Extremal hypergraphs without generalized 4-cycles
In 1977, Erdős posed the problem of determining the maximum number $f_r(n)$ of edges in an $n$-vertex $r$-uniform hypergraph in which all disjoint pairs of edges have distinct unions. Füredi later conjectured that, for every fixed $r\ge 4$ and all sufficiently large $n$, $f_r(n)=\binom{n-1}{r-1}+\lfloor \frac{n-1}{r}\rfloor$. In this paper, we prove this conjecture and determine all extremal configurations. Our proof combines a stability theorem for such dense hypergraphs with a delicate deletion argument applied to an associated bipartite $3$-graph. The stability theorem also resolves a conjecture of Mubayi.
Vertex-colored Turán theorems with applications in extremal hypergraph problems
Balogh, Clemen, and Lidický proved that the $\ell_{2}$-norm Turán problem for $K_{5}^{3}$ is asymptotically solved by the balanced bipartite construction, and they further conjectured that this construction is uniquely extremal for all sufficiently large $n$. We confirm this conjecture. We also determine exactly the maximum number of cliques in an $n$-vertex $K_{5}^{3}$-free $3$-uniform hypergraph for all sufficiently large $n$, thereby verifying the corresponding case of a conjecture of Frankl, Gryaznov, and Talebanfard.
The main ingredients are Turán-type theorems for vertex-colored graphs forbidding balanced cliques, including an edge bound, an $\ell_{2}$-norm bound, and a sharp crossing-triangle theorem in the two-colored balanced $K_{4}$-free case. We also use a local modification procedure within the stability method. This reduces the exact hypergraph problems to proving that the relevant objective function increases under suitable local changes near the bipartite construction.
Turán number of a matching and a Berge triangle
For a fixed graph $G$, an $r$-uniform hypergraph is said to contain a Berge-$G$ if there exists a bijection $f\colon E(G)\to E(\mathcal{H})$ for some subhypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ such that $e\subseteq f(e)$ for every $e\in E(G)$. Motivated by Alon and Frankl's study of Turán problems under bounded matching constraints, we investigate the maximum number of edges in $r$-uniform Berge-$K_3$-free hypergraphs with matching number at most~$s$. We determine the exact Turán numbers for the cases $r=3$ and $r=4$. For $r=3$ and $n \geq 3 s$, we prove that every $n$-vertex Berge- $K_3$-free 3-graph with matching number $s$ has at most $s(n-2 s)$ edges, and we characterize the unique extremal hypergraph attaining equality. For $r=4$ and $n \geq 4 s$, the maximum number of edges is $s\lfloor(n-2 s) / 2\rfloor$, except for the exceptional case $s=1$ and $n \equiv 1(\bmod 4)$, in which the bound is $(n-1) / 2$. As a corollary, our results recover the classical theorem of Győri on Berge-$K_3$-free hypergraphs.
The maximum spectral radius of uniform hypergraphs whose shadow excludes a complete or complete bipartite minor
For a $k$-uniform hypergraph $\mathcal H$, the shadow of $\mathcal H$ is the graph whose edges are the pairs covered by a hyperedge. In this paper, for all sufficiently large $n$, we determine the $n$-vertex $k$-uniform hypergraphs of maximum adjacency-tensor spectral radius whose shadow has no $K_t$ minor, for every $t\ge k+1$, and those whose shadow has no $K_{s,t}$ minor, for every $2\le s\le t$ with $s+t\ge k+1$ and every residue of $n-s+1$ modulo $t$; outside these ranges the problems are trivial. This extends to uniform hypergraphs the theorem of Tait on graphs with no $K_r$ or $K_{s,t}$ minor, whose remaining residues were settled by Zhai and Lin. In each case the extremal hypergraph is unique, and it is the $k$-clique hypergraph of the join of a clique with a graph that we call the light part. For $K_{s,t}$ the answer depends on $j=k-s+1$. When $j\le1$, the maximum has order $n^{(k-1)/k}$, and the light part is the one found by Zhai and Lin for the adjacency matrix, including its exceptional components. When $j\ge2$, a regime that does not occur for graphs, the maximum has order $n^{(s-1)/k}$ and $t$ enters its leading constant. The light part then consists of copies of $K_t$ and one smaller clique, with a single exception: for $(k,s,t)=(9,8,8)$ and $n-s+1\equiv2\pmod 8$, the complement of the Petersen graph appears. When the smaller clique has between $1$ and $j-1$ vertices, the extremal graph is not unique. In particular, for $t=8$, $4\le s\le7$, $k=s+1$ and $n-s+1\equiv2\pmod 8$, the clique hypergraph of the extremal graph of Zhai and Lin is not extremal. For $j\ge2$ the light part is determined by a weighted clique inequality, which for $j\ge3$ follows from a weighted form of the closed-neighborhood counting of Chao and Dong.
The maximum spectral radius of outerplanar and planar $k$-uniform hypergraphs
For an integer $k\ge3$, a $k$-angulation is a simple $2$-connected outerplane graph whose interior faces are bounded by $k$-cycles, and a closed $k$-angulation is a simple $2$-connected plane graph all of whose faces, the outer face included, are bounded by $k$-cycles; the face hypergraph of either is the $k$-uniform hypergraph whose edges are the vertex sets of those faces. For $k=3$ these are the outerplanar and planar hypergraphs of Ellingham, Lu and Wang, who determined the outerplanar extremal hypergraph for large $n$ and conjectured the planar one. In this paper, we determine the extremal hypergraphs in both classes for every $k$. In the outerplanar case, for all sufficiently large admissible $n$, it is the fan, in which a single vertex lies on every face, and the maximum equals $(4f)^{1/k}(1+o(1))$ with $f=(n-2)/(k-2)$. In the planar problem the maximum has order $n^{1/3}$ when $k=3$ and order $n^{2/k}$ when $k\ge4$. For $k\ge4$ the extremal hypergraphs are the face hypergraphs of the balanced theta graphs, in which two vertices are joined by internally disjoint paths and every face is a $k$-cycle through both: for $k=4$, where the closed $4$-angulations are the quadrangulations of the sphere, this holds for every $n\ge5$, the extremal hypergraph being $\mathcal{H}(K_{2,n-2})$, and for $k\ge5$ for all sufficiently large admissible $n$. For $k\ge6$ the extremal hypergraph is not unique: when the number of faces is even there are exactly $\lfloor(k-2)/2\rfloor$ of them up to isomorphism. For $k=3$ two vertices of a plane triangulation lie on at most two common faces, the balanced theta graphs are unavailable, and the extremal hypergraph is instead, for all sufficiently large $n$, the face hypergraph of $K_2+P_{n-2}$; this confirms a conjecture of Ellingham, Lu and Wang.
Spectral extremal hypergraphs without long Berge cycles
Let $r\ge 3$ and $k\ge 2r+1$ be fixed integers. We determine, for all sufficiently large $n$, the maximum adjacency-tensor spectral radius of an $n$-vertex $r$-uniform hypergraph containing no Berge cycle of length at least $k$. Write $s=\left\lfloor\frac{k-1}{2}\right\rfloor$. If $k=2s+1$ is odd, the unique extremal hypergraph consists of all $r$-sets containing at most one vertex outside a fixed $s$-set. If $k=2s+2$ is even, one additionally includes all $r$-sets containing a fixed pair outside the $s$-set together with $r-2$ vertices inside it. Consequently, the maximum spectral radius is given as \[ \operatorname{spex}_r(n,k) = \left[ \binom{s}{r-1} \left(\frac{r-1}{s}\right)^{(r-1)/r} +o(1) \right]n^{(r-1)/r}. \]
Tensor Spectral Stability for Uniform Hypergraphs with Bounded Matching Number
We establish a tensor spectral stability theorem for uniform hypergraphs with bounded matching number. More precisely, for fixed integers $k\geq 3$ and $β\geq2$, and sufficiently large $n$, we prove that every $n$-vertex $k$-uniform hypergraph $H$ with matching number at most $β$ and tensor spectral radius close to the maximum possible value among all such hypergraphs must be structurally close to the extremal hypergraph $S_{n,k,β}$, whose edges consist of all $k$-sets intersecting a fixed set of $β$ vertices. Furthermore, we show that every edge of $H$ intersects this distinguished vertex set and that $H$ contains all but a small proportion of the edges of $S_{n,k,β}$. As an application, we obtain a new proof of the spectral version of the Erdős matching conjecture for sufficiently large $n$.
Linear Turán Numbers of Uniform Hypertrees
A hypergraph is \emph{linear} if every pair of vertices is contained in at most one hyperedge. For a family $\mathcal{F}$ of $r$-uniform hypergraphs, the linear Tur'an number $ex^{\mathrm{lin}}_r(n,\mathcal{F})$ is the maximum number of hyperedges in an $n$-vertex $\mathcal{F}$-free linear $r$-uniform hypergraph. Extending the work of Gy'arf'as, Ruszink'o, and S'ark"ozy on $3$-uniform linear hypertrees, we study linear Tur'an numbers for higher uniformity.
We determine the linear Tur'an number of the $r$-uniform linear star $S_k^r$, proving [ex^{\mathrm{lin}}_r(n,S_k^r)\le \frac{n(k-1)}{r},] with equality exactly for $(k-1)$-regular linear $r$-uniform hypergraphs, whenever they exist. We also construct dense $T_k^r$-free hypergraphs showing that, under suitable divisibility and design-existence assumptions, [ex^{\mathrm{lin}}_r(n,T_k^r)\ge \frac{n(k-1)}{r}] for every linear $r$-uniform hypertree $T_k^r$ with $k$ hyperedges.
We then study all linear hypertrees with four hyperedges. For the broom $B_4^r$, we prove [ex^{\mathrm{lin}}_r(n,B_4^r)\le \frac{(r+1)n}{r},] and characterize the extremal hypergraphs as disjoint unions of Steiner systems $S(2,r,r^2)$, whenever such systems exist. For the crown $E_4^r$, we establish [ex^{\mathrm{lin}}_r(n,E_4^r)\le \frac{(2r-1)n}{r},] together with a lower-bound construction leaving only a constant-factor gap.
For the linear path $P_4^r$, we construct $P_4^r$-free hypergraphs with $(r+1)n/r$ hyperedges and conjecture this is the optimal general bound. We verify the conjecture for connected hypergraphs under suitable degree conditions. Finally, for $r=4$, we identify counterexamples to a key structural claim in a previous proof of Zhang and Wang, give a new proof that [ex^{\mathrm{lin}}_4(n,P_4^4)\le \frac{5n}{4},] and show that equality holds precisely for disjoint unions of Steiner systems $S(2,4,16)$.
Spectral Radius Conditions for 3-Uniform Intersecting Families
Let $M_k$ denote a matching of size $k$. The classical Erdős matching conjecture asks for the maximum number of edges of an intersecting $r$-graph without $M_k$. The csae for $k=2$, which is known as intersecting $r$-graph, is established by Erdős, Ko and Rado. Hilton and Milner further determine the maximum number of edges of a non-trivial intersecting $r$-graph, where the intersecting $r$-graph $H$ is called non-trivial if $\cap_{e\in E(H)}e=\emptyset$. In this paper, we investigate the spectral analogues of the hpergraph matching problems and intersecting family problems. More precisely, for sufficiently large $n$, we determine respectively the maximum spectral radius of $M_{k+1}$-free and non-trivial intersecting $3$-graphs on $n$ vertices, and characterize the extremal hypergraphs.
A Spectral Confirmation of the Erdős Matching Conjecture
The Erdős Matching Conjecture concerns the maximum number of hyperedges in an $r$-uniform hypergraph with bounded matching number. In this paper, we study a spectral counterpart of this conjecture. For sufficiently large $n$, we determine the maximum spectral radius over all $n$-vertex $r$-uniform hypergraphs whose matching number is less than $s$, and characterize the unique extremal hypergraph.
To establish the main theorem, we first apply the shifting method to reduce the problem to shifted hypergraphs. We then derive several spectral upper bounds through hypergraph decomposition and related variational estimates for tensor spectral radii. With these estimates, we analyze the structural properties of shifted-saturated hypergraphs and prove the spectral extremal theorem for shifted hypergraphs with bounded matching numbers. Finally, we drop the shifted condition and extend our spectral bound to general $r$-uniform hypergraphs.
Our main theorem states that for any $n$-vertex $r$-uniform hypergraph $H$ with matching number $ν(H)<s$, the inequality $ρ(H)\leq ρ(\mathcal{F}_{s-1}(n))$ holds whenever $n$ is sufficiently large. Here $\mathcal{F}_{a}(n)$ denotes the family of all $r$-subsets of $[n]$ intersecting the vertex set $[a]$, and equality is attained if and only if $H$ is isomorphic to $\mathcal{F}_{s-1}(n)$. As an immediate corollary, we derive a spectral counterpart of the classical Erdős-Ko-Rado theorem for intersecting hypergraph families.
Shadows of Uniform Hypergraphs under a Minimum Degree Condition
Given a set $X$ and an integer $t$, let $\mathcal{F}$ be a family of $k$-subsets of $X$. The Kruskal--Katona theorem states that if $|\mathcal{F}|\geq \binom{t}{k}$, then $|\partial_\ell\mathcal{F}|\geq\binom{t}{\ell}$. The minimum degree version of this problem asks: if $δ(\mathcal{F})\geq \binom{t}{k-1}$, how small can $|\partial_\ell\mathcal{F}|$ be? We call a hypergraph \textit{extremal} if it achieves the minimum value of $|\partial_\ell \mathcal{F}|$ subject to the degree condition $δ(\mathcal{F}) \geq \binom{t}{k-1}$. Füredi and Zhao [SIAM J. Discrete Math. 36(4), 2022] proved that for $k=3$ and $\ell=2$, every extremal graph contains an isolated copy of $K_{t+1}^3$ when $|X| > \frac{1}{4}(t+1)^2(t+2)$. In this article, we study the general case $k > \ell \geq 2$. By developing a hypergraph transformation that combines shifting operations with antilexicographic compression, we prove that there exists an extremal hypergraph containing an isolated copy of $K^{k}_{t+1}$ whenever $|X| > \frac{1}{4}(t+1)^2\binom{t-1}{\ell-2} + 2t$.
Counting sunflowers in hypergraphs with bounded matching number and Erdős Matching Conjecture in the $(t,k)$-norm
It is well known that Erdős Matching Conjecture concerns the maximum number of hyperedges in an $r$-uniform hypergraph with bounded matching number. As a generalization, it is natural to ask for the maximum number of copies of subhypergraphs. Given integers $r\geq2$ and $k\ge 1$, let $S_{r-1,k}^r$ denote the $r$-uniform hypergraph with hyperedges $\{e_1, \dots, e_k\}$ such that there exists an $(r-1)$-set $T$ with $e_i \cap e_j = T$ for $1\le i < j \le k$. We determine the maximum number of copies of $S_{r-1,k}^r$ in an $r$-uniform hypergraph with bounded matching number, and characterize all extremal hypergraphs. An interesting phenomenon is that the extremal numbers and extremal hypergraphs are exactly the same for all $k\ge 1$.
Our main tool is the shifting method. By establishing an injection, we prove that the shifting operation does not decrease the number of copies of $S_{r-1,k}^r$ for all $k\geq1$, thereby answering a question raised by Wang and Peng (2026). Moreover, we present a counting method for estimating the number of copies of $S_{r-1,k}^r$ in arbitrary $r$-uniform hypergraphs.
Counting the number of copies of $S_{r-1,k}^r$ in $r$-uniform hypergraphs is closely related to Turán problems in the $(r-1,k)$-norm proposed by Chen, Il'kovič, León, Liu and Pikhurko. The $(r-1,k)$-norm of an $r$-uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ is the sum of the $k$-th power of the degrees $d_{\mathcal{H}}(T)$ over all $(r-1)$-subsets $T \subseteq V(\mathcal{H})$. Combining our established result with that of Frankl (2013), and utilizing the Newton expansion of powers and Stirling numbers of the second kind, we show that Erdős Matching Conjecture in the $(r-1,k)$-norm holds, which generalizes the result of Brooks and Linz concerning the $(r-1,2)$-norm case.
Spectral Turán Problems for Expanded hypergraphs
Given a graph $F$, the expansion $F^{(r)}$ of $F$ is defined as the $r$-uniform hypergraph obtained from $F$ by adding a set of $(r-2)$ distinct new vertices to each edge of $F$. In this paper, we investigate spectral stability results for hypergraphs and their applications. We first establish a spectral stability property: for any $r$-uniform hypergraph containing no copy of the expansion $F^{(r)}$ of a $(k+1)$-chromatic graph $F$, if its $p$-spectral is close to the extremal value, then the hypergraph is structurally close to $T_r(n, k)$, the complete $k$-partite $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices where sizes of any two parts differ by at most one.Using this spectral stability result, we determine the unique extremal hypergraph that maximizes the $p$-spectral radius among all $n$-vertex $r$-uniform hypergraphs without $t$ vertex-disjoint copies of the expansion $K_{k+1}^{(r)}$ of $K_{k+1}$. We prove that this extremal hypergraph is isomorphic to $K_{t-1}^{r} \,\vee\, T_r(n-t+1, k)$, the join of the complete $r$-uniform hypergraph $K_{t-1}^{r}$ and $T_r(n-t+1, k)$.As a corollary, we show that $K_{t-1}^{r} \,\vee\, T_r(n-t+1, k)$ is the unique extremal hypergraph for $tK_{k+1}^{(r)}$, which extends a result of Pikhurko [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B, 103 (2013) 220--225] for expanded complete graphs.
Saturation numbers for $3$-uniform Berge-$K_4$
The saturation number $\text{sat}_r(n,\mathcal{F})$ is the minimum number of hyperedges in an $r$-uniform $\mathcal{F}$-saturated hypergraph on $n$ vertices. We determine this parameter for $3$-uniform Berge-$K_4$ hypergraphs, proving that $\text{sat}_3(n,\text{Berge-}K_4)=n$ for $n =5,7,8$ and $n\ge 96$, while $\text{sat}_3(6,\text{Berge-}K_4)=5$. This resolves a problem posed by English, Kritschgau, Nahvi, and Sprangel~\cite{EKNS2024} for large $n.$ Using a computer search, we classify all extremal hypergraphs for $5\le n\le 8.$ For $n\geq 96$, we further show the existence of many non-isomorphic extremal families. Our approach synthesizes structural insights with computational power.

A hypergraph $H$ is said to be \emph{linear} if every pair of vertices lies in at most one hyperedge. Given a family $\mathcal{F}$ of $r$-uniform hypergraphs, an $r$-uniform hypergraph $H$ is \emph{$\mathcal{F}$-free} if it contains no member of $\mathcal{F}$ as a subhypergraph. The \emph{linear Turán number} $ex_r^{\mathrm{lin}}(n,\mathcal{F})$ denotes the maximum number of hyperedges in an $\mathcal{F}$-free linear $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices.
Gyárfás, Ruszinkó, and Sárközy~[\emph{Linear Turán numbers of acyclic triple systems}, European J.\ Combin.\ (2022)] initiated the study of bounds on the linear Turán number for acyclic $3$-uniform linear hypergraphs.
In this paper, we extend the study of linear Turán number for acyclic systems to higher uniformity. We first give a construction for any linear $r$-uniform tree with $k$ edges that yields the lower bound $ ex_r^{\mathrm{lin}}(n,T_k^r)\ge {n(k-1)}/{r}, $ under mild divisibility and existence assumptions. Next, we study hypertrees with four edges. We prove the exact bound $ ex_r^{\mathrm{lin}}(n,B_4^r)\le {(r+1)n}/{r} $ and characterize the extremal hypergraph class, where $B_4^r$ is formed from $S_3^r$ by appending a hyperedge incident to a degree-one vertex. We also prove the bound $ ex_r^{\mathrm{lin}}(n,E_4^r)\le {(2r-1)n}/{r} $ for the crown $E_4^r$. Finally, we give a construction showing $ ex_r^{\mathrm{lin}}(n,P_4^r)\ge {(r+1)n}/{r} $ under suitable assumptions and conclude with a conjecture on sharp upper bound for $P_4^r$.
Forbidding edge-critical graphs as trace in uniform hypergraphs
We say a hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ contains a graph $G$ as trace if there exists a vertex subset $S \subseteq V(\mathcal{H})$ such that $|S| = V(G)$ and $\{e \cap S \mid e \in E(\mathcal{H})\}$ contains $G$ as a subgraph.
We use $\mathrm{ex}(n, Tr_r(G))$ to denote the maximum number of edges in an $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices not containing $G$ as trace.
The study of Turán numbers for traces was initiated by Mubayi and Zhao~(2017) who studied $\mathrm{ex}(n, Tr_r(K_{s+1}))$ where $K_{s+1}$ is a clique on $s+1$ vertices and conjectured the exact value of $\mathrm{ex}(n, Tr_r(K_{s+1}))$.
When $r \le s$, the conjecture was covered by a result of Pikhurko~(2013) who gave the exact value of Turán numbers for expanded cliques.
Then Gerbner and Picollelli~(2023) gave the exact value for book graphs~($K_{1,1,t}$, the complete tripartite graph with two parts of size one and one part of size $t \ge 2$).
We say $G$ is edge-critical if there exists an edge $e \in E(G)$ such that $χ(G - e) < χ(G)$ where $χ(G)$ is the chromatic number of $G$.
The definition of edge-critical was given by Simonovits~(1974), who proved that for an edge-critical graph $G$ with $χ(G) = s+1 \ge 3$, the Turán graph $T(n,s)$ is the unique extremal graph for $ex(n,G)$ as $n$ is sufficiently large.
In this paper, we further generalize the results of Gerbner and Picollelli~(2023) to edge-critical graphs.
More precisely, we prove that for an edge-critical graph $G$ with $χ(G) = s+1$, when $s \ge r \ge 3$ and $n$ is sufficiently large, the $r$-uniform Turán graph $T_r(n,s)$ is the unique extremal hypergraph.
The signless Laplacian spectral Turán problems for hypergraphs
Let $\mathcal{H}=(V, E)$ be an $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices. The signless Laplacian spectral radius of $\mathcal{H}$ is defined as the maximum modulus of the eigenvalues of the tensor $\mathcal{Q}(\mathcal{H})=\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{H})+\mathcal{A}(\mathcal{H})$, where $\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{H})$ and $\mathcal{A}(\mathcal{H})$ are the degree diagonal tensor and the adjacency tensor of $\mathcal{H}$, respectively. In this paper, we establish a general theorem that extends the spectral Turán result of Keevash, Lenz and Mubayi [SIAM J. Discrete Math., 28 (4) (2014)]
to the setting of signless Laplacian spectral Turán problems. We prove that if a family $\mathcal{F}$ of $r$-uniform hypergraphs is degree-stable with respect to a family $\mathcal{H}_n$ of $r$-uniform hypergraphs and its extremal constructions satisfy certain natural assumptions, then the signless Laplacian spectral Turán problem for $\mathcal{F}$ can be effectively reduced to the corresponding problem restricted to the family $\mathcal{H}_n$. As a concrete application, we completely determine the extremal hypergraph that maximizes the signless Laplacian spectral radius among all Fano plane-free $3$-uniform hypergraphs, showing that the unique extremal hypergraph is the balanced complete bipartite $3$-uniform hypergraph.
Color-avoiding directed paths in tournaments
We study the following Ramsey-theoretic question: given a $q$-coloring of the edges of a tournament, how long of a directed path can we guarantee whose edges avoid one of the colors? Questions of this type have applications in many areas, such as vector sequences, convex geometry, and extremal hypergraph theory, and have been extensively studied over the past 50 years.
We prove that if $\varepsilon>0$ is fixed and $q$ is sufficiently large, then every $q$-edge-colored $N$-vertex tournament contains a color-avoiding directed path of length $N^{1-\varepsilon}$. This answers a question of Gowers and Long, strengthens several of their results, and extends earlier work of Loh.
A hypergraph analogue of Alon-Frankl Theorem
Recently, Alon and Frankl (JCTB, 2024) determined the maximum number of edges in $K_{\ell+1}$-free $n$-vertex graphs with bounded matching number. For integers $\ell\ge r \ge 2$, the family $\mathcal{K}_{\ell+1}^{r}$ consists of all $r$-graphs $F$ with at most $\binom{\ell+1}{2}$ edges such that, for some $(\ell+1)$-set $K$, every pair $\{x,y\} \subseteq K$ is covered by an edge in $F$. In this paper, we study the maximum number of edges in $\mathcal{K}_{\ell+1}^r$-free $r$-uniform hypergraphs that have the matching number at most $s$, that is, $\mathrm{ex}_r(n, \{\mathcal{K}_{\ell+1}^r, M^r_{s+1}\})$, and obtain the exact value for sufficiently large $n$, along with the corresponding extremal hypergraph. This result can be viewed as a hypergraph extension of the work of Alon and Frankl. In addition, for the $3$-uniform Fano plane $\mathbb{F}$, we determine the exact value of $\mathrm{ex}_3(n, \{\mathbb{F}, M^3_{s+1}\})$, and characterize the corresponding extremal hypergraph.
Spectral Turán-type problems for the $α$-spectral radius of hypergraphs with degree stability
An $r$-pattern $P$ is defined as an ordered pair $P=([l],E)$, where $l$ is a positive integer and $E$ is a set of $r$-multisets with elements from $[l]$. An $r$-graph $H$ is said to be $P$-colorable if there is a homomorphism $φ$: $V(H)\rightarrow [l]$ such that the $r$-multiset $\{φ(v_{1}),\ldots,φ(v_{r})\}$ is in $E$ for every edge $\{v_{1},\ldots,v_{r}\}\in E(H)$. Let $Col(P)$ denote the family of all $P$-colorable $r$-graphs. This paper establishes spectral extremal results for $α$-spectral radius of hypergraphs using analytic techniques. We show that for any family $\mathcal{F}$ of $r$-graphs
that is degree-stable with respect to $Col(P)$, spectral
Turán-type problems can be effectively reduced to spectral extremal problems within $Col(P)$. As an application, we determine the maximum $α$-spectral radius ($α\geq1$) among all $n$-vertex $F^{(r)}$-free $r$-graphs, where $F^{(r)}$ represents the $r$-expansion of the color critical graph $F$. We also characterize the corresponding extremal hypergraphs. Furthermore, leveraging the spectral method, we derive a corresponding edge Turán extremal result. More precisely, we show that if $\mathcal{F}$ is degree-stable with respect to $Col(P)$, then every $\mathcal{F}$-free edge extremal hypergraph must be a $P$-colorable hypergraph.
