Gauge-string duality, monomial bases and graph determinants
Questions at the intersection of the AdS/CFT correspondence and quantum information theory motivate the study of projectors in sequences of subalgebras of finite-dimensional commutative associative semisimple algebras $\mathcal{A}$, obtained by incrementally adjoining one generator at each step to produce a non-linear generating set for $\mathcal{A}$. We define degeneracy graphs, which are finite layered tree graphs whose nodes represent projectors in the successive subalgebras. Using combinatorial properties of the degeneracy graph, we give a simple formula for constructing a linear basis of $\mathcal{A}$ in terms of monomials in the generators. The nodes can be labelled by formal variables corresponding to the eigenvalues of the generators added at each layer. We prove that the construction is compatible with the required counting of projectors in $\mathcal{A}$, and give explicit constructions of the projectors in terms of the monomials, in the cases of one- and two-layer degeneracy graphs with arbitrary numbers of nodes. More generally, we provide extensive computational evidence for the invertibility of the matrix relating the proposed monomial basis to the projector basis, by evaluating its determinant. In the 1-layer case, this is a Vandermonde determinant. A simple formula for the non-vanishing determinant in the general layer case is conjectured and supported by the computational data. The construction is illustrated with examples including centres of symmetric group algebras and maximally commuting subalgebras generated by JucysMurphy elements. We outline applications of the monomial basis to algorithms for constructing matrix units in non-commutative semisimple algebras, with relevance to orthogonal bases of multi-matrix gauge-invariant operators and to quantum information theory.

Measures on Cameron's treelike classes and applications to tensor categories
Measures on Fraïssé classes are a key input in the Harman--Snowden (2022) construction of tensor categories. Treelike Fraïssé classes provide a particularly tractable source of examples. In this paper, we complete the classification of measures on Cameron's elementary treelike classes. In particular, for the class $\partial \mathfrak{T}_3(n)$ of node-colored rooted binary tree structures with $n$ colors, we classify measures by an explicit bijection with directed rooted trees edge-labeled by $\{1, \dots, n\}$ with a distinguished vertex, yielding $(2n+2)^n$ distinct $\mathbb{Z}\left[\frac{1}{2}\right]$-valued measures. For each $n \geq 1$, we use a family of measures $μ_n^I$ and their supports $\partial \mathfrak{T}_3(n)^{\mathrm{ord}}_I$ (where $I \subseteq \{1, \dots, n\}$) to construct the Karoubi envelopes $\mathbf{Rep}(\partial \mathfrak{T}_3(n)^{\mathrm{ord}}_I;μ^I_n)$, producing infinite families of semisimple tensor categories with superexponential growth that cannot be obtained via Deligne's interpolation of representation categories. We also prove the nonexistence of measures on the $n$-colored tree class $C_n\mathfrak{T}$ for $n \geq 2$ and the labeled tree class $L \mathfrak{T}$, extending Snowden's results for uncolored trees.

Mirabolic Hecke algebras, Schur-Weyl duality and Frobenius character formulas
We first introduce a new presentation for the mirabolic Hecke algebra $\mathscr{H}_{n,R}(q)$ over an arbitrary commutative ring $R$ and derive a new basis. Based on this presentation, specializing to the case of $\mathscr{H}_n(q)$ over the field $\mathbb{C}(q)$, we construct a basis for the cocenter of $\mathscr{H}_n(q)$, which facilitates the definition of its character table. We further establish a Schur--Weyl duality between $\mathscr{H}_n(q)$ and the quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_r)$. As an application, we obtain Frobenius character formulas for the irreducible characters of $\mathscr{H}_n(q)$ within the ring of symmetric functions. Finally, we derive a recursive Murnaghan--Nakayama rule for the computation of the character table.

Seidel product formula in equivariant quantum $K$-theory of flag varieties
We prove a Seidel product formula for the torus-equivariant quantum $K$-theory of a generalized flag variety $G/P.$ This is a natural generalization of the corresponding results by Buch, Chaput, and Perrin for the cominuscule flag varieties. Our proof is based on the $K$-theoretic Peterson isomorphism, due to Kato. We also use a version of the $K$-theoretic nil-Hecke algebra associated with the extended affine Weyl group, which was studied by Ikeda, Shimozono, and Yamaguchi.

Subdivision and Runner Removal Theorems

We develop a combinatorial framework for the subdivision map -- introduced by Maksimau, Mathas and Tubbenhauer -- between the KLR(W) algebras of type $A^{(1)}_{e-1}$ and type $A^{(1)}_{e}$, which provides a partial categorification of the runner removal theorems.

Equivariant log concavity and the $\operatorname{FI^\sharp}$-module structure on $H^i(\operatorname{Conf}(n,\mathbb{R}^d))$
Published • View Publication • BIB
Previous work has conjectured that the graded $\mathfrak{S}_n$-representations $H^\bullet(\operatorname{Conf}(n,\mathbb{R}^d);\mathbb{Q})$ are strongly equivariantly log concave, and has proven this conjecture in low degrees. By leveraging the theory of representation stability, we are able instead prove a stronger statement about the $\operatorname{FI^\sharp}$-module structure on $H^i(\operatorname{Conf}(n,\mathbb{R}^d);\mathbb{Q})$ which implies the original conjecture up to degree 19. We conjecture that this equivariant log concavity-like property holds in all degrees for the $\operatorname{FI^\sharp}$-modules $H^i(\operatorname{Conf}(n,\mathbb{R}^d);\mathbb{Q})$.

On the expansion formulas of cluster varieties from surfaces and their combinatorial properties
Published • View Publication • BIB
This paper explores the cluster algebra structure of the moduli space $\mathscr{A}_{\mathrm{SL}_{n+1},\mathbb{S}}$ of twisted $\mathrm{SL}_{n+1}$-local systems on a surface. We derive general recurrence relations for cluster variables arising from flips of a triangulation, corresponding to specific sequences of mutations. Our approach is grounded in a detailed combinatorial analysis over the standard $n$-triangulated $m$-gon (with explicit calculations for $n=1,2$). As a generalization, the non-simply-laced $G_2$ type is also considered. We prove the "well-triangulated" property for cluster mutations under flips, which provides a combinatorial framework for understanding the stability and transformation rules of these cluster algebra structures, and compute the monomial counts for the cluster expansion formula.

Pólya enumeration, wreath product symmetric functions, and moduli spaces of curves
We develop a calculus for $S_n$-equivariant Euler characteristics of moduli spaces of stable curves and stable maps. Our approach involves an enrichment of Pólya's cycle index polynomial of a graph to a certain algebra $Λ^{[2]}$ of wreath product symmetric functions. Building on foundational work of Macdonald, we prove that $Λ^{[2]}$ may be viewed as the Grothendieck ring of the category of polynomial functors which map symmetric sequences of vector spaces to vector spaces. This interpretation gives rise to an action of $Λ^{[2]}$ on the ordinary ring of symmetric functions $Λ$, which is described concretely in terms of Adams operations and skewing by power sums. This action lets us deduce appealing formulas, involving only ordinary symmetric functions, for generating functions of $S_n$-equivariant Euler characteristics.

Kazhdan-Lusztig bases of parabolic Hecke algebras and applications to Schur-Weyl duality
With an eye to applications to type A and Schur-Weyl duality, we study Kazhdan-Lusztig bases for a general parabolic Hecke algebra. Parabolic Hecke algebras are idempotent subalgebras of Hecke algebras corresponding to parabolic subgroups, and for type A they coincide with the fused Hecke algebras appearing in a generalisation of the Schur-Weyl duality with the quantum group of GL(N). In this paper we investigate two different Kazhdan-Lusztig bases for parabolic Hecke algebras, together with the associated cells and the corresponding representations. We quickly specialise to type A, for which we describe the cells in terms of the RSK correspondence generalising thus the well-known description for the symmetric group. As a first application we recover the classification of irreducible representations of parabolic Hecke algebras of type A and provide a new construction of these representations. Next we turn to the Schur-Weyl duality and describe the kernel in terms of one the basis studied precedently. Moreover, we formulate some conjectures about a generator of these kernels in terms of Kazhdan-Lusztig basis elements, give some evidence and prove these conjectures in some special cases.
On factorization of matrix of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials
Let $\mathcal{H} = \mathcal{H}(W,S)$ be the Hecke algebra of the Coxeter system $(W,S)$ over $\mathbb{Z}[q^{\pm1}]$, where $W$ is the Weyl group of a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra. In this paper, we show that the matrix of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials of $\mathcal{H}$ factorizes into a product of $|S|$ many matrices, each of which has entries as polynomials in $q$ with nonnegative coefficients. To achieve this goal, we use hybrid basis $TC^J$ for $J\subseteq S$ of $\mathcal{H}$, defined by Grojnowski-Haiman. The intermediate matrices in the aforementioned factorization turn out to be the transition matrices from $TC^J$-basis to $TC^I$-basis for $I\subset J$. Equivalently, these coefficients can be computed using a natural restriction map from $\mathcal{H}$ to the parabolic Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}_J$. Moreover, following the ideas from Grojnowski-Haiman, we also give a geometric proof of the positivity of these coefficients.

Overview on the theory of double flag varieties for symmetric pairs
Published in Loke, Hung Yean (ed.) et al., Representations and characters. Singapore: World Scientific. Lect. Notes Ser. Inst. Math. Sci. Natl. Univ. Singap. 45, 137-224 (2026) • View Publication • BIB
Let $ G $ be a connected reductive algebraic group and its symmetric subgroup $ K $. The variety $ \dblFV = K/Q \times G/P $ is called a double flag variety, where $ Q $ and $ P $ are parabolic subgroups of $ K $ and $ G $ respectively. In this article, we make a survey on the theory of double flag varieties for a symmetric pair $ (G, K) $ and report entirely new results and theorems on this theory. Most important topic is the finiteness of $ K $-orbits on $ \dblFV $. We summarize the classification of $ \dblFV $ of finite type, which are scattered in the literatures. In some respects such classifications are complete, and in some cases not. In particular, we get a classification of double flag varieties of finite type when a symmetric pair is of type AIII, using the theorems of Homma who describes ``indecomposable'' objects of such double flag varieties. Together with these classifications, newly developed embedding theory provides double flag varieties of finite type, which are new. Other ingredients in this article are Steinberg theory, generalization of Robinson-Schensted correspondence, and orbit classification via quiver representations. We hope this article is useful for those who want to study the theory of double flag varieties.

A weighted Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for $(P, w)$-partitions
Published in European Journal of Combinatorics, Volume 134, April 2026, 104332 • View Publication • BIB
The $(P, w)$-partition generating function $K_{(P,w)}(x)$ is a quasisymmetric function obtained from a labeled poset. Recently, Liu and Weselcouch gave a formula for the coefficients of $K_{(P,w)}(x)$ when expanded in the quasisymmetric power sum function basis. This formula generalizes the classical Murnaghan--Nakayama rule for Schur functions. We extend this result to weighted $(P, w)$-partitions and provide a short combinatorial proof, avoiding the Hopf algebra machinery used by Liu--Weselcouch.
A determinantal point process approach to scaling and local limits of random Young tableaux
Published in The Annals of Probability, vol. 53, no. 1, 2025, pp. 299-354 • View Publication • BIB
We obtain scaling and local limit results for large random Young tableaux of fixed shape $λ^0$ via the asymptotic analysis of a determinantal point process due to Gorin and Rahman (2019). More precisely, we prove: (1) an explicit description of the limiting surface of a uniform random Young tableau of shape $λ^0$, based on solving a complex-valued polynomial equation; (2) a simple criteria to determine if the limiting surface is continuous in the whole domain; (3) and a local limit result in the bulk of a random Poissonized Young tableau of shape $λ^0$. Our results have several consequences, for instance: they lead to explicit formulas for the limiting surface of $L$-shaped tableaux, generalizing the results of Pittel and Romik (2007) for rectangular shapes; they imply that the limiting surface for $L$-shaped tableaux is discontinuous for almost-every $L$-shape; and they give a new one-parameter family of infinite random Young tableaux, constructed from the so-called random infinite bead process.
