We recall a numerical criteria for Cohen--Macaulayness related to system of parameters, and introduce monomial ideals of König type which include the edge ideals of König graphs. We show that a monomial ideal is of König type if and only if its corresponding residue class ring admits a system of parameters whose elements are of the form $x_i-x_j$. This provides an algebraic characterization of König graphs. We use this special parameter systems for the study of the edge ideal of König graphs and the study of the order complex of a certain family of posets. Finally, for any simplicial complex $Δ$ we introduce a system of parameters for $K[Δ]$ with a universal construction principle, independent of the base field and only dependent on the faces of $Δ$. This system of parameters is an efficient tool to test Cohen--Macaulayness of the Stanley--Reisner ring of a simplicial complex.

Let $G$ be a simple graph on $n$ vertices and $J_G$ denote the corresponding binomial edge ideal in $S = K[x_1, \ldots, x_n, y_1,\ldots, y_n].$ We prove that the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of $J_G$ is bounded above by $c(G)+1$ when $G$ is a quasi-block graph or semi-block graph. We give another proof of Saeedi Madani-Kiani regularity upper bound conjecture for chordal graphs. We obtain the regularity of binomial edge ideals of Jahangir graphs. Later, we establish a sufficient condition for Hibi-Matsuda conjecture to be true.

Assume that $G$ is a graph with edge ideal $I(G)$ and star packing number $α_2(G)$. We denote the $s$-th symbolic power of $I(G)$ by $I(G)^{(s)}$. It is shown that the inequality ${\rm depth} S/(I(G)^{(s)})\geq α_2(G)-s+1$ is true for every chordal graph $G$ and every integer $s\geq 1$. Moreover, it is proved that for any graph $G$, we have ${\rm depth} S/(I(G)^{(2)})\geq α_2(G)-1$.

We characterize unmixed and Cohen-Macaulay edge-weighted edge ideals of very well-covered graphs. We also provide examples of oriented graphs which have unmixed and non-Cohen-Macaulay vertex-weighted edge ideals, while the edge ideal of their underlying graph is Cohen-Macaulay. This disproves a conjecture posed by Pitones, Reyes and Toledo.
Edge ideals of squares of trees
We describe all the trees with the property that the corresponding edge ideal of the square of the tree has a linear resolution. As a consequence, we give a complete characterization of those trees $T$ for which the square is co-chordal, that is the complement of the square, $(T^2)^c$, is a chordal graph. For particular classes of trees such as paths and double brooms we determine the Krull dimension and the projective dimension.

Fix an integer $n \geq 1$, and consider the set of all connected finite simple graphs on $n$ vertices. For each $G$ in this set, let $I(G)$ denote the edge ideal of $G$ in the polynomial ring $R = K[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$. We initiate a study of the set $\mathcal{RD}(n) \subseteq \mathbb{N}^2$ consisting of all the pairs $(r,d)$ where $r = {\rm reg}(R/I(G))$, the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity, and $d = {\rm deg} h_{R/I(G)}(t)$, the degree of the $h$-polynomial, as we vary over all the connected graphs on $n$ vertices. In particular, we identify sets $A(n)$ and $B(n)$ such that $A(n) \subseteq \mathcal{RD}(n) \subseteq B(n)$. When we restrict to the family of Cameron-Walker graphs on $n$ vertices, we can completely characterize all the possible $(r,d)$.
Relation between regularity of powers of edge ideals and (im, reg)-invariant extension
In this paper, we define (im, reg)-invariant extension of graphs and propose a new approach for Nevo and Peeva's conjecture which said that for any gap-free graph $G$ with $reg(I(G)) = 3$ and for any $k \geq 2$, $I(G)^k$ has a linear resolution.
Moreover, we consider new conjectures related to the regularity of powers of edge ideals of gap-free graphs.

Let $D=(G,\mathcal{O},w)$ be a weighted oriented graph whose edge ideal is $I(D)$. In this paper, we characterize the unmixed property of $I(D)$ for each one of the following cases: $G$ is an $SCQ$ graph; $G$ is a chordal graph; $G$ is a simplicial graph; $G$ is a perfect graph; $G$ has no $4$- or $5$-cycles; $G$ is a graph without $3$- and $5$-cycles; and ${\rm girth}(G)\geqslant 5$.
Max Min vertex cover and the size of Betti tables
Let $G$ be a finite simple graph on $n$ vertices, that contains no isolated vertices, and let $I(G) \subseteq S = K[x_1, \dots, x_n]$ be its edge ideal. In this paper, we study the pair of integers that measure the projective dimension and the regularity of $S/I(G)$. We show that if the projective dimension of $S/I(G)$ attains its minimum value $2\sqrt{n}-2$ then, with only one exception, the its regularity must be 1. We also provide a full description for the spectrum of the projective dimension of $S/I(G)$ when the regularity attains its minimum value 1.

For a given permutation $π\in S_N$, Fulton proves that the matrix Schubert variety $\overline{X_π} \cong Y_π \times \mathbb{C}^q$ can be defined via certain rank conditions encoded in the Rothe diagram of $π$. In the case where $Y_π:=\text{TV}(σ_π)$ is toric (with respect to a $(\mathbb{C}^*)^{2N-1}$ action), we show that it can be described as an edge ideal of a bipartite graph $G^π$. We characterize the lower dimensional faces of the associated so-called edge cone $σ_π$ explicitly in terms of subgraphs of $G^π$ and present a combinatorial study for the first order deformations of $Y_π$. We prove that $Y_π$ is rigid if and only if the three-dimensional faces of $σ_π$ are all simplicial. Moreover, we reformulate this result in terms of Rothe diagram of $π$.

Let $G$ be a finite simple graph on the vertex set $V(G) = \{x_{1}, \ldots, x_{n}\}$ and match$(G)$, min-match$(G)$ and ind-match$(G)$ the matching number, minimum matching number and induced matching number of $G$, respectively. Let $K[V(G)] = K[x_{1}, \ldots, x_{n}]$ denote the polynomial ring over a field $K$ and $I(G) \subset K[V(G)]$ the edge ideal of $G$. The relationship between these graph-theoretic invariants and ring-theoretic invariants of the quotient ring $K[V(G)]/I(G)$ has been studied. In the present paper, we study the relationship between match$(G)$, min-match$(G)$, ind-match$(G)$ and $\dim K[V(G)]/I(G)$.

Let $α=α(G)$ be the independence number of a simple graph $G$ with $n$ vertices and $I(G)$ be its edge ideal in $S=K[x_1,\ldots, x_n]$. If $S/I(G)$ is Gorenstein, the graph $G$ is called Gorenstein over $K$ and if $G$ is Gorenstein over every field, then we simply say that $G$ is Gorenstein. In this article, first we state a condition equivalent to $G$ being Gorenstein and using this we give a characterization of Gorenstein graphs with $α=2$. Then we present some properties of Gorenstein graphs with $α=3$ and as an application of these results we characterize triangle-free Gorenstein graphs with $α=3$.

Let $\mathcal{D}$ be a weighted oriented graph and let $I(\mathcal{D})$ be its edge ideal in a polynomial ring $R$. We give the formula of Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of $R/I(\mathcal{D})$ when $\mathcal{D}$ is a weighted oriented path or cycle such that edges of $\mathcal{D}$ are oriented in one direction. Additionally, we compute the projective dimension for this class of graphs.

Let $D$ be a weighted oriented graph, whose underlying graph is $G$, and let $I(D)$ be its edge ideal. If $G$ has no $3$-, $5$-, or $7$-cycles, or $G$ is König, we characterize when $I(D)$ is unmixed. If $G$ has no $3$- or $5$-cycles, or $G$ is König, we characterize when $I(D)$ is Cohen--Macaulay. We prove that $I(D)$ is unmixed if and only if $I(D)$ is Cohen--Macaulay when $G$ has girth greater than $7$ or $G$ is König and has no $4$-cycles.

Squarefree powers of edge ideals are intimately related to matchings of the underlying graph. In this paper we give bounds for the regularity of squarefree powers of edge ideals, and we consider the question of when such powers are linearly related or have linear resolution. We also consider the so-called squarefree Ratliff property.

Let $I$ and $J$ be edge ideals in a polynomial ring $R = \mathbb{K}[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$ with $I \subseteq J$. In this paper, we obtain a general upper and lower bound for the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of $IJ$ in terms of certain invariants associated with $I$ and $J$. Using these results, we explicitly compute the regularity of $IJ$ for several classes of edge ideals. Let $J_1,\ldots,J_d$ be edge ideals in a polynomial ring $R$ with $J_1 \subseteq \cdots \subseteq J_d$. Finally, we compute the precise expression for the regularity of $J_1 J_2\cdots J_d$ when $d \in \{3,4\}$ and $J_d$ is the edge ideal of complete graph.
On the regularity of small symbolic powers of edge ideals of graphs
Assume that $G$ is a graph with edge ideal $I(G)$ and let $I(G)^{(s)}$ denote the $s$-th symbolic power of $I(G)$. It is proved that for every integer $s\geq 1$, $${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(s+1)})\leq \max\bigg\{{\rm reg}(I(G))+2s, {\rm reg}\big(I(G)^{(s+1)}+I(G)^s\big)\bigg\}.$$As a consequence, we conclude that ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(2)})\leq {\rm reg}(I(G))+2$, and ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(3)})\leq {\rm reg}(I(G))+4$. Moreover, it is shown that if for some integer $k\geq 1$, the graph $G$ has no odd cycle of length at most $2k-1$, then ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(s)})\leq 2s+{\rm reg}(I(G))-2$, for every integer $s\leq k+1$. Finally, it is proven that ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(s)})=2s$, for $s\in \{2, 3, 4\}$, provided that the complementary graph $\overline{G}$ is chordal.

We study the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of powers of edge ideals. We prove that if G is a bipartite graph, then reg(I(G)^s) \leq 2s + reg I(G) - 2 for all s \geq 2, which is the best possible upper bound for any s. Suspension plays a key role in proof of the base case s =2.
