In a recent pioneering work, Andrews and Newman defined an extended function $p_{A,a}(n)$ of their minimal excludant or "mex" of a partition function. By considering the special cases $p_{k,k}(n)$ and $p_{2k,k}(n)$, they unearthed connections to the rank and crank of partitions and some restricted partitions. In this paper, we build on their work and obtain more general results associating the extended mex function with the number of partitions of an integer with arbitrary bound on the rank and crank. We also derive a new result expressing the smallest parts function of Andrews as a finite sum of the extended mex function in consideration with a curious coefficient. We also obtain a few restricted partition identities with some reminiscent of shifted partition identities. Finally, we define and explore a new minimal excludant for overpartitions.

In 2017, Andrews, Dixit, Schultz and Yee introduced the function $\overline{\textrm{spt}}_ω(n)$, which denotes the number of smallest parts in the overpartitions of $n$ in which the smallest part is always overlined and all odd parts are less than twice the smallest part. Recently, Baruah and Begum established several internal congruences and congruences modulo small powers of $5$ for $\overline{\textrm{spt}}_ω(n)$. Moreover, they conjectured a family of internal congruences modulo any powers of $5$ and two families of congruences modulo any even powers of $5$. In this paper, we confirm three families of congruences due to Baruah and Begum.

The study of Ramanujan-type congruences for functions specific to additive number theory has a long and rich history. Motivated by recent connections between divisor sums and overpartitions via congruences in arithmetic progressions, we investigate the existence and classification of Ramanujan-type congruences for functions in multiplicative number theory.

We introduce a statistic on overpartitions called the $\overline{k}$-rank. When there are no overlined parts, this coincides with the $k$-rank of a partition introduced by Garvan. Moreover, it reduces to the D-rank of an overpartition when $k=2$. The generating function for the $\overline{k}$-rank of overpartitions is given. We also establish a relation between the generating function of self-3-conjugate overpartitions and the tenth order mock theta functions $X(q)$ and $χ(q)$.
Stanley--Elder--Fine theorems for colored partitions
We give a new proof of a partition theorem popularly known as Elder's theorem, but which is also credited to Stanley and Fine. We extend the theorem to the context of colored partitions (or prefabs). More specifically, we give analogous results for $b$-colored partitions, where each part occurs in $b$ colors; for $b$-colored partitions with odd parts (or distinct parts); for partitions where the part $k$ comes in $k$ colors; and, overpartitions.
Overpartitions and functions from multiplicative number theory
Let $α$ and $β$ be two nonnegative integers such that $β< α$. For an arbitrary sequence $\{a_n\}_{n\geqslant 1}$ of complex numbers, we consider the generalized Lambert series in order to investigate linear combinations of the form $\sum_{k\geqslant 1} S(αk-β,n) a_k$, where $S(k,n)$ is the total number of non-overlined parts equal to $k$ in all the overpartitions of $n$. The general nature of the numbers $a_n$ allows us to provide connections between overpartitions and functions from multiplicative number theory.

George Andrews and Ae Ja Yee recently established beautiful results involving bivariate generalizations of the third order mock theta functions $ω(q)$ and $ν(q)$, thereby extending their earlier results with the second author. Generalizing the Andrews-Yee identities for trivariate generalizations of these mock theta functions remained a mystery, as pointed out by Li and Yang in their recent work. We partially solve this problem and generalize these identities. Several new as well as well-known results are derived. For example, one of our two main theorems gives, as a corollary, a special case of Soon-Yi Kang's three-variable reciprocity theorem. A relation between a new restricted overpartition function $p^{*}(n)$ and a weighted partition function $p_*(n)$ is obtained from one of the special cases of our second theorem.
Weighted words at degree two, I: Bressoud's algorithm as an energy transfer

In a recent paper, we generalized a partition identity stated by Siladić in his study of the level one standard module of type $A_2^{(2)}$. The proof used weighted words with an arbitrary number of primary colors and all the secondary colors obtained from these primary colors, and a brand new variant of the bijection of Bressoud for Schur's partition identity. In this paper, the first of two, we analyze this variant of Bressoud's algorithm in the framework of statistical mechanics, where an integer partition is viewed as an amount of energy shared, according to certain properties, between several states. This viewpoint allows us to generalize the previous result by considering a more general family of minimal difference conditions. For example, we generalize the Siladić identity to overpartitions. In the second paper, we connect this result to the Glaisher theorem and give some applications to level one perfect crystals.

We consider $(k,j)$-colored partitions, partitions in which $k$ colors exist but at most $j$ colors may be chosen per size of part. In particular these generalize overpartitions. Advancing previous work, we find new congruences, including in previously unexplored cases where $k$ and $j$ are not coprime, as well as some noncongruences. As a useful aside, we give the apparently new generating function for the number of partitions in the $N \times M$ box with a given number of part sizes, and extend to multiple colors a conjecture of Dousse and Kim on unimodality in overpartitions.
Limit Shapes for Unimodal Sequences

We prove asymptotic 0-1 Laws satisfied by diagrams of unimodal sequences of positive integers. These diagrams consist of columns of squares in the plane, and the upper boundary is called the shape. For various types, we show that, as the number of squares tends to infinity, $100\%$ of shapes are near a certain curve---that is, there is a single {\it limit shape}. Similar phenomena have been well-studied for integer partitions, so the present work is a natural extension. One notable corollary is a transferred limit shape for overpartitions.

The main objective of this paper is to present an answer to Bressoud's conjecture for the case $j=0$, resulting in a complete solution to the conjecture. The case for $j=1$ has been recently resolved by Kim. Using the connection established in our previous paper between the ordinary partition function $B_0$ and the overpartition function $\overline{B}_1$, we found that the proof of Bressoud's conjecture for the case $j=0$ is equivalent to establishing an overpartition analogue of the conjecture for $j=1$. By generalizing Kim's method, we obtain the desired overpartition analogue of Bressoud's conjecture for $j=1$, which eventually enables us to confirm Bressoud's conjecture for the case $j=0$.
Finding Modular Functions for Ramanujan-Type Identities

This paper is concerned with a class of partition functions $a(n)$ introduced by Radu and defined in terms of eta-quotients. By utilizing the transformation laws of Newman, Schoeneberg and Robins, and Radu's algorithms, we present an algorithm to find Ramanujan-type identities for $a(mn+t)$. While this algorithm is not guaranteed to succeed, it applies to many cases. For example, we deduce a witness identity for $p(11n+6)$ with integer coefficients. Our algorithm also leads to Ramanujan-type identities for the overpartition functions $\overline{p}(5n+2)$ and $\overline{p}(5n+3)$ and Andrews--Paule's broken $2$-diamond partition functions $\triangle_{2}(25n+14)$ and $\triangle_{2}(25n+24)$. It can also be extended to derive Ramanujan-type identities on a more general class of partition functions. For example, it yields the Ramanujan-type identities on Andrews' singular overpartition functions $\overline{Q}_{3,1}(9n+3)$ and $ \overline{Q}_{3,1}(9n+6)$ due to Shen, the $2$-dissection formulas of Ramanujan and the $8$-dissection formulas due to Hirschhorn.

In 1980, Bressoud conjectured a combinatorial identity $A_j=B_j$ for $j=0$ or $1$, where the function $A_j$ counts the number of partitions with certain congruence conditions and the function $B_j$ counts the number of partitions with certain difference conditions. Bressoud's conjecture specializes to a wide variety of well-known theorems in the theory of partitions. Special cases of his conjecture have been subsequently proved by Bressoud, Andrews, Kim and Yee. Recently, Kim resolved Bressoud's conjecture for the case $j=1$. In this paper, we introduce a new partition function $\bar{B}_j$ which can be viewed as an overpartition analogue of the partition function $B_j$ introduced by Bressoud. By means of Gordon markings, we build bijections to obtain a relationship between $\bar{B}_1$ and $B_0$ and a relationship between $\bar{B}_0$ and $B_1$. Based on these former relationships, we further give overpartition analogues of many classical partition theorems including Euler's partition theorem, the Rogers-Ramanujan-Gordon identities, the Bressoud-Rogers-Ramanujan identities, the Andrews-Göllnitz-Gordon identities and the Bressoud-Göllnitz-Gordon identities.
A simple proof of a congruence for a series involving the little $q$-Jacobi polynomials
We give a simple and a more explicit proof of a mod $4$ congruence for a series involving the little $q$-Jacobi polynomials which arose in a recent study of a certain restricted overpartition function.
Colored partitions and the hooklength formula: partition statistic identities
We give relations between the joint distributions of multiple hook lengths and of frequencies and part sizes in partitions, extending prior work in this area. These results are discovered by investigating truncations of the Han/Nekrasov-Okounkov hooklength formula and of (k,j)-colored partitions, a unification of k-colored partitions and overpartitions. We establish the observed relations at the constant and linear terms for all n, and for j=2 in their quadratic term, with the associated hook/frequency identities. Further results of this type seem likely.
The Unimodality of the Crank on Overpartitions
Let $N(m,n)$ denote the number of partitions of $n$ with rank $m$, and let $M(m,n)$ denote the number of partitions of $n$ with crank $m$. Chan and Mao proved that for any nonnegative integers $m$ and $n$, $N(m,n)\geq N(m+2,n)$ and for any nonnegative integers $m$ and $n$ such that $n\geq12$, $n\neq m+2$, $N(m,n)\geq N(m,n-1)$. Recently, Ji and Zang showed that for $n\geq 44$ and $1\leq m\leq n-1$, $M(m-1,n)\geq M(m,n)$ and for $n\geq 14$ and $0\leq m\leq n-2$, $M(m,n)\geq M(m,n-1)$. In this paper, we analogue the result of Ji and Zang to overpartitions. Note that Bringmann, Lovejoy and Osburn introduced two type of cranks on overpartitions, namely the first residue crank and the second residue crank. Consequently, for the first residue crank $\overline{M}(m,n)$, we show that $\overline{M}(m-1,n)\geq \overline{M}(m,n)$ for $m\geq 1$ and $n\geq 3$ and $\overline{M}(m,n)\geq \overline{M}(m,n+1)$ for $m\geq 0$ and $n\geq 1$. For the second residue crank $\overline{M2}(m,n)$, we show that $\overline{M2}(m-1,n)\geq \overline{M2}(m,n)$ for $m\geq 1$ and $n\geq 0$ and $\overline{M2}(m,n)\geq \overline{M2}(m,n+1)$ for $m\geq 0$ and $n\geq 1$. Moreover, let $M_k(m,n)$ denote the number of $k$-colored partitions of $n$ with $k$-crank $m$, which was defined by Fu and Tang. They conjectured that when $k\geq 2$, $M_k(m-1,n)\geq M_k(m,n)$ except for $k=2$ and $n=1$. With the aid of the inequality $\overline{M}(m-1,n)\geq \overline{M}(m,n)$ for $m\geq 1$ and $n\geq 3$, we confirm this conjecture.

Let $\overline{p}(n)$ denote the overpartition funtion. Engel showed that for $n\geq2$, $\overline{p}(n)$ satisfied the Turán inequalities, that is, $\overline{p}(n)^2-\overline{p}(n-1)\overline{p}(n+1)>0$ for $n\geq2$. In this paper, we prove several inequalities for $\overline{p}(n)$. Moreover, motivated by the work of Chen, Jia and Wang, we find that the higher order Turán inequalities of $\overline{p}(n)$ can also be determined.
Monotonicity properties for ranks of overpartitions

The rank of partitions play an important role in the combinatorial interpretations of several Ramanujan's famous congruence formulas. In 2005 and 2008, the $D$-rank and $M_2$-rank of an overpartition were introduced by Lovejoy, respectively. Let $\overline{N}(m,n)$ and $\overline{N2}(m,n)$ denote the number of overpartitions of $n$ with $D$-rank $m$ and $M_2$-rank $m$, respectively. In 2014, Chan and Mao proposed a conjecture on monotonicity properties of $\overline{N}(m,n)$ and $\overline{N2}(m,n)$. In this paper, we prove the Chan-Mao monotonicity conjecture. To be specific, we show that for any integer $m$ and nonnegative integer $n$, $\overline{N2}(m,n)\leq \overline{N2}(m,n+1)$; and for $(m,n)\neq (0,4)$ with $n\neq\, |m| +2$, we have $\overline{N}(m,n)\leq \overline{N}(m,n+1)$. Furthermore, when $m$ increases, we prove that $\overline{N}(m,n)\geq \overline{N}(m+2,n)$ and $\overline{N2}(m,n)\geq \overline{N2}(m+2,n)$ for any $m,n\geq 0$, which is an analogue of Chan and Mao's result for partitions.
$M_2$-Ranks of overpartitions modulo $6$ and $10$

In this paper, we obtain inequalities on $M_2$-ranks of overpartitions modulo $6$. Let $\overline{N}_2(s,m,n)$ to be the number of overpartitions of $n$ whose $M_2$-rank is congruent to $s$ modulo $m$. For $M_2$-ranks modulo $3$, Lovejoy and Osburn derived the generating function of $\overline{N}_2(s,3,n)-\overline{N}_2(t,3,n)$, which implies the inequalities $\overline{N}_2(0,3,n)\geq\overline{N}_2(1,3,n)$. For $\ell=6, 10$, we consider the generating function $\overline{R}_{s,t}(d,\ell)$ of the $M_2$-rank differences $\overline{N}_2(s,\ell,\ell n/2+d) + \overline{N}_2(s+1,\ell,\ell n/2+d) - \overline{N}_2(t,\ell,\ell n/2+d) - \overline{N}_2(t+1,\ell,\ell n/2+d)$. By the method of Lovejoy and Osburn, we derive a formula for $\overline{R}_{0,2}(d,6)$. This leads to the inequalities for $n\geq0$, $\overline{N}_2(0,6,3n)\geq\overline{N}_2(2,6,3n)$ and $\overline{N}_2(0,6,3n+1) \geq \overline{N}_2(2,6,3n+1)$. Based on the valence formula for modular functions, we compute $\overline{R}_{0,4}(d,10)$ and $\overline{R}_{1,3}(d,10)$. In particular, we notice that the generating function $\overline{R}_{0,2}(2,6)$ can be expressed in terms of the third order mock theta function $ρ(q)$, and the generating functions $\overline{R}_{0,4}(4,10)$, $\overline{R}_{1,3}(1,10)$ and $\overline{R}_{1,3}(4,10)$ can also be expressed in terms of the tenth order mock theta functions $φ(q)$ and $ψ(q)$.
