Spectral extremal problems on 1-planar graphs without Friendship graph
Let $\textit{spex}_{\mathcal{P}_1}(n,F)$ be the maximum spectral radius among all $n$-vertex $F$-free $1$-planar graphs. Define $F_t$ as the friendship graph formed by $t$ triangles sharing exactly one common vertex. Tait and Tobin (2017)~\cite{Tait2017} used the fundamental structure of spectral extremal graphs to determine the unique planar graph with maximum spectral radius for sufficiently large order. Subsequently, Zhang, Wang and Wang (2024)~\cite{Zhang2024} characterized the corresponding extremal graph in the class of $1$-planar graphs. In this paper, we focus on $F_t$-free $1$-planar graphs and establish a structural theorem for their spectral extremal graphs for all $t\geq1$ and sufficiently large $n$. More precisely, every extremal graph is connected and contains a copy of $K_{2,n-2}$, and for $t\geq2$ the two distinguished vertices are adjacent and the subgraph induced by the remaining vertices is a bipartite graph. Based on this structure result together with the drawing properties of $K_{3,6}$, we determine $\textit{spex}_{\mathcal{P}_1}(n,F_t)$ and characterize its unique extremal graph.
Independence number, essential connectivity and the distance spectral radius of graphs
An independent set of a graph G is a subset of VG, no two of which are adjacent. The cardinality of a maximum independent set in a graph G is called the independence number of G, denoted by alpha(G). The essential connectivity kappa'(G) of a graph G is denoted as the minimum number of vertices of G whose removal produces a disconnected graph with at least two non-trivial components. In this paper, we determine the n-vertex connected graphs with given independence number and essential connectivity that attain the minimum distance spectral radius, and fully characterize the corresponding extremal graphs.
Spectral extremal problems on planar and outerplanar graphs without $C_{k,l}
Let $\emph{spex}_{\mathcal{P}}(n,F)$ and $\emph{spex}_{\mathcal{OP}}(n,F)$ be the maximum spectral radius among all $n$-vertex $F$-free planar graphs and outerplanar graphs, respectively. Define $C_{k,l}$ as a graph obtained from $C_k \cup C_l$ such that the two cycles share a common vertex, where $l \ge k \ge 3$. In the 1990s, Cvetković and Rowlinson conjectured $K_1 + P_{n-1}$ maximizes spectral radius in outerplanar graphs on $n$ vertices, while Boots and Royle (independently, Cao and Vince) conjectured $K_2 + P_{n-2} $ does so in planar graphs. Tait and Tobin [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B, 2017] determined the fundamental structure as the key to confirming these two conjectures for sufficiently large $n$. Recently, Yin and Li [Discrete Mathematics, 2026] characterized the extremal graphs for $\emph{spex}_{\mathcal{P}}(n,B_{t,l})$ and $\emph{spex}_{\mathcal{OP}}(n,B_{t,l})$ in planar and outerplanar graphs on the basis of this key idea, where $B_{t,l}$ denotes the graph obtained by $t$ edge-disjoint $l$-cycles sharing a common vertex. In this paper, we focus on planar and outerplanar graphs without $C_{k,l}$, and determine $\emph{spex}_{\mathcal{P}}(n,C_{k,l})$ and $\emph{spex}_{\mathcal{OP}}(n,C_{k,l})$ along with their unique extremal graphs for all $l \geq k \geq 3$ and large $n$.
Spectral radius, toughness, binding number and $k$-factor of graphs
A $k$-regular spanning subgraph of $G$ is called a $k$-factor. In this paper, we provide spectral radius and edge conditions to ensure that a graph $G$ with $δ(G)\ge k$ admits a $k$-factor. Fan, Lin and Lu [European J. Combin. 110 (2023) 103701] presented a tight sufficient condition in terms of the spectral radius for a connected 1-tough graph to contain a connected 2-factor (Hamilton cycle). Then it is interesting to consider the following problem: What is the spectral radius condition to guarantee the existence of a $k$-factor with $k\ge3$ in a connected 1-tough graph $G$ with $δ(G)\ge k$? We completely solve this problem, and we further obtain a sufficient spectral radius condition for the existence of a $k$-factor in a connected 1-binding graph, which solves an important problem posed by Fan and Lin [Electron. J. Combin. 31 (2024) 1--30].

The Brouwer's toughness conjecture states that every $d$-regular connected graph always has $t(G)>\frac{d}λ-1$ where $λ$ is the second largest absolute eigenvalue of the adjacency matrix. In 1988, Enomoto introduced a variation of toughness $τ(G)$ of a graph $G$. By incorporating the variation of toughness and spectral conditions, we provide spectral conditions for a graph to be $τ$-tough ($τ\geq 2$ is an integer) and to be $τ$-tough ($\frac{1}τ$ is a positive integer) with minimum degree $δ$, respectively. Additionally, we also investigate a analogous problem concerning balanced bipartite graphs.

Let $G$ be a graph with adjacency matrix $A(G)$, and let $D(G)$ be the diagonal matrix of the degrees of $G$. For any real $α\in[0,1]$, write $A_α(G)$ for the matrix $$A_α(G)=αD(G)+(1-α)A(G).$$ This paper presents some extremal results about the spectral radius $ρ(A_α(G))$ of $A_α(G)$ that generalize previous results about $ρ(A_0(G))$ and $ρ(A_{\frac{1}{2}}(G))$. In this paper, we give some results on graph perturbation for $A_α$-matrix with $α\in [0,1)$. As applications, we characterize all extremal trees with the maximum $A_α$-spectral radius in the set of all trees with prescribed degree sequence firstly. Furthermore, we characterize the unicyclic graphs that have the largest $A_α$-spectral radius for a given unicycilc degree sequence.
