Given a graph $F$, an $r$-uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ is a {\em Berge-$F$} if there is a bijection $φ:E(F)\to E(\mathcal{H})$ such that $e\subseteq φ(e)$ for each $e\in E(F)$. Given a family $\mathcal{F}$ of $r$-uniform hypergraphs, an $r$-uniform hypergraph is $\mathcal{F}$-free if it does not contain any member of $\mathcal{F}$ as a subhypergraph. The Turán number of $\mathcal{F}$ is the maximum number of hyperedges in an $\mathcal{F}$-free $r$-graph on $n$ vertices. Let $M_{s+1}$ denote a matching of size $s+1$, i.e., the graph consisting of $s+1$ independent edges. Khormali and Palmer [\textit{European J. Combin.} 102 (2022) 103506] completely determined the Turán number of Berge matchings for sufficiently large $n$. Subsequently, Kang, Ni, and Shan [\textit{Discrete Math.} 345 (2022) 112901] determined the exact value of the Turán number of Berge-$M_{s+1}$ for all $n$ when $r \le s-1$ or $r \ge 2s+2$. In this paper, we settle the final open case $s \le r \le 2s+1$, thereby completing the determination of the Turán number of Berge matchings.
Results on long twins in random words and permutations
We study long $r$-twins in random words and permutations. Motivated by questions posed in works of Dudek-Grytczuk-Ruciński, we obtain the following. For a uniform word in $[k]^n$ we prove sharp one-sided tail bounds showing that the maximum $r$-power length (the longest contiguous block that can be partitioned into $r$ identical subblocks) is concentrated around $\frac{\log n}{(r-1)\log k}$. For random permutations, we prove that for fixed $k$ and $r\to\infty$, a uniform permutation of $[rk]$ a.a.s. contains $r$ disjoint increasing subsequences of length $k$, generalizing a previous result that proves this for $k=2$. Finally, we use a computer-aided pattern count to improve the best known lower bound on the length of alternating twins in a random permutation to $α_n \ge \left(\tfrac{1}{3}+0.0989-o(1)\right)n$, strengthening the previous constant.
A sparse canonical van der Waerden theorem

The canonical van der Waerden theorem asserts that, for sufficiently large $n$, every colouring of $[n]$ contains either a monochromatic or a rainbow arithmetic progression of length $k$ ($k$-AP, for short). In this paper, we determine the threshold at which the binomial random subset $[n]_p$ almost surely inherits this canonical Ramsey type property. As an application, we show the existence of sets $A\subseteq [n]$ such that the $k$-APs in $A$ define a $k$-uniform hypergraph of arbitrarily high girth and yet any colouring of $A$ induces a monochromatic or rainbow $k$-AP.
Well quasi-order and atomicity for combinatorial structures under consecutive orders

We consider partially ordered sets of combinatorial structures under consecutive orders, meaning that two structures are related when one embeds in the other such that `consecutive' elements remain consecutive in the image. Given such a partially ordered set, we may ask decidability questions about its avoidance sets: subsets defined by a finite number of forbidden substructures. Two such questions ask, given a finite set of structures, whether its avoidance set is well quasi-ordered (i.e. contains no infinite antichains) or atomic (i.e. cannot be expressed as the union of two proper subsets). Extending some recent new approaches, we will establish a general framework, which enables us to answer these problems for a wide class of combinatorial structures, including graphs, digraphs and collections of relations.
Two conjectures on vertex-disjoint rainbow triangles
In 1963, Dirac proved that every $n$-vertex graph has $k$ vertex-disjoint triangles if $n\geq 3k$ and minimum degree $δ(G)\geq \frac{n+k}{2}$. The base case $n=3k$ can be reduced to the Corrádi-Hajnál Theorem. Towards a rainbow version of Dirac's Theorem, Hu, Li, and Yang conjectured that for all positive integers $n$ and $k$ with $n\geq 3k$, every edge-colored graph $G$ of order $n$ with $δ^c(G)\geq \frac{n+k}{2}$ contains $k$ vertex-disjoint rainbow triangles. In another direction, Wu et al. conjectured an exact formula for anti-Ramsey number $ar(n,kC_3)$, generalizing the earlier work of Erdős, Sós and Simonovits. The conjecture of Hu, Li, and Yang was confirmed for the cases $k=1$ and $k=2$. However, Lo and Williams disproved the conjecture when $n\leq \frac{17k}{5}.$ It is therefore natural to ask whether the conjecture holds for $n=Ω(k)$.
In this paper, we confirm this by showing that the Hu-Li-Yang conjecture holds when $n\ge 42.5k+48$. We disprove the conjecture of Wu et al. and propose a modified conjecture. This conjecture is motivated by previous works due to Allen, Böttcher, Hladký, and Piguet on Turán number of vertex-disjoint triangles.
A High-Dimensional Extension of Wagner's Theorem and the Geometrization of Hypergraphs
This paper introduces a geometric representation of hypergraphs by representing hyperedges as simplices. Building on this framework, we employ homotopy groups to analyze the topological structure of hypergraphs embedded in high-dimensional Euclidean spaces. Under the assumptions of the triangulation and that all $i$-th homotopy groups are trivial for $i \leq d-2$, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for a $d$-uniform hypergraph to be embeddable in $\mathbb{R}^d$, which can be regarded as a kind of high-dimensional extension of Wagner's Theorem for planar graphs. Specifically, we establish that a triangulated $d$-uniform topological hypergraph embeds into $\mathbb{R}^d$ if and only if it contains neither $K_{d+3}^d$ nor $K_{3,d+1}^d$ as a minor. Here, a triangulated $d$-uniform topological hypergraph constitutes a geometrized form of a $d$-uniform hypergraph, while $K_{d+3}^d$ and $K_{3,d+1}^d$ are the high-dimensional generalizations of the complete graph $K_5$ and the complete bipartite graph $K_{3,3}$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$, respectively.
Minimal Trails in Restricted DAGs
In this paper, the properties of minimal trails in a directed acyclic graph that is restricted not to contain an active cycle are studied. We are motivated by an application of the results in the copula-based Bayesian Network model developed recently. We propose a partial order on the set of trails activated by a certain subset of nodes, and show that every minimal trail, according to such an order, has a simple structure.
Random Finite Sumsets and Product Sets in Subsets of the Natural Numbers

We investigate the occurrence of additive and multiplicative structures in random subsets of the natural numbers. Specifically, for a Bernoulli random subset of $\mathbb{N}$ where each integer is included independently with probability $p\in (0,1)$, we prove that almost surely such a set contains finite sumsets (FS-sets) and finite product sets (FP-sets) of every finite length. In addition, we establish a novel connection between Hindman's partition theorem and the central limit theorem, providing a probabilistic perspective on the asymptotic Gaussian behavior of monochromatic finite sums and products. These results can be interpreted as probabilistic analogues of finite-dimensional versions of Hindman's theorem. Applications, implications, and open questions related to infinite FS-sets and FP-sets are discussed.
A degree sum condition for the existence of a quasi 5-contractible edge in a quasi 5-connected graph
An edge of a quasi $k$-connected graph is said to be quasi $k$-contractible if the contraction of the edge results in a quasi $k$-connected graph. We show that every 5-connected graph contains a quasi 5-contractible edge. Furthermore, we prove that a quasi 5-connected graph possesses a quasi 5-contractible edge, if the degree sum of any two vertices with distance at most two is at least 9. This result strengthens a theorem proved by Kriesell when $k=4$ (M. Kriesell, A degree sum condition for the existence of a contractible edge in a $k$-connected graph, J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 82(2001)81-101).
Optimally building spanning graphs in semirandom graph processes
The semirandom graph process constructs a graph $G$ in a series of rounds, starting with the empty graph on $n$ vertices. In each round, a player is offered a vertex $v$ chosen uniformly at random, and chooses an edge on $v$ to add to $G$. The player's aim is to make $G$ satisfy some property as quickly as possible. Our interest is in the property that $G$ contain a given $n$-vertex graph $H$ with maximum degree $Δ$. In 2021, Ben-Eliezer, Gishboliner, Hefetz and Krivelevich showed that there is a semirandom strategy that achieves this, with probability tending to 1 as $n$ tends to infinity, in $(1 + o_Δ(1)) \frac{3 Δn}{2}$ rounds, where $o_Δ(1)$ is a function that tends to $0$ as $Δ$ tends to infinity. We improve this to $(1 + o_Δ(1)) \frac{Δn}{2}$, which can be seen to be asymptotically optimal in $Δ$. We show the same result for a variant of the semirandom graph process, namely the semirandom tree process introduced by Burova and Lichev, where in each round the player is offered the edge set of a uniformly chosen tree on $n$ vertices, and chooses one edge to keep.
Packing subgraphs in regular graphs
An \emph{$H$-packing} in a graph $G$ is a collection of pairwise vertex-disjoint copies of $H$ in $G$. We prove that for every $c > 0$ and every bipartite graph $H$, any $\lfloor cn \rfloor$-regular graph $G$ admits an $H$-packing that covers all but a constant number of vertices. This resolves a problem posed by Kühn and Osthus in 2005. Moreover, our result is essentially tight: the conclusion fails if $G$ is not both regular and sufficiently dense, it is in general not possible to guarantee covering all vertices of $G$ by an $H$-packing, and if $H$ is non-bipartite then $G$ need not contain any copies of $H$.
We also prove that for all $c > 0$, integers $t \geq 2$, and sufficiently large $n$, all the vertices of every $\lfloor cn \rfloor$-regular graph can be covered by vertex-disjoint subdivisions of $K_t$. This resolves another problem of Kühn and Osthus from 2005, which goes back to a conjecture of Verstraëte from 2002.
Our proofs combine novel methods for balancing expanders and super-regular subgraphs with a number of powerful techniques including properties of robust expanders, regularity lemma, and blow-up lemma.
On Independent Spanning Trees in Random and Pseudorandom Graphs
In 1989, Zehavi and Itai conjectured that every $k$-connected graph contains $k$ independent spanning trees rooted at any prescribed vertex $r$. That is, for each vertex $v$, the unique $r$-$v$ paths within these $k$ spanning trees are internally disjoint. This fundamental problem has received much attention, in part motivated by its applications to network reliability, but despite that has only been resolved for $k \le 4$ and certain restricted graph families.
We establish the conjecture for almost all graphs of essentially any relevant density. Specifically, we prove that there exists a constant $C > 1$ such that, with high probability, the random graph $G(n,p)$ contains $δ(G)$ independent spanning trees rooted at any vertex whenever $C \log n/n \leq p < 0.99$. Since the lower bound on $p$ coincides (up to the constant $C$) with the connectivity threshold of $G(n,p)$, this result is essentially optimal. In addition, we show that $(n,d,λ)$-graphs with fairly mild bounds on the spectral ratio $d/λ$ contain $(1-o(1))d$ independent spanning trees rooted at each vertex, thereby settling the conjecture asymptotically for random $d$-regular graphs as well.
A Generalisation of Sperner's Theorem Using Weighted Chains
We find the (unique) largest subset of $\{0, 1, 2\}^n$ such that it contains no two elements, one of which is coordinatewise greater than the other, but strictly greater on at most $k$ coordinates. To do so, we decompose the cube into weighted chains.
In Appendix B we present a new proof of Sperner's theorem we found while working on this problem.
Optimal Embeddings of Posets in Hypercubes
Given a finite poset $\mathcal P$, the hypercube-height, denoted by $h^*(\mathcal P)$, is defined to be the largest $h$ such that, for any natural number $n$, the subsets of $[n]$ of size less than $h$ do not contain an induced copy of $\mathcal P$. The hypercube-width, denoted by $w^*(\mathcal P)$, is the smallest $w$ such that the subsets of $[w]$ of size at most $h^*(\mathcal P)$ contain an induced copy of $\mathcal P$. In other words, $h^*(\mathcal P)$ asks how `low' can a poset be embedded, and $w^*(\mathcal P)$ asks for the first hypercube in which such an `optimal' embedding occurs.
These notions were introduced by Bastide, Groenland, Ivan and Johnston in connection to upper bounds for the poset saturation numbers. While it is not hard to see that $h^*(\mathcal P)\leq |\mathcal P|-1$ (and this bound can be tight), the hypercube-width has proved to be much more elusive. It was shown by the authors mentioned above that $w^*(\mathcal P)\leq|\mathcal P|^2/4$, but they conjectured that in fact $w^*(\mathcal P)\leq |\mathcal P|$ for any finite poset $\mathcal P$.
In this paper we prove this conjecture. The proof uses Hall's theorem for bipartite graphs as a precision tool for modifing an existing copy of our poset.
A Note on Turán Numbers and the Erdős-Stone-Simonovits Theorem
Given a fixed graph H, we say that a graph G is H-free if G does not contain H as a subgraph. The Turán number ex(n, H) of H is the maximum number of edges in an n-vertex H-free graph. The study of Turán number of graphs is a central topic in extremal graph theory. The purpose of this article is to present some well-known results about this field but also to prove the Erdős-Stone-Simonovits theorem in an original manner.

An explicit construction of infinite sequences of strongly regular digraphs with parameter sets $((v+(2^{n+1}-4)t)2^{n-1}, k+(2^n-2)t, t, λ, t)$ is described. A computer program was used to find the initial digraphs. The remaining terms of the sequence are obtained by the constructed recurrence. Using the described approach, 11 families of strongly regular digraphs were found. In particular, these families contain digraphs $\text{dsrg}(72, 18, 5, 3, 5)$, $\text{dsrg}(76, 19, 5, 4, 5)$, $\text{dsrg}(92, 23, 6, 5, 6)$ and $\text{dsrg}(104, 26, 7, 5, 7)$, the question of the existence of which was previously open.
Ramsey sequences with bounded clique size

A sequence of graphs $ \{G_k\} $ is a Ramsey sequence if for every positive integer $ k $, the graph $ G_k $ is a proper subgraph of $ G_{k+1} $, and there exists an integer $n > k$ such that every red-blue coloring of $ G_n $ contains a monochromatic copy of $ G_k $. Among the wide range of open problems in Ramsey theory, an interesting open question is ``Does there exist an ascending sequence $\{G_k\}$ with $\lim_{k \to \infty} χ(G_k) = \infty$ and $\lim_{k \to \infty} ω(G_k) \neq \infty$ that is a Ramsey sequence?". In this paper, we solve this problem by constructing a Ramsey sequence $\{G_k\}$ with a bounded clique number such that $\lim_{k \to \infty} χ(G_k) = \infty$. Furthermore, using the observation that any monotonic increasing sequence of graphs that contains a Ramsey sequence as a subgraph is also Ramsey, we can generate infinitely many Ramsey sequences using this example.
Extremal distance spectral radius of graphs with $h$-extra $r$-component connectivity
For two integers $r\geq 2$ and $h\geq 0$, the $h$-extra $r$-component connectivity of a graph $G$, denoted by $cκ_{r}^{h}$, is defined as the minimum number of vertices whose removal produces a disconnected graph with at least $r$ components, where each component contains at least $h+1$ vertices. Let $\mathcal{G}_{n,δ}^{cκ_{r}^{h}}$ represent the set of graphs of order $n$ with minimum degree $δ$ and $h$-extra $r$-component connectivity $cκ_{r}^{h}$. Hu, Lin, and Zhang [\textit{Discrete Math.} \textbf{345} (2025) 114621] investigated the case when $h=0$ within $\mathcal{G}_{n,δ}^{cκ_{r}^{h}}$, and characterized the corresponding extremal graphs that minimize the distance spectral radius. In this paper, we further explore the relevant extremal graphs in $\mathcal{G}_{n,δ}^{cκ_{r}^{h}}$ for $h\geq 1$.
Most frequent subsequences in a word
We prove that every $n$-letter word over $k$-letter alphabet contains some word as a subsequence in at least $k^{n/4k(1+o(1))}$ many ways, and that this is sharp as $k\to\infty$. For fixed $k$, we show that the analogous number deviates from $μ_k^n$, for some constant $μ_k$, by a factor of at most $n$.
An exponential upper bound for induced Ramsey numbers
The induced Ramsey number $R_{\mathrm{ind}}(H; r)$ of a graph $H$ is the minimum number $N$ such that there exists a graph with $N$ vertices for which all $r$-colourings of its edges contain a monochromatic induced copy of $H$. Our main result is the existence of a constant $C > 0$ such that, for every graph $H$ on $k$ vertices, these numbers satisfy \begin{equation*}
R_{\mathrm{ind}}(H; r) \le r^{C r k}. \end{equation*} When $r = 2$, this resolves a conjecture of Erdős from 1975. For $r > 2$, it answers a question of Conlon, Fox and Sudakov in a strong form.
