of the reduced form of a monomial in the subdivision algebra of root (and flow) polytopes. Thus, we connect Grothendieck polynomials to reduced forms in subdivision algebras and root (and flow) polytopes. We also show that root polytopes can be seen as projections of flow polytopes, explaining that these families of polytopes possess the same subdivision algebra.
Subword complexes via triangulations of root polytopes

Subword complexes are simplicial complexes introduced by Knutson and Miller to illustrate the combinatorics of Schubert polynomials and determinantal ideals. They proved that any subword complex is homeomorphic to a ball or a sphere and asked about their geometric realizations. We show that a family of subword complexes can be realized geometrically via regular triangulations of root polytopes. This implies that a family of $β$-Grothendieck polynomials are special cases of reduced forms in the subdivision algebra of root polytopes. We can also write the volume and Ehrhart series of root polytopes in terms of $β$-Grothendieck polynomials.

We introduce common generalization of (double) Schubert, Grothendieck, Demazure, dual and stable Grothendieck polynomials, and Di Francesco-Zinn-Justin polynomials. Our approach is based on the study of algebraic and combinatorial properties of the reduced rectangular plactic algebra and associated Cauchy kernels.

For a given skew shape, we build a crystal graph on the set of all reverse plane partitions that have this shape. As a consequence, we get a simple extension of the Littlewood-Richardson rule for the expansion of the corresponding dual stable Grothendieck polynomial in terms of Schur polynomials.
An iterated residue perspective on stable Grothendieck polynomials
Grothendieck polynomials are important objects in the study of the $K$-theory of flag varieties. Their many remarkable properties have been studied in the context of algebraic geometry and tableaux combinatorics. We explore a new tool, similar to generating sequences, which we call the iterated residue technique. We prove new formulas on the calculus of iterated residues and use them to prove straightening laws and multiplication formulas for stable Grothendieck polynomials. As a further application of our method, we give new proofs that the $K$-Pieri rule and the expansions of Grothendieck polynomials in the Schur basis both exhibit alternating signs. As a consequence, we observe that our method implies a new combinatorial statement of the $K$-Pieri rule. Our results indicate that the iterated residue technique should be further explored as a new line of attack on open conjectures regarding positivity and stability, for example of quiver polynomials and Thom polynomials, in $K$-theory.
Homotopy colimits of diagrams over posets and variations on a theorem of Thomason
We use a classical result of McCord and reduction methods of finite spaces to prove a generalization of Thomason's theorem on homotopy colimits over posets. In particular this allows us to characterize the homotopy colimits of diagrams of simplicial complexes in terms of the Grothendieck construction on the diagrams of their face posets. We also derive analogues of well known results on homotopy colimits in the combinatorial setting, including a cofinality theorem and a generalization of Quillen's Theorem A for posets.

We compute the number of coverings of ${\mathbb{C}}P^1\setminus\{0, 1, \infty\}$ with a given monodromy type over $\infty$ and given numbers of preimages of 0 and 1. We show that the generating function for these numbers enjoys several remarkable integrability properties: it obeys the Virasoro constraints, an evolution equation, the KP (Kadomtsev-Petviashvili) hierarchy and satisfies a topological recursion in the sense of Eynard-Orantin.
Vacillating Hecke Tableaux and Linked Partitions

We introduce the structure of vacillating Hecke tableaux, and establish a one-to-one correspondence between vacillating Hecke tableaux and linked partitions by using the Hecke insertion algorithm developed by Buch, Kresch, Shimozono, Tamvakis and Yong. Linked partitions arise in free probability theory. Motivated by the Hecke insertion algorithm, we define a Hecke diagram as a Young diagram possibly with a marked corner. A vacillating Hecke tableau is defined as a sequence of Hecke diagrams subject to certain addition and deletion of rook strips. The notion of a rook strip was introduced by Buch in the study of the Littlewood-Richardson rule for stable Grothendieck polynomials. A rook strip is a skew Young diagram with at most one square in each row and column. We show that the crossing number and the nesting number of a linked partition can be determined by the maximal number of rows and the maximal number of columns of the diagrams in the corresponding vacillating Hecke tableau. The proof relies on a theorem due to Thomas and Yong concerning the lengths of the longest strictly increasing and the longest strictly decreasing subsequences in a word. This implies that the crossing number and the nesting number have a symmetric joint distribution over linked partitions, confirming a conjecture of de Mier. We also prove a conjecture of Kim which states that the crossing number and the nesting number have a symmetric joint distribution over the front representations of partitions.
The centre of the extended Haagerup subfactor has 22 simple objects

We explain a technique for discovering the number of simple objects in $Z(C)$, the center of a fusion category $C$, as well as the combinatorial data of the induction and restriction functors at the level of Grothendieck rings. The only input is the fusion ring $K(C)$ and the dimension function $K(C) \to \mathbb{C}$.
The method is not guaranteed to succeed (it may give spurious answers besides the correct one, or it may simply take too much computer time), but it seems it often does. We illustrate by showing that there are 22 simple objects in the center of the extended Haagerup subfactor [arXiv:0909.4099].

Branched covers of the complex projective line ramified over $0,1$ and $\infty$ (Grothendieck's {\em dessins d'enfant}) of fixed genus and degree are effectively enumerated. More precisely, branched covers of a given ramification profile over $\infty$ and given numbers of preimages of $0$ and $1$ are considered. The generating function for the numbers of such covers is shown to satisfy a PDE that determines it uniquely modulo a simple initial condition. Moreover, this generating function satisfies an infinite system of PDE's called the KP (Kadomtsev-Petviashvili) hierarchy. A specification of this generating function for certain values of parameters generates the numbers of {\em dessins} of given genus and degree, thus providing a fast algorithm for computing these numbers.

In the case of Dynkin quivers we establish a formula for the Grothendieck class of a quiver cycle as the iterated residue of a certain rational function, for which we provide an explicit combinatorial construction. Moreover, we utilize a new definition of the double stable Grothendieck polynomials due to Rimanyi and Szenes in terms of iterated residues to exhibit how the computation of quiver coefficients can be reduced to computing coefficients in Laurent expansions of certain rational functions.
Combinatoire algébrique liée aux ordres sur les permutations
This thesis comes within the scope of algebraic combinatorics and studies problems related to three orders on permutations: the two said weak orders (right and left) and the strong order or Bruhat order. The first part deals with bases of multivariate polynomials. Most specifically, we study a product of Grothendieck polynomials and prove that it can interpreted as a sum over the Bruhat order. We also present our implementation of Grothendieck polynomials and other bases in Sage. In a second part, we study the Tamari order binary trees. We obtain a new enumeration formula on the Tamari lattice and a new combinatorial prove of Chapoton's functional equation of the generating functions of Tamari intervals. We extend our results to the m-Tamari case and thus retrieve a formula given by Bousquet-Mélou, Préville-Ratelle and Fusy.

We present a categorification of the non-crossing partitions given by crystallographic Coxeter groups. This involves a category of certain bilinear lattices, which are essentially determined by a symmetrisable generalised Cartan matrix together with a particular choice of a Coxeter element. Examples arise from Grothendieck groups of hereditary artin algebras.
Diagrams of affine permutations, balanced labellings, and symmetric functions
We generalize the work of Fomin, Greene, Reiner, and Shimozono on balanced labellings in two directions: (1) we define the diagrams of affine permutations and the balanced labellings on them; (2) we define the set-valued version of the balanced labellings. We show that the column-strict balanced labellings on the diagram of an affine permutation yield the affine Stanley symmetric function defined by Lam, and that the column-strict set-valued balanced labellings yield the affine stable Grothendieck polynomial of Lam. Moreover, once we impose suitable flag conditions, the flagged column-strict set-valued balanced labellings on the diagram of a finite permutation give a monomial expansion of the Grothendieck polynomial of Lascoux and Schützenberger. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for a diagram to be an affine permutation diagram.
Ideals generated by superstandard tableaux

We investigate products J of ideals of "row initial" minors in the polynomial ring K[X] defined by a generic m-by-n matrix. Such ideals are shown to be generated by a certain set of standard bitableaux that we call superstandard. These bitableaux form a Gröbner basis of J, and J has a linear minimal free resolution. These results are used to derive a new generating set for the Grothendieck group of finitely generated (T_m x GL_n(K))-equivariant modules over K[X]. We employ the Knuth--Robinson--Schensted correspondence and a toric deformation of the multi-Rees algebra that parameterizes the ideals J.
