Involutions avoiding 4321 and another pattern of length four
We enumerate all families of involutions avoiding a classical pattern of length four together with 4321. While the enumeration of permutations avoiding two classical patterns is by now well understood, the case of pattern-avoiding involutions presents additional structural constraints that require dedicated techniques. In particular our main enumerative tool is Biane's bijection between involutions and labelled Motzkin paths.
The paper provides exact bivariate generating functions (taking into account length and number of descents), and structural descriptions for all except one family. In the remaining case we provide a functional equation for the generating function and express it as an explicit continued fraction.
We make extensive use of experimental and software-supported methods.
Hertzsprung patterns on involutions

Hertzsprung patterns, recently introduced by Anders Claesson, are subsequences of a permutation contiguous in both positions and values, and can be seen as a subclass of bivincular patterns.
This paper investigates Hertzsprung patterns within involutions, where additional structural constraints introduce new challenges. We present a general formula for enumerating occurrences of these patterns in involutions.
We also analyze specific cases to derive the distribution of all Hertzsprung patterns of lengths two and three.

We study groups generated by sets of pattern avoiding permutations. In the first part of the paper we prove some general results concerning the structure of such groups. In the second part we carry out a case-by-case analysis of groups generated by permutations avoiding few short patterns.

We enumerate and characterize some classes of alternating and reverse alternating involutions avoiding a single pattern of length three or four. If on one hand the case of patterns of length three is trivial, on the other hand, the length four case is more challenging and involves sequences of combinatorial interest, such as Motzkin and Fibonacci numbers.
On the number of fixed points of the map $γ$
We recursively define a sequence $\{F_{n,k}\}_{n,k\in\mathbb N }$ and we prove that such sequence contains only the symbols $\{0,1\}.$ We investigate some number-theoretic properties of such sequence and of the way it can be generated. The number $F_n$ can be interpreted as the number of fixed points of semilength $n$ of the map $γ$ introduced by Barnabei et al. Our results partially answer conjectures posed by Cori et al.
