Weighted bond posets and a new chromatic symmetric function
The classical bond lattice of a graph was used in a formula of Whitney to compute the chromatic polynomial. In this paper, we use weighted versions of the bond lattice, to introduce and study a new polynomial and a new symmetric function invariant of a graph. Examples of the new polynomial invariant include the classical Narayana polynomials (for the path graph), the tree-Eulerian polynomials (for the complete graph), and the binomial-Eulerian polynomials (for the star graph). These examples suggest an interesting connection to $h$-polynomials of general graph-associahedra. We prove that for any chordal graph, our polynomial graph invariant is $γ$-positive. Multiweighted bond posets yield a symmetric function graph invariant that is an analog of the chromatic polynomial. The highest degree homogeneous component of this symmetric function is of particular interest. The parking function symmetric function introduced by Haiman arises as an example, as do symmetric functions studied by the first author in connection with multibracketed Lie algebras and with colored exterior algebras. The $γ$-positivity result mentioned above is a specialization of an $e$-positivity result for the highest degree homogeneous component, which we prove for any chordal graph using the theory of lexicographic shellability. We conjecture that this symmetric function is Schur-log-concave, which specializes to Huh's log-concavity theorem for the chromatic polynomial.

Odd Shifted Parking Functions

Stanley recently introduced the shifted parking function symmetric function $SH_n$, which is the shiftification of Haiman's parking function symmetric function $PF_n$. The function $SH_n$ lives in the subalgebra of symmetric functions generated by odd power sums. Stanley showed how to expand $SH_n$ into the $V-$basis of this algebra, which is indexed by partitions with all parts odd and is analogous to the complete homogeneous (or elementary) basis of symmetric functions. We introduce odd shifted parking functions to give combinatorial and representation-theoretic realizations of the $V-$expansion of $SH_n$, resolving the main open problem in his paper. Further, we present two representation-theoretic realizations of shiftification allowing us to interpret $SH_n$ as the spin character of a projective representation. We conclude with further directions, including a relationship between $SH_n$ and Haglund's $(q,t)-$Schröder theorem.

A Shifted Parking Function Symmetric Function
We define a "shifted analogue" $\mathrm{SH}_n$ of the parking function symmetric function $\mathrm{PF}_n$. The expansion of $\mathrm{SH}_n$ in terms of three bases for shifted symmetric functions is explicitly described. We don't know a shifted analogue for parking functions themselves, but some desirable properties of such an analogue are discussed.

Nonhomogeneous parking functions and noncrossing partitions

For each skew shape we define a nonhomogeneous symmetric function, generalizing a construction of Pak and Postnikov. In two special cases, we show that the coefficients of this function when expanded in the complete homogeneous basis are given in terms of the (reduced) type of $k$-divisible noncrossing partitions. Our work extends Haiman's notion of a parking function symmetric function.
