Isometry groups of Polish ultrametric spaces
We solve a long-standing open problem, formulated by Krasner in the 1950's, in the context of Polish (i.e. separable complete) ultrametric spaces by providing a characterization of their isometry groups using suitable forms of generalized wreath products of full permutation groups. Since our solution is developed in the finer context of topological (Polish) groups, it also solves a problem of Gao and Kechris from 2003. Furthermore, we provide an exact correspondence between the isometry groups of Polish ultrametric spaces belonging to some natural subclasses and various kinds of generalized wreath products proposed in the literature by Hall, Holland, and Malicki.
Wreath Generalization of Littlewood Reciprocity
Given any $m$-dimensional complex representation $η$ of a finite group $G$ and any highest weight representation $V^λ$ of $\mathrm{GL}_{nm}(\mathbb{C})$ we may define an action of $G^n \rtimes \mathfrak{S}_n$ on $V^λ$ using the embedding $\mathrm{GL}_{m}(\mathbb{C})^n \rtimes \mathfrak{S}_n \leq \mathrm{GL}_{nm}(\mathbb{C})$ and $η: G \rightarrow \mathrm{GL}_m(\mathbb{C})$. We derive a branching rule for the multiplicities of irreducible $G^n \rtimes \mathfrak{S}_n$ representations in $V^λ.$ The formula generalizes Littlewood's reciprocity rule for branching between $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C})$ and the symmetric group of permutation matrices $\mathfrak{S}_n \leq \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C}).$
Five-Term Relations for wreath Macdonald polynomials and tableau formulas for Pieri coefficients
We present a variety of new identities involving operators in the theory of wreath Macdonald polynomials. One such family of identities gives five-term relations, analogous to the one given by Garsia and Mellit for the modified Macdonald polynomials. As a consequence, we generate tableau formulas for wreath Macdonald Pieri coefficients, which give an incredibly quick way of computing their monomial expansions.
Probability measures on families of partitions related to harmonic analysis on big wreath products
We construct generalized regular representations of the wreath product of a compact group with the infinite symmetric group. The characters of these representations are determined by probability measures on families of partitions called the $z$-measures for the wreath product of a compact group with the symmetric group in the present paper. Our main result is an explicit formula for these $z$-measures which holds true for an arbitrary compact group. The result enables us to describe the spectral measures of the generalized regular representations of big wreath products.
Tesler identities for wreath Macdonald polynomials
We give an explicit formula for an operator that sends a wreath Macdonald polynomial to the delta function at a character associated to its partition. This allows us to prove many new results for wreath Macdonald polynomials, especially pertaining to reciprocity: Macdonald--Koornwinder duality, evaluation formulas, etc. Additionally, we initiate the study of wreath interpolation Macdonald polynomials, derive a plethystic formula for wreath $(q,t)$-Kostka coefficients, and present series solutions to the bispectral problem involving wreath Macdonald operators. Our approach is to use the eigenoperators for wreath Macdonald polynomials that have been produced from quantum toroidal and shuffle algebras.
Color rules for cyclic wreath products and semigroup algebras from projective toric varieties
We introduce the notion of "color rules" for computing class functions of $Z_k \wr S_n$, where $Z_k$ is the cyclic group of order $k$ and $S_n$ is the symmetric group on $n$ letters. Using a general sign-reversing involution and a map of order $k$, we give a combinatorial proof that the irreducible decomposition of these class functions is given by a weighted sum over semistandard tableaux in the colors. Since using two colors at once is also a color rule, we are consequently able to decompose arbitrary tensor products of representations whose characters can be computed via color rules. This method extends to class functions of $G \wr S_n$ where $G$ is a finite abelian group. We give a number of applications, including decomposing tensor powers of the defining representation, along with a combinatorial proof of the Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for $Z_k \wr S_n$.
Our main application is to the study of the linear action of $Z_k \wr S_n$ on bigraded affine semigroup algebras arising from the product of projective toric varieties. In the case of the product of projective spaces, our methods give the decomposition of these bigraded characters into irreducible characters, thus deriving equivariant generalizations of Euler-Mahonian identities.
Free Inhomogeneous Wreath Product of Quantum Groups
We introduce the free inhomogeneous wreath product of compact matrix quantum groups, which generalizes the free wreath product (Bichon 2004). We use this to present a general technique to determine quantum automorphism groups of connected graphs in terms of their maximal biconnected subgraphs, provided that we have sufficient information about their quantum automorphism groups. We show that this requirement is met for forests, outerplanar graphs, and block graphs leading to algorithms to compute the quantum automorphism groups of these graphs.
Invariant theory for wreath products acting on superpolynomials
This paper considers a finite group $G$ acting linearly on the variables $V$ of a polynomial algebra, or an exterior algebra, or superpolynomial algebra with both commuting and anticommuting variables. In this setting, the Hilbert series for the $G$-invariant subalgebra turns out to determine the analogous Hilbert series for the wreath product $P[G]$ acting on $V^n$ for any permutation group $P$ inside the symmetric group $S_n$ on $n$ letters.
This leads to a structural result: one can collate the direct sum for all $n$ of the $S_n[G]$-invariant subalgebras to form a graded ring via an external shuffle product, whose structure turns out to be a superpolynomial algebra generated by the $G$-invariants. A parallel statement holds for the direct sum of all $S_n[G]$-antiinvariants, which forms a graded ring via an external signed shuffle product, isomorphic to the superexterior algebra generated by the $G$-invariants.

We consider the descent and flag major index statistics on the colored permutation groups, which are wreath products of the form $\mathfrak{S}_{n,r}=\mathbb{Z}_r\wr \mathfrak{S}_n$. We show that the $k$-th moments of these statistics on $\mathfrak{S}_{n,r}$ will coincide with the corresponding moments on all conjugacy classes without cycles of lengths $1,2,\ldots,2k$. Using this, we establish the asymptotic normality of the descent and flag major index statistics on conjugacy classes of $\mathfrak{S}_{n,r}$ with sufficiently long cycles. Our results generalize prior work of Fulman involving the descent and major index statistics on the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$. Our methods involve an intricate extension of Fulman's work on $\mathfrak{S}_n$ combined with the theory of the degree for a colored permutation statistic, as introduced by Campion Loth, Levet, Liu, Sundaram, and Yin.
The wreath matrix
Let $k\leq n$ be positive integers and $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$ be the set of integers modulo $n$. A conjecture of Baranyai from 1974 asks for a decomposition of $k$-element subsets of $\mathbb{Z}_{n}$ into particular families of sets called "wreaths". We approach this conjecture from a new algebraic angle by introducing the key object of this paper, the wreath matrix $M$. As our first result, we establish that Baranyai's conjecture is equivalent to the existence of a particular vector in the kernel of $M$. We then employ results from representation theory to study $M$ and its spectrum in detail. In particular, we find all eigenvalues of $M$ and their multiplicities, and identify several families of vectors which lie in the kernel of $M$.

Let $ι_{k}(m,l)$ denote the total number of intervals of length $m$ across all Dyck paths of semilength $k$ such that each interval contains precisely $l$ falls. We give the formula for $ι_{k}(m,l)$ and show that $ι_{k}(k,l)=\binom{k}{l}^2$. Motivated by this, we propose two stronger variants of the wreath conjecture due to Baranyai for $n=2k+1$.

A relation between certain irreducible character values of the hyperoctahedral group $B_n$ ($\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z} \wr S_n$) and the symmetric group $S_{2n}$ was proved by F. Lübeck and D. Prasad in 2021. Their proof is algebraic in nature and uses Lie theory. Using combinatorial methods, R. Adin and Y. Roichman proved a similar relation between certain character values of $G\wr S_n$ and $S_{rn}$, where $G$ is an abelian group of order $r$ (generalizing the result of Lübeck-Prasad). Using their result, we prove yet another relation between certain irreducible character values of $G\wr S_n$ and $S_{rn}$, where $G$ is an abelian group of order $r$.

We affirm most open cases of a conjecture that first appeared in Alspach et al. (1987) which stipulates that the wreath (lexicographic) product of two hamiltonian decomposable directed graphs is also hamiltonian decomposable. Specifically, we show that the wreath product of a hamiltonian decomposable directed graph $G$, such that $|V(G)|$ is even and $|V(G)|\geqslant 2$, with a hamiltonian decomposable directed graph $H$, such that $|V(H)| \geqslant 4$, is also hamiltonian decomposable except possibly when $G$ is a directed cycle and $H$ is a directed graph of odd order that admits a decomposition into $c$ directed hamiltonian cycle where $c$ is odd and $3\leqslant c \leqslant |V(H)|-2$.
Revisiting Foulkes characters of wreath products
The article is concerned with the Foulkes characters of wreath products, which are block characters of wreath products, i.e., the positive-definite class functions depending only on the length of its elements. Inspired by the works of Gnedin--Gorin--Kerov and Miller, we introduce two specializations of the Schur--Weyl--Sergeev duality for wreath products and obtain two families of block characters, which provide a decomposition and an alternative construction of the Foulkes characters of wreath products. In particular, we give alternative proofs on some remarkable properties of the Foulkes characters. Along the way, we show that the Foulkes characters are the extreme rays of the cone of the block characters of wreath products and construct the representations with traces being the Foulkes characters via the coinvariant algebra of wreath products.
Representation stability in the (co)homology of vertical configuration spaces
In this paper, we study sequences of topological spaces called "vertical configuration spaces" of points in Euclidean space. We apply the theory of FI$_G$-modules, and results of Bianchi-Kranhold, to show that their (co)homology groups are "representation stable" with respect to natural actions of wreath products $S_k \wr S_n$. In particular, we show that in each (co)homological degree, the (co)homology groups (viewed as $S_k \wr S_n$-representations) can be expressed as induced representations of a specific form. Consequently, the characters of their rational (co)homology groups, and the patterns of irreducible $S_k \wr S_n$-representation constituents of these groups, stabilize in a strong sense. In addition, we give a new proof of rational (co)homological stability for unordered vertical configuration spaces, with an improved stable range.

Starting with an integral domain $D$ of characteristic $0$, we consider a class of iterated wreath product $W_n$ of $n$ copies of $D$. In order that $W_n$ be transfinite hypercentral, it is necessary to restrict to the case of wreath products defined by way of numerical polynomials. We also associate to each of these groups a Lie ring, providing a correspondence preserving most of the structure. This construction generalizes a result of \cite{netreba} which characterizes the Lie algebras associated to the Sylow \(p\)-subgroups of the symmetric group \(\Sym(p^n)\). As an application, we explore the normalizer chain $\lbrace\mathbf{N}_{i}\rbrace_{i\geq -1}$ starting from the canonical regular abelian subgroup $T$ of $W_n$. Finally, we characterize the regular abelian normal subgroups of $\mathbf{N}_0$ that are isomorphic to $D^n$.

We study the $K$-theoretic enumerative geometry of cyclic Nakajima quiver varieties, with particular focus on $\text{Hilb}^{m}([\mathbb{C}^{2}/\mathbb{Z}_{l}])$, the equivariant Hilbert scheme of points on $\mathbb{C}^2$. The direct sum over $m$ of the equivariant $K$-theories of these varieties is known to be isomorphic to the ring symmetric functions in $l$ colors, with structure sheaves of torus fixed points identified with wreath Macdonald polynomials. Using properties of wreath Macdonald polynomials and the recent identification of the Maulik-Okounkov quantum affine algebra for cyclic quivers with the quantum toroidal algebras of type $A$, we derive an explicit formula for the generating function of capped vertex functions of $\text{Hilb}^{m}([\mathbb{C}^{2}/\mathbb{Z}_{l}])$ with descendants given by exterior powers of the $0$th tautological bundle. We also sharpen the large framing vanishing results of Okounkov, providing a class of descendants and cyclic quiver varieties for which the capped vertex functions are purely classical. Our results also suggest certain integrality and wall-crossing conjectures for capped vertex functions.

We affirm several special cases of a conjecture that first appears in Alspach et al.~(1987) which stipulates that the wreath (lexicographic) product of two hamiltonian decomposable directed graphs is also hamiltonian decomposable. Specifically, we show that the wreath product of hamiltonian decomposable directed graph $G$, such that $|V(G)|$ is even and $|V(G)|\geqslant 3$, with a directed $m$-cycle such that $m \geqslant 4$ or the complete symmetric directed graph on $m$ vertices such that $m\geqslant 3$, is hamiltonian decomposable. We also show the wreath product of a directed $n$-cycle, where $n$ is even, with a directed $m$-cycle, where $m \in \{2,3\}$, is not hamiltonian decomposable.
Transitivity in wreath products with symmetric groups
It is known that the notion of a transitive subgroup of a permutation group $P$ extends naturally to the subsets of $P$. We study transitive subsets of the wreath product $G \wr S_n$, where $G$ is a finite abelian group. This includes the hyperoctahedral group for $G=C_2$. We give structural characterisations of transitive subsets using the character theory of $G \wr S_n$ and interpret such subsets as designs in the conjugacy class association scheme of $G \wr S_n$. In particular, we prove a generalisation of the Livingstone-Wagner theorem and give explicit constructions of transitive sets. Moreover, we establish connections to orthogonal polynomials, namely the Charlier polynomials, and use them to study codes and designs in $C_r \wr S_n$. Many of our results extend results about the symmetric group $S_n$.

Let $G$ be a transitive permutation group on $Ω$. The $G$-invariant partitions form a sublattice of the lattice of all partitions of $Ω$, having the further property that all its elements are uniform (that is, have all parts of the same size). If, in addition, all the equivalence relations defining the partitions commute, then the relations form an \emph{orthogonal block structure}, a concept from statistics; in this case the lattice is modular. If it is distributive, then we have a \emph{poset block structure}, whose automorphism group is a \emph{generalised wreath product}. We examine permutation groups with these properties, which we call the \emph{OB property} and \emph{PB property} respectively, and in particular investigate when direct and wreath products of groups with these properties also have these properties.
A famous theorem on permutation groups asserts that a transitive imprimitive group $G$ is embeddable in the wreath product of two factors obtained from the group (the group induced on a block by its setwise stabiliser, and the group induced on the set of blocks by~$G$). We extend this theorem to groups with the PB property, embeddng them into generalised wreath products. We show that the map from posets to generalised wreath products preserves intersections and inclusions.
We have included background and historical material on these concepts.
