Hilbert cubes in sets with arithmetic properties
In this paper, we introduce new general frameworks for estimating the maximal dimension of Hilbert cubes contained in finite truncations of arbitrary sets. As applications, we investigate Hilbert cubes in a range of arithmetic sets, including perfect powers, powerful numbers, primes, smooth numbers, and squarefree numbers. Along the way, we substantially sharpen several earlier results of Dietmann-Elshotlz, Erdős-Sárközy-Stewart, Hajdu, and Sárközy, and we obtain bounds that are sharp up to the implied constant in several cases. Additionally, we prove conditional results of independent interest, including an almost sharp uniform upper bound on the number of $k$-th powers in an arithmetic progression for each $k\geq 4$, assuming the ABC conjecture.

On some results of Korobov and Larcher and Zaremba's conjecture
We prove, in particular, the well--known Zaremba conjecture from the theory of continued fractions for any prime denominator. More precisely, we show, firstly, that under some mild conditions, for any sufficiently large $q$, there exists $a$ coprime to $q$ such that all partial quotients of $a/q$ are bounded by $O(\sqrt{\log q})$, and, moreover we find asymptotically tight lower bound for the number of such $a$. Secondly, we obtain a good lower bound for the number $a$ such that the sum of all partial quotients of $a/q$ is bounded by $O(\log q \cdot \sqrt{\log \log q})$. This, accordingly, improves on some results of Korobov and Larcher. Finally, we show that for all sufficiently large $\mathcal{M}$ there are $Ω(q^{1-O(1/\mathcal{M})})$ numbers $a$ coprime to $q$ such that all partial quotients of $a/q$ are bounded by $\mathcal{M}$.

Sharp threshold for universality of cokernels of classical random matrix models over the $p$-adic integers
We prove that $\frac{\log n}{n}$ is the sharp threshold for universality of the distribution of cokernels of random matrices over $\mathbb{Z}_p$. More precisely, let $α_n = \frac{c\log n}{n}$ for a constant $c>0$ and let $A(n)$ be an $α_n$-balanced random matrix over $\mathbb{Z}_p$. For non-symmetric, symmetric, and alternating matrix models, we prove that if $c>1$, then the limiting distribution of the cokernel of $A(n)$ coincides with the universal distribution of the corresponding symmetry type, whereas universality fails at the critical scale $c=1$. This improves earlier universality results, which required $α_n \gg \frac{\log n}{n}$, to the optimal threshold. As an application, we generalize the universality result for Sylow $p$-subgroups of sandpile groups of Erdős-Rényi random graphs to a broader class of Erdős-Rényi graph sequences. Our approach is based on a unified framework that simultaneously treats all symmetry types of random matrices as well as the random graph model, rather than handling each case separately.
Jacobian graphs
We introduce jacobian graphs, which are explicit families of regular graphs that are spectrally indistinguishable from random graphs, but whose local structure is very different from that of random graphs. The construction relies on the geometric properties of generalized jacobians of curves and on general equidistribution theorems for character sums over finite fields.
Combinatorial designs and the Prouhet--Tarry--Escott problem
This is the first paper that provides a systematic treatment of the $r$-dimensional PTE problem in additive number theory, abbreviated by PTE$_r$, through its connection with combinatorial design theory, the branch of combinatorial mathematics that deals with finite set systems or arrangements with the ^^ balancedness' conditions. We first propose a combinatorial reconsideration of the definition of nontrivial solution introduced by Alpers and Tijdeman (2007), and then prove a fundamental lower bound for the size of such solutions. We exhibit high-dimensional minimal solutions with respect to the fundamental bound, which inherently have the structure of distinctive block designs or orthogonal arrays (OAs). Next, we develop a powerful method for constructing PTE$_r$ solutions via various classes of combinatorial designs such as block designs and OAs. Furthermore, we explore two dimension-lifting methods for constructing PTE$_r$ solutions: one is a combinatorial composition that produces PTE$_r$ solutions by embedding lower-dimensional solutions into OAs with $r$ columns, and the other is a recursive technique in which a PET$_r$ solution is constructed by taking the Cartesian product of two lower-dimensional solutions. It is emphasized that our results generalize many previous works, including a measure-theoretic construction by Lorentz (1949) and its geometric analog by Alpers and Tijdeman (2007), a key lemma in Jacroux's work (1995) on the construction of sets of integers with equal power sums, and the famous Borwein solution and its two-dimensional extension by Matsumura and Sawa (2025). In addition, we prove a characterization theorem for ideal solutions of the PTE$_1$ and discuss the connection with a curious phenomenon, called half-integer design, that is rarely reported in the combinatorial design theory or spherical design theory.

On an Overpartition Analogue of $SOME(n)$
Recently, Andrews and Dastidar introduced the partition function $SOME(n)$, defined as the sum of all the odd parts in the partitions of $n$ minus the sum of all the even parts in the partitions of $n$. They derived its generating function and established some congruences satisfied by \(SOME(n)\). In this paper, we introduce an overpartition analogue of $SOME(n)$, denoted by $\overline{SOME}(n)$, the sum of all the odd parts in the overpartitions of \(n\) minus the sum of all the even parts in the overpartitions of \(n\). We derive the generating function for $\overline{SOME}(n)$ and obtain congruences modulo \(3, \ 5\) and powers of \(2\). Our method is based on classical $q$-series identities and manipulations of infinite products and sums.
Hook Length Biases in $t$-Core Partitions
Recently, the theory of hook length biases has emerged as a prominent research topic. Led by Ballantine, Burson, Craig, Folsom, and Wen [\textit{Res. Math. Sci.}, 2023], hook length biases are being explored for ordinary partitions, odd versus distinct partitions, self-conjugate versus distinct odd partitions. Lately, Singh and Barman [\textit{J. Number Theory}, 2024] opened the door to hook length biases in $\ell$-regular partitions. In this work, we extend the theory of hook length biases to $t$-core partitions. For example, let $a_{t,k}(n)$ denote the number of hooks of length $k$ in all $t$-core partitions of $n$, then we find that $a_{3,1}(n)\ge a_{3,2}(n) \ge a_{3,4}(n)$ and $a_{4,1}(n)\ge a_{4,3}(n)$ for all $n$. The methods employed in this work are mainly combinatorial.

On the Green-Tao theorem for sparse sets
We establish the following quantitative form of the Green--Tao theorem: if a set $\mathcal{A}$ of relative density $δ$ within the primes up to $N$ contains no nontrivial arithmetic progressions of length $k\geq 4$, then $δ\ll \exp(-(\log \log \log N)^{c_k})$ for some $c_k>0$. This improves on previous work of Rimanić and Wolf. The main new ingredients in the proof are a version of the Leng--Sah--Sawhney quasipolynomial inverse theorem for unbounded functions and a dense model theorem with quasipolynomial dependencies, which may be of independent interest.

The Hofstadter consecutive-sum sequence omits infinitely many positive integers
Let $(a_n)_{n\ge 1}$ be the greedy self-generating sequence defined by $a_1=1$, $a_2=2$, and, for $k\ge 3$, by taking $a_k$ to be the least integer greater than $a_{k-1}$ that can be written as a sum of at least two consecutive earlier terms. Hofstadter asked about the asymptotic behavior of this sequence. In this paper we prove that $$ n+ω(1)\le a_n \ll n^{4175/2506+o(1)}. $$ In particular, $(a_n)_{n\ge1}$ omits infinitely many positive integers, thereby settling a conjecture from the OEIS entry A005243.

Finiteness of specializations of the $q$-deformed modular group at roots of unity
Recently, Morier-Genoud and Ovsienko introduced the $q$-deformed modular group. For construction, they first gave a group $G_q \subset \operatorname{GL}(2, {\mathbb Z}[q^{\pm}])$ and then set $\operatorname{PSL}_q(2,{\mathbb Z}):=G_q/Z(G_q)$. We show that for $ζ\in {\mathbb C}^*$, $\operatorname{PSL}_q(2,{\mathbb Z})|_{q=ζ}$ is finite, if and only if so is $G_q(ζ):=G_q|_{q=ζ} \subset \operatorname{GL}(2,{\mathbb C})$, if and only if $ζ=ζ_n$ for $n=2,3,4,5$, where $ζ_n$ is a primitive $n$-th root of unity. Moreover, $G_q(ζ_n) \cap \operatorname{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$ is isomorphic to the binary tetrahedral group (resp. the binary icosahedral group), if $n=3,4$ (resp. $n=5$). When $n=6$, the groups are infinite, but still "mild". We also give several applications (e.g., the special values of the normalized Jones polynomials of rational links).

Ramanujan Complexes from Unitary Groups over Number Fields
In this article, we construct new families of Ramanujan complexes with local structure distinct from all previously known examples. Our approach is based on unitary groups over number fields, more specifically on what we call super-definite unitary groups, that is definite unitary groups that are anisotropic modulo their center at a finite place. These arise naturally as groups of units in central division algebras with involution of the second kind. Our first main result gives a general construction of infinite families of Ramanujan complexes associated with a super-definite unitary group $G$ over a totally real number field and a finite place $v_0$. The structure of the resulting complex is governed by the type of the Bruhat-Tits building at $v_0$. It includes new examples of type $A_n$ when $v_0$ is split, and novel families of type ${}^2\!A'_n$, ${}^2 \! A''_n$ (with $n$ even), $B$-$C_n$, ${}^2 \! B$-$C_n$ and $C$-$BC_n$ in the non-split case. This construction works uniformly across all ranks. Since much of the motivation for constructing expander complexes comes from computer science, we investigate the algorithmic explicitness of our construction in the latter part of the paper, and provide an example in rank 5 where it becomes fully explicit. In particular, this example yields golden gates for the real Lie group $PU(5)$.

Uniform sum-product phenomenon for algebraic groups and Bremner's conjecture
In this paper we combine methods from additive combinatorics and Diophantine geometry to study the generalised sum-product phenomenon in algebraic groups. As an application of this circle of ideas, we resolve a conjecture of Bremner on arithmetic progressions in coordinates of elliptic curves, along with various other generalisations studied in the literature. We also prove a uniform Bourgain--Chang-type sum-product estimate for general $1$-dimensional algebraic groups $G$ over $\mathbb{C}$. Using these ideas, we provide an alternative solution to a problem of Bays--Breuillard. Furthermore, we show an Elekes--Szabó type result in the same setting for sets with small doubling, improving upon an earlier result of Bays--Breuillard when $G$ is not $\mathbb{G}_a$. Our power saving here can be shown to be quantitatively optimal. We use a combination of deep, classical results in Diophantine geometry due to David--Philippon, Laurent and Evertse--Schmidt--Schlickewei along with the recent breakthrough work on the weak Polynomial Freiman--Ruzsa conjecture over integers due to Gowers--Green--Manners--Tao.

Andrews--Gordon type identities with parity restrictions through particle motion
In this paper, we use the particle motion bijection introduced by Warnaar and developed by the two authors, Jouhet and Konan, to study q-series and partition identities of the Andrews--Gordon type with parity restrictions. These restrictions are of the type ``even (resp. odd) parts appear an even number of times". We prove $q$-series identities where a multisum equals a sum of products, which generalise identities of Andrews and Kim--Yee in a similar way that Stanton's identities generalised the Andrews--Gordon identities. As a consequence of our results, we obtain a simple proof of a recent identity of Chern--Li--Stanton--Xue--Yee related to Ariki--Koike algebras.

Abelian-normal decimal expansions
Many research works have concerned normality-preserving selection rules and operations on the sequence of digits of a given normal number that maintain or violate normality. This leads us to introduce rearrangement operations on finite subwords appearing within the digit expansions of normal numbers, and this is inspired by the concept of an abelian complexity function in the field of combinatorics on words. We introduce the concept of an abelian-normal number, with respect to a given base and a given weighting/counting function on subwords, by analogy with normal numbers and with the use of the equivalence classes associated with abelian complexity functions. We then construct a non-normal analogue $D_{10}$ of Champernowne's constant $C_{10}$ and prove that $D_{10}$ is abelian-normal with respect to a given weighting function. We conclude with two open problems concerning our Champernowne-like constant $D_{10}$.

Restricted set addition in finite abelian groups
Let $A$ be a nonempty subset of finite abelian group $G$ of order $n$. For an integer $h \geq 2$, the restricted $h$-fold sumset $h^\wedge A$ is the set of all sums of $h$ distinct elements of $A$. It is known that if $G$ is a group of order $n$ and $A$ is a subset of $G$ such that $|A|$ is close to $\frac{n}{2}$, then $h^{\wedge}A = G$ under some conditions on $h$ and $n$. The constant $\frac{1}{2}$ is optimal for groups of even order but not for groups of odd order. For an integer $h \geq 4$, let $α_h$ be the unique positive root of the polynomial $3^{h - 2} x^{h - 1} + x - 1$. In this paper, we show that for any $α> α_h$, there exists a positive integer $M_h(α)$, which is determined precisely, such that for all $n > M_h(α)$ with $n$ odd, if $A$ is a subset of a finite abelian group $G$ of order $n$ and if $|A| \geq αn$, then $h^{\wedge} A = G$. Moreover, $α_h > α_{h + 1}$ for $h \geq 4$ and $α_h$ approaches $\frac{1}{3}$ as $h$ increases, and the constant $\frac{1}{3}$ is optimal. This result generalizes a result of Tang and Wei for $4^{\wedge}A$ in the cyclic group $\mathbb{Z}_n$ to arbitrary finite abelian groups.
The $p$-Dissection of a Product of Quintuple Products
Let $p \equiv 1 \pmod{4}$ be prime, let $m$ and $n$ be integers such that $p=m^2+n^2$, and let $b$ be a positive integer. Let $Q(z,q) = (z,q/z,q;q)_{\infty}(qz^2,q/z^2;q^2)_{\infty}$ denote the product appearing in the quintuple product identity. We derive explicit formulae for the $p$-dissection of $Q(q^{bm},q^p)Q(q^{bn},q^p)$, and determine sign patterns in length-$p$ arithmetic progressions of the Taylor series coefficients of the associated quotient $Q(q^{bm},q^{p})Q(q^{bn},q^p)/(q^p;q^p)_{\infty}^2$. Some combinatorial applications of the $p$-dissection formulae are also given.

SIP classes and four-parameter partition identities
The four-parameter weight of partitions played an important role in the theory of integer partitions, for its connection with various statistics, including the alternating sum and the BG-rank. In 2022, Andrews introduced the SIP classes, by which he reviewed a number of classic partition identities and provided new combinatorial insights. In this work, we extend the SIP classes and provide a unified method to study the four-parameter weight of partitions. By treating partitions with position parity as examples, we provide four-parameter partition identities related to these partition sets. And as corollary, we also present the generating functions that keep track of the BG-rank and the joint distribution of the number of odd parts and the alternating sum, respectively.
Monochromatic sums and quotients in $\mathbb N$
We prove partition regularity of the configuration $x,y,x+y,y/x$ in a strong infinitary form that extends Hindman's Theorem. We study the related issue of partition regularity of configurations involving products of a degree one polynomial in $x$ with one in $y$, reducing the general problem to a handful of special cases.
Horizontal Kakeya maximal operators in finite Heisenberg groups: Exact exponents and applications
We study Kakeya maximal operators associated with horizontal lines in finite Heisenberg groups $\mathbb H_n(\mathbb F_q)$. For the operator parameterized only by projective horizontal directions, we show that projection to $\mathbb F_q^{2n}$ reduces the problem to the affine finite field Kakeya maximal operator, and we determine the exact $\ell^u \to \ell^v$ growth exponent for all $n$ and all $1 \le u,v \le \infty$. We then introduce a refined-direction operator that also records the central slope of a horizontal line. In $\mathbb H_1(\mathbb F_q)$, we prove the sharp $\ell^2 \to \ell^2$ estimate \[ \|M_{\mathbb H_1}^{\mathrm{rd}}F\|_{\ell^2(D_1)} \lesssim q^{1/2}\|F\|_{\ell^2(\mathbb H_1(\mathbb F_q))}, \] deduce the exact mixed-norm exponent formula, and obtain lower bounds for horizontal Heisenberg Kakeya sets with prescribed refined directions. The argument is purely Fourier-analytic and does not use the polynomial method. An outlook toward a new approach to the affine Kakeya problem in $\mathbb{F}_q^3$ will be discussed in this paper.
