The Theta Conjecture
We define a diagonal-inversion statistic on labeled Dyck paths carrying both decorated rises and decorated contractible valleys. This gives an explicit candidate for a bivariate refinement of the univariate Theta conjecture of D'Adderio, Iraci, and Vanden Wyngaerd, recently proved by D'Adderio, Pagaria, and the authors of this work. The univariate conjecture can be recovered from our bivariate version by setting $q=1$. The new conjecture recovers the rise and valley versions of the Delta conjecture when either decoration parameter vanishes, and provides a combinatorial interpretation of the symmetric function $Θ_{e_l} Θ_{e_k}\nabla e_{n-k-l}$, which is also conjectured to be the Frobenius characteristic of a certain graded module of diagonal coinvariants with two sets of commuting variables and two sets of anticommuting variables. In support of the Theta conjecture and its touching refinement, we prove its Schröder case, that is, the scalar product of the symmetric function side with $e_{n-d} h_d$ matches the combinatorial side restricted to Schröder paths. The proof uses a finer combinatorial argument than the previously known cases, leveraging two Gaussian product identities.

Exchange identities and symmetric slices of the valley Delta conjecture
The valley Delta conjecture of Haglund, Remmel and Wilson predicts that the symmetric function $Δ'_{e_{n-k-1}} e_n$ equals a generating function over labelled Dyck paths with $k$ decorated contractible valleys. Unlike the rise version, which is now a theorem, the valley version remains open; indeed it is not even known that its combinatorial side is symmetric. We prove that the coefficients of $t^0$ and $t^1$ in the valley generating function are symmetric functions for all $n\ge 1$ and $k\ge 0$; equivalently, the fixed-diagonal-multiset slices of area at most one are symmetric. The theorem follows from an adjacent exchange identity for scaffold classes, which we prove in a strictly stronger form refined by the numbers of undecorated rows carrying the labels $r,r+1$ between consecutive rows with other labels. The proof develops a transfer-operator calculus in a $q$-deformed two-variable algebra generated by two commuting half-twists. In this algebra the exchange reduces to two scalar symmetric-series identities for the operator $T=u\mathfrak{d}+v$. We also verify the refined identity computationally at area two over extensive finite ranges and state the resulting general conjecture.

Some consequences of the valley Delta conjectures
Published • View Publication • BIB
In (Haglund, Remmel, Wilson 2018) Haglund, Remmel and Wilson introduced their Delta conjectures, which give two different combinatorial interpretations of the symmetric function $Δ'_{e_{n-k-1}} e_n$ in terms of rise-decorated or valley-decorated labelled Dyck paths respectively. While the rise version has been recently proved (D'Adderio, Mellit 2021; Blasiak, Haiman, Morse, Pun, Seelinger preprint 2021), not much is known about the valley version. In this work we prove the Schröder case of the valley Delta conjecture, the Schröder case of its square version (Iraci, Vanden Wyngaerd 2021), and the Catalan case of its extended version (Qiu, Wilson 2020). Furthermore, assuming the symmetry of (a refinement of) the combinatorial side of the extended valley Delta conjecture, we deduce also the Catalan case of its square version (Iraci, Vanden Wyngaerd 2021).

"Pushing" our way from the valley Delta to the generalised valley Delta
Published • View Publication • BIB
In [Haglund, Remmel, Wilson 2018] the authors state two versions of the so called Delta conjecture, the rise version and the valley version. Of the former, they also give a more general statement in which zero labels are also allowed. In [Qiu, Wilson 2020], the corresponding generalisation of the valley version is also formulated. In [D'Adderio, Iraci, Vanden Wyngaerd 2020], the authors use a pushing algorithm to prove the generalised version of the shuffle theorem. An extension of that argument is used in [Iraci, Vanden Wyngaerd 2020] to formulate a valley version of the (generalised) Delta square conjecture, and to suggest a symmetric function identity later stated and proved in [D'Adderio, Romero 2020]. In this paper, we use the pushing algorithm together with the aforementioned symmetric function identity in order to prove that the valley version of the Delta conjecture implies the valley version of the generalised Delta conjecture, which means that they are actually equivalent. Combining this with the results in [Iraci, Vanden Wyngaerd 2020], we prove that the valley version of the Delta conjecture also implies the corresponding generalised Delta square conjecture.

A valley version of the Delta square conjecture
Published • View Publication • BIB
Inspired by [Qiu, Wilson 2019] and [D'Adderio, Iraci, Vanden Wyngaerd 2019 - Delta Square], we formulate a generalised Delta square conjecture (valley version). Furthermore, we use similar techniques as in [Haglund, Sergel 2019] to obtain a schedule formula for the combinatorics of our conjecture. We then use this formula to prove that the (generalised) valley version of the Delta conjecture implies our (generalised) valley version of the Delta square conjecture. This implication broadens the argument in [Sergel 2016], relying on the formulation of the touching version in terms of the $Θ_f$ operators introduced in [D'Adderio, Iraci, Vanden Wyngaerd 2019 - Theta Operators].

The valley version of the Extended Delta Conjecture
Published • View Publication • BIB
The Shuffle Theorem of Carlsson and Mellit gives a combinatorial expression for the bigraded Frobenius characteristic of the ring of diagonal harmonics, and the Delta Conjecture of Haglund, Remmel and the second author provides two generalizations of the Shuffle Theorem to the delta operator expression $Δ'_{e_k} e_n$. Haglund et al. also propose the Extended Delta Conjecture for the delta operator expression $Δ'_{e_k} Δ_{h_r}e_n$, which is analogous to the rise version of the Delta Conjecture. Recently, D'Adderio, Iraci and Wyngaerd proved the rise version of the Extended Delta Conjecture at the case when $t=0$. In this paper, we propose a new valley version of the Extended Delta Conjecture. Then, we work on the combinatorics of extended ordered multiset partitions to prove that the two conjectures for $Δ'_{e_k} Δ_{h_r}e_n$ are equivalent when $t$ or $q$ equals 0, thus proving the valley version of the Extended Delta Conjecture when $t$ or $q$ equals 0.
