We generalize the well-known "12" and "24" Theorems for reflexive polytopes of dimension 2 and 3 to any smooth reflexive polytope. Our methods apply to a wider category of objects, here called reflexive GKM graphs, that are associated with certain monotone symplectic manifolds which do not necessarily admit a toric action. As an application, we provide bounds on the Betti numbers for certain monotone Hamiltonian spaces which depend on the minimal Chern number of the manifold.
On the combinatorics of exact Lagrangian surfaces
We study Weinstein 4-manifolds which admit Lagrangian skeleta given by attaching disks to a surface along a collection of simple closed curves. In terms of the curves describing one such skeleton, we describe surgeries that preserve the ambient Weinstein manifold, but change the skeleton. The surgeries can be iterated to produce more such skeleta --- in many cases, infinitely many more.
Each skeleton is built around a Lagrangian surface. Passing to the Fukaya category, the skeletal surgeries induce cluster transformations on the spaces of rank one local systems on these surfaces, and noncommutative analogues of cluster transformations on the spaces of higher rank local systems. In particular, the problem of producing and distinguishing such Lagrangians maps to a combination of combinatorial-geometric questions about curve configurations on surfaces and algebraic questions about exchange graphs of cluster algebras.
Conversely, this expands the dictionary relating the cluster theory of character varieties, positroid strata, and related spaces to the symplectic geometry of Lagrangian fillings of Legendrian knots, by incorporating cluster charts more general than those associated to bicolored surface graphs.

Answering a question of Geoff Robinson, we compute the large n limiting proportion of i(n,q)/q^[n^2/2], where i(n,q) denotes the number of involutions in GL(n,q). We give similar results for the finite unitary, symplectic, and orthogonal groups, in both odd and even characteristic. At the heart of this work are certain new "sum=product" identities. Our self-contained treatment of the enumeration of involutions in even characteristic symplectic and orthogonal groups may also be of interest.
Graph parameters from symplectic group invariants

In this paper we introduce, and characterize, a class of graph parameters obtained from tensor invariants of the symplectic group. These parameters are similar to partition functions of vertex models, as introduced by de la Harpe and Jones, [P. de la Harpe, V.F.R. Jones, Graph invariants related to statistical mechanical models: examples and problems, Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series B 57 (1993) 207-227]. Yet they give a completely different class of graph invariants. We moreover show that certain evaluations of the cycle partition polynomial, as defined by Martin [P. Martin, Enumérations eulériennes dans les multigraphes et invariants de Tutte-Grothendieck, Diss. Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble-INPG; Université Joseph-Fourier-Grenoble I, 1977], give examples of graph parameters that can be obtained this way.

We consider discretisations of the Macdonald--Mehta integrals from the theory of finite reflection groups. For the classical groups, $\mathrm{A}_{r-1}$, $\mathrm{B}_r$ and $\mathrm{D}_r$, we provide closed-form evaluations in those cases for which the Weyl denominators featuring in the summands have exponents $1$ and $2$. Our proofs for the exponent-$1$ cases rely on identities for classical group characters, while most of the formulas for the exponent-$2$ cases are derived from a transformation formula for elliptic hypergeometric series for the root system $\mathrm{BC}_r$. As a byproduct of our results, we obtain closed-form product formulas for the (ordinary and signed) enumeration of orthogonal and symplectic tableaux contained in a box.

Layering $\partial$-Graphs and Networks
We consider the inverse problem for countable, locally finite electrical networks with edge weights in an arbitrary field. The electrical inverse problem seeks to determine the weights of the edges knowing only the potential and current data of harmonic functions on a set of boundary nodes. Motivated by the results of Curtis-Ingerman-Morrow and de-Verdiere-Gitler-Vertigan and others, we formalize the idea of using layer-stripping and harmonic continuation to solve the inverse problem. Our strategy is to iteratively recover "vulnerable" edges near the boundary, then remove them by deletion or contraction. To recover the vulnerable edge, we set up a clever boundary value problem and solve it using discrete harmonic continuation.
We define "scaffolds," a set of oriented edges that models the flow of information in harmonic continuation. We formulate a sufficient geometric condition ("recoverability by scaffolds") for the inverse problem to be solvable using the layer-stripping strategy. Recoverability by scaffolds is preserved under box products, harmonic subgraphs, covering graphs, and more generally under preimages by unramified harmonic morphisms. For critical circular planar graphs, we prove recoverability by scaffolds using the medial graph.
We also connect the harmonic continuation process to Baez-Fong's compositional framework for networks and Lam-Pylyavskyy's electrical linear group. We use this to generalize results of Curtis-Ingerman-Morrow and de-Verdiere-Gitler-Vertigan relating the size of connections through the graph and the rank of submatrices of the response matrix. We give a symplectic characterization of the boundary behavior for networks and the electrical linear group, valid for fields other than $\mathbb{F}_2$. Many of our results also generalize to the nonlinear networks such as those of Johnson.
Counting curves on surfaces

In this paper we consider an elementary, and largely unexplored, combinatorial problem in low-dimensional topology. Consider a real 2-dimensional compact surface $S$, and fix a number of points $F$ on its boundary. We ask: how many configurations of disjoint arcs are there on $S$ whose boundary is $F$?
We find that this enumerative problem, counting curves on surfaces, has a rich structure. For instance, we show that the curve counts obey an effective recursion, in the general framework of topological recursion. Moreover, they exhibit quasi-polynomial behaviour.
This "elementary curve-counting" is in fact related to a more advanced notion of "curve-counting" from algebraic geometry or symplectic geometry. The asymptotics of this enumerative problem are closely related to the asymptotics of volumes of moduli spaces of curves, and the quasi-polynomials governing the enumerative problem encode intersection numbers on moduli spaces.
Furthermore, among several other results, we show that generating functions and differential forms for these curve counts exhibit structure that is reminiscent of the mathematical physics of free energies, partition functions, topological recursion, and quantum curves.
Partition functions of integrable lattice models and combinatorics of symmetric polynomials
We review and present new studies on the relation between the partition functions of integrable lattice models and symmetric polynomials, and its combinatorial representation theory based on the correspondence, including our work. In particular, we examine the correspondence between the wavefunctions of the XXZ type, Felderhof type and the boson type integrable models and symmetric polynomials such as the Schur, Grothendieck and symplectic Schur functions. We also give a brief report of our work on generalizing the correspondence between the Felderhof models and factorial Schur and symplectic Schur functions.

A note on corollaries to Tokuyama's Identity for symplectic Schur $Q$-Functions
We present some corollaries to a symplectic primed shifted tableaux version of Tokuyama's identity expressed in terms of other combinatorial constructs, namely generalised $U$-turn alternating sign matrices and strict symplectic Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns.

We prove a conjecture which expresses the bigraded Poisson-de Rham homology of the nilpotent cone of a semisimple Lie algebra in terms of the generalized (one-variable) Kostka polynomials, via a formula suggested by Lusztig. This allows us to construct a canonical family of filtrations on the flag variety cohomology, and hence on irreducible representations of the Weyl group, whose Hilbert series are given by the generalized Kostka polynomials. We deduce consequences for the cohomology of all Springer fibers. In particular, this computes the grading on the zeroth Poisson homology of all classical finite W-algebras, as well as the filtration on the zeroth Hochschild homology of all quantum finite W-algebras, and we generalize to all homology degrees. As a consequence, we deduce a conjecture of Proudfoot on symplectic duality, relating in type A the Poisson homology of Slodowy slices to the intersection cohomology of nilpotent orbit closures. In the last section, we give an analogue of our main theorem in the setting of mirabolic D-modules.
New examples of period collapse
"Period collapse" refers to any situation where the period of the Ehrhart function of a polytope is less than the denominator of that polytope. We study several interesting situations where this occurs, primarily involving triangles. For example: 1) we determine exactly when the Ehrhart function of a right triangle with legs on the axes and slant edge with irrational slope is a polynomial; 2) we find triangles with periods given by any even-index k-Fibonacci number, and larger denominators; 3) we construct several higher dimensional examples. Several related issues are also discussed, including connections with symplectic geometry.

We describe a method, based on the theory of Macdonald-Koornwinder polynomials, for proving bounded Littlewood identities. Our approach provides an alternative to Macdonald's partial fraction technique and results in the first examples of bounded Littlewood identities for Macdonald polynomials. These identities, which take the form of decomposition formulas for Macdonald polynomials of type $(R,S)$ in terms of ordinary Macdonald polynomials, are $q,t$-analogues of known branching formulas for characters of the symplectic, orthogonal and special orthogonal groups. In the classical limit, our method implies that MacMahon's famous ex-conjecture for the generating function of symmetric plane partitions in a box follows from the identification of $(\mathrm{GL}(n,\mathbb{R}),\mathrm{O}(n))$ as a Gelfand pair. As further applications, we obtain combinatorial formulas for characters of affine Lie algebras; Rogers-Ramanujan identities for affine Lie algebras, complementing recent results of Griffin et al.; and quadratic transformation formulas for Kaneko--Macdonald-type basic hypergeometric series.
A Nekrasov-Okounkov Type formula for $\widetilde{C}$
In 2008, Han rediscovered an expansion of powers of Dedekind $η$ function attributed to Nekrasov and Okounkov (which was actually first proved the same year by Westbury) by using a famous identity of Macdonald in the framework of type $\widetilde{A}$ affine root systems. In this paper, we obtain new combinatorial expansions of powers of $η$, in terms of partition hook lengths, by using the Macdonald identity in type $\widetilde{C}$ and a new bijection between vectors with integral coordinates and a subset of $t$-cores for integer partitions. As applications, we derive a symplectic hook formula and an unexpected relation between the Macdonald identities in types $\widetilde{C}$, $\widetilde{B}$, and $\widetilde{BC}$. We also generalize these expansions through the Littlewood decomposition and deduce in particular many new weighted generating functions for subsets of integer partitions and refinements of hook formulas.
A Nekrasov-Okounkov type formula for type C
In 2008, Han rediscovered an expansion of powers of Dedekind $η$ function due to Nekrasov and Okounkov by using Macdonald's identity in type $\widetilde{A}$. In this paper, we obtain new combinatorial expansions of powers of $η$, in terms of partition hook lengths, by using Macdonald's identity in type $\widetilde{C}$ and a new bijection. As applications, we derive a symplectic hook formula and a relation between Macdonald's identities in types $\widetilde{C}$, $\widetilde{B}$, and $\widetilde{BC}$.
A non-existence result on symplectic semifield spreads
We prove that there do not exist non-Desarguesian symplectic semifield spreads of PG$(5,q^2)$, $q\geq 2^{14}$ even, whose associated semifield has center containing $\mathbb{F}_q$, by proving that the only $\mathbb{F}_q$-linear set of rank 6 disjoint from the secant variety of the quadric Veronese variety of PG$(5,q^2)$ is a plane with three points of the Veronese surface of PG$(5,q^6)\setminus$PG$(5,q^2)$.

We give a new proof for the fact that the number of torus fixed points for the degenerated flag variety is equal to the normalized median Genocchi number, using the identification with a certain Schubert variety. We further study the torus fixed points for the symplectic degenerated flag variety and develop a combinatorial model, symplectic Dellac configurations, so parametrize them. The number of these symplectic fixed points is conjectured to be the median Euler number.

We prove a determinantal formula and Pfaffian formulas that respectively describe the $K$-theoretic degeneracy loci classes for Grassmann bundles and for symplectic Grassmann and odd orthogonal bundles. The former generalizes Damon--Kempf--Laksov's determinantal formula and the latter generalize Pragacz--Kazarian's formula for the Chow ring. As an application, we introduce the factorial $GΘ/ GΘ'$-functions representing the torus equivariant $K$-theoretic Schubert classes of the symplectic and the odd orthogonal Grassmannians, which generalize the (double) theta polynomials of Buch--Kresch--Tamvakis and Tamvakis--Wilson.
Combinatorics of symplectic invariant tensors

An important problem from invariant theory is to describe the subspace of a tensor power of a representation invariant under the action of the group. According to Weyl's classic, the first main (later: 'fundamental') theorem of invariant theory states that all invariants are expressible in terms of a finite number among them, whereas a second main theorem determines the relations between those basic invariants.
Here we present a transparent, combinatorial proof of a second fundamental theorem for the defining representation of the symplectic group Sp(2n). Our formulation is completely explicit and provides a very precise link to (n+1)-noncrossing perfect matchings, going beyond a dimension count. As a corollary, we obtain an instance of the cyclic sieving phenomenon.
