Crystals, regularisation and the Mullineux map

The Mullineux map is a combinatorial function on partitions which describes the effect of tensoring a simple module for the symmetric group in characteristic $p$ with the one-dimensional sign representation. It can also be interpreted as an isomorphism between crystal graphs for $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_p$. We give a new combinatorial description of the Mullineux map by expressing this crystal isomorphism as a composition of isomorphisms between different crystals. These isomorphisms are defined in terms of new generalised regularisation maps introduced by Millan Berdasco.
We then given two applications of our new realisation of the Mullineux map, by providing purely combinatorial proofs of a conjecture of Lyle relating the Mullineux map with regularisation, and a theorem of Paget describing the Mullineux map in RoCK blocks of symmetric groups.
The "Young" and "reverse" dichotomy of polynomials

A "flip-and-reversal" involution arising in the study of quasisymmetric Schur functions provides a passage between what we term "Young" and "reverse" variants of bases of polynomials or quasisymmetric functions. Building on this perspective, which has found recent application in the study of $q$-analogues of combinatorial Hopf algebras and generalizations of dual immaculate functions, we develop and explore Young analogues of well-known bases for polynomials. We prove several combinatorial formulas for the Young analogue of the key polynomials, show that they form the generating functions for left keys, and provide a representation-theoretic interpretation of Young key polynomials as traces on certain modules. We also give combinatorial formulas for the Young analogues of Schubert polynomials, including their crystal graph structure. We moreover determine the intersections of (reverse) bases and their Young counterparts, further clarifying their relationships to one another.
New structure on the quantum alcove model with applications to representation theory and Schubert calculus

The quantum alcove model associated to a dominant weight plays an important role in many branches of mathematics, such as combinatorial representation theory, the theory of Macdonald polynomials, and Schubert calculus. For a dominant weight, it is proved by Lenart-Lubovsky that the quantum alcove model does not depend on the choice of a reduced alcove path, which is a shortest path of alcoves from the fundamental one to its translation by the given dominant weight. This is established through quantum Yang-Baxter moves, which biject the objects of the model associated with two such alcove paths, and can be viewed as a generalization of jeu de taquin slides to arbitrary root systems. The purpose of this paper is to give a generalization of quantum Yang-Baxter moves to the quantum alcove model corresponding to an arbitrary weight, which was used to express a general Chevalley formula in the equivariant $K$-group of semi-infinite flag manifolds. The generalized quantum Yang-Baxter moves give rise to a "sijection" (bijection between signed sets), and are shown to preserve certain important statistics, including weights and heights. As an application, we prove that the generating function of these statistics does not depend on the choice of a reduced alcove path. Also, we obtain an identity for the graded characters of Demazure submodules of level-zero extremal weight modules over a quantum affine algebra, which can be thought of as a representation-theoretic analogue of the mentioned Chevalley formula. Other applications and some open problems involving "signed crystals" are discussed.

We prove that semi-infinite Bruhat order on an affine Weyl group is completely determined from those on the quotients by affine Weyl subgroups associated with various maximal (standard) parabolic subgroups of finite type. Furthermore, for an affine Weyl group of classical type, we give a complete classification of all cover relations of semi-infinite Bruhat order (or equivalently, all edges of the quantum Bruhat graphs) on the quotients in terms of tableaux. Combining these we obtain a tableau criterion for semi-infinite Bruhat order on an affine Weyl group of classical type. As an application, we give new tableau models for the crystal bases of a level-zero fundamental representation and a level-zero extremal weight module over a quantum affine algebra of classical untwisted type, which we call quantum Kashiwara-Nakashima columns and semi-infinite Kashiwara-Nakashima tableaux. We give an explicit description of the crystal isomorphisms among three different realizations of the crystal basis of a level-zero fundamental representation by quantum Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths, quantum Kashiwara-Nakashima columns, and (ordinary) Kashiwara-Nakashima columns.
Shifted Bender-Knuth moves and a shifted Berenstein-Kirillov group
The Bender-Knuth involutions on Young tableaux are known to coincide with the tableau switching on two adjacent letters, together with a swapping of those letters. Using the shifted tableau switching due to Choi, Nam and Oh (2019), we introduce a shifted version of the Bender-Knuth operators and define a shifted version of the Berenstein-Kirillov group. The actions of the cactus group, due to the author, and of the shifted Berenstein-Kirillov group on the Gillespie-Levinson-Purbhoo straight-shaped shifted tableau crystal (2017, 2020) coincide. Following the works of Halacheva (2016, 2020), and Chmutov, Glick and Pylyavskyy (2016, 2020), on the relation between the actions of the Berenstein-Kirillov group and the cactus group on the crystal of straight-shaped Young tableaux, we show that the shifted Berenstein-Kirillov group is isomorphic to a quotient of the cactus group. Not all the known relations that hold in the classic Berenstein-Kirillov group need to be satisfied by the shifted Bender-Knuth involutions, but the ones implying the relations of the cactus group are verified. Hence we have an alternative presentation for the cactus group via the shifted Bender-Knuth involutions.
A shifted Berenstein-Kirillov group and the cactus group
The Bender-Knuth involutions on semistandard Young tableaux are known to coincide with the tableau switching on horizontal border strips of two adjacent letters, together with the swapping of those letters. Motivated by this coincidence and using the shifted tableau switching due to Choi, Nam and Oh (2019), we consider a shifted version of the Bender-Knuth involutions and define a shifted version of the Berenstein-Kirillov group (1995). Similarly to the classical case, the shifted version of the Berenstein-Kirillov group also acts on the straight-shaped shifted tableau crystals introduced by Gillespie, Levinson and Purbhoo (2020), via partial Schützenberger involutions, thus coinciding with the action of the cactus group on the same crystal, due to the author. Following the works of Halacheva (2016, 2020), and Chmutov, Glick and Pylyavskyy (2020), on the relation between the actions of the Berenstein-Kirillov group and the cactus group on a crystal of straight-shaped Young tableaux, we also show that the shifted Berenstein-Kirillov group is isomorphic to a quotient of the cactus group. Not all the known relations that hold in the classic Berenstein-Kirillov group need to be satisfied by the shifted Bender-Knuth involutions, but the ones implying the relations of the cactus group are verified. Hence, we have an alternative presentation for the cactus group in terms of the shifted Bender-Knuth involutions. We also use the shifted growth diagrams due to Thomas and Yong (2016) to provide an alternative proof concerning the mentioned cactus group action.
An Explicit Algorithm of Rigged Configuration Bijection for the Adjoint Crystal of Type $G_{2}^{(1)}$
We construct an explicit algorithm of the static-preserving bijection between the rigged configurations and the highest weight paths of the form $(B^{2,1})^{\otimes L}$ in the $G_{2}^{(1)}$ adjoint crystals.

The main purpose of this paper is to give a combinatorial realization of Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KR simply) crystals $B^{r, s}$ for type $\text{E}_n^{(1)}$ with a minuscule node $r$ and $s \ge 1$. To do this, we describe explicitly the crystal of the quantum nilpotent subalgebra associated with the translation by the negative of the $r$-th fundamental weight. Then the crystal can be extended as an affine crystal, in which a certain subcrystal characterized by the $\varepsilon_r^*$-statistic is isomorphic to $B^{r,s}$ as an affine crystal, where $\varepsilon_r^*$ is also realized precisely in terms of triple and quadruple paths.

Whereas set-valued tableaux are the combinatorial objects associated to stable Grothendieck polynomials, hook-valued tableaux are associated to stable canonical Grothendieck polynomials. In this paper, we define a novel uncrowding algorithm for hook-valued tableaux. The algorithm "uncrowds" the entries in the arm of the hooks and yields a set-valued tableau and a column-flagged increasing tableau. We prove that our uncrowding algorithm intertwines with crystal operators. An alternative uncrowding algorithm that "uncrowds" the entries in the leg instead of the arm of the hooks is also given. As an application of uncrowding, we obtain various expansions of the canonical Grothendieck polynomials.
Symmetric Group Action of the Birational $R$-matrix

The birational $R$-matrix is a transformation that appears in the theory of geometric crystals, the study of total positivity in loop groups, and discrete dynamical systems. This $R$-matrix gives rise to an action of the symmetric group $S_m$ on an $m$-tuple of vectors. While the birational $R$-matrix is precisely the formula corresponding to the action of the simple transposition $s_i$, explicit formulas for the action of other permutations are generally not known. One particular case was studied by Lam and Pylyavskyy as it relates to energy functions of crystals. In this paper, we will discuss formulas for several additional cases, including transpositions, and provide combinatorial interpretations for the functions that appear in our work.
Unitary representations of type B rational Cherednik algebras and crystal combinatorics

We compare crystal combinatorics of the level 2 Fock space with the classification of unitary irreducible representations of type B rational Cherednik algebras to study how unitarity behaves under parabolic restriction. First, we show that any finite-dimensional unitary irreducible representation of such an algebra is labeled by a bipartition consisting of a rectangular partition in one component and the empty partition in the other component. This is a new proof of a result that can be deduced from theorems of Montarani and Etingof-Stoica. Second, we show that the crystal operators that remove boxes preserve the combinatorial conditions for unitarity, and that the parabolic restriction functors categorifying the crystals send irreducible unitary representations to unitary representations. Third, we find the supports of the unitary representations.
Schubert calculus from polyhedral parametrizations of Demazure crystals

One approach to Schubert calculus is to realize Schubert classes as concrete combinatorial objects such as Schubert polynomials. Through an identification of the cohomology ring of the type A full flag variety with the polytope ring of the Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes, Kiritchenko-Smirnov-Timorin realized each Schubert class as a sum of reduced (dual) Kogan faces. In this paper, we explicitly describe string parametrizations of opposite Demazure crystals, which give a natural generalization of reduced dual Kogan faces. We also relate reduced Kogan faces with Demazure crystals using the theory of mitosis operators, and apply these observations to develop the theory of Schubert calculus on symplectic Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes.
$q$-dimensions of highest weight crystals and cyclic sieving phenomenon

In this paper, we compute explicitly the $q$-dimensions of highest weight crystals modulo $q^n-1$ for a quantum group of arbitrary finite type under certain assumption, and interpret the modulo computations in terms of the cyclic sieving phenomenon. This interpretation gives an affirmative answer to the conjecture by Alexandersson and Amini. As an application, under the assumption that $λ$ is a partition of length $<m$ and there exists a fixed point in $\mathsf{SST}_m(λ)$ under the action $\mathsf{c}$ arising from the crystal structure, we show that the triple $(\mathsf{SST}_m(λ), \langle \mathsf{c} \rangle, \mathsf{s}_λ(1,q,q^2, \ldots, q^{m-1}))$ exhibits the cycle sieving phenomenon if and only if $λ$ is of the form $((am)^{b})$, where either $b=1$ or $m-1$. Moreover, in this case, we give an explicit formula to compute the number of all orbits of size $d$ for each divisor $d$ of $n$.
Perforated Tableaux: A Combinatorial Model for Crystal Graphs in Type $A_{n-1}$

We present a combinatorial model, called \emph{perforated tableaux}, to study $A_{n-1}$ crystals, unifying several previously studied combinatorial models. We identify nodes in the $k$-fold tensor product of the standard crystal with length $k$ words in $[n]= \{ 1, \ldots n\}$.
We model this crystal with perforated tableaux (ptableaux), extending this identification isomorphically to biwords, RSK $(P,Q)$ tableaux pairs, and matrix models. In the ptableaux setting, crystal operators are more simply defined and we can identify highest weights visually without computation. We generalize the tensor products in the Littlewood-Richardson rule to all of $[n]^{\otimes k}$, and not just the irreducible crystals whose reading words come from semistandard Young tableaux. We relate evacuation (Lusztig involution) to products of ptableaux crystal operators, and find a combinatorial algorithm to compute commutators of highest weight ptableaux.

Periodic tilings play a role in the decorative arts, in construction and in crystal structures. Combinatorial tiling theory allows the systematic generation, visualization and exploration of such tilings of the plane, sphere and hyperbolic plane, using advanced algorithms and software. Here we present a "galaxy" of tilings that consists of the set of all 2.4 billion different types of periodic tilings that have Dress complexity up to 24. We make these available in a database and provide a new program called Tegula that can be used to search and visualize such tilings.

An action of the cactus group of shifted tableau crystals

Recently, Gillespie, Levinson and Purbhoo introduced a crystal-like structure for shifted tableaux, called the shifted tableau crystal. We introduce, on this structure, a shifted version of the crystal reflection operators, which coincide with the restrictions of the shifted Schützenberger involution to any primed interval of two adjacent letters. Unlike type $A$ Young tableau crystals, these operators do not realize an action of the symmetric group on the shifted tableau crystal since the braid relations do not need to hold. Following a similar approach as Halacheva, we exhibit a natural internal action of the cactus group on this crystal, realized by the restrictions of the shifted Schützenberger involution to all primed intervals of the underlying crystal alphabet, containing, in particular, the aforesaid action of the shifted crystal reflection operator analogues.
Demazure crystals and the Schur positivity of Catalan functions

Catalan functions, the graded Euler characteristics of certain vector bundles on the flag variety, are a rich class of symmetric functions which include $k$-Schur functions and parabolic Hall-Littlewood polynomials. We prove that Catalan functions indexed by partition weight are the characters of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_\ell)$-generalized Demazure crystals as studied by Lakshmibai-Littelmann-Magyar and Naoi. We obtain Schur positive formulas for these functions, settling conjectures of Chen-Haiman and Shimozono-Weyman. Our approach more generally gives key positive formulas for graded Euler characteristics of certain vector bundles on Schubert varieties by matching them to characters of generalized Demazure crystals.
C-trees and a coherent presentation for the plactic monoid of type C
In this article we introduce the $\mathbb{N}-$decorated plactic monoid of type $C$, denoted $Pl^\mathbb{N}(C_n)$, via a finite convergent presentation $ACol$, with generating set $ACol(C_n)$ consisting of admissible columns, and an element $ε$. By Squier's coherent completion theorem, this presentation is extended into a coherent presentation by identifying a family of generating confluences, i.e. generating $3-$cells. Here the generating $3-$cells are critical branchings on words of length $3$. We adapt the notions of crystal structure to $ACol(C_n)^\ast$ , and show that the shape of $3-$cells is preserved by the action of Kashiwara operators. Thus we reduce the study of the coherent presentation to only describing the generating $3-$cells whose source is a word of highest weight. We then introduce combinatorial objects called $C-$trees which parameterize the words of highest weight in $ACol(C_n)^\ast$. The $C-$trees allow for simplifying calculations with the insertion algorithm in type $C$, as introduced in by Lecouvey, and we prove that the generating $3-$cells in $ACol$ are of shape at most $(4,3)$. As a consequence, we show that the column presentation of $Pl(C_n)$, as introduced by Hage, has generating $3-$cells of shape at most $(4,3)$. This contrasts the situation in type $A$, where the $3-$cells in the column presentation of $Pl(A_n)$ are of shape at most $(3,3)$.
