The actions of 0-Kashiwara operators on the $U'_q(G_2^{(1)})$-crystal $B_l$ in [Yamane S., J. Algebra 210 (1998), 440-486] are made explicit by using a similarity technique from that of a $U'_q(D_4^{(3)})$-crystal. It is shown that $\{B_l\}_{l\ge1}$ forms a coherent family of perfect crystals.

We describe wall-crossing for local, toric Calabi-Yau manifolds without compact four-cycles, in terms of free fermions, vertex operators, and crystal melting. Firstly, to each such manifold we associate two states in the free fermion Hilbert space. The overlap of these states reproduces the BPS partition function corresponding to the non-commutative Donaldson-Thomas invariants, given by the modulus square of the topological string partition function. Secondly, we introduce the wall-crossing operators which represent crossing the walls of marginal stability associated to changes of the B-field through each two-cycle in the manifold. BPS partition functions in non-trivial chambers are given by the expectation values of these operators. Thirdly, we discuss crystal interpretation of such correlators for this whole class of manifolds. We describe evolution of these crystals upon a change of the moduli, and find crystal interpretation of the flop transition and the DT/PT transition. The crystals which we find generalize and unify various other Calabi-Yau crystal models which appeared in literature in recent years.

We propose a generalization of the topological vertex, which we call the "non-commutative topological vertex". This gives open BPS invariants for a toric Calabi-Yau manifold without compact 4-cycles, where we have D0/D2/D6-branes wrapping holomorphic 0/2/6-cycles, as well as D2-branes wrapping disks whose boundaries are on D4-branes wrapping non-compact Lagrangian 3-cycles. The vertex is defined combinatorially using the crystal melting model proposed recently, and depends on the value of closed string moduli at infinity. The vertex in one special chamber gives the same answer as that computed by the ordinary topological vertex. We prove an identify expressing the non-commutative topological vertex of a toric Calabi-Yau manifold X as a specialization of the closed BPS partition function of an orbifold of X, thus giving a closed expression for our vertex. We also clarify the action of the Weyl group of an affine A_L Lie algebra on chambers, and comment on the generalization of our results to the case of refined BPS invariants.

We study an integrable vertex model with a periodic boundary condition associated with U_q(A_n^{(1)}) at the crystallizing point q=0. It is an (n+1)-state cellular automaton describing the factorized scattering of solitons. The dynamics originates in the commuting family of fusion transfer matrices and generalizes the ultradiscrete Toda/KP flow corresponding to the periodic box-ball system. Combining Bethe ansatz and crystal theory in quantum group, we develop an inverse scattering/spectral formalism and solve the initial value problem based on several conjectures. The action-angle variables are constructed representing the amplitudes and phases of solitons. By the direct and inverse scattering maps, separation of variables into solitons is achieved and nonlinear dynamics is transformed into a straight motion on a tropical analogue of the Jacobi variety. We decompose the level set into connected components under the commuting family of time evolutions and identify each of them with the set of integer points on a torus. The weight multiplicity formula derived from the q=0 Bethe equation acquires an elegant interpretation as the volume of the phase space expressed by the size and multiplicity of these tori. The dynamical period is determined as an explicit arithmetical function of the n-tuple of Young diagrams specifying the level set. The inverse map, i.e., tropical Jacobi inversion is expressed in terms of a tropical Riemann theta function associated with the Bethe ansatz data. As an application, time average of some local variable is calculated.

We provide the unique affine crystal structure for type E_6^{(1)} Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals corresponding to the multiples of fundamental weights s Lambda_1, s Lambda_2, and s Lambda_6 for all s \geq 1 (in Bourbaki's labeling of the Dynkin nodes, where 2 is the adjoint node). Our methods introduce a generalized tableaux model for classical highest weight crystals of type E and use the order three automorphism of the affine E_6^{(1)} Dynkin diagram. In addition, we provide a conjecture for the affine crystal structure of type E_7^{(1)} Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals corresponding to the adjoint node.

Recently Fayers introduced a large family of combinatorial realizations of the fundamental crystal for affine sl(n), where the vertices are indexed by certain partitions. He showed that special cases of this construction agree with the Misra-Miwa realization and with Berg's ladder crystal. Here we show that another special case is naturally isomorphic to a realization using Nakajima's monomial crystal.

Recently, the analogue of the promotion operator on crystals of type A under a generalization of the bijection of Kerov, Kirillov and Reshetikhin between crystals (or Littlewood--Richardson tableaux) and rigged configurations was proposed. In this paper, we give a proof of this conjecture. This shows in particular that the bijection between tensor products of type A_n^{(1)} crystals and (unrestricted) rigged configurations is an affine crystal isomorphism.

For each $n\geqslant3$, we construct an uncountable family of models of the crystal of the basic $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_n)$-module. These models are all based on partitions, and include the usual $n$-regular and $n$-restricted models, as well as Berg's ladder crystal, as special cases.
Combinatorics of $(\ell,0)$-JM partitions, $\ell$-cores, the ladder crystal and the finite Hecke algebra
The following thesis contains results on the combinatorial representation theory of the finite Hecke algebra $H_n(q)$.
In Chapter 2 simple combinatorial descriptions are given which determine when a Specht module corresponding to a partition $λ$ is irreducible. This is done by extending the results of James and Mathas. These descriptions depend on the crystal of the basic representation of the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_\ell}$. In Chapter 3 these results are extended to determine which irreducible modules have a realization as a Specht module. To do this, a new condition of irreducibility due to Fayers is combined with a new description of the crystal from Chapter 2. In Chapter 4 a bijection of cores first described by myself and Monica Vazirani is studied in more depth. Various descriptions of it are given, relating to the quotient $\widetilde{S_\ell}/{S_\ell}$ and to the bijection given by Lapointe and Morse.

We give a construction of MV-polytopes of a complex semisimple algebraic group G in terms of the geometry of the Bott-Samelson variety and the affine building. This is done by using the construction of dense subsets of MV-cycles by Gaussent and Littelmann. They used LS-gallery to define subsets in the Bott-Samelson variety that map to subsets of the affine Grassmannian, whose closure are MV-cycles. Since points in the Bott-Samelson variety correspond to galleries in the affine building one can look at the image of a point in such a special subset under all retractions at infinity. We prove that these images can be used to construct the corresponding MV-polytope in an explicit way, by using the GGMS strata. Furthermore we give a combinatorial construction for these images by using the crystal structure of LS-galleries and the action of the ordinary Weyl group on the coweight lattice.

n this paper I introduce a new description of the crystal $B(Λ_0)$ of $\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_\ell}$. As in the Misra-Miwa model of $B(Λ_0)$, the nodes of this crystal are indexed by partitions and the $i$-arrows correspond to adding a box of residue $i$. I then show that the two models are equivalent by interpreting the operation of regularization introduced by James as a crystal isomorphism.
Kashiwara and Zelevinsky involutions in affine type A

We first describe how the Kashiwara involution on crystals of affine type $A$ is encoded by the combinatorics of aperiodic multisegments. This yields a simple relation between this involution and the Zelevinsky involution on the set of simple modules for the affine Hecke algebras. We then give efficient procedures for computing these involutions. Remarkably, these procedures do not use the underlying crystal structure. They also permit to match explicitly the Ginzburg and Ariki parametrizations of the simple modules associated to affine and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, respectively .
Repetitions in beta-integers

Classical crystals are solid materials containing arbitrarily long periodic repetitions of a single motif. In this paper, we study the maximal possible repetition of the same motif occurring in beta-integers -- one dimensional models of quasicrystals. We are interested in beta-integers realizing only a finite number of distinct distances between neighboring elements. In such a case, the problem may be reformulated in terms of combinatorics on words as a study of the index of infinite words coding beta-integers. We will solve a particular case for beta being a quadratic non-simple Parry number.
Total positivity in loop groups I: whirls and curls

This is the first of a series of papers where we develop a theory of total positivity for loop groups. In this paper, we completely describe the totally nonnegative part of the polynomial loop group GL_n(\R[t,t^{-1}]), and for the formal loop group GL_n(\R((t))) we describe the totally nonnegative points which are not totally positive. Furthermore, we make the connection with networks on the cylinder.
Our approach involves the introduction of distinguished generators, called whirls and curls, and we describe the commutation relations amongst them. These matrices play the same role as the poles and zeroes of the Edrei-Thoma theorem classifying totally positive functions (corresponding to our case n=1). We give a solution to the ``factorization problem'' using limits of ratios of minors. This is in a similar spirit to the Berenstein-Fomin-Zelevinsky Chamber Ansatz where ratios of minors are used. A birational symmetric group action arising in the commutation relation of curls appeared previously in Noumi-Yamada's study of discrete Painlevé dynamical systems and Berenstein-Kazhdan's study of geometric crystals.
Crystal Melting and Toric Calabi-Yau Manifolds

We construct a statistical model of crystal melting to count BPS bound states of D0 and D2 branes on a single D6 brane wrapping an arbitrary toric Calabi-Yau threefold. The three-dimensional crystalline structure is determined by the quiver diagram and the brane tiling which characterize the low energy effective theory of D branes. The crystal is composed of atoms of different colors, each of which corresponds to a node of the quiver diagram, and the chemical bond is dictated by the arrows of the quiver diagram. BPS states are constructed by removing atoms from the crystal. This generalizes the earlier results on the BPS state counting to an arbitrary non-compact toric Calabi-Yau manifold. We point out that a proper understanding of the relation between the topological string theory and the crystal melting involves the wall crossing in the Donaldson-Thomas theory.

Demazure crystals of generalized Verma modules and a flagged RSK correspondence

We prove that the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence is a $\gl_{\infty}$-crystal isomorphism between two realizations of the crystal graph of a generalized Verma module with respect to a maximal parabolic subalgebra of $\gl_{\infty}$. %This extends the previously known result that %the RSK correspondence is an isomorphism of bicrystals or double %crystals. A flagged version of the RSK correspondence is derived in a natural way by computing a Demazure crystal graph of a generalized Verma module. As an application, we discuss a relation between a Demazure crystal and plane partitions with a bounded condition.

We provide combinatorial models for all Kirillov--Reshetikhin crystals of nonexceptional type, which were recently shown to exist. For types D_n^(1), B_n^(1), A_{2n-1}^(2) we rely on a previous construction using the Dynkin diagram automorphism which interchanges nodes 0 and 1. For type C_n^(1) we use a Dynkin diagram folding and for types A_{2n}^(2), D_{n+1}^(2) a similarity construction. We also show that for types C_n^(1) and D_{n+1}^(2) the analog of the Dynkin diagram automorphism exists on the level of crystals.
On the uniqueness of promotion operators on tensor products of type A crystals

The affine Dynkin diagram of type $A_n^{(1)}$ has a cyclic symmetry. The analogue of this Dynkin diagram automorphism on the level of crystals is called a promotion operator. In this paper we show that the only irreducible type $A_n$ crystals which admit a promotion operator are the highest weight crystals indexed by rectangles. In addition we prove that on the tensor product of two type $A_n$ crystals labeled by rectangles, there is a single connected promotion operator. We conjecture this to be true for an arbitrary number of tensor factors. Our results are in agreement with Kashiwara's conjecture that all `good' affine crystals are tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals.
