Ehrhart positivity for marked order polytopes
Given a pair of finite posets $A \subseteq P$, the function counting integer-valued order preserving extensions of an order preserving map $λ: A\rightarrow \mathbb{Z}$ is given by a piecewise polynomial in $λ$. We provide a criterion for the nonnegativity of the coefficients of these multivariate polynomials and apply it to show that marked order polytopes of skew shapes are Ehrhart positive in a multivariate sense. This extends recent results of Ferroni-Morales-Panova on order polytopes of skew shapes and proves conjectures on the Ehrhart positivity of skew Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes and $m$-generalized Pitman-Stanley polytopes due to Alexanderson-Alhajjar and Dugan-Hegarty-Morales-Raymond, respectively.

On the number of faces of marked order polytopes
Published • View Publication • BIB
In this paper, we present a new method for computing the f-vector of a marked order polytope. Namely, given an arbitrary (polyhedral) subdivision of an arbitrary convex polytope, we construct a cochain complex (over the two-element field Z_2) such that the dimensions of its cohomology groups equal the components of the f-vector of the original polytope. In the case of a marked order polytope and its well-known cubosimplicial subdivision, this cochain complex can be described purely combinatorially -- which yields the said computation of the f-vector. Of independent interest may be our combinatorial description of the said cubosimplicial subdivision (which was originally constructed geometrically).

2-levelness of Marked Poset Polytopes and the Ehrhart polynomial
It is already known that order polytopes and chain polytopes are always 2-level polytopes. In general, this is not true for marked order and marked chain polytopes. We study the geometry of marked order polytopes, marked chain polytopes, and marked chain-order polytopes, providing a comprehensive characterisation of 2-levelness for these polytopes. Furthermore, we present an exact formula for the Ehrhart polynomial of marked order polytopes. Because of their connection to marked chain and marked chain-order polytopes, this polynomial is also the Ehrhart polynomial of these polytopes.

Newton-Okounkov polytopes of flag varieties and marked chain-order polytopes
Published • View Publication • BIB
Marked chain-order polytopes are convex polytopes constructed from a marked poset, which give a discrete family relating a marked order polytope with a marked chain polytope. In this paper, we consider the Gelfand-Tsetlin poset of type A, and realize the associated marked chain-order polytopes as Newton-Okounkov bodies of the flag variety. Our realization connects previous realizations of Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes and Feigin-Fourier-Littelmann-Vinberg polytopes as Newton-Okounkov bodies in a uniform way. As an application, we prove that the flag variety degenerates into the irreducible normal projective toric variety corresponding to a marked chain-order polytope. We also construct a specific basis of an irreducible highest weight representation which is naturally parametrized by the set of lattice points in a marked chain-order polytope.
Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes: a story of flow and order polytopes
Published • View Publication • BIB
Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes are prominent objects in algebraic combinatorics. The number of integer points of the Gelfand-Tsetlin polytope $\mathrm{GT}(λ)$ is equal to the dimension of the corresponding irreducible representation of $GL(n)$. It is well-known that the Gelfand-Tsetlin polytope is a marked order polytope; the authors have recently shown it to be a flow polytope. In this paper, we draw corollaries from this result and establish a general theory connecting marked order polytopes and flow polytopes.

Marked chain-order polytopes

We introduce in this paper the marked chain-order polytopes associated to a marked poset, generalizing the marked chain polytopes and marked order polytopes by putting them as extremal cases in an Ehrhart equivalent family. Some combinatorial properties of these polytopes are studied. This work is motivated by the framework of PBW degenerations in representation theory of Lie algebras.

Marked poset polytopes: Minkowski sums, indecomposables, and unimodular equivalence
Published • View Publication • BIB
We analyze marked poset polytopes and generalize a result due to Hibi and Li, answering whether the marked chain polytope is unimodular equivalent to the marked order polytope. Both polytopes appear naturally in the representation theory of semi-simple Lie algebras, and hence we can give a necessary and sufficient condition on the marked poset such that the associated toric degenerations of the corresponding partial flag variety are isomorphic. We further show that the set of lattice points in such a marked poset polytope is the Minkowski sum of sets of lattice points for 0-1 polytopes. Moreover, we provide a decomposition of the marked poset into indecomposable marked posets, which respects this Minkowski sum decomposition for the marked chain polytopes polytopes.

Arithmetic of marked order polytopes, monotone triangle reciprocity, and partial colorings
Published • View Publication • BIB
For a poset P, a subposet A, and an order preserving map F from A into the real numbers, the marked order polytope parametrizes the order preserving extensions of F to P. We show that the function counting integral-valued extensions is a piecewise polynomial in F and we prove a reciprocity statement in terms of order-reversing maps. We apply our results to give a geometric proof of a combinatorial reciprocity for monotone triangles due to Fischer and Riegler (2011) and we consider the enumerative problem of counting extensions of partial graph colorings of Herzberg and Murty (2007).
