The Orlik--Solomon algebra of a locally geometric poset and cohomology of complex abelian arrangements
We construct an Orlik--Solomon algebra for any locally geometric poset as a natural generalization of the one for geometric lattices. This algebra has several interesting features, including a combinatorial no-broken-circuit basis that we obtain through Gröbner basis theory. When the poset captures the intersection data of an arrangement of certain subgroups in a complex abelian Lie group, we infuse the Orlik--Solomon algebra with topological information to compute the cohomology of the arrangement complement. In particular, when the Lie group is compact, we present an explicit differential graded algebra whose cohomology is the rational cohomology of the arrangement complement. We further exhibit a family of abelian arrangements whose integer cohomology has torsion.

Random burning of the Euclidean torus
The burning number of a graph is the minimal number of steps that are needed to burn all of its vertices, with the following burning procedure: at each step, one can choose a point to set on fire, and the fire propagates constantly at unit speed along the edges of the graph. In this paper, we consider two natural random burning procedures in the discrete Euclidean torus $\mathbb{T}_n^d$, in which the points that we set on fire at each step are random variables. Our main result deals with the case where at each step, the law of the new point that we set on fire conditionally on the past is the uniform distribution on the complement of the set of vertices burned by the previous points. In this case, we prove that as $n\to\infty$, the corresponding random burning number (i.e, the first step at which the whole torus is burned) is asymptotic to $T\cdot n^{d/(d+1)}$ in probability, where $T=T(d)\in(0,\infty)$ is the explosion time of a so-called generalised Blasius equation.

Moreira's Theorem for Image Partition Regular Matrices
The famous Hindman conjecture says that for any finite coloring of natural numbers, there exists a monochromatic copy of the form $\{x,x+y,xy\}.$ In a celebrated article, Moreira gave a partial answer to this conjecture by showing that every finite coloring of the natural numbers contains a monochromatic configuration of the form $\{x, x+y, xy\}$. In this article we prove matrix versions (both finite and infinite) of Moreira's theorem. A matrix $A$ is said to be an image partition regular matrix if for any finite coloring of naturals, there exists a monochromatic image of $A,$ i.e. there exists a vector $\vec X$ such that all the entries of $A\vec X$ are monochromatic. From a recent paper of Bowen, one can derive the finite matrix version of the Moreira theorem: if $A$ and $B$ are two finite image partition regular matrices of the same order, then under any finite coloring of $\mathbb{N}$, there exist vectors $\vec{X}$ and $\vec{Y}$ such that all entries in the union of $A\vec{X}, A\vec{X} + B\vec{Y}, A\vec{X} \cdot B\vec{Y}$ are monochromatic, where $A\vec{X} \cdot B\vec{Y}$ denote the vector each of its entries are pointwise multiplication of the coordinates of $A\vec{X} \text{ and } B\vec{Y}$. In this article, we give a short combinatorial proof of this result, and then we extend it to infinite image partition regular matrices.

A quasipolynomial inverse theorem for the $\mathsf{U}^k(\mathbb{F}_p^n)$ norm in the high characteristic
We prove an inverse theorem for the Gowers uniformity norm $\mathsf{U}^k(\mathbb{F}_p^n)$ with quasipolynomial bounds in the case when $p \geq k$. The inverse theorem follows from a quasipolynomial structure theorem for Freiman multihomomorphisms, which are a natural generalization of Freiman homomorphisms to maps of several variables. The proof of the structure theorem for Freiman multihomomorphisms is the central result of the paper and rests on three main ingredients: algebraic regularity method, abstract Balog-Szemerédi-Gowers theorem and the theory of multilinear maps defined on multilinear varieties. The last ingredient originates from an earlier work of Gowers and the author, and is significantly expanded in this paper. In particular, once the theory of such maps is in place, the proof of the structure theorem for Freiman multihomomorphisms is relatively short, especially compared to the previous quantitative results in the inverse theory of Gowers norms.

The Conway-Parker algebra and the largest Fischer group
We give a direct, self-contained construction of the three sporadic Fischer groups $\mathrm{Fi}_{24}'$, $\mathrm{Fi}_{23}$, and $\mathrm{Fi}_{22}$ from the $783$-dimensional Conway-Parker algebra. We prove that its distinguished roots define involutory algebra automorphisms whose projective actions generate the full Fischer $3$-transposition group $\mathrm{Fi}_{24}$. Its commutator subgroup gives $\mathrm{Fi}_{24}'$, while $\mathrm{Fi}_{23}$ and $\mathrm{Fi}_{22}$ arise as centralizer quotients associated with one and two commuting transpositions. The root and frame geometry determines the group orders and leads to elementary proofs of simplicity, as well as natural rank-three actions and nonsplit central extensions. The construction uses standard facts about the Golay code, Parker's loop, and $M_{24}$. It does not use the Monster or previously known existence or order results for the Fischer groups. Fischer's classification and later recognition theorems are used only for the final identification.

Optimal and minimal $p$-ary linear codes from generalized order ideals of hierarchical posets
Hyun, Kim, Wu and Yue constructed optimal and minimal binary linear codes from order ideals of hierarchical posets with two levels. Two different generalizations of the underlying antichain (simplicial complex) setting to odd characteristic are known: down-sets of $\mathbb{F}_p^n$ under the componentwise order, and support-closed subsets of $\mathbb{F}_q^m$. No generalization of the poset setting itself has appeared. We introduce generalized order ideals of a poset of order $p-1$, obtained by attaching multiplicities in ${0,\dots,p-1}$ to the elements of a poset, and study the two natural notions of order ideal that arise for hierarchical posets with two levels. Whenever the ideal meets the upper level, the resulting defining sets are neither down-sets nor support-closed. We determine the weight distributions of the associated complement codes, exhibit a family of Griesmer codes in which the upper element carries an arbitrary multiplicity, and, via the characteristic function of a generalized order ideal, obtain an infinite family of minimal $p$-ary codes of length $p^n-1$ and dimension $n+1$ violating the Ashikhmin--Barg condition.

Permutation automorphism groups of cyclic codes I: cyclotomic association schemes
The Berger-Charpin conjecture predicts that the permutation automorphism group of a cyclic code is generally the $q$-affine group, which is generated by the shift and the Frobenius multiplier on the index set. The word {\em generally} is not made precise in the literature, and the goal of this series of papers is to study when the Berger-Charpin conjecture or its variants hold. In this first part, we establish a natural connection between the theory of cyclic codes and the theory of cyclotomic association schemes (equivalently, Schur rings over cyclic groups). Using it, we show that the $q$-affine group is not the correct group to expect for certain code lengths. We characterize these lengths by an arithmetic condition, and show that they have density zero.
The automorphism group of the derangement graph of $\operatorname{PGL}_{2}(q)$ acting on the projective line
Given a finite transitive group $G\leq \operatorname{Sym}(Ω)$, the derangement graph $Γ_G$ is the graph whose vertex set is $G$, and two vertices $g$ and $h$ are adjacent if the ratio $h^{-1}g$ is a fixed-point-free permutation. In this paper, we show that the automorphism group of the derangement graph of the transitive permutation group corresponding to the natural action of $\operatorname{PGL}_{2}(q)$ on the projective line $\operatorname{PG}_{1}(q)$ is \begin{align*} \operatorname{Aut}(Γ_{\operatorname{PGL}_{2}({q})}) = \left(L_{\operatorname{PGL}_2(q)}\times R_{\operatorname{PGL}_2(q)}\right) \rtimes \left(\langle ψ\rangle \times γ_{\operatorname{Aut}(\mathbb{F}_q)}\right), \end{align*} where $L_{\operatorname{PGL}_2(q)}$ is the left-regular representation of $\operatorname{PGL}_2(q)$, $R_{\operatorname{PGL}_2(q)}$ is the right-regular representation of $\operatorname{PGL}_2(q)$, $γ_{\operatorname{Aut}(\mathbb{F}_q)}$ is the group of conjugation by elements of $\operatorname{Aut}(\mathbb{F}_q)$, and $ψ: \operatorname{PGL}_2(q) \to \operatorname{PGL}_2(q)$ such that $ψ(x) = x^{-1}$.

On the Minimum Possible Maximum Degree of Induced Subgraphs of Product Graphs
The following is a natural and fundamental question for a graph $G$: if an induced subgraph $H$ of $G$ has $x$ more vertices than a maximum independent set, what can be said about the maximum degree of $H$ as a function of $x$? The case $x=1$ is already of considerable interest. For example, in his celebrated proof of the sensitivity conjecture, Hao Huang showed that every induced subgraph of the hypercube $Q_n$ on more than $2^{n-1}$ vertices has maximum degree at least $\sqrt{n}$. Chung, Fúredi, Graham, and Seymour proved that this bound is tight. In this paper, we study this question when $G$ is either the $n$-fold Hamming product or the $n$-fold tensor product of a triangle. For both graphs, we determine the exact minimum possible average degree of an induced subgraph of a prescribed size. We also prove that the tensor product exhibits several Huang-like phenomena. For the Hamming product, we show that, for several size densities and large $n$, the minimum possible maximum degree is asymptotically equal to the minimum possible average degree. Finally, we extend several of the results from the triangle to an arbitrary complete graph $K_k$.

The Homomorphism Submodule Graph
Let $M$ be a left $R$-module. We define the \emph{homomorphism submodule graph} $Γ_{\mathrm{Hom}}(M)$ as the simple graph whose vertices are the proper submodules of $M$, with an edge between distinct vertices $N_1$ and $N_2$ if and only if $\mathrm{Hom}_R(N_1, M/N_2) \ne 0$ or $\mathrm{Hom}_R(N_2, M/N_1) \ne 0$. This graph encodes homological information about $M$ and reflects its internal structure. We compute $Γ_{\mathrm{Hom}}(M)$ for semisimple and uniserial modules, establish precise correspondences between graph-theoretic and algebraic properties, and prove that for modules over Artinian local rings, the isomorphism type of $M$ is determined by $Γ_{\mathrm{Hom}}(M)$. We also show that over commutative rings with identity, the graph is always chordal, and we relate its spectral radius to composition length in natural families.

Hall--Littlewood expansions of chromatic quasisymmetric functions using linked rook placements
In this work, we obtain a Hall--Littlewood expansion of the chromatic quasisymmetric function arising from a natural unit interval order and describe the coefficients in terms of linked rook placements. Applying the Carlsson--Mellit relation between chromatic quasisymmetric functions and unicellular LLT polynomials, we also obtain a combinatorial description for the coefficients of the unicellular LLT polynomials expanded in terms of the modified transformed Hall--Littlewood polynomials.

2-colouring shift-chains
A shift-chain is an $ r $-uniform hypergraph $ \mathcal{H} $ on vertex set $ [n] $ with the property that, for any two edges $ \{ e_1, \ldots, e_r \} $ and $ \{ f_1, \ldots, f_r \} $ with $ e_1 < \cdots < e_r $ and $ f_1 < \cdots < f_r $, either $ e_i \le f_i $ for all $ i \in [r] $ or $ f_i \le e_i $ for all $ i \in [r] $. It is known that all shift-chains are properly vertex-colourable with three colours (that is, such that no edge is monochromatic), which is optimal for $ r \in \{ 2, 3 \} $. It was asked by Pálvölgyi in 2010 whether all shift-chains of sufficiently large uniformity are properly $ 2 $-colourable. We answer this question in a strong form, proving that in fact all shift-chains of uniformity at least $ 4 $ are properly $ 2 $-colourable. The colouring is obtained via a natural algorithm with linear running time.

Eulerian and Bipartite Partial Duals of Hypermaps
We study hyperedge partial duals of finite hypermaps in a purely combinatorial framework, without assuming orientability. A hypermap is represented by three fixed-point-free involutions $(τ_0,τ_1,τ_2)$ on its flag set. We first give an explicit construction of the medial map from this model: $02$-orbits become the medial vertex discs, while $τ_1$-transpositions become the medial bands; a local orientation system and its twist data then provide a signed rotation description of the medial map. We next prove that the state circles associated with a chosen set of hyperedges are in natural bijection with the vertex orbits of the corresponding partial dual, yielding a crossing-total characterization of all Eulerian hyperedge partial duals. For bipartiteness, the twist data lead to a modified medial map in which inserted bars record the obstruction to a global orientation. We prove that a partial dual is bipartite if and only if its dualized hyperedge set is exactly the set of $c$-type hyperedges identified by an all-crossing orientation of this modified medial map. When the hypermap is orientable, these constructions specialize to the known orientable-hypermap results; when every hyperedge has valence two, they specialize to the ribbon-graph results.

On the Moments of Least $r$-Gaps of Partitions and a Conjecture of Baruah and Talukdar
The minimal excludant or mex of a partition, introduced by Andrews and Newman \cite{AN2019,AN2020}, is the smallest positive integer missing from that partition. Baruah, Bhoria, Eyyunni and Maji \cite{BBEM2023} studied the sum of mex split according to parity, together with its $k$-th moments. Ballantine and Merca \cite{BM2020} generalized mex to the least $r$-gap, which is the smallest natural number that does not appear at least $r$ times in the partition. Baruah and Talukdar \cite{BT2026} conjectured a corresponding asymptotic equivalence between the sums of odd and even least $r$-gaps for every $r>1$, generalizing a theorem of Barman and Singh \cite{BS2024} for the classical mex. In this article, we derive exact formulas for the $k$-th moments of $r\text{-}\mathrm{mex}(π)$ for every fixed $k\geq1$, in terms of partition functions. We give a complete proof of the conjecture of Baruah and Talukdar \cite{BT2026} for every natural number $r>1$. We also generalize an identity of Hopkins, Sellers and Stanton to the least $r$-gap setting.

Two-coloring cubic graphs with small monochromatic components, but without singletons
We combine two coloring aspects that work in opposite directions. One can 2-color the vertices of a cubic graph such that each monochromatic component is very small. One can also 2-color the vertices of a cubic graph such that each monochromatic component has degree at least 1. As an intended tool for solving a special case of Wegner's conjecture, Thomassen formulated a conjecture that combined the two previous properties. This led to the concept of a crumby coloring. However it turned out that there are cubic graphs without such coloring. Here we try to see what natural relaxations of the original concept might hold for each cubic graph. We show there exists a constant $c$ such that every cubic graph has a vertex 2-coloring such that every monochromatic component has at least 2 and at most $c$ vertices. We also prove an unbalanced version, which is the natural relaxation of the crumby coloring.

Webs and smooth components of two column Springer fibers
Webs and Springer fibers are separately important objects in representation theory: webs give a diagrammatic calculus for tensor invariants of $\mathfrak{sl}_k$, and the cohomology group of Springer fibers can be used to construct the irreducible representations of the symmetric group. Fung's 1997 thesis gave the first evidence of a connection between $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ webs and Springer fibers, showing that webs naturally index and describe the components of certain "two row" Springer fibers. However, this case is known to be far from generic. This paper deepens this connection with a similar correspondence in the substantially more complicated "two column" case. In particular, and building on works of Fresse, Melnikov, and Sakas-Obeid, we use webs to give a clean characterization of the smooth components of two column rectangle Springer fibers and a simple description of the geometry of these smooth components. We also show that the Poincaré polynomial of the smooth components is invariant under the natural dihedral action on the corresponding webs.

$e$-positivity of chromatic quasisymmetric functions of bounce number three via the inverse Kostka matrix
Let $G$ be the incomparability graph of a natural unit interval order $P$ on $[n]$ with the associated Dyck path $\mathbf{d}$. Let $X_G(\mathbf{x},q)$ be its chromatic quasisymmetric function. Shareshian and Wachs conjectured that $X_G(\mathbf{x},q)$ is $e$-positive. At $q=1$, this is the Stanley--Stembridge conjecture, which was proved by Hikita in 2024. Using the combinatorial interpretation of the inverse Kostka matrix by Eğecioğlu and Remmel, we expand $X_G(\mathbf{x},q)$ in the elementary basis when $\mathbf{d}$ has bounce number three. In our expansion, every coefficient is an alternating sum of at most seven generating functions of $P$-tableaux in terms of the number of inversions. We then construct sign reversing injections between sets of $P$-tableaux preserving inversions. We prove that the coefficient of $e_λ$ lies in $\mathbb{N}[q]$ for every partition $λ=(λ_1,λ_2,λ_3)$ with $λ_2-λ_3\leq1$, and that $X_G(\mathbf{x},q)$ is $e$-positive whenever $P$ contains an antichain with $n-3$ elements, which extends the hook shape case of Cho and Huh.
Fibonacci Polyominoes: Refined Enumeration and Dyck-Path Bijections
We study Fibonacci polyominoes, a class of column-convex polyominoes whose lower boundary is a staircase path made of unit horizontal and vertical steps. We derive generating functions that enumerate these polyominoes by area and semiperimeter. The resulting formulas give refinements of the classical Fibonacci enumeration and lead to explicit expressions involving Catalan numbers. We give a bijection with labeled Dyck paths that provides combinatorial proofs of these formulas and translates natural statistics on Fibonacci polyominoes into peaks, returns, and related statistics on Dyck paths. This yields refinements by descents and left-to-right minima, including distributions governed by Narayana numbers. We also study consecutive columns of equal height, leading in the diagonal case to a refinement of the Catalan enumeration governed by Motzkin numbers.

The relative join operad and polyhedral products
An inclusion of nonvoid simplicial complexes induces an arrow of polyhedral products. Applying Ayzenberg's polyhedral join to both complexes gives a symmetric relative join operad. Its endpoint suboperads recover Abramyan--Panov substitution and Ayzenberg composition. Neither endpoint operad nor either relative join operad is finitely generated. The suboperad with nonvoid lower complex arises as the nonempty power-set quotient of the subset-inclusion operad. When tensoring preserves colimits of nonempty finite diagrams, the suboperad acts on arrows by polyhedral colimits up to coherent natural isomorphism. The action induces a set-operad algebra on isomorphism classes of arrows. The dual construction produces Stanley--Reisner quotient arrows, and the colimit action refines Eldridge's loop-space decomposition to arrows. PL ball--boundary pairs form a suboperad of the relative join operad, and minimal interior faces give an operad morphism. Principal pairs have odd-dimensional spherical moment-angle homotopy fibers and yield a closure result for Eldridge's loop-space class.
