On the Djoković-Winkler relation and its closure in subdivisions of fullerenes, triangulations, and chordal graphs
It was recently pointed out that certain SiO$_2$ layer structures and SiO$_2$ nanotubes can be described as full subdivisions aka subdivision graphs of partial cubes. A key tool for analyzing distance-based topological indices in molecular graphs is the Djoković-Winkler relation $Θ$ and its transitive closure $Θ^\ast$. In this paper we study the behavior of $Θ$ and $Θ^\ast$ with respect to full subdivisions. We apply our results to describe $Θ^\ast$ in full subdivisions of fullerenes, plane triangulations, and chordal graphs.
Spectra of $(H_1,H_2)$-merged subdivision graph of a graph
In this paper, we define a ternary graph operation which generalizes the construction of subdivision graph, $R-$graph, central graph. Also, it generalizes the construction of overlay graph (Marius Somodi \emph{et al.}, 2017), and consequently, $Q-$graph, total graph, and quasitotal graph. We denote this new graph by $[S(G)]^{H_1}_{H_2}$, where $G$ is a graph and, $H_1$ and $H_2$ are suitable graphs corresponding to $G$. Further, we define several new unary graph operations which becomes particular cases of this construction. We determine the Adjacency and Laplacian spectra of $[S(G)]^{H_1}_{H_2}$ for some classes of graphs $G$, $H_1$ and $H_2$. From these results, we derive the $L$-spectrum of the graphs obtained by the unary graph operations mentioned above. As applications, these results enable us to compute the number of spanning trees and Kirchhoff index of these graphs.

Graph operations or products play an important role in complex networks. In this paper, we study the properties of $q$-subdivision graphs, which have been applied to model complex networks. For a simple connected graph $G$, its $q$-subdivision graph $S_q(G)$ is obtained from $G$ through replacing every edge $uv$ in $G$ by $q$ disjoint paths of length 2, with each path having $u$ and $v$ as its ends. We derive explicit formulas for many quantities of $S_q(G)$ in terms of those corresponding to $G$, including the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of normalized adjacency matrix, two-node hitting time, Kemeny constant, two-node resistance distance, Kirchhoff index, additive degree-Kirchhoff index, and multiplicative degree-Kirchhoff index. We also study the properties of the iterated $q$-subdivision graphs, based on which we obtain the closed-form expressions for a family of hierarchical lattices, which has been used to describe scale-free fractal networks.
Topological indices of k-th subdivision and semi total point graphs
Graph theory has provided a very useful tool, called topological indices which are a number obtained from the graph $G$ with the property that every graph $H$ isomorphic to $G$, value of a topological index must be same for both $G$ and $H$. In this article, we present exact expressions for some topological indices of k-th subdivision graph and semi total point graphs respectively, which are a generalization of ordinary subdivision and semi total graph for $k\ge 1$.

The forgotten topological index or F-index of a graph is defined as the sum of degree cube of all the vertices of the graph. This index was introduced by Gutman and Trinajestić more than 40 years ago. In this paper, we derive F-index of new operations of subdivision graphs related to the graphs join.

Many variants of join operations of graphs have been introduced and their spectral properties have been studied extensively by many researchers. This paper mainly focuses on the Laplacian spectra of some double join operations of graphs. We first introduce the conception of double join matrix and provide a complete information about its eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenvectors. Further, we define four variants of double join operations based on subdivision graph, $Q$-graph, $R$-graph and total graph. Applying the result obtained for the double join matrix, we give an explicit complete characterization of the Laplacian eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenvectors of four variants in terms of the Laplacian eigenvalues and the eigenvectors of the factor graphs. These results generalize some well-known results about some join operations of graphs.

The subdivision graph $S(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the graph obtained by inserting a new vertex into every edge of $G$. In $\cite{PL}$, two classes of new corona graphs, the corona-vertex of the subdivision graph $G_{1}\diamondsuit G_{2}$ and corona-edge of the subdivision graph $G_{1}\star G_{2}$ were defined. The adjacency spectrum and the signless Laplacian spectrum of the two new graphs were computed when $G_{1}$ is an arbitrary graph and $G_{2}$ is an $r$-regular graph. In this paper, we give the formulate of the resistance distance and the Kirchhoff index in $G_{1}\diamondsuit G_{2}$ and $G_{1}\star G_{2}$ when $G_{1}$ and $G_{2}$ are arbitrary graphs. These results generalize them in $\cite{PL}$.

The aim of this work is to investigate the F-index and F-coindex of the line graphs of the cycle graphs, star graphs, tadpole graphs, wheel graphs and ladder graphs using the subdivision concepts. F-index of the line graph of subdivision graph of square grid graph, 2D-lattice, nanotube and nanotorus of $TUC_{4}C_{8}[p, q]$ are also investigated here.
Projective dimension of (hyper)graphs and the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of bipartite graphs
We prove that the projective dimension of any (hyper)graph can be bounded from above by the (Castelnuovo-Mumford) regularity of its Levi graph (or incidence bipartite graph). This in particular brings the use of regularity's upper bounds on the calculation of projective dimension of (hyper)graphs. When G is just a (simple) graph, we prove that there exists an induced subgraph H of G such that prod-dim(G)=reg(S(H)), where S(H) is the subdivision graph of H. Moreover, we show that known upper bounds on prod-dim(G) involving domination parameters are in fact upper bounds to reg(S(G)).
Spectra of the subdivision-vertex and subdivision-edge coronae
The subdivision graph $\mathcal{S}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the graph obtained by inserting a new vertex into every edge of $G$. Let $G_1$ and $G_2$ be two vertex disjoint graphs. The \emph{subdivision-vertex corona} of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1\odot G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|V(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, all vertex-disjoint, by joining the $i$th vertex of $V(G_1)$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$. The \emph{subdivision-edge corona} of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1\circleddash G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|I(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, all vertex-disjoint, by joining the $i$th vertex of $I(G_1)$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$, where $I(G_1)$ is the set of inserted vertices of $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$. In this paper we determine the adjacency spectra, the Laplacian spectra and the signless Laplacian spectra of $G_1\odot G_2$ (respectively, $G_1\circleddash G_2$) in terms of the corresponding spectra of $G_1$ and $G_2$. As applications, the results on the spectra of $G_1\odot G_2$ (respectively, $G_1\circleddash G_2$) enable us to construct infinitely many pairs of cospectral graphs. The adjacency spectra of $G_1\odot G_2$ (respectively, $G_1\circleddash G_2$) help us to construct many infinite families of integral graphs. By using the Laplacian spectra, we also obtain the number of spanning trees and Kirchhoff index of $G_1\odot G_2$ and $G_1\circleddash G_2$, respectively.

Let $G=(V(G),E(G))$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$. The subdivision graph $\mathcal{S}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the graph obtained by inserting a new vertex into every edge of $G$. Let $G_1$ and $G_2$ be two vertex disjoint graphs. The subdivision-vertex neighbourhood corona of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1 \boxdot G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|V(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, all vertex disjoint, and joining the neighbours of the $i$th vertex of $V(G_1)$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$. The subdivision-edge neighbourhood corona of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1 \boxminus G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|I(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, all vertex disjoint, and joining the neighbours of the $i$th vertex of $I(G_1)$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$, where $I(G_1)$ is the set of inserted vertices of $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$. In this paper we determine the adjacency spectra, the Laplacian spectra and the signless Laplacian spectra of $G_1\boxdot G_2$ (respectively, $G_1\boxminus G_2$) in terms of the corresponding spectra of $G_1$ and $G_2$. As applications, these results enable us to construct infinitely many pairs of cospectral graphs, and using the results on the Laplacian spectra of subdivision-vertex neighbourhood coronae, new families of expander graphs are constructed from known ones.
On Coloring Properties of Graph Powers
This paper studies some coloring properties of graph powers. We show that $χ_c(G^{^{\frac{2r+1}{2s+1}}})=\frac{(2s+1)χ_c(G)}{(s-r)χ_c(G)+2r+1}$ provided that $χ_c(G^{^{\frac{2r+1}{2s+1}}})< 4$. As a consequence, one can see that if ${2r+1 \over 2s+1} \leq {χ_c(G) \over 3(χ_c(G)-2)}$, then $χ_c(G^{^{\frac{2r+1}{2s+1}}})=\frac{(2s+1)χ_c(G)}{(s-r)χ_c(G)+2r+1}$. In particular, $χ_c(K_{3n+1}^{^{1\over3}})={9n+3\over 3n+2}$ and $K_{3n+1}^{^{1\over3}}$ has no subgraph with circular chromatic number equal to ${6n+1\over 2n+1}$. This provides a negative answer to a question asked in [Xuding Zhu, Circular chromatic number: a survey, Discrete Math., 229(1-3):371--410, 2001]. Also, we present an upper bound for the fractional chromatic number of subdivision graphs. Precisely, we show that $χ_f(G^{^{\frac{1}{2s+1}}})\leq \frac{(2s+1)χ_f(G)}{sχ_f(G)+1}$. Finally, we investigate the $n$th multichromatic number of subdivision graphs.

Let $G=(V,E)$ be a simple graph with $n = |V|$ vertices and $m = |E|$ edges. The first and second Zagreb indices are among the oldest and the most famous topological indices, defined as $M_1 = \sum_{i \in V} d_i^2$ and $M_2 = \sum_{(i, j) \in E} d_i d_j$, where $d_i$ denote the degree of vertex $i$. Recently proposed conjecture $M_1 / n \leqslant M_2 / m$ has been proven to hold for trees, unicyclic graphs and chemical graphs, while counterexamples were found for both connected and disconnected graphs. Our goal is twofold, both in favor of a conjecture and against it. Firstly, we show that the expressions $M_1/n$ and $M_2/m$ have the same lower and upper bounds, which attain equality for and only for regular graphs. We also establish sharp lower bound for variable first and second Zagreb indices. Secondly, we show that for any fixed number $k\geqslant 2$, there exists a connected graph with $k$ cycles for which $M_1/n>M_2/m$ holds, effectively showing that the conjecture cannot hold unless there exists some kind of limitation on the number of cycles or the maximum vertex degree in a graph. In particular, we show that the conjecture holds for subdivision graphs.

The subdivision graph $S(Σ)$ of a connected graph $Σ$ is constructed by adding a vertex in the middle of each edge. In a previous paper written with Cheryl E. Praeger, we characterised the graphs $Σ$ such that $S(Σ)$ is locally $(G,s)$-distance transitive for $s\leq 2\, diam(Σ)-1$ and some $G\leq Aut(Σ)$. In this paper, we solve the remaining cases by classifying all the graphs $Σ$ such that the subdivision graphs is locally $(G,s)$-distance transitive for $s\geq 2\, diam(Σ)$ and some $G\leq Aut(Σ)$. In particular, their subdivision graph are always locally $G$-distance transitive, except for the complete graphs.

The subdivision graph $S(Σ)$ of a graph $Σ$ is obtained from $Σ$ by `adding a vertex' in the middle of every edge of $\Si$. Various symmetry properties of $§(Σ)$ are studied. We prove that, for a connected graph $Σ$, $S(Σ)$ is locally $s$-arc transitive if and only if $Σ$ is $\lceil\frac{s+1}{2}\rceil$-arc transitive. The diameter of $S(Σ)$ is $2d+δ$, where $Σ$ has diameter $d$ and $0\leqslant δ\leqslant 2$, and local $s$-distance transitivity of $§(Σ)$ is defined for $1\leqslant s\leqslant 2d+δ$. In the general case where $s\leqslant 2d-1$ we prove that $S(Σ)$ is locally $s$-distance transitive if and only if $Σ$ is $\lceil\frac{s+1}{2}\rceil$-arc transitive. For the remaining values of $s$, namely $2d\leqslant s\leqslant 2d+δ$, we classify the graphs $Σ$ for which $S(Σ)$ is locally $s$-distance transitive in the cases, $s\leqslant 5$ and $s\geqslant 15+δ$. The cases $\max\{2d, 6\}\leqslant s\leqslant \min\{2d+δ, 14+δ\}$ remain open.
Contractors and connectors of graph algebras
We study generalizations of the "contraction-deletion" relation of the Tutte polynomial, and other similar simple operations, to other graph parameters. The question can be set in the framework of graph algebras introduced by Freedman, Lovasz and Schrijver, and it relates to their behavior under basic graph operations like contraction and subdivision.
Graph algebras were introduced to study and characterize homomorphism functions. We prove that for homomorphism functions, these graph algebras have special elements called ``contractors'' and ``connectors''. This gives a new characterization of homomorphism functions.
