Peaks and peak-nestings on unit interval graphs
Unit interval graphs admit a classical Catalan encoding by area sequences, or equivalently by Dyck paths. We introduce a new statistic on these graphs, called peak-nesting, defined as the largest number of peak-cliques containing a common vertex. Through the correspondence with area sequences, peak-nesting also defines a new statistic on Dyck paths. We construct a bijection between Dyck paths and bicolored Motzkin paths which simultaneously records peak-nesting and the number of peaks. This yields a refinement of Touchard's identity, coefficient formulas involving Dyck paths of given height, and new combinatorial interpretations for several sequences recorded in the OEIS. We study the peak and peak-nesting polynomials over all unit interval graphs and over the subclasses of connected, Abelian, $2$-nested, and reduced unit interval graphs. For these families we obtain closed formulas, recurrences, and, for the symmetric cases, nonnegative expansions in the gamma-basis with explicit combinatorial interpretations. We also investigate questions regarding the location of zeros and the log-concavity of the corresponding coefficient sequences: some of the polynomial families form generalized Sturm sequences, whereas others fail to be real-rooted but appear nevertheless to have log-concave coefficients. Finally, we relate the peak-clique presentation of a unit interval graph to lattice path matroids.
An $O(n\log^2n)$ Algorithm for Computing Hankel Determinants up to Order $n$
Given the rational power series $h(x) = \sum_{i \geq 0} h_i x^i \in \mathbb{C}[[x]]$, the Hankel determinant of order $n$ is defined as $H_n(h(x)) := \det (h_{i+j})_{0 \leq i,j \leq n-1}$. We explore the relationship between the Hankel continued fraction and the generalized Sturm sequence. This connection inspires the development of a novel algorithm for computing the Hankel determinants $\{H_i(h(x))\}_{i=0}^{n-1}$ using $O(n \log^2 n)$ arithmetic operations. We also explore the connection between the generalized Sturm sequences and the signature of Hankel matrices.
Criteria for a split real polynomial
In this article, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for a polynomial of degree $n$ to have exactly $n$ real roots. A complete study of polynomials of degree five is carried out. The results are compared with those obtained using Sturm sequences.

In the study of a tantalizing symmetry on Catalan objects, Bóna et al. introduced a family of polynomials $\{W_{n,k}(x)\}_{n\geq k\geq 0}$ defined by \begin{align*} W_{n,k}(x)=\sum_{m=0}^{k}w_{n,k,m}x^{m}, \end{align*} where $w_{n,k,m}$ counts the number of Dyck paths of semilength $n$ with $k$ occurrences of $UD$ and $m$ occurrences of $UUD$. They proposed two conjectures on the interlacing property of these polynomials, one of which states that $\{W_{n,k}(x)\}_{n\geq k}$ is a Sturm sequence for any fixed $k\geq 1$, and the other states that $\{W_{n,k}(x)\}_{1\leq k\leq n}$ is a Sturm-unimodal sequence for any fixed $n\geq 1$. In this paper, we obtain certain recurrence relations for $W_{n,k}(x)$, and further confirm their conjectures.

Recently, Nunge studied Eulerian polynomials on segmented permutations, namely \emph{generalized Eulerian polynomials}, and further asked whether their coefficients form unimodal sequences. In this paper, we prove the stability of the generalized Eulerian polynomials and hence confirm Nunge's conjecture. Our proof is based on Brändén's stable multivariate Eulerian polynomials. By acting on Brändén's polynomials with a stability-preserving linear operator, we get a multivariate refinement of the generalized Eulerian polynomials. To prove Nunge's conjecture, we also develop a general approach to obtain generalized Sturm sequences from bivariate stable polynomials.

In this paper, we mainly study the stability of iterated polynomials and linear transformations preserving the strong $q$-log-convexity of polynomials
Let $[T_{n,k}]_{n,k\geq0}$ be an array of nonnegative numbers. We give some criteria for the linear transformation $$y_n(q)=\sum_{k=0}^nT_{n,k}x_k(q)$$ preserving the strong $q$-log-convexity (resp. log-convexity). As applications, we derive that some linear transformations (for instance, the Stirling transformations of two kinds, the Jacobi-Stirling transformations of two kinds, the Legendre-Stirling transformations of two kinds, the central factorial transformations, and so on) preserve the strong $q$-log-convexity (resp. log-convexity) in a unified manner. In particular, we confirm a conjecture of Lin and Zeng, and extend some results of Chen {\it et al.}, and Zhu for strong $q$-log-convexity of polynomials, and some results of Liu and Wang for transformations preserving the log-convexity.
The stability property of iterated polynomials implies the $q$-log-convexity. By applying the method of interlacing of zeros, we also present two criteria for the stability of the iterated Sturm sequences and $q$-log-convexity of polynomials. As consequences, we get the stabilities of iterated Eulerian polynomials of type $A$ and $B$, and their $q$-analogs. In addition, we also prove that the generating functions of alternating runs of type $A$ and $B$, the longest alternating subsequence and up-down runs of permutations form a $q$-log-convex sequence, respectively.

We prove two conjectures of Brändén on the real-rootedness of polynomials $Q_n(x)$ and $R_n(x)$ which are related to the Boros-Moll polynomials $P_n(x)$. In fact, we show that both $Q_n(x)$ and $R_n(x)$ form Sturm sequences. The first conjecture implies the 2-log-concavity of $P_n(x)$, and the second conjecture implies the 3-log-concavity of $P_n(x)$.

Adopting the definition of excedances of type B due to Brenti, we give a type B analogue of the q-derangement polynomials. The connection between q-derangement polynomials and Eulerian polynomials naturally extends to the type B case. Based on this relation, we derive some basic properties of the q-derangement polynomials of type B, including the generating function formula, the Sturm sequence property, and the asymptotic normal distribution. We also show that the q-derangement polynomials are almost symmetric in the sense that the coefficients possess the spiral property.
