The Cyclic Sieving Phenomenon and frieze patterns
We exhibit two instances of the cyclic sieving phenomenon - one on dissections of a polygon of a fixed type and one on triangulations of a once-punctured polygon. We use these results to give refined enumerations of certain families of frieze patterns. We also give an interpretation of finite, positive integral frieze patterns fixed under nontrivial rotations as frieze patterns from a family of orbifolds and show that these are always unitary. Finally, we give a bijection between Holm-Jorgensen frieze patterns and p-Dyck paths, extending a recent construction of Canadas, Espinosa, Gaviria, and Rios, and discuss an induced rotation map on Dyck paths. Several conjectures and questions for future study are highlighted throughout the article.
Restricted Jacobi permutations

Jacobi permutations, introduced by Viennot in the context of Jacobi elliptic functions, are counted by the Euler numbers $E_{n}$ appearing in the series expansion $\sec x+\tan x=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}E_{n}x^{n}/n!$. We conduct a systematic study of pattern avoidance in Jacobi permutations, achieving a complete enumeration of Jacobi permutations avoiding a prescribed set of length 3 patterns. In the case of a single pattern restriction, we obtain refined enumerations with respect to several permutation statistics: the number of ascents (or descents), the number of left-to-right minima, and the last letter. Bijections involving certain subfamilies of binary trees and Dyck paths, as well as generating function techniques, play important roles in our proofs.
Cylindrical Hitomezashi Patterns
Pete discovered a strong combinatorial description of hitomezashi loops via a bijection to pairs of Dyck paths of the same height. Our main theorem provides an analogous description of hitomezashi loops of nonzero homology class on certain cylindrical hitomezashi patterns. In the process, we complete some of Ren and Zhang's results on the count and possible homology classes of toroidal hitomezashi loops.
Lattice path combinatorics in superconformal Yang-Mills theories
We study a class of observables in four-dimensional superconformal Yang--Mills theories which, in the planar limit at finite 't Hooft coupling, can be expressed as determinants of semi-infinite matrices built from Bessel functions. This determinant representation points to an underlying integrable structure, which we make explicit by showing that the observables satisfy a nonlinear differential-difference equation. We argue that the solution to this equation admits an expansion in terms of iterated Chen integrals of uniform transcendental weight. Remarkably, the coefficients in this expansion are universal positive integers, independent of the particular observable, suggesting a hidden combinatorial origin. Building on this observation, we show that the resulting expressions possess a natural interpretation in enumerative combinatorics: they coincide with the partition function (or generating function) of an ensemble of lattice paths constrained to a nontrivial domain. This correspondence extends and generalizes the classical Dyck paths to a richer family of path ensembles relevant in gauge theory.

In this paper, we formulate a rational analog of the fall Delta theorem and the Delta square conjecture.
We find a new dinv statistic on fall-decorated paths on a $(m+k) \times (n+k)$ rectangle that simultaneously extends the previously known dinv statistics on decorated square objects and non-decorated rectangular objects.
We prove a symmetric function formula for the $q,t$-generating function of fall-decorated rectangular Dyck paths as a skewing operator applied to $e_{m,n+km}$ and, conditionally on the rectangular paths conjecture, an analog formula for fall-decorated rectangular paths.
A basis of the alternating diagonal coinvariants
We construct an explicit vector space basis in terms of bivariate Vandermonde determinants for the alternating component of the diagonal coinvariant ring $DR_n$, answering a question of Stump. As a Corollary, we recover the combinatorial formula of the $q,t$-Catalan numbers. Moreover, we construct a decomposition of an $m$-Dyck path into an $m$-tuple of Dyck paths such that the area sequence and bounce sequence of the $m$-Dyck path is entrywise the sum of the area sequences and bounce sequences of the Dyck paths in the tuple.
Fuss--Catalan algebras on generalized Dyck paths via non-crossing partitions
We study the Fuss--Catalan algebras, which are generalizations of the Temperley--Lieb algebra and act on generalized Dyck paths, through non-crossing partitions. First, the Temperley--Lieb algebra is defined on non-crossing partitions, and a bijection between a Dyck path and a non-crossing partition is shown to be compatible with the Temperley--Lieb algebra on Dyck paths, or equivalently chord diagrams. We show that the Kreweras endomorphism on non-crossing partitions is equivalent to the rotation of chord diagrams under the bijection. Secondly, by considering an increasing $r$-chain in the graded lattice of non-crossing partitions, we define the Fuss--Catalan algebras on increasing $r$-chains. Through a bijection between an increasing $r$-chain and a generalized Dyck path, one naturally obtains the Fuss--Catalan algebra on generalized Dyck paths. As generalizations of the Fuss--Catalan algebra, we introduce the one- and two-boundary Fuss--Catalan algebras. Increasing $r$-chains of symmetric non-crossing partitions give symmetric generalized Dyck paths by the bijection, and the boundary Fuss--Catalan algebras naturally act on them. We show that these representations are compatible with the diagrammatic representations of the algebras by use of generalized chord diagrams. Thirdly, we discuss the integrability of the Fuss--Catalan algebras. For the Fuss--Catalan algebras with boundaries, we obtain a new solution of the reflection equation in the case of $r=2$.
Odd-indexed Fibonacci numbers via pattern-avoiding permutations
In this paper, we consider several combinatorial problems whose enumeration leads to the odd-indexed Fibonacci numbers, including certain types of Dyck paths, block fountains, directed column-convex polyominoes, and set partitions with no crossings and no nestings. Our goal is to provide bijective maps to pattern-avoiding permutations and derive generating functions that track certain positional statistics at the permutation level.

An $r$-colored Dyck path is a Dyck path with all $\mathbf{d}$-steps having one of $r$ colors in $[r]=\{1, 2, \dots, r\}$. In this paper, we consider several statistics on the set $\mathcal{A}_{n,0}^{(r)}$ of $r$-colored Dyck paths of length $2n$ with no two consecutive $\mathbf{d}$-steps having the same colors. Precisely, the paper studies the statistics ``number of points" at level $\ell$, ``number of $\mathbf{u}$-steps" at level $\ell+1$, ``number of peaks" at level $\ell+1$ and ``number of $\mathbf{udu}$-steps" on the set $\mathcal{A}_{n,0}^{(r)}$. The counting formulas of the first three statistics are established by Riordan arrays related to $S(a,b; x)$, the weighted generating function of $(a,b)$-Schröder paths. By a useful and surprising relations satisfied by $S(a,b; x)$, several identities related to these counting formulas are also described.
Permutohedron's volume via Dyck paths
In a recent project, Castillo, Libedinsky, Plaza, and the author established a deep connection between the size of lower Bruhat intervals in affine Weyl groups and the volume of the permutohedron, showing that the former can be expressed as a linear combination of the latter. In this paper, we provide a formula for the volume of this polytope in terms of Dyck paths. Thus, we present a shorter, alternative, and enlightening proof of a previous formula given by Postnikov.

Rational Dyck paths are the rational generalization of classical Dyck paths. They play an important role in Catalan combinatorics, and have multiple applications in algebra and geometry. Two statistics over rational Dyck paths called run and ratio-run are introduced. They both have symmetric joint distributions with the return statistic. We give combinatorial proofs and algebraic proofs of the symmetries, generalizing a result of Li and Lin.
On the global dimension of Nakayama algebras
We study the global dimension of Nakayama algebras. In the case of linear Nakayama algebras, which are in canonical bijection to Dyck paths, we show that the global dimension has the same distribution as the height of Dyck paths. For cyclic Nakayama algebras an explicit classification of finite global dimension is not known. However, we show that in certain special cases cyclic Nakayama algebras with finite global dimension can again be interpreted as Dyck paths. In particular, we show that there is a natural bijection between sincere Nakayama algebras and Dyck paths. In this case, we find that the global dimension is in fact twice the bounce count of the corresponding Dyck path.
Positivity of generalized cluster scattering diagrams
We introduce a new class of combinatorial objects, named tight gradings, which are certain nonnegative integer-valued functions on maximal Dyck paths. Using tight gradings, we derive a manifestly positive formula for any wall-function in a rank-2 generalized cluster scattering diagram. We further prove that any consistent rank-2 scattering diagram is positive with respect to the coefficients of initial wall-functions. Moreover, our formula yields explicit expressions for relative Gromov-Witten invariants on weighted projective planes and the Euler characteristics of moduli spaces of framed stable representations on complete bipartite quivers. Finally, by leveraging the rank-2 positivity, we show that any higher-rank generalized cluster scattering diagram has positive wall-functions, which leads to a proof of the positivity of the Laurent phenomenon and the strong positivity of Chekhov-Shapiro's generalized cluster algebras.
Higher Rank Macdonald Polynomials
In this paper, we introduce higher rank generalizations of Macdonald polynomials. The higher rank non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials are Laurent polynomials in several sets of variables which form weight bases for higher rank polynomial representations of double affine Hecke algebras with respect to higher rank Cherednik operators. We prove that these polynomials satisfy generalized versions of the classical Knop--Sahi relations and we give combinatorial descriptions of their weights. The higher rank symmetric Macdonald polynomials are defined as Hecke-symmetrizations of the higher rank non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials and form eigenbases for the spaces of Hecke-invariant higher rank polynomials with respect to generalized finite variable Macdonald operators. We prove that the higher rank symmetric Macdonald polynomials satisfy stability properties allowing for the construction of infinite variable limits. These higher rank symmetric Macdonald functions form eigenbases for certain representations of the (positive) elliptic Hall algebra with respect to generalized infinite variable Macdonald operators. Lastly, we show that the higher rank polynomial representations may be used to construct higher rank polynomial representations of the double Dyck path algebra. We initiate a systematic study of pattern avoidance in rectangulations. We give a formal definition of such patterns and investigate rectangulations that avoid $\top$-like patterns - the pattern $\top$ and its rotations. For every $L \subseteq \{\top, \, \vdash, \, \bot, \, \dashv \}$ we enumerate $L$-avoiding rectangulations, both weak and strong. In particular, we show $\top$-avoiding weak rectangulations are enumerated by Catalan numbers and construct bijections to several Catalan structures. Then, we prove that $\top$-avoiding strong rectangulations are in bijection with several classes of inversion sequences, among them $I(010,101,120,201)$ and $I(011,201)$ - which leads to a solution of the conjecture that these classes are Wilf-equivalent. Finally, we show that $\{\top, \bot\}$-avoiding strong rectangulations are in bijection with recently introduced rushed Dyck paths.

Let $ι_{k}(m,l)$ denote the total number of intervals of length $m$ across all Dyck paths of semilength $k$ such that each interval contains precisely $l$ falls. We give the formula for $ι_{k}(m,l)$ and show that $ι_{k}(k,l)=\binom{k}{l}^2$. Motivated by this, we propose two stronger variants of the wreath conjecture due to Baranyai for $n=2k+1$.
Symmetry of ascent and descent distributions on rectangular and staircase tableaux
We give direct bijective proofs of the symmetry of the distributions of the number of ascents and descents over standard Young tableaux of shape $λ$, where $λ$ is a rectangle $(n,n,\dots,n)$ or a truncated staircase $(n,n-1,\dots,n-k+1)$. These can be viewed as instances of the more general symmetry of the distribution of descents over linear extensions of graded posets, for which previous proofs by Stanley and Farley were based on the theory of $P$-partitions and the involution principle, respectively. In the case of two-row rectangles $(n,n)$, our bijection is equivalent to the Lalanne--Kreweras involution on Dyck paths, which bijectively proves the symmetry of the Narayana numbers.
Our bijections are defined in terms of certain arrow encodings of standard Young tableaux. This setup allows us to construct other statistic-preserving involutions on tableaux of rectangular shape, providing a simple proof of the fact that ascents and descents are equidistributed up to a shift, and proving a conjecture of Sulanke about certain statistics in the case of three rows. Finally, we use our bijections to define a possible notion of rowmotion on standard Young tableaux of rectangular shape, and to give a bijective proof of the symmetry of the number of descents on canon permutations, which have been recently studied as a variation of Stirling and quasi-Stirling permutations.
Irreducible components of two-column $Δ$-Springer fibers
The $Δ$-Springer fibers $Y_{n,λ,s}$, introduced by Levinson, Woo, and the second author, generalize Springer fibers for $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C})$ and give a geometric interpretation of the of the Delta Conjecture from algebraic combinatorics (at $t=0$). We prove that all irreducible components of the $Δ$-Springer fiber $Y_{n,n-1}=Y_{n,(1^{n-1}),n-1}$ are smooth. In fact, we prove that any intersection of irreducible components of $Y_{n,n-1}$ is a smooth Hessenberg variety which has the structure of an iterated Grassmannian fiber bundle. We then give a presentation of the singular cohomology ring of each irreducible component of $Y_{n,n-1}$ and a combinatorial formula for the Poincaré polynomial of an arbitrary union of intersections of irreducible components in terms of arm and leg statistics on Dyck paths.
Intervals in a family of Fibonacci lattices
We focus on a family of subsets $(\F^p_n)_{p\geq 2}$ of Dyck paths of semilength $n$ that avoid the patterns $DUU$ and $D^{p+1}$, which are enumerated by the generalized Fibonacci numbers. We endow them with the partial order relation induced by the well-known Stanley lattice, and we prove that all these posets are sublattices of the Stanley lattice. We provide generating functions for the numbers of linear and boolean intervals and we deduce the Möbius function for every $p\geq 2$. We count meet-irreducible elements in $\FF_n^p$ which establishes a surprising link with the edges of the $(n,p)$-Turán graph. We also prove that intervals are in one-to-one correspondence with bicolored Motzkin paths avoiding some patterns, which allows to enumerate intervals for $p=2$. Using a discrete continuity argument ($p\rightarrow \infty$), we present a similar enumerative study in a poset of some Dyck paths of semilength $n$ counted by $2^{n-1}$. Finally, we give bijections that transport the lattice structure on other combinatorial objects, proving that those lattices can be seen as the well-known dominance order on some compositions.
Multifold Convolutions, Generating Functions and 1d Random Walks
We consider multifold convolutions of a combinatorial sequence $(a_n)_{n=0}^{\infty}$: namely, for each $k \in \N$ the $k$-fold convolution is $\mathcal{M}^{(k)}_n(\boldsymbol{a}) = \sum_{j_1+\dots+j_k=n} a_{j_1} \cdots a_{j_k}$. Let $C_n$ be the Catalan numbers, and let $B_n$ be the central binomial coefficients. Then for random Dyck paths or simple random walk bridges, the multifold convolutions give moments of returns to the origin, using the stars-and-bars problem. There are well-known explicit formulas for the multifold convolutions of $C_n$ and $B_n$. But even for combinatorial sequences $B_n^2$ and $B_n^3$, one may determine asymptotics of multifold convolutions for large $n$. We also discuss large deviations: In a second part of the paper we consider an elementary version of the circle method for calculating asymptotics using complex analysis.
