Integer points enumerator of hypergraphic polytopes
For a hypergraphic polytope there is a weighted quasisymmetric function which enumerates positive integer points in its normal fan and determines its f-polynomial. This quasisymmetric function invariant of hypergraphs extends the Stanley chromatic symmetric function of simple graphs. We consider a certain combinatorial Hopf algebra of hypergraphs and show that universal morphism to quasisymmetric functions coincides with this enumerator function.
A Hopf algebra on subgraphs of a graph
In this paper, we construct a bialgebraic and further a Hopf algebraic structure on top of subgraphs of a given graph. Further, we give the dual structure of this Hopf algebraic structure. We study the algebra morphisms induced by graph homomorphisms, and obtain a covariant functor from a graph category to an algebra category.
Generators, projectors, and the Jones-Wenzl algebra
We investigate a subalgebra of the Temperley-Lieb algebra called the Jones-Wenzl algebra, which is obtained by action of certain Jones-Wenzl projectors. This algebra arises naturally in applications to conformal field theory and statistical physics. It is also the commutant (centralizer) algebra of the Hopf algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ on its type-one modules - this fact is a generalization of the $q$-Schur-Weyl duality of Jimbo. In this article, we find two minimal generating sets for the Jones-Wenzl algebra. In special cases, we also find all of the independent relations satisfied by these generators.

Typed decorated trees are used by Bruned, Hairer and Zambotti to give a description of a renormalisation processon stochastic PDEs. We here study the algebraic structures on these objects: multiple prelie algebrasand related operads (generalizing a result by Chapoton and Livernet), noncommutative and cocommutative Hopf algebras (generalizing Grossman and Larson's construction),commutative and noncocommutative Hopf algebras (generalizing Connes and Kreimer's construction),bialgebras in cointeraction (generalizing Calaque, Ebrahimi-Fard and Manchon's result). We also define families of morphisms and in particular we prove that any Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebraof typed and decorated trees is isomorphic to a Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of non--typed and decoratedtrees (the set of decorations of vertices being bigger), through a contraction process, and finally obtain the Bruned-Hairer-Zambotti construction as a subquotient.
Matroid-minor Hopf algebra: a cancellation-free antipode formula and other applications of sign-reversing involutions
In this paper, we give a cancellation-free antipode formula for the matroid-minor Hopf algebra. We then explore applications of this formula. For example, the cancellation-free formula expresses the antipode of uniform matroids as a sum over certain ordered set partitions. We also prove that all matroids over any hyperfield (in the sense of Baker and Bowler) have cancellation-free antipode formulas; furthermore, the cancellations in the antipode are independent of the hyperfield structure and only depend on the underlying matroid.

This article serves as an introduction to several recent developments in the study of quasisymmetric functions. The focus of this survey is on connections between quasisymmetric functions and the combinatorial Hopf algebra of noncommutative symmetric functions, appearances of quasisymmetric functions within the theory of Macdonald polynomials, and analogues of symmetric functions. Topics include the significance of quasisymmetric functions in representation theory (such as representations of the 0-Hecke algebra), recently discovered bases (including analogues of well-studied symmetric function bases), and applications to open problems in symmetric function theory.
Pattern groups and a poset based Hopf monoid

The supercharacter theory of algebra groups gave us a representation theoretic realization of the Hopf algebra of symmetric functions in noncommuting variables. The underlying representation theoretic framework comes equipped with two canonical bases, one of which was completely new in terms of symmetric functions. This paper simultaneously generalizes this Hopf structure by considering a larger class of groups while also restricting the representation theory to a more combinatorially tractable one. Using the normal lattice supercharacter theory of pattern groups, we not only gain a third canonical basis, but also are able to compute numerous structure constants in the corresponding Hopf monoid, including coproducts and antipodes for the new bases.

We present an expository overview of the monoidal structures in the category of linearly compact vector spaces. Bimonoids in this category are the natural duals of infinite-dimensional bialgebras. We classify the relations on words whose equivalence classes generate linearly compact bialgebras under shifted shuffling and deconcatenation. We also extend some of the theory of combinatorial Hopf algebras to bialgebras that are not connected or of finite graded dimension. Finally, we discuss several examples of quasi-symmetric functions, not necessarily of bounded degree, that may be constructed via terminal properties of combinatorial bialgebras.
Weak order and descents for monotone triangles

Monotone triangles are a rich extension of permutations that biject with alternating sign matrices. The notions of weak order and descent sets for permutations are generalized here to monotone triangles, and shown to enjoy many analogous properties. It is shown that any linear extension of the weak order gives rise to a shelling order on a poset, recently introduced by Terwilliger, whose maximal chains biject with monotone triangles; among these shellings are a family of EL-shellings.
The weak order turns out to encode an action of the 0-Hecke monoid of type A on the monotone triangles, generalizing the usual bubble-sorting action on permutations. It also leads to a notion of descent set for monotone triangles, having another natural property: the surjective algebra map from the Malvenuto- Reutenauer Hopf algebra of permutations into quasisymmetric functions extends in a natural way to an algebra map out of the recently-defined Cheballah-Giraudo-Maurice algebra of alternating sign matrices.
Bialgebras for Stanley symmetric functions

We construct a non-commutative, non-cocommutative, graded bialgebra $\mathbfΠ$ with a basis indexed by the permutations in all finite symmetric groups. Unlike the formally similar Malvenuto-Poirier-Reutenauer Hopf algebra, this bialgebra does not have finite graded dimension. After giving formulas for the product and coproduct, we show that there is a natural morphism from $\mathbfΠ$ to the algebra of quasi-symmetric functions, under which the image of a permutation is its associated Stanley symmetric function. As an application, we use this morphism to derive some new enumerative identities. We also describe analogues of $\mathbfΠ$ for the other classical types. In these cases, the relevant objects are module coalgebras rather than bialgebras, but there are again natural morphisms to the quasi-symmetric functions, under which the image of a signed permutation is the corresponding Stanley symmetric function of type B, C, or D.

The Malvenuto-Reutenauer algebra is a well-studied combinatorial Hopf algebra with a basis indexed by permutations. This algebra contains a wide variety of interesting sub Hopf algebras, in particular the Hopf algebra of plane binary trees introduced by Loday and Ronco. We compare two general constructions of subalgebras of the Malvenuto-Reutenauer algebra, both of which include the Loday-Ronco algebra. The first is a construction by Reading defined in terms of lattice quotients of the weak order, and the second is a construction by Ronco in terms of graph associahedra. To make this comparison, we consider a natural partial ordering on the maximal tubings of a graph and characterize those graphs for which this poset is a lattice quotient of the weak order.

We introduce a notion of antipode for monoidal (complete) decomposition spaces, inducing a notion of weak antipode for their incidence bialgebras. In the connected case, this recovers the usual notion of antipode in Hopf algebras. In the non-connected case it expresses an inversion principle of more limited scope, but still sufficient to compute the Möbius function as $μ= ζ\circ S$, just as in Hopf algebras. At the level of decomposition spaces, the weak antipode takes the form of a formal difference of linear endofunctors $S_{\textrm{even}} - S_{\textrm{odd}}$, and it is a refinement of the general Möbius inversion construction of Gálvez-Kock-Tonks, but exploiting the monoidal structure.

This paper introduces a Hopf algebra structure on a family of reduced pipe dreams. We show that this Hopf algebra is free and cofree, and construct a surjection onto a commutative Hopf algebra of permutations. The pipe dream Hopf algebra contains Hopf subalgebras with interesting sets of generators and Hilbert series related to subsequences of Catalan numbers. Three other relevant Hopf subalgebras include the Loday-Ronco Hopf algebra on complete binary trees, a Hopf algebra related to a special family of lattice walks on the quarter plane, and a Hopf algebra on $ν$-trees related to $ν$-Tamari lattices. One of this Hopf subalgebras motivates a new notion of Hopf chains in the Tamari lattice, which are used to present applications and conjectures in the theory of multivariate diagonal harmonics.

We construct a Hopf algebra on integer binary relations that contains under the same roof several well-known Hopf algebras related to the permutahedra and the associahedra: the Malvenuto-Reutenauer algebra on permutations, the Loday-Ronco algebra on planar binary trees, and the Chapoton algebras on ordered partitions and on Schröder trees. We also derive from our construction new Hopf structures on intervals of the weak order on permutations and of the Tamari order on binary trees.
$P$-Partition Generating Function Equivalence of Naturally Labeled Posets

The $P$-partition generating function of a (naturally labeled) poset $P$ is a quasisymmetric function enumerating order-preserving maps from $P$ to $\mathbb{Z}^+$. Using the Hopf algebra of posets, we give necessary conditions for two posets to have the same generating function. In particular, we show that they must have the same number of antichains of each size, as well as the same shape (as defined by Greene). We also discuss which shapes guarantee uniqueness of the $P$-partition generating function and give a method of constructing pairs of non-isomorphic posets with the same generating function.

This thesis provides an extension of the work of Dirk Kreimer and Alain Connes on the Hopf algebra structure of Feynman graphs and renormalization to general graphs. Additionally, an algebraic structure of the asymptotics of formal power series with factorial growth, which is compatible with the Hopf algebraic structure, is introduced.
The Hopf algebraic structure on graphs permits the explicit enumeration of graphs with constraints for the allowed subgraphs. In the case of Feynman diagrams a lattice structure, which will be introduced, exposes additional unique properties for physical quantum field theories. The differential ring of factorially divergent power series allows the extraction of asymptotic results of implicitly defined power series with vanishing radius of convergence. Together both structures provide an algebraic formulation of large graphs with constraints on the allowed subgraphs. These structures are motivated by and used to analyze renormalized zero-dimensional quantum field theory at high orders in perturbation theory.
As a pure application of the Hopf algebra structure, an Hopf algebraic interpretation of the Legendre transformation in quantum field theory is given. The differential ring of factorially divergent power series will be used to solve two asymptotic counting problems from combinatorics: The asymptotic number of connected chord diagrams and the number of simple permutations. For both asymptotic solutions, all order asymptotic expansions are provided as generating functions in closed form. Both structures are combined in an application to zero-dimensional quantum field theory. Various quantities are explicitly given asymptotically in the zero-dimensional version of $\varphi^3$, $\varphi^4$, QED, quenched QED and Yukawa theory with their all order asymptotic expansions.

A detailed expose of the Hopf algebra approach to interconnected input-output systems in nonlinear control theory is presented. The focus is on input-output systems that can been represented in terms of Chen-Fliess functional expansions or Fliess operators. This provides a starting point for a discrete-time version of this theory. In particular, the notion of a discrete-time Fliess operator is given and a class of parallel interconnections is described.

This paper examines the category $\mathbf{Mat}_{\bullet}$ of pointed matroids and strong maps from the point of view of Hall algebras. We show that $\mathbf{Mat}_{\bullet}$ has the structure of a finitary proto-exact category - a non-additive generalization of exact category due to Dyckerhoff-Kapranov. We define the algebraic K-theory $K_* (\mathbf{Mat}_{\bullet})$ of $\mathbf{Mat}_{\bullet}$ via the Waldhausen construction, and show that it is non-trivial, by exhibiting injections $$π^s_n (\mathbb{S}) \hookrightarrow K_n (\mathbf{Mat}_{\bullet})$$ from the stable homotopy groups of spheres for all $n$. Finally, we show that the Hall algebra of $\mathbf{Mat}_{\bullet}$ is a Hopf algebra dual to Schmitt's matroid-minor Hopf algebra.
Eulerian polynomials on segmented permutations
We define a generalization of the Eulerian polynomials and the Eulerian numbers by considering a descent statistic on segmented permutations coming from the study of 2-species exclusion processes and a change of basis in a Hopf algebra. We give some properties satisfied by these generalized Eulerian numbers. We also define a $q$-analog of these Eulerian polynomials which gives back usual Eulerian polynomials and ordered Bell polynomials for specific values of its variables. We also define a noncommutative analog living in the algebra of segmented compositions. It gives us an explicit generating function and some identities satisfied by the generalized Eulerian polynomials such as a Worpitzky-type relation.
Cylindric symmetric functions and positivity

We introduce new families of cylindric symmetric functions as subcoalgebras in the ring of symmetric functions $Λ$ (viewed as a Hopf algebra) which have non-negative structure constants. Combinatorially these cylindric symmetric functions are defined as weighted sums over cylindric reverse plane partitions or - alternatively - in terms of sets of affine permutations. We relate their combinatorial definition to an algebraic construction in terms of the principal Heisenberg subalgebra of the affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{\widehat{sl}}_n$ and a specialised cyclotomic Hecke algebra. Using Schur-Weyl duality we show that the new cylindric symmetric functions arise as matrix elements of Lie algebra elements in the subspace of symmetric tensors of a particular level-0 module which can be identified with the small quantum cohomology ring of the $k$-fold product of projective space. The analogous construction in the subspace of alternating tensors gives the known set of cylindric Schur functions which are related to the small quantum cohomology ring of Grassmannians. We prove that cylindric Schur functions form a subcoalgebra in $Λ$ whose structure constants are the 3-point genus 0 Gromov-Witten invariants. We show that the new families of cylindric functions obtained from the subspace of symmetric tensors also share the structure constants of a symmetric Frobenius algebra, which we define in terms of tensor multiplicities of the generalised symmetric group $G(n,1,k)$.
