Point-balanced arrangements in the real projective plane and the Hirzebruch property
A collection of $m \geq 2$ lines through the origin in $\mathbb{R}^2$ is balanced if the sum of the orthogonal projections onto these lines equals $m/2$ times the identity. A line arrangement in $\mathbb{RP}^2$, endowed with the round metric of curvature $1$, is point-balanced if the tangent lines at every vertex form a balanced collection. A line arrangement $\mathcal{A}$ in $\mathbb{RP}^2$ has the Hirzebruch property if it consists of $3k$ lines and every line contains exactly $k+1$ vertices. Using a Kempf--Ness convexity argument, we show that an irreducible arrangement $\mathcal{A}$ has the Hirzebruch property if and only if its projective equivalence class contains a point-balanced representative, unique up to orthogonal transformations. We then combine elementary properties of balanced collections of lines in $\mathbb{R}^2$ with spherical geometry to prove that every irreducible point-balanced arrangement is a reflection arrangement. This gives a new proof of Panov's classification of real Hirzebruch arrangements.

K-unstable Toric Varieties and Secondary Polytopes
For K-unstable toric varieties, Székelyhidi's optimal test-function $Θ_{P}$ is a mysterious concave function over the moment polytope $P$, which gives the maximal destabilizer for K-stability, and encodes the limiting behavior of the divergent Calabi flow. As balanced norms quantize cscK metrics, we show that $Θ_{P}$ can be quantized by the maximal destabilizers for Chow-stability, which are given by the shortest GKZ vectors, i.e., the least norm point on the secondary polytope for the set $P\cap k^{-1}\mathbb{Z}^{n}$. Properties and algorithm for general sGKZ vectors are given. Our result may provide a new method to detect the K-unstability of toric varieties.

Minimal Submanifolds and Waists of Locally Symmetric Spaces
We show that compact locally symmetric manifolds $M$ with universal cover the symmetric space $X$ for $SL(n,\mathbb{R})$ form a topological higher $d$-expander family for $d\leq n/8$. We prove the same statement for $SL(n,\mathbb{R})$ replaced by a split simple non-compact real Lie group $G$ and for $d$ linear in the rank of $G$. We accomplish this by showing that minimal submanifolds of low codimension in such $M$ must have volume comparable to the volume of $M$. Our proof is based on a new monotonicity formula for minimal submanifolds of $X$, together with bounds on the decay of matrix coefficients for unitary representations of higher rank Lie groups. We also give the first locally symmetric example of power-law systolic freedom. This paper partially supersedes \cite{fl24}.

Edgewise Envelopes Between Balanced Forman and Ollivier-Ricci Curvature
Evaluating Ollivier-Ricci (OR) curvature on large-scale graphs is computationally prohibitive due to the necessity of solving an optimal transport problem for every edge. We bypass this bottleneck by deriving explicit, two-sided, piecewise-affine transfer moduli between the transport-based OR curvature and the combinatorial Balanced Forman (BF) curvature. We establish deterministic bounds for $\mathfrak{c}_{\rm OR}(i,j)$ parameterized by 2-hop local graph combinatorics, reducing the edgewise evaluation complexity from an optimal transport linear program to a worst-case $\mathcal{O}\left(\max_{v \in V} \operatorname{deg}(v)^{2.5}\right)$ time, entirely eliminating the reliance on global solvers. Empirical scalability benchmarks confirm these theoretical guarantees, demonstrating that the proposed transfer moduli yield significant asymptotic and constant-factor speedups over the steep polynomial scaling of exact OR evaluation. Furthermore, the tightness of these bounds is validated via distributional analyses on canonical random graphs and empirical networks, with the derived analytical bands enclosing the empirical distributions independent of degree heterogeneity, geometry, or clustering, providing a scalable, computationally efficient framework for rigorous statistical network analysis.
Weighted coloop splittings in rank six
With a view toward applications in Riemannian geometry, we explore coloop splitting properties of regular matroids. Nienhaus showed by classification in rank four that a regular matroid has a cocircuit whose deletion yields two coloops unless the matroid takes a particular form. In the latter case, one can split off any element of the ground set as a coloop. We reprove this using Seymour's structure theorem for regular matroids and prove an extension to matroids of ranks five and six. As an application to Riemannian geometry, we prove that the torus symmetry assumption in a recent result of Mouillé, Nienhaus, and the second author can be relaxed from rank ten to rank nine.

Curvature Diffusion of Inverse-weight Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci Flow on Finite Trees
We study the inverse-weight Lin--Lu--Yau Ricci flow on finite trees, and prove the convergence of the curvature on every edge via its diffusion equation. Moreover, the limiting curvature is the unique minimum-norm point of a polyhedron determined by the tree. We characterize possible limits of the normalized edge weights, give criteria for their convergence, and show that different positive initial metrics have equivalent omega-limit sets.

Ehrhart theorem for integral-integral affine manifolds with corners
We study lattice-counting functions on compact integral-integral affine manifolds with corners, which generalize integral unimodular polytopes. We prove analogues of Ehrhart's theorem and Ehrhart-Macdonald reciprocity in this setting.

Examples of complete Calabi--Yau metrics on affine smoothings of irregular toric Calabi--Yau cones
We present infinitely many new examples of affine Calabi--Yau manifolds of Euclidean volume growth and quadratic curvature decay, whose tangent cones at infinity are irregular and have smooth links. In the process, we demonstrate (and provide the relevant computer code) how to explicitly compute the Reeb field, the Minkowski summand cone, and its maximal decompositions for a given toric Calabi--Yau cone with smooth link from the data of its toric diagram. In complex dimension three, the component corresponding to a maximal Minkowski decomposition into lattice summands is a smoothing component if and only if every summand is either a primitive lattice segment or a unimodular lattice triangle. Furthermore, we propose an effective strategy to generate smoothable Calabi--Yau cones from a given non-smoothable one by taking Minkowski sums of certain toric diagrams, and provide an example to illustrate the method.

The $q$-deformed cross-ratio: modular invariants and Coxeter friezes
We introduce and study a scalar $q$-deformation of the cross-ratio on $\mathbb P^1(\mathbb Q)$. Our construction is based on the notion of $q$-deformed rational numbers due to Morier-Genoud and the author. The $q$-cross-ratio is invariant under $\mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$, while elements of determinant $-1$ of $\mathrm{PGL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$ act by $q\mapsto q^{-1}$. A principal result is its relation to $q$-deformed Coxeter friezes associated with rational polygons. The expansion at $q=e^h$ yields an algebraically independent sequence of modular invariants and relative invariants, although this sequence does not separate modular orbits. We compute the first two nonconstant coefficients of this expansion explicitly.

Structure theorems for Lichnerowicz-sharp graphs
Hypercube graphs are fundamental model spaces of positive curvature in discrete comparison geometry. Let $G$ be a finite, connected, simple, unweighted graph with Bakry--Émery curvature bounded below by $K$. We call $G$ Lichnerowicz-sharp if its first non-zero non-normalized Laplacian eigenvalue $λ_1=K$. We prove that, after removing a canonical collection of edges on which every $K$-eigenfunction is constant, the resulting graph has a canonical bundle structure. Its fibers are regular, have similar structure with hypercubes, and are Laplacian-cospectral with hypercubes, although they need not themselves be hypercubes. If the base graph is nontrivial, then it satisfies $\mathrm{CD}(K,\infty)$ and has first eigenvalue strictly greater than $K$. As a consequence, if the vertex degree in $G$ is constant along each canonical fiber, then every fiber is a hypercube and $G$ is a hypercube bundle. Conversely, for every $d\geq 4$, we construct Lichnerowicz-sharp graphs with non-hypercube canonical fibers of degree $d$.

An extremal theorem for graphs with non-negative Bakry--Émery curvature
Recently, Chen, Liu, and You (An extremal theorem for positive curvature of graphs, arXiv:2607.02297) proved an extremal theorem for positive Lin--Lu--Yau curvature. They further proposed the similar problems for other discrete curvature. In this paper, we prove a sharp extremal theorem for non-negative Bakry--Émery curvature with non-normalized Laplacian: every graph of order \(n\geq 7\) with more than \[ \binom {n}{2}-\lfloor{\frac{n}{2}\rfloor}-2 \] edges satisfies $CD(0,\infty)$, and this threshold is optimal.

Equivalence of Lin--Lu--Yau curvature and 1/2-Ollivier curvature on weighted graphs
In this note, we prove that, on weighted graphs, the Lin--Lu--Yau curvature coincides with the $p$-Ollivier curvature up to scaling whenever the idleness parameter $p\geq 1/2$. Moreover, the threshold $1/2$ is sharp. This extends an earlier result of Bourne et al. (Ollivier--Ricci idleness functions of graphs, SIAM J. Discrete Math., 32 (2018), no. 2, 1408-1424), where combinatorial graphs were considered. This observation yields a simple proof for the global existence and uniqueness of solutions of the Lin--Lu--Yau curvature flow in Bai et al. (Ollivier Ricci-flow on weighted graphs, Amer. J. Math. 146 (2024), 1723-1747).

Pointwise subexponential growth and near-diffusive displacement on bounded-degree graphs with non-negative Ollivier--Ricci curvature
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a possibly infinite, locally finite graph with non-negative Ollivier--Ricci curvature and degrees bounded by $d<\infty$. We prove that there exists a constant $C_d$ such that the continuous-time random walk displacement and log-volume growth satisfy \[ \mathbb{E}_x \mathrm{dist}(x,X_t)^2 \le t \exp\left[C_d \sqrt{\log t \log\log t}\right], \] \[ \log \mathrm{Vol}(B(x,r)) \le \exp\left[C_d \sqrt{\log r \log\log r}\right], \] for every $x\in V$ and all $r,t \ge e^e$.

Bipartite graphs, random graphs, and Lin--Lu--Yau curvature
Let $G = (X, Y; E)$ be a bipartite graph with parts $X$ and $Y$ where $|X|=m$ and $|Y|=n$. We show that every bipartite graph with more than $mn - D(m,n)$ edges has positive Lin--Lu--Yau curvature, where $D(m,n)=m-2+\lceil{\frac {n}{2}\rceil} \text{ if $n\geq 2m$}, \mbox{and} \ n-1 \text{ if $m\leq n< 2m$}.$ We also show that every bipartite graph of order $m+n$ with $m \geq n$ and minimum degree at least $\min\{n, \lfloor{\frac{m+n}{3}\rfloor}+1\}$ has positive Lin--Lu--Yau curvature. Both bounds are sharp. Meanwhile probabilistically we can relax the edge density conditions in above results. It is shown that relatively dense random bipartite graph is positively curved. All of our proofs are based on a new formula for Lin--Lu--Yau curvature of bipartite graphs.

Graphon as a Bridge between Graphs and Manifolds
We show that there exist graphons that interpolate between Riemannian manifolds and weighted geometric graphs. Specifically, the graph-to-manifold approximation used in manifold learning can be regarded as the composition of a graph-to-graphon convergence and a graphon-to-manifold convergence in a certain sense. Furthermore, we establish a monotonicity inequality which reveals an implicit relationship between numerous combinatorial parameters and geometric quantities on graphons. Using this inequality, we find relations among conductance, maxcut problem, capacity, and packing radius, as well as their limiting behaviours under graph-to-graphon and graphon-to-manifold convergences; some of these relations are novel even for simple graphs and closed manifolds.

Nonnegative Bakry--Émery Curvature on Bounded-Degree Graphs Implies Volume Doubling and Poincaré Inequalities
We prove that every connected simple graph of bounded degree satisfying the classical dimension-free Bakry--Émery condition $\mathrm{CD}(0,\infty)$ for the unnormalised Laplacian is volume doubling and supports, at all integer graph scales, a scale-invariant $L^2$-Poincaré inequality with dilation two, with constants depending only on the maximum degree. This settles the polynomial-growth conjecture of Cushing, Liu, and Peyerimhoff in a stronger form. The main novelty is a dimension-free adaptation of the graph-theoretic modified nonlinear heat-flow method introduced by Münch and extended to infinite weighted graphs by Pajot and Russ: point-mass consequences of $Γ_2\geq0$ and positive-resolvent smoothing replace any global $\mathrm{CD}(0,n)$ reduction, while diffusive exit-time control and finite-volume localisation yield the Poincaré inequality.
Euclidean $\vee$-systems and real PK arrangements
We establish a correspondence between two structures arising in the geometry of hyperplane arrangements: Euclidean $\vee$-systems and real polyhedral Kähler (PK) arrangements. We prove that every irreducible Euclidean $\vee$-system determines a real PK arrangement, and conversely that every real PK arrangement arises this way. As a result, we show that the moduli space of Euclidean $\vee$-systems in a fixed projective class is homeomorphic to the relative interior of a polytope. We also give a direct proof that the hyperplane arrangement associated with a Euclidean $\vee$-system is simplicial. Among the currently known simplicial line arrangements, we identify precisely those that arise from $\vee$-systems. As a consequence, we prove that the Schreiber--Veselov catalog is complete for irreducible rank-three Euclidean $\vee$-systems with at most $27$ vectors.
Hyperbolic symmetric rigidity and intrinsic surface geometry
We develop a theory of symmetric infinitesimal rigidity for bar-joint frameworks in the hyperbolic plane, where symmetry is given by a Fuchsian group acting by isometries. Using the language of gain graphs and the orbit rigidity matrix, we reduce rigidity questions for infinite symmetric frameworks in the upper-half plane H to finite combinatorial conditions. Our main result provides a combinatorial characterisation of the infinitesimal rigidity for Gamma-symmetric frameworks, which are as generic as possibly allowed by the symmetry, when Gamma is a surface group. Namely, we show that a Gamma-gain graph is Gamma-isostatic if and only if it satisfies certain matroidal sparsity conditions. In particular, if Gamma is not cyclic then the appropriate combinatorial condition is (2,3,1,0)-gain tightness. Via the correspondence between Gamma-symmetric frameworks in H and finite frameworks on the quotient surface H/Gamma, this yields a characterisation of infinitesimal rigidity for frameworks on compact Riemann surfaces of genus at least 2.

An extremal theorem for positive curvature of graphs
We prove an extremal theorem for positive Ollivier/Lin--Lu--Yau curvature: every graph of order \(n\geq 8\) with more than \[ T(n)=\frac{n^2-3n}{2}-\left\lceil\frac{n}{2}\right\rceil+2 \] edges has positive Ollivier/Lin--Lu--Yau curvature, and this threshold is optimal. Moreover, for even $n\geq 12$, there exists a unique graph with $T(n)$ edges that has an edge with non-positive curvature. For $n=8,10$ and odd $n\geq 9$, the extremal graphs are not unique. This suggests a new class of extremal graph-theoretic problems arising from discrete curvature notions.

A combinatorial Approach to $α$-Ricci and Lin-Lu-Yau Ricci curvatures on Graphs
In this paper, we study the $α$-Ricci curvature and the Lin-Lu-Yau Ricci curvature on simple, connected, and locally finite graphs. For regular graphs, we introduce a combinatorial construction of optimal transport plans realizing the 1-Wasserstein distance and use it to derive exact formulas for the $α$-Ricci curvature and the Lin-Lu-Yau Ricci curvature. This yields a combinatorial proof of the known curvature formulas. Furthermore, for non-regular graphs, we characterize conditions on the size of common neighborhoods that guarantee either non-negative or vanishing Lin-Lu-Yau Ricci curvature.
