On Hypergraph Lagrangians and Frankl-Füredi's Conjecture
Frankl and Füredi conjectured in 1989 that the maximum Lagrangian, denoted by $λ_r(m)$, among all $r$-uniform hypergraphs of fixed size $m$ is achieved by the minimum hypergraph $C_{r,m}$ under the colexicographic order. We say $m$ in {\em principal domain} if there exists an integer $t$ such that ${t-1\choose r}\leq m\leq {t\choose r}-{t-2\choose r-2}$. If $m$ is in the principal domain, then Frankl-Füredi's conjecture has a very simple expression: $$λ_r(m)=\frac{1}{(t-1)^r}{t-1\choose r}.$$ Many previous results are focusing on $r=3$. For $r\geq 4$, Tyomkyn in 2017 proved that Frankl-Füredi's conjecture holds whenever ${t-1\choose r} \leq m \leq {t\choose r} -{t-2\choose r-2}- δ_rt^{r-2}$ for a constant $δ_r>0$. In this paper, we improve Tyomkyn's result by showing Frankl-Füredi's conjecture holds whenever ${t-1\choose r} \leq m \leq {t\choose r} -{t-2\choose r-2}- δ_r't^{r-\frac{7}{3}}$ for a constant $δ_r'>0$.
On Lagrangians of $3$-uniform hypergraphs
Frankl and Füredi conjectured in 1989 that the maximum Lagrangian of all $r$-uniform hypergraphs of fixed size $m$ is realized by the minimum hypergraph $C_{r,m}$ under the colexicographic order. In this paper, we prove a weaker version of the Frankl and Füredi's conjecture at $r=3$: there exists an absolute constant $c>0$ such that for any $3$-uniform hypergraph $H$ with $m$ edges, the Lagrangian of $H$ satisfies $λ(H)\leq λ(C_{3,m+cm^{2/9}})$.
In particular, this result implies that the Frankl and Füredi's conjecture holds for $r=3$ and $m\in [{t-1\choose 3}, {t\choose 3}-(t-2)-ct^{\frac{2}{3}}]$. It improves a recent result of Tyomkyn.
k-Ary spanning trees contained in tournaments
A rooted tree is called a $k$-ary tree, if all non-leaf vertices have exactly $k$ children, except possibly one non-leaf vertex has at most $k-1$ children. Denote by $h(k)$ the minimum integer such that every tournament of order at least $h(k)$ contains a $k$-ary spanning tree. It is well-known that every tournament contains a Hamiltonian path, which implies that $h(1)=1$. Lu et al. [J. Graph Theory {\bf 30}(1999) 167--176] proved the existence of $h(k)$, and showed that $h(2)=4$ and $h(3)=8$. The exact values of $h(k)$ remain unknown for $k\geq 4$. A result of Erdős on the domination number of tournaments implies $h(k)=Ω(k\log k)$. In this paper, we prove that $h(4)=10$ and $h(5)\geq13$.

Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a family of graphs. A graph $G$ is $\mathcal{F}$-saturated if $G$ contains no member of $\mathcal{F}$ as a subgraph but $G+e$ contains some member of $\mathcal{F}$ whenever $e\in E(\overline{G})$. The saturation number and extremal number of $\mathcal{F}$, denoted $sat(n,\mathcal{F})$ and $ex(n,\mathcal{F})$ respectively, are the minimum and maximum numbers of edges among $n$-vertex $\mathcal{F}$-saturated graphs. For $k\in\mathbb{N}$, let $\mathcal{F}_k$ and $\mathcal{F}'_k$ be the families of $k$-connected and $k$-edge-connected graphs, respectively. Wenger proved $sat(n,\mathcal{F}_k)=(k-1)n-{k\choose2}$, we prove $sat(n,\mathcal{F}'_k)=(k-1)(n-1)-\lfloor{\frac {n}{k+1}}\rfloor{k-1 \choose 2}$. We also prove $ex(n,\mathcal{F}'_k)=(k-1)n-{k\choose2}$ and characterize when equality holds. Finally, we give a lower bound on the spectral radius for $\mathcal{F}_k$-saturated and $\mathcal{F}'_k$-saturated graphs.

The star chromatic index of a multigraph $G$, denoted $χ'_{s}(G)$, is the minimum number of colors needed to properly color the edges of $G$ such that no path or cycle of length four is bi-colored. A multigraph $G$ is star $k$-edge-colorable if $χ'_{s}(G)\le k$. Dvořák, Mohar and Šámal [Star chromatic index, J Graph Theory 72 (2013), 313--326] proved that every subcubic multigraph is star $7$-edge-colorable, and conjectured that every subcubic multigraph should be star $6$-edge-colorable. Kerdjoudj, Kostochka and Raspaud considered the list version of this problem for simple graphs and proved that every subcubic graph with maximum average degree less than $7/3$ is star list-$5$-edge-colorable. It is known that a graph with maximum average degree $14/5$ is not necessarily star $5$-edge-colorable. In this paper, we prove that every subcubic multigraph with maximum average degree less than $12/5$ is star $5$-edge-colorable.
Rainbow vertex connection of digraphs

An edge-coloured path is \emph{rainbow} if its edges have distinct colours. An edge-coloured connected graph is said to be \emph{rainbow connected} if any two vertices are connected by a rainbow path, and \emph{strongly rainbow connected} if any two vertices are connected by a rainbow geodesic. The (\emph{strong}) \emph{rainbow connection number} of a connected graph is the minimum number of colours needed to make the graph (strongly) rainbow connected. These two graph parameters were introduced by Chartrand, Johns, McKeon and Zhang in 2008. As an extension, Krivelevich and Yuster proposed the concept of \emph{rainbow vertex-connection}. The topic of rainbow connection in graphs drew much attention and various similar parameters were introduced, mostly dealing with undirected graphs.
Dorbec, Schiermeyer, Sidorowicz and Sopena extended the concept of the rainbow connection to digraphs. In this paper, we consider the (strong) rainbow vertex-connection number of digraphs. Results on the (strong) rainbow vertex-connection number of biorientations of graphs, cycle digraphs, circulant digraphs and tournaments are presented.

An edge-coloured path is rainbow if its edges have distinct colours. For a connected graph $G$, the rainbow connection number (resp. strong rainbow connection number) of $G$ is the minimum number of colours required to colour the edges of $G$ so that, any two vertices of $G$ are connected by a rainbow path (resp. rainbow geodesic). These two graph parameters were introduced by Chartrand, Johns, McKeon and Zhang in 2008. Krivelevich and Yuster generalised this concept to the vertex-coloured setting. Similarly, Liu, Mestre and Sousa introduced the version which involves total-colourings.
Dorbec, Schiermeyer, Sidorowicz and Sopena extended the concept of the rainbow connection to digraphs. In this paper, we consider the (strong) total rainbow connection number of digraphs. Results on the (strong) total rainbow connection number of biorientations of graphs, tournaments and cactus digraphs are presented.

Dvořák, Mohar and Šámal [Star chromatic index, J. Graph Theory 72 (2013), 313--326] proved that every subcubic multigraph is star $7$-edge-colorable. They conjectured in the same paper that every subcubic multigraph should be star $6$-edge-colorable. In this paper, we first prove that it is NP-complete to determine whether $χ'_s(G)\le3$ for an arbitrary graph $G$. This answers a question of Mohar. We then establish some structure results on subcubic multigraphs $G$ with $δ(G)\le2$ such that $χ'_s(G)>k$ but $χ'_s(G-v)\le k$ for any $v\in V(G)$, where $k\in\{5,6\}$. We finally apply the structure results, along with a simple discharging method, to prove that every subcubic multigraph $G$ is star $6$-edge-colorable if $mad(G)<5/2$, and star $5$-edge-colorable if $mad(G)<24/11$, respectively, where $mad(G)$ is the maximum average degree of a multigraph $G$. This partially confirms the conjecture of Dvořák, Mohar and Šámal.
