Let A and B be two connected graded commutative k-algebras of finite type, where k is a perfect field of positive characteristic p. We prove that the quasi--shuffle algebras generated by A and B are isomorphic as Hopf algebras if and only if A and B are isomorphic as graded k-vector spaces equipped with a Frobenius (pth-power) map.
For the hardest part of this analysis, we work with the dual construction, and are led to study connected graded cocommutative Hopf algebras H with two additional properties: H is free as an associative algebra, and the projection onto the indecomposables is split as a morphism of graded k-vector spaces equipped with a Verschiebung map.
Building on work on non-commutative Witt vectors by Goerss, Lannes, and Morel, we classify such free, `split' Hopf algebras.
A topological consequence is that, if X is a based path connected space, then the Hopf algebra H^*(Omega Sigma X;k) is determined by the stable homotopy type of X.
We also discuss the much easier analogous characteristic 0 results, and give a characterization of when our quasi--shuffle algebras are polynomial, generalizing the so-called Ditters conjecture.

We consider necessary and sufficient conditions for finite generation and finite presentability for fiber products of free semigroups and free monoids. We give a necessary and sufficient condition on finite fiber quotients for a fiber product of two free monoids to be finitely generated, and show that all such fiber products are also finitely presented. By way of contrast, we show that fiber products of free semigroups over finite fiber quotients are never finitely generated. We then consider fiber products of free semigroups over infinite semigroups, and show that for such a fiber product to be finitely generated, the quotient must be infinite but finitely generated, idempotent-free, and $\mathcal{J}$-trivial. Finally, we construct automata accepting the indecomposable elements of the fiber product of two free monoids/semigroups over free monoid/semigroup fibers, and give a necessary and sufficient condition for such a product to be finitely generated.

In this paper we determine extensions of higher degree between indecomposable modules over gentle algebras. In particular, our results show how such extensions either eventually vanish or become periodic. We give a geometric interpretation of vanishing and periodicity of higher extensions in terms of the surface underlying the gentle algebra. For gentle algebras arising from triangulations of surfaces, we give an explicit basis of higher extension spaces between indecomposable modules.

The extended Schur functions form a basis of quasisymmetric functions that contains the Schur functions. We provide a representation-theoretic interpretation of this basis by constructing $0$-Hecke modules whose quasisymmetric characteristics are the extended Schur functions. We further prove these modules are indecomposable.

We present a bialternant formula for odd symplectic characters, which are the characters of indecomposable modules of odd symplectic groups introduced by R. Proctor. As an application, we give a linear algebraic proof to an odd symplectic character identity due to R. P. Brent, C. Krattenthaler and S. O. Warnaar.
Combinatorics of faithfully balanced modules
We study and classify faithfully balanced modules for the algebra of lower triangular $n$ by $n$ matrices. The theory extends known results about tilting modules, which are classified by binary trees, and counted with the Catalan numbers. The number of faithfully balanced modules is a $2$-factorial number. Among them are $n!$ modules with $n$ indecomposable summands, which can be classified by interleaved binary trees or by increasing binary trees.
The uniqueness of plethystic factorisation
We prove that a plethysm product of two Schur functions can be factorised uniquely and classify homogeneous and indecomposable plethysm products.
Hecke algebras of simply-laced type with independent parameters
We study the (complex) Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}_S(\mathbf{q})$ of a finite simply-laced Coxeter system $(W,S)$ with independent parameters $\mathbf{q} \in \left( \mathbb{C} \setminus\{\text{roots of unity}\} \right)^S$. We construct its irreducible representations and projective indecomposable representations. We obtain the quiver of this algebra and determine when it is of finite representation type. We provide decomposition formulas for induced and restricted representations between the algebra $\mathcal{H}_S(\mathbf{q})$ and the algebra $\mathcal{H}_R(\mathbf{q}|_R)$ with $R\subseteq S$. Our results demonstrate an interesting combination of the representation theory of finite Coxeter groups and their 0-Hecke algebras, including a two-sided duality between the induced and restricted representations.
$p$-Jones-Wenzl idempotents
For a prime number $p$ and any natural number $n$ we introduce, by giving an explicit recursive formula, the $p$-Jones-Wenzl projector ${}^p\operatorname{JW}_n$, an element of the Temperley-Lieb algebra $TL_n(2)$ with coefficients in ${\mathbb F}_p$. We prove that these projectors give the indecomposable objects in the $\tilde{A}_1$-Hecke category over ${\mathbb F}_p$, or equivalently, they give the projector in $\mathrm{End}_{\mathrm{SL}_2(\overline{{\mathbb F}_p})}(({\mathbb F}_p^2)^{\otimes n})$ to the top tilting module. The way in which we find these projectors is by categorifying the fractal appearing in the expression of the $p$-canonical basis in terms of the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis for $\tilde{A}_1$.
Minuscule reverse plane partitions via quiver representations
A nilpotent endomorphism of a quiver representation induces a linear transformation on the vector space at each vertex. Generically among all nilpotent endomorphisms, there is a well-defined Jordan form for these linear transformations, which is an interesting new invariant of a quiver representation. If $Q$ is a Dynkin quiver and $m$ is a minuscule vertex, we show that representations consisting of direct sums of indecomposable representations all including $m$ in their support, the category of which we denote by $\mathcal{C}_{Q,m}$, are determined up to isomorphism by this invariant. We use this invariant to define a bijection from isomorphism classes of representations in $\mathcal{C}_{Q,m}$ to reverse plane partitions whose shape is the minuscule poset corresponding to $Q$ and $m$. By relating the piecewise-linear promotion action on reverse plane partitions to Auslander-Reiten translation in the derived category, we give a uniform proof that the order of promotion equals the Coxeter number. In type $A_n$, we show that special cases of our bijection include the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth and Hillman-Grassl correspondences.
The Tight Cut Decomposition of Matching Covered Uniformable Hypergraphs
The perfect matching polytope, i.e. the convex hull of (incidence vectors of) perfect matchings of a graph is used in many combinatorial algorithms. Kotzig, Lovász and Plummer developed a decomposition theory for graphs with perfect matchings and their corresponding polytopes known as the tight cut decomposition which breaks down every graph into a number of indecomposable graphs, so called bricks. For many properties that are of interest on graphs with perfect matchings, including the description of the perfect matching polytope, it suffices to consider these bricks. A key result by Lovász on the tight cut decomposition is that the list of bricks obtained is the same independent of the choice of tight cuts made during the tight cut decomposition procedure. This implies that finding a tight cut decomposition is polynomial time equivalent to finding a single tight cut.
We generalise the notions of a tight cut, a tight cut contraction and a tight cut decomposition to hypergraphs. By providing an example, we show that the outcome of the tight cut decomposition on general hypergraphs is no longer unique. However, we are able to prove that the uniqueness of the tight cut decomposition is preserved on a slight generalisation of uniform hypergraphs. Moreover, we show how the tight cut decomposition leads to a decomposition of the perfect matching polytope of uniformable hypergraphs and that the recognition problem for tight cuts in uniformable hypergraphs is polynomial time solvable.

We study commutative ring structures on the integral span of rooted trees and $n$-dimensional skew shapes. The multiplication in these rings arises from the smash product operation on monoid representations in pointed sets. We interpret these as Grothendieck rings of indecomposable monoid representations over $\fun$ - the "field" of one element. We also study the base-change homomorphism from $\mt$-modules to $k[t]$-modules for a field $k$ containing all roots of unity, and interpret the result in terms of Jordan decompositions of adjacency matrices of certain graphs.

The class of permutations that avoid the bivincular pattern (231, {1},{1}) is known to be enumerated by the Fishburn numbers. In this paper, we call them Fishburn permutations and study their pattern avoidance. For classical patterns of size 3, we give a complete enumerative picture for regular and indecomposable Fishburn permutations. For patterns of size 4, we focus on a Wilf equivalence class of Fishburn permutations that are enumerated by the Catalan numbers. In addition, we also discuss a class enumerated by the binomial transform of the Catalan numbers and give conjectures for other equivalence classes of pattern-avoiding Fishburn permutations.

We introduce a notion of $q$-deformed rational numbers and $q$-deformed continued fractions. A $q$-deformed rational is encoded by a triangulation of a polygon and can be computed recursively. The recursive formula is analogous to the $q$-deformed Pascal identitiy for the Gaussian binomial coefficients, but the Pascal triangle is replaced by the Farey graph. The coefficients of the polynomials defining the $q$-rational count quiver subrepresentations of the maximal indecomposable representation of the graph dual to the triangulation. Several other properties, such as total positivity properties, $q$-deformation of the Farey graph, matrix presentations and $q$-continuants are given, as well as a relation to the Jones polynomial of rational knots.
Coherent systems of probability measures on graphs for representations of free Frobenius towers
First formally defined by Borodin and Olshanski, a coherent system on a graded graph is a sequence of probability measures which respect the action of certain down/up transition functions between graded components. In one common example of such a construction, each measure is the Plancherel measure for the symmetric group $S_{n}$ and the down transition function is induced from the inclusions $S_{n} \hookrightarrow S_{n+1}$.
In this paper we generalize the above framework to the case where $\{A_n\}_{n \geq 0}$ is any free Frobenius tower and $A_n$ is no longer assumed to be semisimple. In particular, we describe two coherent systems on graded graphs defined by the representation theory of $\{A_n\}_{n \geq 0}$ and connect one of these systems to a family of central elements of $\{A_n\}_{n \geq 0}$. When the algebras $\{A_n\}_{n \geq 0}$ are not semisimple, the resulting coherent systems reflect the duality between simple $A_n$-modules and indecomposable projective $A_n$-modules.

We study the fan structure of Dressians $\Dr(d,n)$ and local Dressians $\Dr(\cM)$ for a given matroid $\cM$. In particular we show that the fan structure on $\Dr(\cM)$ given by the three term Plücker relations coincides with the structure as a subfan of the secondary fan of the matroid polytope $P(\cM)$. As a corollary, we have that a matroid subdivision is determined by its 3-dimensional skeleton. We also prove that the Dressian of the sum of two matroids is isomorphic to the product of the Dressians of the matroids. Finally we focus on indecomposable matroids. We show that binary matroids are indecomposable, and we provide a non-binary indecomposable matroid as a counterexample for the converse.

We prove that the bounded derived category of the incidence algebra of the Tamari lattice is fractionally Calabi-Yau, giving a positive answer to a conjecture of Chapoton. The proof involves a combinatorial description of the Serre functor of this derived category on a sufficiently nice family of indecomposable objects.

The category of Cohen-Macaulay modules of an algebra $B_{k,n}$ is used [JKS16] to give an additive categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the homogeneous coordinate ring of the Grassmannian of $k$-planes in $n$-space. In this paper, we find canonical Auslander--Reiten sequences and study the Auslander--Reiten translation periodicity for this category. Furthermore, we give an explicit construction of Cohen-Macaulay modules of arbitrary rank. We then use our results to establish a correspondence between rigid indecomposable modules of rank 2 and real roots of degree 2 for the associated Kac-Moody algebra in the tame cases.
Coxeter groups and quiver representations

In this expository note, I showcase the relevance of Coxeter groups to quiver representations. I discuss (1) real and imaginary roots, (2) reflection functors, and (3) torsion free classes and c-sortable elements. The first two topics are classical, while the third is a more recent development. I show that torsion free classes in rep Q containing finitely many indecomposables correspond bijectively to c-sortable elements in the corresponding Weyl group. This was first established in Dynkin type by Ingalls and Thomas; it was shown in general by Amiot, Iyama, Reiten, and Todorov. The proof in this note is elementary, essentially following the argument of Ingalls and Thomas, but without the assumption that Q is Dynkin.
