Reconstruction of slices of cubes
We prove that the combinatorial type of a slice of the cube by a hyperplane is completely determined by its graph, within the class of cube slices. We also show that such a result cannot extend to slices of arbitrary simple polytopes by constructing a simple polytope that has two combinatorially distinct slices with isomorphic graphs.
On Smooth Combinatorial Products of Simplices
We show that every lattice weak Minkowski summand of a smooth polytope combinatorially isomorphic to a product of simplices has a quadratic triangulation. This is achieved by identifying this class of polytopes with the class of Nakajima polytopes. We combine these results to give a new proof that two lattice weak Minkowski summands of the same such smooth polytope are relatively IDP. Along the way, we prove a structure theorem for simple polytopes whose 2-faces are triangles and trapezoids.
Smooth Combinatorial Cubes are IDP
Tadao Oda conjectured that every smooth polytope has the Integer Decomposition Property. In this paper, we show this result for a subclass of polytopes: smooth combinatorial cubes of any dimension.
