Reduction of integer tiles via CRT and base-p digits
Coven and Meyerowitz gave two cyclotomic conditions, (T1) and (T2), which characterize integer tiles whose cardinalities have at most two distinct prime factors. We prove that the same characterization holds without this restriction. The proof uses a reduction in Chinese remainder coordinates: slicing by the lowest base-p digit produces sets with a common tiling complement in a group of order smaller by a factor of p. This reduction preserves the cyclotomic data needed for an induction on the exponents in (T2).

A graph $Γ$ is basic if Aut$Γ$ has no normal subgroup $N\ne1$ such that $Γ$ is a normal cover of the normal quotient graph $Γ_N$. In this paper, we completely determine the basic normal quotient graphs of all connected 7-valent symmetric graphs of order $2pq^n$ with $p < q$ odd primes, which consist of an infinite family of dihedrants of order $2p$ with $p\equiv1$(mod 7), and 6 specific graphs with order at most 310. As a consequence, it shows that, for any given positive integer n, there are only finitely many connected 2-arc-transitive 7-valent graphs of order $2pq^n$ with $7\ne p<q$ primes, partially generalizing Theorem 1 of Conder, Li and Potocnik [On the orders of arc-transitive graphs, J. Algebra 421 (2015), 167-186].
Embedding surfaces into $S^3$ with maximum symmetry

We restrict our discussion to the orientable category. For $g > 1$, let $OE_g$ be the maximum order of a finite group $G$ acting on the closed surface $Σ_g$ of genus $g$ which extends over $(S^3, Σ_g)$, where the maximum is taken over all possible embeddings $Σ_g\hookrightarrow S^3$. We will determine $OE_g$ for each $g$, indeed the action realizing $OE_g$.
In particular, with 23 exceptions, $OE_g$ is $4(g+1)$ if $g\ne k^2$ or $4(\sqrt{g}+1)^2$ if $g=k^2$, and moreover $OE_g$ can be realized by unknotted embeddings for all $g$ except for $g=21$ and $481$.
