Bijections in weakly increasing trees via binary trees
Published • View Publication • BIB
As a unification of increasing trees and plane trees, the weakly increasing trees labeled by a multiset was introduced by Lin-Ma-Ma-Zhou in 2021. Motived by some symmetries in plane trees proved recently by Dong, Du, Ji and Zhang, we construct four bijections on weakly increasing trees in the same flavor via switching the role of left child and right child of some specified nodes in their corresponding binary trees. Consequently, bijective proofs of the aforementioned symmetries found by Dong et al. and a non-recursive construction of a bijection on plane trees of Deutsch are provided. Applications of some symmetries in weakly increasing trees to permutation patterns and statistics will also be discussed.

Two involutions on binary trees and generalizations
Published • View Publication • BIB
This paper investigates two involutions on binary trees. One is the mirror symmetry of binary trees which combined with the classical bijection $\varphi$ between binary trees and plane trees answers an open problem posed by Bai and Chen. This involution can be generalized to weakly increasing trees, which admits to merge two recent equidistributions found by Bai--Chen and Chen--Fu, respectively. The other one is constructed to answer a bijective problem on di-sk trees asked by Fu--Lin--Wang and can be generalized naturally to rooted labeled trees. This second involution combined with $\varphi$ leads to a new statistic on plane trees whose distribution gives the Catalan's triangle. Moreover, a quadruple equidistribution on plane trees involving this new statistic is proved via a recursive bijection.

A symmetry on weakly increasing trees and multiset Schett polynomials
Published • View Publication • BIB
By considering the parity of the degrees and levels of nodes in increasing trees, a new combinatorial interpretation for the coefficients of the Taylor expansions of the Jacobi elliptic functions is found. As one application of this new interpretation, a conjecture of Ma-Mansour-Wang-Yeh is solved. Unifying the concepts of increasing trees and plane trees, Lin-Ma-Ma-Zhou introduced weakly increasing trees on a multiset. A symmetry joint distribution of "even-degree nodes on odd levels" and "odd-degree nodes" on weakly increasing trees is found, extending the Schett polynomials, a generalization of the Jacobi elliptic functions introduced by Schett, to multisets. A combinatorial proof and an algebraic proof of this symmetry are provided, as well as several relevant interesting consequences. Moreover, via introducing a group action on trees, we prove the partial $γ$-positivity of the multiset Schett polynomials, a result implies both the symmetry and the unimodality of these polynomials.

Ranked Schröder Trees
Published • View Publication • BIB
In biology, a phylogenetic tree is a tool to represent the evolutionary relationship between species. Unfortunately, the classical Schröder tree model is not adapted to take into account the chronology between the branching nodes. In particular, it does not answer the question: how many different phylogenetic stories lead to the creation of n species and what is the average time to get there? In this paper, we enrich this model in two distinct ways in order to obtain two ranked tree models for phylogenetics, i.e. models coding chronology. For that purpose, we first develop a model of (strongly) increasing Schröder trees, symbolically described in the classical context of increasing labeling. Then we introduce a generalization for the labeling with some unusual order constraint in Analytic Combinatorics (namely the weakly increasing trees). Although these models are direct extensions of the Schröder tree model, it appears that they are also in one-to-one correspondence with several classical combinatorial objects. Through the paper, we present these links, exhibit some parameters in typical large trees and conclude the studies with efficient uniform samplers.
