In 1952, Dirac proved that every $2$-connected $n$-vertex graph with the minimum degree $k+1$ contains a cycle of length at least $\min\{n, 2(k+1)\}$. Here we obtain a stability version of this result by characterizing those graphs with minimum degree $k$ and circumference at most $2k+1$.
We present applications of the above-stated result by obtaining generalized Turán numbers. In particular, for all $\ell \geq 5$ we determine how many copies of a five-cycle as well as four-cycle are necessary to guarantee that the graph has circumference larger than $\ell$. In addition, we give a new proof of Luo's Theorem for cliques using our stability result.

The Turán number $ex(n,H)$ is the maximum number of edges in an $H$-free graph on $n$ vertices. Let $T$ be any tree. The odd-ballooning of $T$, denoted by $T_o$, is a graph obtained by replacing each edge of $T$ with an odd cycle containing the edge, and all new vertices of the odd cycles are distinct. In this paper, we determine the exact value of $ex(n,T_o)$ for sufficiently large $n$ and $T_o$ being good, which generalizes all the known results on $ex(n,T_o)$ for $T$ being a star, due to Erdős et al. (1995), Hou et al. (2018) and Yuan (2018), and provides some counterexamples with chromatic number 3 to a conjecture of Keevash and Sudakov (2004), on the maximum number of edges not in any monochromatic copy of $H$ in a $2$-edge-coloring of a complete graph of order $n$.

We introduce the following simpler variant of the Turán problem: Given integers $n>k>r\geq 2$ and $m\geq 1$, what is the smallest integer $t$ for which there exists an $r$-uniform hypergraph with $n$ vertices, $t$ edges and $m$ connected components such that any $k$-subset of the vertex set contains at least one edge? We prove some general estimates for this quantity and for its limit, normalized by $\binom{n}{r}$, as $n\rightarrow \infty$. Moreover, we give a complete solution of the problem for the particular case when $k=5$, $r=3$ and $m\geq 2$.

The generalized Turán number $ex(n,K_s,H)$ is the maximum number of complete graph $K_s$ in an $H$-free graph on $n$ vertices. Let $F_k$ be the friendship graph consisting of $k$ triangles. Erdős and Sós (1976) determined the value of $ex(n,K_3,F_2)$.
Alon and Shikhelman (2016) proved that $ex(n,K_3, F_k)\le (9k-15)(k+1)n.$ In this paper, by using a method developed by Chung and Frankl in hypergraph theory, we determine the exact value of $ex(n,K_3,F_k)$ and the extremal graph for any $F_k$ when $n\ge 4k^3$.

The \emph{minimum positive co-degree} of a non-empty $r$-graph ${H}$, denoted $δ_{r-1}^+( {H})$, is the maximum $k$ such that if $S$ is an $(r-1)$-set contained in a hyperedge of $ {H}$, then $S$ is contained in at least $k$ distinct hyperedges of $ {H}$. Given an $r$-graph ${F}$, we introduce the \emph{positive co-degree Turán number} $\mathrm{co^+ex}(n, {F})$ as the maximum positive co-degree $δ_{r-1}^+(H)$ over all $n$-vertex $r$-graphs $H$ that do not contain $F$ as a subhypergraph.
In this paper we concentrate on the behavior of $\mathrm{co^+ex}(n, {F})$ for $3$-graphs $F$. In particular, we determine asymptotics and bounds for several well-known concrete $3$-graphs $F$ (e.g.\ $K_4^-$ and the Fano plane). We also show that, for $r$-graphs, the limit \[ γ^+(F) := \lim_{n \rightarrow \infty} \frac{\mathrm{co^+ex}(n, {F})}{n} \] exists, and ``jumps'' from $0$ to $1/r$, i.e., it never takes on values in the interval $(0,1/r)$. Moreover, we characterize which $r$-graphs $F$ have $γ^+(F)=0$. Our motivation comes primarily from the study of (ordinary) co-degree Turán numbers where a number of results have been proved that inspire our results.

This paper deals with the minimum number $m_H(r)$ of edges in an $H$-free graph with the chromatic number more than $r$. We show how bounds on Ramsey and Turán numbers imply bounds on $m_H(r)$.
Extremal graphs for odd-ballooning of bipartite graphs
Given a graph $H$ and an odd integer $t$ ($t\geq 3$), the odd-ballooning of $H$, denoted by $H(t)$, is the graph obtained from replacing each edge of $H$ by an odd cycle of length at least $t$ where the new vertices of the cycles are all distinct. In this paper, we determine the range of Turán numbers for odd-ballooning of bipartite graphs when $t\geq 5$. As applications, we may deduce the Turán numbers for odd-ballooning of stars, paths and even cycles.

Let $\mathcal{F}$ denote a set of graphs. A graph $G$ is said to be $\mathcal{F}$-free if it does not contain any element of $\mathcal{F}$ as a subgraph. The Turán number is the maximum possible number of edges in an $\mathcal{F}$-free graph with $n$ vertices. It is well known that classical Turán type extremal problem aims to study the Turán number of fixed graphs. In 2010, Nikiforov \cite{Nik2} proposed analogously a spectral Turán type problem which asks to determine the maximum spectral radius of an $\mathcal{F}$-free graph with $n$ vertices. It attracts much attention and many such problems remained elusive open even after serious attempts, and so they are considered as one of the most intriguing problems in spectral extremal graph theory. It is interesting to consider another spectral Turán type problem which asks to determine the maximum spectral radius of an $\mathcal{F}$-free graph with $m$ edges. Denote by $\mathcal{G}(m,\mathcal{F})$ the set of $\mathcal{F}$-free graphs with $m$ edges having no isolated vertices. Each of the graphs among $\mathcal{G}(m,\mathcal{F})$ having the largest spectral radius is called a maximal graph. Let $θ_{p,q,r}$ be a theta graph formed by connecting two distinct vertices with three independent paths of length $p,q$ and $r,$ respectively (length refers to the number of edges). In this paper, we firstly determine the unique maximal graph among $\mathcal{G}(m,θ_{1,2,3})$ and $\mathcal{G}(m,θ_{1,2,4}),$ respectively. Then we determine all the maximal graphs among $\mathcal{G}(m,C_5)$ (resp. $\mathcal{G}(m,C_6)$) excluding the book graph. These results extend some earlier results.
A note on the Turán number for the traces of hypergraphs
Let $\mathcal{H}$ be an $r$-uniform hypergraph and $F$ be a graph. We say $\mathcal{H}$ contains $F$ as a trace if there exists some set $S\subseteq V(\mathcal{H})$ such that $\mathcal{H}|_{S}:=\{E\cap S: E\in E(\mathcal{H})\}$ contains a subgraph isomorphic to $F.$ Let $ex_r(n,Tr(F))$ denote the maximum number of edges of an $n$-vertex $r$-uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ which does not contain $F$ as a trace. In this paper, we improve the lower bounds of $ex_r(n,Tr(F))$ when $F$ is a star, and give some optimal cases. We also improve the upper bound for the case when $\mathcal{H}$ is $3$-uniform and $F$ is $K_{2,t}$ when $t$ is small.

The edge blow-up of a graph is the graph obtained from replacing each edge of it by a clique of the same size where the new vertices of the cliques are all different. Wang, Hou, Liu and Ma determined the Turán number of the edge blow-up of trees except one particular case. Answering an problem posed by them, we determined the Turán number of this particular case.

Turán number $T(n,5,3)$ is the minimum size of a system of triples out of a base set $X$ of $n$ elements such that every quintuple in $X$ contains a triple from the system. The exact values of $T(n,5,3)$ are known for $n \leq 17$. Turán conjectured that $T(2m,5,3) = 2\binom{m}{3}$, and no counterexamples have been found so far. If this conjecture is true, then $T(2m+1,5,3) \geq \lceil m(m-2)(2m+1)/6\rceil$. We prove the matching upper bound for all $n = 2m+1 > 17$ except $n=27$.

Let $H_k^r$ denote an $r$-uniform hypergraph with $k$ edges and $r+1$ vertices, where $k \leq r+1$ (it is easy to see that such a hypergraph is unique up to isomorphism). The known general bounds on its Turán density are $π(H_k^r) \leq \frac{k-2}{r}$ for all $k \geq 3$, and $π(H_3^r) \geq 2^{1-r}$ for $k=3$. We prove that $π(H_k^r) \geq (C_k - o(1)) \, r^{-(1+\frac{1}{k-2})}$ as $r\to\infty$. In the case $k=3$, we prove $π(H_3^r) \geq (1.7215 - o(1)) \, r^{-2}$ as $r\to\infty$, and $π(H_3^r) \geq r^{-2}$ for all $r$.
Turán numbers and switching

Using a switching operation on tournaments we obtain some new lower bounds on the Turán number of the $r$-graph on $r+1$ vertices with $3$ edges. For $r=4$, extremal examples were constructed using Paley tournaments in previous work. We show that these examples are unique (in a particular sense) using Fourier analysis.
A $3$-tournament is a `higher order' version of a tournament given by an alternating function on triples of distinct vertices in a vertex set. We show that $3$-tournaments also enjoy a switching operation and use this to give a formula for the size of a switching class in terms of level permutations, generalising a result of Babai--Cameron.

We show that for any integer $t \ge 2$, every properly edge colored $n$-vertex graph with average degree at least $(\log n)^{2+o(1)}$ contains a rainbow subdivision of a complete graph of size $t$. Note that this bound is within $(\log n)^{1+o(1)}$ factor of the lower bound. This also implies a result on the rainbow Turán number of cycles.

Given graphs $H$ and $F$, the generalized Turán number $\mathrm{ex}(n,H,F)$ is the largest number of copies of $H$ in $n$-vertex $F$-free graphs. Stability refers to the usual phenomenon that if an $n$-vertex $F$-free graph $G$ contains almost $\mathrm{ex}(n,H,F)$ copies of $H$, than $G$ is in some sense similar to some extremal graph. We obtain new stability results for generalized Turán problems and derive several new exact results.
Extremal results on feedback arc sets in digraphs

A directed graph is oriented if it can be obtained by orienting the edges of a simple, undirected graph. For an oriented graph $G$, let $β(G)$ denote the size of a minimum feedback arc set, a smallest subset of edges whose deletion leaves an acyclic subgraph. A simple consequence of a result of Berger and Shor is that any oriented graph $G$ with $m$ edges satisfies $β(G) = m/2 - Ω(m^{3/4})$.
We observe that if an oriented graph $G$ has a fixed forbidden subgraph $B$, the upper bound of $β(G) = m/2 - Ω(m^{3/4})$ is best possible as a function of the number of edges if $B$ is not bipartite, but the exponent $3/4$ in the lower order term can be improved if $B$ is bipartite. We also show that for every rational number $r$ between $3/4$ and $1$, there is a finite collection of digraphs $\mathcal{B}$ such that every $\mathcal{B}$-free digraph $G$ with $m$ edges satisfies $β(G) = m/2 - Ω(m^r)$, and this bound is best possible up to the implied constant factor. The proof uses a connection to Turán numbers and a result of Bukh and Conlon. Both of our upper bounds come equipped with randomized linear-time algorithms that construct feedback arc sets achieving those bounds. Finally, we give a characterization of quasirandom directed graphs via minimum feedback arc sets.
Rainbow Turán Methods for Trees
The rainbow Turán number, a natural extension of the well studied traditional Turán number, was introduced in 2007 by Keevash, Mubayi, Sudakov and Verstraëte. The rainbow Turán number of a graph $H$, $ex^{*}(n,H)$, is the largest number of edges for an $n$ vertex graph $G$ which can be properly edge colored with no rainbow $H$ subgraph.
We explore the reduction method for finding upper bounds on rainbow Turán numbers, and use this to inform results for the rainbow Turán numbers of double stars, caterpillars, and perfect binary trees. In addition, we define $k$-unique colorings and the related $k$-unique Turán numbers. We provide preliminary results on this new variant on the classic problem.
The Turán number of the Cartesian product of graphs
Recently, Domagoj Bradač, Oliver Janzer, Benny Sudakov and István Tomon have proved that the Turán number of $2$-dimensional grids is $Θ(n^{3/2})$, or more general, $\mathrm{ex}\left(n,T\square{P}\right)=Θ(n^{3/2})$, where $T$ is a non-trivial tree, $P$ is a non-trivial path, and $T\square{P}$ denotes the Cartesian product. In their proof, they exhibited a novel way of using the tensor power trick, which has lots of potential in Turán type problems. By the end of their proof, they conjectured that $\mathrm{ex}\left(n,T\square{R}\right)=Θ(n^{3/2})$ for non-trivial trees $T$ and $R$. This paper is an extension based on their work, we successfully prove the above conjecture by adapting their approach.
The Turán number of the grid
For a positive integer $t$, let $F_t$ denote the graph of the $t\times t$ grid. Motivated by a 50-year-old conjecture of Erdős about Turán numbers of $r$-degenerate graphs, we prove that there exists a constant $C=C(t)$ such that $\mathrm{ex}(n,F_t)\leq Cn^{3/2}$. This bound is tight up to the value of $C$. One of the interesting ingredients of our proof is a novel way of using the tensor power trick.
New proofs of stability theorems on spectral graph problems
Both the Simonovits stability theorem and the Nikiforov spectral stability theorem are powerful tools for solving exact values of Turán numbers in extremal graph theory. Recently, Füredi [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 115 (2015)] provided a concise and contemporary proof of the Simonovits stability theorem. In this note, we present a unified treatment for some extremal graph problems, including short proofs of Nikiforov's spectral stability theorem and the clique stability theorem proved recently by Ma and Qiu [European J. Combin. 84 (2020)]. Moreover, some spectral extremal problems related to the $p$-spectral radius and signless Laplacian radius are also included.
