In order to provide a unified combinatorial interpretation of congruences modulo $5$ for 2-colored partition functions, Garvan introduced a bicrank statistic in terms of weighted vector partitions. In this paper, we obtain some inequalities between the bicrank counts $M^{*}(r,m,n)$ for $m=2$, $3$ and $4$ via their asymptotic formulas and some $q$-series techniques. These inequalities are parallel to Andrews and Lewis' results on the rank and crank counts for ordinary partitions.

Settling Kahn's conjecture (2001), we prove the following upper bound on the number $i(G)$ of independent sets in a graph $G$ without isolated vertices: \[ i(G) \le \prod_{uv \in E(G)} i(K_{d_u,d_v})^{1/(d_u d_v)}, \] where $d_u$ is the degree of vertex $u$ in $G$. Equality occurs when $G$ is a disjoint union of complete bipartite graphs. The inequality was previously proved for regular graphs by Kahn and Zhao.
We also prove an analogous tight lower bound: \[ i(G) \ge \prod_{v \in V(G)} i(K_{d_v+1})^{1/(d_v + 1)}, \] where equality occurs for $G$ a disjoint union of cliques. More generally, we prove bounds on the weighted versions of these quantities, i.e., the independent set polynomial, or equivalently the partition function of the hard-core model with a given fugacity on a graph.

We prove and generalize a conjecture in arXiv:1610.0474(4) about the asymptotics of $\frac{1}{\sqrt{n!}} f^{λ/μ}$, where $f^{λ/μ}$ is the number of standard Young tableaux of skew shape $λ/μ$ which have stable limit shape under the $1/\sqrt{n}$ scaling. The proof is based on the variational principle on the partition function of certain weighted lozenge tilings.

We introduce a new type of partitions that consists of partitions whose different parts alternate in parity (e.g., $3+2+2+1+1$). Various properties of this partition function are studied. In particular, we obtain its asymptotic behavior by employing Ingham's Tauberian theorem.

Macdonald processes are measures on sequences of integer partitions built using the Cauchy summation identity for Macdonald symmetric functions. These measures are a useful tool to uncover the integrability of many probabilistic systems, including the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation and a number of other models in its universality class. In this paper we develop the structural theory behind half-space variants of these models and the corresponding half-space Macdonald processes. These processes are built using a Littlewood summation identity instead of the Cauchy identity, and their analysis is considerably harder than their full-space counterparts.
We compute moments and Laplace transforms of observables for general half-space Macdonald measures. Introducing new dynamics preserving this class of measures, we relate them to various stochastic processes, in particular the log-gamma polymer in a half-quadrant (they are also related to the stochastic six-vertex model in a half-quadrant and the half-space ASEP). For the polymer model, we provide explicit integral formulas for the Laplace transform of the partition function. Non-rigorous saddle point asymptotics yield convergence of the directed polymer free energy to either the Tracy-Widom GOE, GSE or the Gaussian distribution depending on the average size of weights on the boundary.
Simple proofs and expressions for the restricted partition function and its polynomial part
In this note, we provide a simple derivation of expressions for the restricted partition function and its polynomial part. Our proof relies on elementary algebra on rational functions and a lemma that expresses the polynomial part as an average of the partition function.

Let $p_k(n)$ be given by the $k$-th power of the Euler Product $\prod _{n=1}^{\infty}(1-q^n)^k=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}p_k(n)q^{n}$. By investigating the properties of the modular equations of the second and the third order under the Atkin $U$-operator, we determine the generating functions of $p_{8k}(2^{2α} n +\frac{k(2^{2α}-1)}{3})$ $(1\leq k\leq 3)$ and $p_{3k} (3^{2β}n+\frac{k(3^{2β}-1)}{8})$ $(1\leq k\leq 8)$ in terms of some linear recurring sequences. Combining with a result of Engstrom about the periodicity of linear recurring sequences modulo $m$, we obtain infinite families of congruences for $p_k(n)$ modulo any $m\geq2$, where $1\leq k\leq 24$ and $3|k$ or $8|k$. Based on these congruences for $p_k(n)$, infinite families of congruences for many partition functions such as the overpartition function, $t$-core partition functions and $\ell$-regular partition functions are easily obtained.
Combinatorial proofs for identities related to generalizations of the mock theta functions $ω(q)$ and $ν(q)$

The two partition functions $p_ω(n)$ and $p_ν(n)$ were introduced by Andrews, Dixit and Yee, which are related to the third order mock theta functions $ω(q)$ and $ν(q)$, respectively. Recently, Andrews and Yee analytically studied two identities that connect the refinements of $p_ω(n)$ and $p_ν(n)$ with the generalized bivariate mock theta functions $ω(z;q)$ and $ν(z;q)$, respectively. However, they stated these identities cried out for bijective proofs. In this paper, we first define the generalized trivariate mock theta functions $ω(y,z;q)$ and $ν(y,z;q)$. Then by utilizing odd Ferrers graph, we obtain certain identities concerning to $ω(y,z;q)$ and $ν(y,z;q)$, which extend some early results of Andrews that are related to $ω(z;q)$ and $ν(z;q)$. In virtue of the combinatorial interpretations that arise from the identities involving $ω(y,z;q)$ and $ν(y,z;q)$, we finally present bijective proofs for the two identities of Andrews-Yee.

This work concerns both the semiclassical and zero temperature asymptotics of quantum weighted double Hurwitz numbers. The partition function for quantum weighted double Hurwitz numbers can be interpreted in terms of the energy distri- bution of a quantum Bose gas with vanishing fugacity. We compute the leading semi- classical term of the partition function for three versions of the quantum weighted Hurwitz numbers, as well as lower order semiclassical corrections. The classical limit $\hbar \ra 0$ is shown to reproduce the simple single and double Hurwitz numbers studied by Pandharipande and Okounkov [20,22]. The KP-Toda $τ$-function that serves as generating function for the quantum Hurwitz numbers is shown to have the $τ$-function of [20,22] as its leading term in the classical limit, and, with suitable scaling, the same holds for the partition function, the weights and expectations of Hurwitz numbers. We also compute the zero temperature limit $T \ra 0$ of the partition function and quantum weighted Hurwitz numbers. The KP or Toda $τ$-function serving as generating function for the quantum Hurwitz numbers are shown to give the one for Belyi curves in the zero temperature limit and, with suitable scaling, the same holds true for the partition function, the weights and the expectations of Hurwitz numbers.

We give tight upper and lower bounds on the internal energy per particle in the antiferromagnetic $q$-state Potts model on $4$-regular graphs, for $q\ge 5$. This proves the first case of a conjecture of the author, Perkins, Jenssen, and Roberts on extensions of their methods, and implies tight bounds on the antiferromagnetic Potts partition function.
The zero-temperature limit gives upper and lower bounds on the number of proper $q$-colourings of $4$-regular graphs, which almost proves the case $d=4$ of a conjecture of Galvin and Tetali. For any $q \ge 5$ we prove that the number of proper $q$-colourings of a $4$-regular graph is maximised by a union of $K_{4,4}$'s.

Let $p_{k}(n)$ be the coefficient of $q^n$ in the series expansion of $(q;q)_{\infty}^{k}$. It is known that the partition function $p(n)$, which corresponds to the case when $k=-1$, satisfies congruences such as $p(5n+4)\equiv 0\pmod{5}$. In this article, we discuss congruences satisfied by $p_{k}(n)$ when $k$ is a rational number.

We rewrite the (extended) Ooguri-Vafa partition function for colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials for torus knots in terms of the free-fermion (semi-infinite wedge) formalism, making it very similar to the generating function for double Hurwitz numbers. This allows us to conjecture the combinatorial meaning of full expansion of the correlation differentials obtained via the topological recursion on the Brini-Eynard-Mariño spectral curve for the colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials of torus knots.
This correspondence suggests a structural combinatorial result for the extended Ooguri-Vafa partition function. Namely, its coefficients should have a quasi-polynomial behavior, where non-polynomial factors are given by the Jacobi polynomials. We prove this quasi-polynomiality in a purely combinatorial way. In addition to that, we show that the (0,1)- and (0,2)-functions on the corresponding spectral curve are in agreement with the extension of the colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials data.

We present a statistical mechanical model whose random variables are solid partitions, i.e. Young diagrams built by stacking up four dimensional hypercubes. Equivalently, it can be viewed as the model of random tessellations of ${\bf R}^{3}$ by squashed cubes of four fixed orientations. The model computes the refined index of a system of D0-branes in the presence of $D8$-$\overline{D8}$ system, with a $B$-field strong enough to support the bound states. Mathematically, it is the equivariant K-theoretic version of integration over the Hilbert scheme of points on ${\bf C}^{4}$ and its higher rank analogues, albeit the definition is real, not complex analytic. The model is a mother of all random partition models, including the equivariant Donaldson-Thomas theory and the four dimensional instanton counting. Finally, a version of our model with infinite solid partitions with four fixed plane partition asymptotics is the vertex contribution to the equivariant count of instantons on toric Calabi-Yau fourfolds.
The conjectured partition function of the model is presented. We have checked it up to six instantons (which is one step beyond the checks of the celebrated P.~MacMahon's failed conjectures of the early XX century). A specialization of the formula is our earlier (2004) conjecture on the equivariant K-theoretic Donaldson-Thomas theory, proven by A.~Okounkov in 2015.

We present Pieri rules for the Jack polynomials in superspace. The coefficients in the Pieri rules are, except for an extra determinant, products of quotients of linear factors in $α$ (expressed, as in the usual Jack polynomial case, in terms of certain hook-lengths in a Ferrers' diagram). We show that, surprisingly, the extra determinant is related to the partition function of the 6-vertex model. We give, as a conjecture, the Pieri rules for the Macdonald polynomials in superspace.
An efficient dual sampling algorithm with Hamming distance filtration

Recently, a framework considering RNA sequences and their RNA secondary structures as pairs, led to some information-theoretic perspectives on how the semantics encoded in RNA sequences can be inferred. In this context, the pairing arises naturally from the energy model of RNA secondary structures. Fixing the sequence in the pairing produces the RNA energy landscape, whose partition function was discovered by McCaskill. Dually, fixing the structure induces the energy landscape of sequences. The latter has been considered for designing more efficient inverse folding algorithms.
We present here the Hamming distance filtered, dual partition function, together with a Boltzmann sampler using novel dynamic programming routines for the loop-based energy model. The time complexity of the algorithm is $O(h^2n)$, where $h,n$ are Hamming distance and sequence length, respectively, reducing the time complexity of samplers, reported in the literature by $O(n^2)$. We then present two applications, the first being in the context of the evolution of natural sequence-structure pairs of microRNAs and the second constructing neutral paths. The former studies the inverse fold rate (IFR) of sequence-structure pairs, filtered by Hamming distance, observing that such pairs evolve towards higher levels of robustness, i.e.,~increasing IFR. The latter is an algorithm that constructs neutral paths: given two sequences in a neutral network, we employ the sampler in order to construct short paths connecting them, consisting of sequences all contained in the neutral network.

We continue our study of a basic but seemingly intractable problem in integer partition theory, namely the conjecture that $p(n)$ is odd exactly $50\%$ of the time. Here, we greatly extend on our previous paper by providing a doubly-indexed, infinite framework of conjectural identities modulo 2, and show how to, in principle, prove each such identity. However, our conjecture remains open in full generality.
A striking consequence is that, under suitable existence conditions, if any $t$-multipartition function is odd with positive density and $t\not \equiv 0$ (mod 3), then $p(n)$ is also odd with positive density. These are all facts that appear virtually impossible to show unconditionally today.
Our arguments employ a combination of algebraic and analytic methods, including certain technical tools recently developed by Radu in his study of the parity of the Fourier coefficients of modular forms.

The least $r$-gap, $g_r(λ)$, of a partition $λ$ is the smallest part of $λ$ appearing less than $r$ times. In this article we introduce two new partition functions involving least $r$-gaps. We consider a bisection of a classical theta identity and prove new identities relating Euler's partition function $p(n)$, polygonal numbers, and the new partition functions. To prove the results we use an interplay of combinatorial and $q$-series methods.
We also give a combinatorial interpretation for $$\sum_{n=0}^\infty (\pm 1)^{k(k+1)/2} p(n-r\cdot k(k+1)/2).$$
Recurrence sequences connected with the $m$--ary partition function and their divisibility properties
In this paper we introduce a class of sequences connected with the $m$--ary partition function and investigate their congruence properties. In particular, we get facts about the sequences of $m$--ary partitions $(b_{m}(n))_{m\in\mathbb{N}}$ and $m$--ary partitions with no gaps $(c_{m}(n))_{m\in\mathbb{N}}$. We prove, for example, that for any natural number $2<h\leq m+1$ in both sequences $(b_{m}(n))_{m\in\mathbb{N}}$ and $(c_{m}(n))_{m\in\mathbb{N}}$ any residue class modulo $h$ appears infinitely many times.
Moreover, we give new proofs of characterisations modulo $m$ in terms of base--$m$ representation of $n$ for sequences $(b_{m}(n))_{m\in\mathbb{N}}$ and $(c_{m}(n))_{m\in\mathbb{N}}$. We also present a general method of finding such characterisations modulo any power of $m$. Using our approach we get description of $(b_{m}(n)\mod{μ_{2}})_{n\in\mathbb{N}}$, where $μ_{2}=m^{2}$ if $m$ is odd and $μ_{2}=m^{2}/2$ if $m$ is even.
Volumes and Ehrhart polynomials of flow polytopes
The Lidskii formula for the type $A_n$ root system expresses the volume and Ehrhart polynomial of the flow polytope of the complete graph with nonnegative integer netflows in terms of Kostant partition functions. For every integer polytope the volume is the leading coefficient of the Ehrhart polynomial. The beauty of the Lidskii formula is the revelation that for these polytopes its Ehrhart polynomial function can be deduced from its volume function! Baldoni and Vergne generalized Lidskii's result for flow polytopes of arbitrary graphs $G$ and nonnegative integer netflows. While their formulas are combinatorial in nature, their proofs are based on residue computations. In this paper we construct canonical polytopal subdivisions of flow polytopes which we use to prove the Baldoni-Vergne-Lidskii formulas. In contrast with the original computational proof of these formulas, our proof reveal their geometry and combinatorics. We conclude by exhibiting enumerative properties of the Lidskii formulas via our canonical polytopal subdivisions.
