Gale-Robinson quivers: from representations to combinatorial formulas
We investigate a family of representations of Gale-Robinson quivers that are geared towards providing concrete information about the corresponding cluster algebras. In this way, we provide a representation theoretic explanation for known combinatorial formulas for the Gale-Robinson sequence and also obtain similar formulas for several other cluster variables.

Matroids and Canonical Forms: Theory and Applications
This thesis proposes a combinatorial generalization of a nilpotent operator on a vector space. The resulting object is highly natural, with basic connections to a variety of fields in pure mathematics, engineering, and the sciences. For the purpose of exposition we focus the discussion of applications on homological algebra and computation, with additional remarks in lattice theory, linear algebra, and abelian categories. For motivation, we recall that the methods of algebraic topology have driven remarkable progress in the qualitative study of large, noisy bodies of data over the past 15 years. A primary tool in Topological Data Analysis [TDA] is the homological persistence module, which leverages categorical structure to compare algebraic shape descriptors across multiple scales of measurement. Our principle application to computation is a novel algorithm to calculate persistent homology which, in certain cases, improves the state of the art by several orders of magnitude. Included are novel results in discrete, spectral, and algebraic Morse theory, and on the strong maps of matroid theory. The defining theme throughout is interplay between the combinatorial theory matroids and the algebraic theory of categories. The nature of these interactions is remarkably simple, but their consequences in homological algebra, quiver theory, and combinatorial optimization represent new and widely open fields for interaction between the disciplines.

Acyclic cluster algebras, reflection groups, and curves on a punctured disc
Published in Adv. Math. 340 (2018), 855--882 • View Publication • BIB
We establish a bijective correspondence between certain non-self-intersecting curves in an $n$-punctured disc and positive ${\mathbf c}$-vectors of acyclic cluster algebras whose quivers have multiple arrows between every pair of vertices. As a corollary, we obtain a proof of a conjecture by K.-H. Lee and K. Lee (arXiv:1703.09113) on the combinatorial description of real Schur roots for acyclic quivers with multiple arrows, and give a combinatorial characterization of seeds in terms of curves in an $n$-punctured disc.

Littlewood-Richardson coefficients via mirror symmetry for cluster varieties
Published • View Publication • BIB
I prove that the full Fock-Goncharov conjecture holds for $\mathrm{Conf}_3^\times(\widetilde{\mathcal{F}\hspace{-1.6pt}\ell})$-- the configuration space of triples of decorated flags in generic position. As a key ingredient of this proof, I exhibit a maximal green sequence for the quiver of the initial seed. I compute the Landau-Ginzburg potential $W$ on $\mathrm{Conf}_3^\times(\widetilde{\mathcal{F}\hspace{-1.6pt}\ell})^\vee$ associated to the partial minimal model $\mathrm{Conf}_3^\times(\widetilde{\mathcal{F}\hspace{-1.6pt}\ell}) \subset \mathrm{Conf}_3(\widetilde{\mathcal{F}\hspace{-1.6pt}\ell})$. The integral points of the associated "cone" ${Ξ:=\left\{W^T \geq 0\right\} \subset \mathrm{Conf}_3^\times(\widetilde{\mathcal{F}\hspace{-1.6pt}\ell})^\vee\left({\mathbb{R}^T}\right)}$ parametrize a basis for $\mathcal{O}\left(\mathrm{Conf}_3(\widetilde{\mathcal{F}\hspace{-1.6pt}\ell})\right) = \bigoplus \left(V_α\otimes V_β\otimes V_γ\right)^G$ and encode the Littlewood-Richardson coefficients $c^γ_{αβ}$. In the initial seed, the inequalities defining $Ξ$ are exactly Zelevinsky's tail positivity conditions. I exhibit a unimodular $p^*$ map that identifies $W$ with the potential of Goncharov-Shen on $\mathrm{Conf}_3^\times(\widetilde{\mathcal{F}\hspace{-1.6pt}\ell})$ and $Ξ$ with the Knutson-Tao hive cone.

The bounded derived category of a poset
We introduce a new combinatorial condition on a subinterval of a poset P (a clamped subinterval) that allows us to relate the Auslander-Reiten quiver of the bounded derived category of P to that of the subinterval. Applications include the determination of when a poset is fractionally Calabi-Yau and the computation of the Auslander-Reiten quivers of both the bounded derived category and of the module category.

Quiver mutation and combinatorial DT-invariants
A quiver is an oriented graph. Quiver mutation is an elementary operation on quivers. It appeared in physics in Seiberg duality in the nineties and in mathematics in the definition of cluster algebras by Fomin-Zelevinsky in 2002. We show, for large classes of quivers Q, using quiver mutation and quantum dilogarithms, one can construct the combinatorial DT-invariant, a formal power series intrinsically associated with Q. When defined, it coincides with the "total" Donaldson-Thomas invariant of Q (with a generic potential) provided by algebraic geometry (work of Joyce, Kontsevich-Soibelman, Szendroi and many others). We illustrate combinatorial DT-invariants on many examples and point out their links to quantum cluster algebras and to (infinite) generalized associahedra.

Double deficiencies of Dyck paths via the Billey-Jockusch-Stanley bijection
We prove a recent conjecture by René Marczinzik involving certain statistics on Dyck paths that originate in the representation theory of Nakayama algebras of a linearly oriented quiver. We do so by analysing the effect of the Billey-Jockusch-Stanley bijection between Dyck paths and 321-avoiding permutations on these statistics, which was suggested by the result of a query issued to the online database FindStat.

Non-kissing complexes and tau-tilting for gentle algebras
Published in Mem. Amer. Math. Soc., vol. 274(1343), vii+110 pp, 2021 • View Publication • BIB
We interpret the support $τ$-tilting complex of any gentle bound quiver as the non-kissing complex of walks on its blossoming quiver. Particularly relevant examples were previously studied for quivers defined by a subset of the grid or by a dissection of a polygon. We then focus on the case when the non-kissing complex is finite. We show that the graph of increasing flips on its facets is the Hasse diagram of a congruence-uniform lattice. Finally, we study its $\mathbf{g}$-vector fan and prove that it is the normal fan of a non-kissing associahedron.

Rank Two Non-Commutative Laurent Phenomenon and Pseudo-Positivity
Published • View Publication • BIB
We study polynomial generalizations of the Kontsevich automorphisms acting on the skew-field of formal rational expressions in two non-commuting variables. Our main result is the Laurentness and pseudo-positivity of iterations of these automorphisms. The resulting expressions are described combinatorially using a generalization of the combinatorics of compatible pairs in a maximal Dyck path developed by Lee, Li, and Zelevinsky. By specializing to quasi-commuting variables we obtain pseudo-positive expressions for rank 2 quantum generalized cluster variables. In the binomial case when all internal exchange coefficients are zero, this quantum specialization provides a positive combinatorial construction of counting polynomials for Grassmannians of submodules in exceptional representations of valued quivers with two vertices.

This article contains an overview of the author's joint work with Allen Knutson and Jenna Rajchgot on $K$-polynomials of orbit closures for type $A$ quivers. It is written to an audience interested in interactions between representations of algebras, algebraic geometry, and commutative algebra. A few open problems resulting from the work are also explained.

$(q,t)$-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules of type $A_r$ as quantum cluster variables
Published in Volume 25, Issue 1 (2018) • View Publication • BIB
Nakajima introduced a $t$-deformation of $q$-characters, $(q,t)$-characters for short, and their twisted multiplication through the geometry of quiver varieties. The Nakajima $(q,t)$-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules satisfy a $t$-deformed $T$-system. The $T$-system is a discrete dynamical system that can be interpreted as a mutation relation in a cluster algebra in two different ways, depending on the choice of direction of evolution. In this paper, we show that the Nakajima $t$-deformed $T$-system of type $A_r$ forms a quantum mutation relation in a quantization of exactly one of the cluster algebra structures attached to the $T$-system.

Categorical relations between Langlands dual quantum affine algebras: Doubly laced types
Published • View Publication • BIB
We prove that the Grothendieck rings of category $\mathcal{C}^{(t)}_Q$ over quantum affine algebras $U_q'(\g^{(t)})$ $(t=1,2)$ associated to each Dynkin quiver $Q$ of finite type $A_{2n-1}$ (resp. $D_{n+1}$) is isomorphic to one of category $\mathcal{C}_{\mQ}$ over the Langlands dual $U_q'({^L}\g^{(2)})$ of $U_q'(\g^{(2)})$ associated to any twisted adapted class $[\mQ]$ of $A_{2n-1}$ (resp. $D_{n+1}$). This results provide partial answers of conjectures of Frenkel-Hernandez on Langlands duality for finite-dimensional representation of quantum affine algebras.

Dual numbers, weighted quivers, and extended Somos and Gale-Robinson sequences
Published • View Publication • BIB
We investigate a general method that allows one to construct new integer sequences extending existing ones. We apply this method to the classic Somos-4 and Somos-5, and the Gale-Robinson sequences, as well as to more general class of sequences introduced by Fordy and Marsh, and produce a great number of new sequences. The method is based on the notion of "weighted quiver", a quiver with a $\mathbb Z$-valued function on the set of vertices that obeys very special rules of mutation.

Dimer models on cylinders over Dynkin diagrams and cluster algebras
Published • View Publication • BIB
In this paper, we describe a general setting for dimer models on cylinders over Dynkin diagrams which in type A reduces to the well studied case of dimer models on a disc. We prove that all Berenstein--Fomin--Zelevinsky quivers for Schubert cells in a symmetric Kac--Moody algebra give rise to dimer models on the cylinder over the corresponding Dynkin diagram. We also give an independent proof of a result of Buan, Iyama, Reiten and Smith that the corresponding superpotentials are rigid using the dimer model structure of the quivers.

Quiver Hall-Littlewood functions and Kostka-Shoji polynomials
Published in Pacific J. Math. 319 (2022) 397-437 • View Publication • BIB
For any triple $(i,a,μ)$ consisting of a vertex $i$ in a quiver $Q$, a positive integer $a$, and a dominant $GL_a$-weight $μ$, we define a quiver current $H^{(i,a)}_μ$ acting on the tensor power $Λ^Q$ of symmetric functions over the vertices of $Q$. These provide a quiver generalization of parabolic Garsia-Jing creation operators in the theory of Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions. For a triple $(\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a},μ(\bullet))$ of sequences of such data, we define the quiver Hall-Littlewood function $H^{\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a}}_{μ(\bullet)}$ as the result of acting on $1\inΛ^Q$ by the corresponding sequence of quiver currents. The quiver Kostka-Shoji polynomials are the expansion coefficients of $H^{\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a}}_{μ(\bullet)}$ in the tensor Schur basis. These polynomials include the Kostka-Foulkes polynomials and parabolic Kostka polynomials (Jordan quiver) and the Kostka-Shoji polynomials (cyclic quiver) as special cases. We show that the quiver Kostka-Shoji polynomials are graded multiplicities in the equivariant Euler characteristic of a vector bundle on Lusztig's convolution diagram determined by the sequences $\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a}$. For certain compositions of currents we conjecture higher cohomology vanishing of the associated vector bundle on Lusztig's convolution diagram. For quivers with no branching we propose an explicit positive formula for the quiver Kostka-Shoji polynomials in terms of catabolizable multitableaux. We also relate our constructions to $K$-theoretic Hall algebras, by realizing the quiver Kostka-Shoji polynomials as natural structure constants and showing that the quiver currents provide a symmetric function lifting of the corresponding shuffle product. In the case of a cyclic quiver, we explain how the quiver currents arise in Saito's vertex representation of the quantum toroidal algebra of type $\mathfrak{sl}_r$.

Quivers with additive labelings: classification and algebraic entropy
Published • View Publication • BIB
We show that Zamolodchikov dynamics of a recurrent quiver has zero algebraic entropy only if the quiver has a weakly subadditive labeling, and conjecture the converse. By assigning a pair of generalized Cartan matrices of affine type to each quiver with an additive labeling, we completely classify such quivers, obtaining $40$ infinite families and $13$ exceptional quivers. This completes the program of classifying Zamolodchikov periodic and integrable quivers.

Specht modules for quiver Hecke algebras of type $C$
Published in Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 55 (2019), no. 3, 565-626 • View Publication • BIB
We construct and investigate Specht modules $\mathcal{S}^λ$ for cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras in type $C^{(1)}_\ell$ and $C_\infty$, which are labelled by multipartitions $λ$. It is shown that in type $C_\infty$, the Specht module $\mathcal{S}^λ$ has a homogeneous basis indexed by standard tableaux of shape $λ$, which yields a graded character formula and good properties with the exact functors $E_i^Λ$ and $F_i^Λ$. For type $C^{(1)}_\ell$, we propose a conjecture.

On Exchange Spectra of Valued Cluster Quivers and Cluster Algebras
Published • View Publication • BIB
Inspirited by the importance of the spectral theory of graphs, we introduce the spectral theory of valued cluster quiver of a cluster algebra. Our aim is to characterize a cluster algebra via its spectrum so as to use the spectral theory as a tool. First, we give the relations between exchange spectrum of a valued cluster quiver and adjacency spectrum of its underlying valued graph, and between exchange spectra of a valued cluster quiver and its full valued subquivers. The key point is to find some invariants from the spectrum theory under mutations of cluster algebras, which is the second part we discuss. We give a sufficient and necessary condition for a cluster quiver and its mutation to be cospectral. Following this discussion, the so-called cospectral subalgebra of a cluster algebra is introduced. We study bounds of exchange spectrum radii of cluster quivers and give a characterization of $2$-maximal cluster quivers via the classification of oriented graphs of its mutation equivalence. Finally, as an application of this result, we obtain that the preprojective algebra of a cluster quiver of Dynkin type is representation-finite if and only if the cluster quiver is $2$-maximal.
Minimal length maximal green sequences
Published in Advances in Applied Mathematics 96C (2018) pp. 76--138 • View Publication • BIB
Maximal green sequences are important objects in representation theory, cluster algebras, and string theory. It is an open problem to determine what lengths are achieved by the maximal green sequences of a quiver. We combine the combinatorics of surface triangulations and the basics of scattering diagrams to address this problem. Our main result is a formula for the length of minimal length maximal green sequences of quivers defined by triangulations of an annulus or a punctured disk.
