An Upper Bound Theorem concerning lattice polytopes
R. P. Stanley proved the Upper Bound Conjecture in 1975. We imitate his proof for the Ehrhart rings. We give some upper bounds for the volume of integrally closed lattice polytopes. We derive some inequalities for the delta-vector of integrally closed lattice polytopes. Finally we apply our results for reflexive integrally closed and order polytopes.

Stanley (1986) showed how a finite partially ordered set gives rise to two polytopes, called the order polytope and chain polytope, which have the same Ehrhart polynomial despite being quite different combinatorially. We generalize his result to a wider family of polytopes constructed from a poset P with integers assigned to some of its elements.
Through this construction, we explain combinatorially the relationship between the Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes (1950) and the Feigin-Fourier-Littelmann polytopes (2010), which arise in the representation theory of the special linear Lie algebra. We then use the generalized Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes of Berenstein and Zelevinsky (1989) to propose conjectural analogues of the Feigin-Fourier-Littelmann polytopes corresponding to the symplectic and odd orthogonal Lie algebras.

For a d-dimensional convex lattice polytope P, a formula for the boundary volume is derived in terms of the number of boundary lattice points on the first $\floor{d/2}$ dilations of P. As an application we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a polytope to be reflexive, and derive formulae for the f-vector of a smooth polytope in dimensions 3, 4, and 5. We also give applications to reflexive order polytopes, and to the Birkhoff polytope.
Lower Bounds for Real Solutions to Sparse Polynomial Systems

We show how to construct sparse polynomial systems that have non-trivial lower bounds on their numbers of real solutions. These are unmixed systems associated to certain polytopes. For the order polytope of a poset P this lower bound is the sign-imbalance of P and it holds if all maximal chains of P have length of the same parity. This theory also gives lower bounds in the real Schubert calculus through sagbi degeneration of the Grassmannian to a toric variety, and thus recovers a result of Eremenko and Gabrielov.
Weak order complexes
The paper presents geometric models for the set WO of weak orders on a finite set. In particulary, WO is modeled as a set of vertices of a cubical subdivision of a permutahedron. This approach is an alternative to the usual representation of WO by means of weak order polytopes.
