Upho lattices II: ways of realizing a core

A poset is called upper homogeneous, or "upho," if all of its principal order filters are isomorphic to the whole poset. In previous work of the first author, it was shown that each (finite-type N-graded) upho lattice has associated to it a finite graded lattice, called its core, which determines the rank generating function of the upho lattice. In that prior work the question of which finite graded lattices arise as cores was explored. Here, we study the question of in how many different ways a given finite graded lattice can be realized as the core of an upho lattice. We show that if the finite lattice has no nontrivial automorphisms, then it is the core of finitely many upho lattices. We also show that the number of ways a finite lattice can be realized as a core is unbounded, even when restricting to rank-two lattices. We end with a discussion of a potential algorithm for listing all the ways to realize a given finite lattice as a core.

A poset is called upper homogeneous, or "upho," if every principal order filter of the poset is isomorphic to the whole poset. We study (finite type $\mathbb{N}$-graded) upho lattices, with an eye towards their classification. Any upho lattice has associated to it a finite graded lattice called its core, which determines its rank generating function. We investigate which finite graded lattices arise as cores of upho lattices, providing both positive and negative results. On the one hand, we show that many well-studied finite lattices do arise as cores, and we present combinatorial and algebraic constructions of the upho lattices into which they embed. On the other hand, we show there are obstructions which prevent many finite lattices from being cores.

It is known that there exists an order isomorphism between the Weyl group orbit through a minuscule weight of a simply-laced finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra and the set of all order filters in a self-dual connected d-complete poset. In this paper, we try to extend this fact to the case of multiply-laced finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras by using the "folding" technique with respect to a Dynkin diagram automorphism.

We extend the periodicity of birational rowmotion for rectangular posets to the case when the base field is replaced by a noncommutative ring (under appropriate conditions). This resolves a conjecture from 2014. The proof uses a novel approach and is fully self-contained.
Consider labellings of a finite poset $P$ by $\left|P\right| + 2$ elements of a ring $\mathbb{K}$: one label associated with each poset element and two constant labels for the added top and bottom elements in $\hat{P}$. *Birational rowmotion* is a partial map on such labellings. It was originally defined by Einstein and Propp for $\mathbb{K}=\mathbb{R}$ as a lifting (via detropicalization) of *piecewise-linear rowmotion*, a map on the order polytope $\mathcal{O}(P) := \{\text{order-preserving } f: P \to[0,1]\}$. The latter, in turn, extends the well-studied rowmotion map on the set of order ideals (or more properly, the set of order filters) of $P$, which correspond to the vertices of $\mathcal{O}(P)$. Dynamical properties of these combinatorial maps sometimes (but not always) extend to the birational level, while results proven at the birational level always imply their combinatorial counterparts. Allowing $\mathbb{K}$ to be noncommutative, we generalize the birational level even further, and some properties are in fact lost at this step.
In 2014, the authors gave the first proof of periodicity for birational rowmotion on rectangular posets (when $P$ is a product of two chains) for $\mathbb{K}$ a field, and conjectured that it survives (in an appropriately twisted form) in the noncommutative case. In this paper, we prove this noncommutative periodicity and a concomitant antipodal reciprocity formula. We end with some conjectures about periodicity for other posets, and the question of whether our results can be extended to (noncommutative) semirings.

A poset is called upper homogeneous (or "upho") if every principal order filter of the poset is isomorphic to the whole poset. We observe that the rank and characteristic generating functions of upho posets are multiplicative inverses of one another.
The Rank-Generating Functions of Upho Posets

Upper homogeneous finite type (upho) posets are a large class of partially ordered sets with the property that the principal order filter at every vertex is isomorphic to the whole poset. Well-known examples include k-array trees, the grid graphs, and the Stern poset. Very little is known about upho posets in general. In this paper, we construct upho posets with Schur-positive Ehrenborg quasisymmetric functions, whose rank-generating functions have rational poles and zeros. We also categorize the rank-generating functions of all planar upho posets. Finally, we prove the existence of an upho poset with uncomputable rank-generating function.

The $Γ$-colored $d$-complete posets correspond to certain Borel representations that are analogous to minuscule representations of semisimple Lie algebras. We classify $Γ$-colored $d$-complete posets which specifies the structure of the associated representations. We show that finite $Γ$-colored $d$-complete posets are precisely the dominant minuscule heaps of J.R. Stembridge. These heaps are reformulations and extensions of the colored $d$-complete posets of R.A. Proctor. We also show that connected infinite $Γ$-colored $d$-complete posets are precisely order filters of the connected full heaps of R.M. Green.

Peterson and Proctor obtained a formula which expresses the multivariate generating function for $P$-partitions on a $d$-complete poset $P$ as a product in terms of hooks in $P$. In this paper, we give a skew generalization of Peterson--Proctor's hook formula, i.e., a formula for the generating function for $(P \setminus F)$-partitions for a $d$-complete poset $P$ and its order filter $F$, by using the notion of excited diagrams. Our proof uses the Billey-type formula and the Chevalley-type formula in the equivariant $K$-theory of Kac--Moody partial flag varieties. This generalization provides an alternate proof of Peterson--Proctor's hook formula.

A root ideal arrangement $A_I$ is the set of reflecting hyperplanes corresponding to the roots in an order ideal $I$ of the root poset on the positive roots of a finite crystallographic root system. A characterisation of supersolvable root ideal arrangements is obtained. Namely, $A_I$ is supersolvable if and only if $I$ is chain peelable, meaning that it is possible to reach the empty poset from $I$ by in each step removing a maximal chain which is also an order filter. In particular, supersolvability is preserved under taking subideals. We identify the minimal ideals that correspond to non-supersolvable arrangements. There are essentially two such ideals, one in type $D_4$ and one in type $F_4$. By showing that $A_I$ is not line-closed if $I$ contains one of these, we deduce that the Orlik-Solomon algebra $OS(A_I)$ has the Koszul property if and only if $A_I$ is supersolvable.

Let $Φ$ be an irreducible crystallographic root system with Weyl group $W$ and coroot lattice $\check{Q}$, spanning a Euclidean space $V$. Let $m$ be a positive integer and $\aA^m_Φ$ be the arrangement of hyperplanes in $V$ of the form $(α, x) = k$ for $α\in Φ$ and $k = 0, 1,...,m$. It is known that the number $N^+ (Φ, m)$ of bounded dominant regions of $\aA^m_Φ$ is equal to the number of facets of the positive part $Δ^m_+ (Φ)$ of the generalized cluster complex associated to the pair $(Φ, m)$ by S. Fomin and N. Reading.
We define a statistic on the set of bounded dominant regions of $\aA^m_Φ$ and conjecture that the corresponding refinement of $N^+ (Φ, m)$ coincides with the $h$-vector of $Δ^m_+ (Φ)$. We compute these refined numbers for the classical root systems as well as for all root systems when $m=1$ and verify the conjecture when $Φ$ has type $A$, $B$ or $C$ and when $m=1$. We give several combinatorial interpretations to these numbers in terms of chains of order ideals in the root poset of $Φ$, orbits of the action of $W$ on the quotient $\check{Q} / (mh-1) \check{Q}$ and coroot lattice points inside a certain simplex, analogous to the ones given by the first author in the case of the set of all dominant regions of $\aA^m_Φ$. We also provide a dual interpretation in terms of order filters in the root poset of $Φ$ in the special case $m=1$.
