We define a new statistic on the even hyperoctahedral groups which is a natural analogue of the odd length statistic recently defined and studied on Coxeter groups of types $A$ and $B$. We compute the signed (by length) generating function of this statistic over the whole group and over its maximal and some other quotients and show that it always factors nicely. We also present some conjectures.
The descent statistic on signed simsun permutations
In this paper we study the generating polynomials obtained by enumerating signed simsun permutations by number of the descents. Properties of the polynomials, including the recurrence relations and generating functions are studied.
Signed graphs with two negative edges
The presented paper studies the flow number $F(G,σ)$ of flow-admissible signed graphs $(G,σ)$ with two negative edges. We restrict our study to cubic graphs, because for each non-cubic signed graph $(G,σ)$ there is a set ${\cal G}(G,σ)$ of cubic graphs such that $F(G, σ) \leq \min \{F(H,σ_H) : (H,σ_H) \in {\cal G}(G)\}$. We prove that $F(G,σ) \leq 6$ if $(G,σ)$ contains a bridge and $F(G,σ) \leq 7$ in general. We prove better bounds, if there is an element $(H,σ_H)$ of ${\cal G}(G,σ)$ which satisfies some additional conditions. In particular, if $H$ is bipartite, then $F(G,σ) \leq 4$ and the bound is tight. If $H$ is 3-edge-colorable or critical or if it has a sufficient cyclic edge-connectivity, then $F(G,σ) \leq 6$. Furthermore, if Tutte's 5-Flow Conjecture is true, then $(G,σ)$ admits a nowhere-zero 6-flow endowed with some strong properties.
Deformations of the braid arrangement and Trees

We establish counting formulas and bijections for deformations of the braid arrangement. Precisely, we consider real hyperplane arrangements such that all the hyperplanes are of the form $x\_i-x\_j=s$ for some integer $s$. Classical examples include the braid, Catalan, Shi, semiorder and Linial arrangements, as well as graphical arrangements. We express the number of regions of any such arrangement as a signed count of decorated plane trees. The characteristic and coboundary polynomials of these arrangements also have simple expressions in terms of these trees. We then focus on certain "well-behaved" deformations of the braid arrangement that we call transitive. This includes the Catalan, Shi, semiorder and Linial arrangements, as well as many other arrangements appearing in the literature. For any transitive deformation of the braid arrangement we establish a simple bijection between regions of the arrangement and a set of plane trees defined by local conditions. This answers a question of Gessel.
Integral homology of real isotropic and odd orthogonal Grassmannians

We obtain a combinatorial expression for the coefficients of the boundary map of real isotropic and odd orthogonal Grassmannians providing a natural generalization of the formulas already obtained for Lagrangian and maximal isotropic Grassmannians. The results are given in terms of the classification into four types of covering pairs among the Schubert cells when identified with signed $k$-Grassmannian permutations. It turns out that these coefficients only depend on the positions changed over each pair of permutations. As an application, we give an orientability criterion, exhibit a symmetry of these coefficients and, compute low-dimensional homology groups.
Chromatic number of signed graphs with bounded maximum degree
A signed graph $ (G, Σ)$ is a graph positive and negative ($Σ$ denotes the set of negative edges). To re-sign a vertex $v$ of a signed graph $ (G, Σ)$ is to switch the signs of the edges incident to $v$. If one can obtain $ (G, Σ')$ by re-signing some vertices of $ (G, Σ)$, then
$ (G, Σ) \equiv (G, Σ')$.
A signed graphs $ (G, Σ)$ admits an homomorphism to $ (H, Λ)$ if there is a sign preserving vertex mapping from $(G,Σ')$ to $(H, Λ)$ for some $ (G, Σ) \equiv (G, Σ')$.
The signed chromatic number $χ_{s}( (G, Σ))$ of the signed graph $(G, Σ)$ is the minimum order (number of vertices) of a signed graph $(H, Λ)$ such that $ (G, Σ)$ admits a homomorphism to $(H, Λ)$. For a family $ \mathcal{F}$ of signed graphs $χ_{s}(\mathcal{F}) = \text{max}_{(G,Σ) \in \mathcal{F}} χ_{s}( (G, Σ))$.
We prove $2^{Δ/2-1} \leq χ_s(\mathcal{G}_Δ) \leq (Δ-1)^2. 2^{(Δ-1)} +2$ for all $Δ\geq 3$ where $\mathcal{G}_Δ$ is the family of connected signed graphs with maximum degree $Δ$. \end{abstract}
The Signed Positive Semidefinite Matrix Completion Problem for Odd-$K_4$ Minor Free Signed Graphs
We give a signed generalization of Laurent's theorem that characterizes feasible positive semidefinite matrix completion problems in terms of metric polytopes. Based on this result, we give a characterization of the maximum rank completions of the signed positive semidefinite matrix completion problem for odd-$K_4$ minor free signed graphs. The analysis can also be used to bound the minimum rank over the completions and to characterize uniquely solvable completion problems for odd-$K_4$ minor free signed graphs. As a corollary we derive a characterization of the universal rigidity of odd-$K_4$ minor free spherical tensegrities, and also a characterization of signed graphs whose signed Colin de Verdière parameter $ν$ is bounded by two, recently shown by Arav et al.

In this paper, we study the inverse signed total domination number in graphs and present new lower and upper bounds on this parameter. For example by making use of the classic theorem of Turan (1941), we present a sharp upper bound for graphs with no induced complete subgraph of order greater than two. Also, we bound this parameter for a tree in terms of its order and the number of leaves and characterize all trees attaining this bound.
Context Directed Reversals and the Ciliate Decryptome
Prior studies of the efficiency of the block interchange (swap) and the reversal sorting operations on (signed) permutations identified specialized versions of the these operations. These specialized operations are here called context directed reversal, abbreviated cdr, and context directed swap, abbreviated cds. Prior works have also characterized which (signed) permutations are sortable by cdr or by cds.
It is now known that when a permutation is cds sortable in n steps, then any application of n consecutive applicable cds operations will sort it. Examples show that this is not the case for cdr. This phenomenon is the focus of this paper. It is proven that if a signed permutation is cdr sortable, then any cdr fixed point of it is cds sortable (the cds Rescue Theorem). The cds Rescue Theorem is discussed in the context of a mathematical model for ciliate micronuclear decryption.
It is also proven that though for a given permutation the number of cdr operations leading to different cdr fixed points may be different from each other, the parity of these two numbers is the same (the cdr Parity Theorem). This result provides a solution to two previously formulated decision problems regarding certain combinatorial games.

Given a digraph $G$, a lot of attention has been deserved on the maximum number $φ(G)$ of fixed points in a Boolean network $f:\{0,1\}^n\to\{0,1\}^n$ with $G$ as interaction graph. In particular, a central problem in network coding consists in studying the optimality of the classical upper bound $φ(G)\leq 2^τ$, where $τ$ is the minimum size of a feedback vertex set of $G$. In this paper, we study the maximum number $φ_m(G)$ of fixed points in a {\em monotone} Boolean network with interaction graph $G$. We establish new upper and lower bounds on $φ_m(G)$ that depends on the cycle structure of $G$. In addition to $τ$, the involved parameters are the maximum number $ν$ of vertex-disjoint cycles, and the maximum number $ν^{*}$ of vertex-disjoint cycles verifying some additional technical conditions. We improve the classical upper bound $2^τ$ by proving that $φ_m(G)$ is at most the largest sub-lattice of $\{0,1\}^τ$ without chain of size $ν+1$, and without another forbidden-pattern of size $2ν^{*}$. Then, we prove two optimal lower bounds: $φ_m(G)\geq ν+1$ and $φ_m(G)\geq 2^{ν^{*}}$. As a consequence, we get the following characterization: $φ_m(G)=2^τ$ if and only if $ν^{*}=τ$. As another consequence, we get that if $c$ is the maximum length of a chordless cycle of $G$ then $2^{ν/3^c}\leqφ_m(G)\leq 2^{cν}$. Finally, with the technics introduced, we establish an upper bound on the number of fixed points of any Boolean network according to its signed interaction graph.
On a lower bound for sorting signed permutations by reversals
Computing the reversal distances of signed permutations is an important topic in Bioinformatics. Recently, a new lower bound for the reversal distance was obtained via the plane permutation framework. This lower bound appears different from the existing lower bound obtained by Bafna and Pevzner through breakpoint graphs. In this paper, we prove that the two lower bounds are equal. Moreover, we confirm a related conjecture on skew-symmetric plane permutations, which can be restated as follows: let $p=(0,-1,-2,\ldots -n,n,n-1,\ldots 1)$ and let
$$
\tilde{s}=(0,a_1,a_2,\ldots a_n,-a_n,-a_{n-1},\ldots -a_1)
$$ be any long cycle on the set $\{-n,-n+1,\ldots 0,1,\ldots n\}$. Then, $n$ and $a_n$ are always in the same cycle of the product $p\tilde{s}$. Furthermore, we show the new lower bound via plane permutations can be interpreted as the topological genera of orientable surfaces associated to signed permutations.

We consider discretisations of the Macdonald--Mehta integrals from the theory of finite reflection groups. For the classical groups, $\mathrm{A}_{r-1}$, $\mathrm{B}_r$ and $\mathrm{D}_r$, we provide closed-form evaluations in those cases for which the Weyl denominators featuring in the summands have exponents $1$ and $2$. Our proofs for the exponent-$1$ cases rely on identities for classical group characters, while most of the formulas for the exponent-$2$ cases are derived from a transformation formula for elliptic hypergeometric series for the root system $\mathrm{BC}_r$. As a byproduct of our results, we obtain closed-form product formulas for the (ordinary and signed) enumeration of orthogonal and symplectic tableaux contained in a box.

Consider a family of collinear, equilateral triangular holes of any even side length lying within a sea of unit rhombi. The results presented below show that as the distance between the holes grows large, the interaction between them may be approximated, up to a multiplicative constant, by taking the exponential of the negative of the electrostatic energy of the system obtained by viewing the holes as a set of point charges, each with a signed magnitude given by a certain statistic. Furthermore it is shown that the interaction between a family of left pointing collinear triangular holes and a free boundary may be approximated (again up to some multiplicative constant) by taking the exponential of the negative of the electrostatic energy of the system obtained by considering the holes as a set of point charges and the boundary a straight equipotential conductor. These two differing systems of point charges can be related via the method of image charges, a well-known physical law that also surfaces in the following mathematical analysis of enumeration formulas that count tilings of certain regions of the plane by unit rhombi.

We show that a rectangle can be signed tiled by ribbon L n-ominoes, n odd, if and only if it has a side divisible by n. A consequence of our technique, based on the exhibition of an explicit Groebner basis, is that any k-inflated copy of the skewed L n-omino has a signed tiling by skewed L n-ominoes. We also discuss regular tilings by ribbon L n-ominoes, n odd, for rectangles and more general regions. We show that in this case obstructions appear that are not detected by signed tilings.

Let $\mathcal{T}_n$ be the set of ribbon $L$-shaped $n$-ominoes for some $n\ge 4$ even, and let $\mathcal{T}_n^+$ be $\mathcal{T}_n$ with an extra $2\times 2$ square. We investigate signed tilings of rectangles by $\mathcal{T}_n$ and $\mathcal{T}_n^+$. We show that a rectangle has a signed tiling by $\mathcal{T}_n$ if and only if both sides of the rectangle are even and one of them is divisible by $n$, or if one of the sides is odd and the other side is divisible by $n\left (\frac{n}{2}-2\right ).$ We also show that a rectangle has a signed tiling by $\mathcal{T}_n^+, n\ge 6$ even, if and only if both sides of the rectangle are even, or if one of the sides is odd and the other side is divisible by $n\left (\frac{n}{2}-2\right ).$ Our proofs are based on the exhibition of explicit Gröbner bases for the ideals generated by polynomials associated to the tiling sets. In particular, we show that some of the regular tiling results in \emph{ V.~Nitica, Every tiling of the first quadrant by ribbon $L$ $n$-ominoes follows the rectangular pattern. The Negative Cycle Vectors of Signed Complete Graphs
A signed graph is a graph where the edges are assigned labels of either "$+$" or "$-$". The sign of a cycle in the graph is the product of the signs of its edges. We equip each signed complete graph with a vector whose entries are the number of negative $k$-cycles for $k\in\{3,\dots,n\}$. These vectors generate an affine subspace of $\mathbb{R}^{n-2}$. We prove that this subspace is all of $\mathbb{R}^{n-2}$.

We extend the work of Hanlon on the chromatic polynomial of an unlabeled graph to define the unlabeled chromatic polynomial of an unlabeled signed graph. Explicit formulas are presented for labeled and unlabeled signed chromatic polynomials as summations over distinguished order-ideals of the signed partition lattice. We also define the quotient of a signed graph by a signed permutation, and show that its signed graphic arrangement is closely related to an induced arrangement on a distinguished subspace. Lastly, a formula for the number of unlabeled acyclic orientations of a signed graph is presented which recalls classical reciprocity theorems of Stanley and Zaslavsky.

In this paper, we confirm conjectures of Laborde-Zubieta on the enumeration of corners in tree-like tableaux and in symmetric tree-like tableaux. In the process, we also enumerate corners in (type $B$) permutation tableaux and (symmetric) alternative tableaux. The proof is based on Corteel and Nadeau's bijection between permutation tableaux and permutations. It allows us to interpret the number of corners as a statistic over permutations that is easier to count. The type $B$ case uses the bijection of Corteel and Kim between type $B$ permutation tableaux and signed permutations. Moreover, we give a bijection between corners and runs of size 1 in permutations, which gives an alternative proof of the enumeration of corners. Finally, we introduce conjectural polynomial analogues of these enumerations, and explain the implications on the PASEP.

In this paper, we relate the framework of mod-$φ$ convergence to the construction of approximation schemes for lattice-distributed random variables. The point of view taken here is that of Fourier analysis in the Wiener algebra, allowing the computation of asymptotic equivalents in the local, Kolmogorov and total variation distances. By using signed measures instead of probability measures, we are able to construct better approximations of discrete lattice distributions than the standard Poisson approximation. This theory applies to various examples arising from combinatorics and number theory: number of cycles in (possibly coloured) permutations, number of prime divisors (possibly within different residue classes) of a random integer, number of irreducible factors of a random polynomial, etc. One advantage of the approach developed in this paper is that it allows us to deal with approximations in higher dimensions as well. In this setting, we can explicitly see the influence of the correlations between the components of the random vectors in our asymptotic formulas.
On the signed graphs with two distinct eigenvalues
We consider signed graphs, i.e, graphs with positive or negative signs on their edges. We construct some families of bipartite signed graphs with only two distinct eigenvalues. This leads to constructing infinite families of regular bipartite Ramanujan graphs.
