In 1972 Tutte famously conjectured that every 4-edge-connected graph has a nowhere zero 3-flow; this is known to be equivalent to every 5-regular, 4-edge-connected graph having an edge orientation in which every in-degree is either 1 or 4. Jaeger conjectured a generalization of Tutte's conjecture, namely, that every $4p+1$-regular, $4p$-edge-connected graph has an edge orientation in which every in-degree is either $p$ or $3p+1$. Inspired by the work of Pralat and Wormald investigating $p=1$, for $p=2$ we show this holds asymptotically almost surely for random 9-regular graphs. It follows that the conjecture holds for almost all 9-regular, 8-edge-connected graphs. These results make use of the technical small subgraph conditioning method.

We consider a quantum walk model on a finite graph which has an interaction with the outside. Here a quantum walker from the outside penetrates the graph and also a quantum walker in the graph goes out to the outside at every time step. This dynamics of the quantum walk converges to a stationary state. In this paper, we estimate the speed of the convergence to the stationary state on the $κ$-regular graph with the uniformly inserting of the inflow to the graph. We show that larger degree of the regular graph makes the convergence speed of this quantum walk model slower.
A lower bound for the smallest eigenvalue of a graph and an application to the associahedron graph
In this paper, we obtain a lower bound for the smallest eigenvalue of a regular graph containing many copies of a smaller fixed subgraph. This generalizes a result of Aharoni, Alon, and Berger in which the subgraph is a triangle. We apply our results to obtain a lower bound on the smallest eigenvalue of the associahedron graph, and we prove that this bound gives the correct order of magnitude of this eigenvalue. We also survey what is known regarding the second-largest eigenvalue of the associahedron graph.

A pair of graphs $(Γ,Σ)$ is said to be stable if the full automorphism group of $Γ\timesΣ$ is isomorphic to the product of the full automorphism groups of $Γ$ and $Σ$ and unstable otherwise, where $Γ\timesΣ$ is the direct product of $Γ$ and $Σ$. In this paper, we reduce the study of the stability of any pair of regular graphs $(Γ,Σ)$ with coprime valencies and vertex-transitive $Σ$ to that of $(Γ,K_2)$. Since the latter is well studied in the literature, this enables us to determine the stability of any pair of regular graphs $(Γ,Σ)$ with coprime valencies in the case when $Σ$ is vertex-transitve and the stability of $(Γ,K_2)$ is known.
Regular graphs with a complete bipartite graph as a star complement
Let $G$ be a graph of order $n$ and $μ$ be an adjacency eigenvalue of $G$ with multiplicity $k\geq 1$. A star complement $H$ for $μ$ in $G$ is an induced subgraph of $G$ of order $n-k$ with no eigenvalue $μ$, and the vertex subset $X=V(G-H)$ is called a star set for $μ$ in $G$. The study of star complements and star sets provides a strong link between graph structure and linear algebra. In this paper, we study the regular graphs with $K_{t,s}\ (s\geq t\geq 2)$ as a star complement for an eigenvalue $μ$, especially, characterize the case of $t=3$ completely, obtain some properties when $t=s$, and propose some problems for further study.

In this paper, we study the following problem. Consider a setting where a proposal is offered to the vertices of a given network $G$, and the vertices must conduct a vote and decide whether to accept the proposal or reject it. Each vertex $v$ has its own valuation of the proposal; we say that $v$ is ``happy'' if its valuation is positive (i.e., it expects to gain from adopting the proposal) and ``sad'' if its valuation is negative. However, vertices do not base their vote merely on their own valuation. Rather, a vertex $v$ is a \emph{proponent} of the proposal if the majority of its neighbors are happy with it and an \emph{opponent} in the opposite case. At the end of the vote, the network collectively accepts the proposal whenever the majority of its vertices are proponents. We study this problem for regular graphs with loops. Specifically, we consider the class $\mathcal{G}_{n|d|h}$ of $d$-regular graphs of odd order $n$ with all $n$ loops and $h$ happy vertices. We are interested in establishing necessary and sufficient conditions for the class $\mathcal{G}_{n|d|h}$ to contain a labeled graph accepting the proposal, as well as conditions to contain a graph rejecting the proposal. We also discuss connections to the existing literature, including that on majority domination, and investigate the properties of the obtained conditions.
On the distance spectrum and distance-based topological indices of central vertex-edge join of three graphs
Topological indices are molecular descriptors that describe the properties of chemical compounds. These topological indices correlate specific physico-chemical properties like boiling point, enthalpy of vaporization, strain energy, and stability of chemical compounds. This article introduces a new graph operation based on central graph called central vertex-edge join and provides its results related to graph invariants like eccentric-connectivity index, connective eccentricity index, total-eccentricity index, average eccentricity index, Zagreb eccentricity indices, eccentric geometric-arithmetic index, eccentric atom-bond connectivity index, and Wiener index. Also, we discuss the distance spectrum of the central vertex-edge join of three regular graphs. Furthermore, we obtain new families of $D$-equienergetic graphs, which are non $D$-cospectral.

In this article, we give a first example of a pair of quantum isomorphic, non-isomorphic strongly regular graphs, that is, non-isomorphic strongly regular graphs having the same homomorphism counts from all planar graphs. The pair consists of the orthogonality graph of the $120$ lines spanned by the $E_8$ root system and a rank $4$ graph whose complement was first discovered by Brouwer, Ivanov and Klin. Both graphs are strongly regular with parameters $(120, 63, 30, 36)$. Using Godsil-McKay switching, we obtain more quantum isomorphic, non-isomorphic strongly regular graphs with the same parameters.

The difference between the two largest eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of a graph $G$ is called the spectral gap of $G.$ If $G$ is a regular graph, then its spectral gap is equal to algebraic connectivity. Abdi, Ghorbani and Imrich, in [European J. Combin. 95 (2021) 103328], showed that the minimum algebraic connectivity of cubic connected graphs on $2n$ vertices is $(1+o(1))\frac{π^{2}}{2n^{2}}$, which is attained on non-bipartite graphs. Motivated by the above result, we in this paper investigate the algebraic connectivity of cubic bipartite graphs. We prove that the minimum algebraic connectivity of cubic bipartite graphs on $2n$ vertices is $(1+o(1))\frac{π^{2}}{n^{2}}$. Moreover, the unique cubic bipartite graph with minimum algebraic connectivity is completed characterized. Based on the relation between the algebraic connectivity and spectral gap of regular graphs, the cubic bipartite graph with minimum spectral gap and the corresponding asymptotic value are also presented. In [J. Graph Theory 99 (2022) 671--690], Horak and Kim established a sharp upper bound for the number of perfect matchings in terms of the Fibonacci number. We obtain a spectral characterization for the extremal graphs by showing that a cubic bipartite graph has the maximum number of perfect matchings if and only if it minimizes the algebraic connectivity.
Maxima of spectral radius of irregular graphs with given maximum degree
Let $λ^{*}$ be the maximum spectral radius of connected irregular graphs on $n$ vertices with maximum degree $Δ$. Liu, Shen and Wang (2007) conjectured that $\lim_{n\rightarrow \infty}(n^{2}(Δ-λ^{*}))/(Δ-1)=π^{2},$ which describes the asymptotic behavior for the maximum spectral radius of irregular graphs. Focusing on this conjecture, we consider the maximum spectral radius of connected subcubic bipartite graphs. The unique connected subcubic bipartite graph with the maximum spectral radius is determined. Let $G$ be a $k$-connected irregular graph with spectral radius $λ_{1}(G)$, we present a lower bound for $Δ-λ_{1}(G)$. Moreover, if $H$ is a proper subgraph of a $k$-connected $Δ$-regular graph, a lower bound for $Δ-λ_{1}(H)$ is also obtained. These bounds improve some previous results.

In this note we solve the ``birthday problem'' for loops on random regular graphs. Namely, for fixed $d\ge 3$, we prove that on a random $d$-regular graph with $n$ vertices, as $n$ approaches infinity, with high probability:
(i) almost all primitive non-backtracking loops of length $k \prec \sqrt{n}$ are simple, i.e. do not self-intersect,
(ii) almost all primitive non-backtracking loops of length $k \succ \sqrt{n}$ self-intersect.
On directed strongly regular Cayley graphs over non-abelian groups with an abelian subgroup of index $2$
In 1988, Duval introduced the concept of directed strongly regular graphs, which can be viewed as a directed graph version of strongly regular graphs. Such directed graphs have similar structural and algebraic properties to strongly regular graphs. In the past three decades, it was found that Cayley graphs, especially those over dihedral groups, play a key role in the construction of directed strongly regular graphs. In this paper, we focus on the characterization of directed strongly regular Cayley graphs over more general groups. Let $G$ be a non-abelian group with an abelian subgroup of index $2$. We give some necessary conditions for a Cayley graph over $G$ to be directed strongly regular, and characterize the directed strongly regular Cayley graphs over $G$ satisfying specified conditions. This extends some previous results of He and Zhang (2019).

Given connected graph $H$ which is not a star, we show that the number of copies of $H$ in a dense uniformly random regular graph is asymptotically Gaussian, which was not known even for $H$ being a triangle. This addresses a question of McKay from the 2010 International Congress of Mathematicians. In fact, we prove that the behavior of the variance of the number of copies of $H$ depends in a delicate manner on the occurrence and number of cycles of length $3,4,5$ as well as paths of length $3$ in $H$. More generally, we provide control of the asymptotic distribution of certain statistics of bounded degree which are invariant under vertex permutations, including moments of the spectrum of a random regular graph.
Our techniques are based on combining complex-analytic methods due to McKay and Wormald used to enumerate regular graphs with the notion of graph factors developed by Janson in the context of studying subgraph counts in $\mathbb{G}(n,p)$.

The edge flipping is a non-reversible Markov chain on a given connected graph, which is defined by Chung and Graham. In the same paper, its eigenvalues and stationary distributions for some classes of graphs are identified. We further study its spectral properties to show a lower bound for the rate of convergence in the case of regular graphs. Moreover, we show that a cutoff occurs at 1/4 n log n for the edge flipping on the complete graph by a coupling argument

For $0 \leq t \leq r$ let $m(t,r)$ be the maximum number $s$ such that every $t$-edge-connected $r$-graph has $s$ pairwise disjoint perfect matchings. There are only a few values of $m(t,r)$ known, for instance $m(3,3)=m(4,r)=1$, and $m(t,r) \leq r-2$ for all $t \not = 5$, and $m(t,r) \leq r-3$ if $r$ is even. We prove that $m(2l,r) \leq 3l - 6$ for every $l \geq 3$ and $r \geq 2 l$.
On Stress of a Vertex in a Graph
The stress of a vertex in a graph is the number of geodesics passing through it (A. Shimbel, 1953). A graph is $k$-stress regular if stress of each of its vertices is $k$. In this paper, we investigate some results and compute stress of vertices in some standard graphs and give a characterization of graphs with all vertices of zero stress except for one. Also we compute stress of vertices in graphs of diameter 2 and in the corona product $K_m \circ G$. Further we prove that any strongly regular graph is stress regular and characterize $k$-stress regular graphs for $k=0,1,2$.

We derive an explicit formula for the fundamental solution $K_{T_{q+1}}(x,x_{0};t)$ to the discrete-time diffusion equation on the $(q+1)$-regular tree $T_{q+1}$ in terms of the discrete $I$-Bessel function. We then use the formula to derive an explicit expression for the fundamental solution $K_{X}(x,x_{0};t)$ to the discrete-time diffusion equation on any $(q+1)$-regular graph $X$. Going further, we develop three applications. The first one is to derive a general trace formula that relates the spectral data on $X$ to its topological data. Though we emphasize the results in the case when $X$ is finite, our method also applies when $X$ has a countably infinite number of vertices. As a second application, we obtain a closed-form expression for the return time probability distribution of the uniform random walk on any $(q+1)$-regular graph. The expression is obtained by relating $K_{X}(x,x_{0};t)$ to the uniform random walk on a $(q+1)$-regular graph. We then show that if $\{X_{h}\}$ is a sequence of $(q+1)$-regular graphs whose number of vertices goes to infinity and which satisfies a certain natural geometric condition, then the limit of the return time probability distributions from $\{X_{h}\}$ is equal to the return time probability distribution on the tree $T_{q+1}$. As a third application, we derive formulas which express the number of distinct closed irreducible walks without tails on a finite graph $X$ in terms of moments of the spectrum of its adjacency matrix.

Let G be a graph of order $n$ with adjacency matrix $A(G)$ and diagonal matrix of degree $D(G)$. For every $α\in [0,1]$, Nikiforov \cite{VN17} defined the matrix $A_α(G) = αD(G) + (1-α)A(G)$. In this paper we present the $A_α(G)$-characteristic polynomial when $G$ is obtained by coalescing two graphs, and if $G$ is a semi-regular bipartite graph we obtain the $A_α$-characteristic polynomial of the line graph associated to $G$. Moreover, if $G$ is a regular graph we exhibit the $A_α$-characteristic polynomial for the graphs obtained from some operations.

The distinguishing index $D'(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the least number of colors necessary to obtain an edge coloring of $G$ that is preserved only by the trivial automorphism. We show that if $G$ is a connected $α$-regular graph for some infinite cardinal $α$ then $D'(G) \le 2$, proving a conjecture of Lehner, Pilśniak, and Stawiski. We also show that if $G$ is a graph with infinite minimum degree and at most $2^α$ vertices of degree $α$ for every infinite cardinal $α$, then $D'(G) \le 3$. In particular, $D'(G) \le 3$ if $G$ has infinite minimum degree and order at most $2^{\aleph_0}$.
The number of bounded-degree spanning trees

For a graph $G$, let $c_k(G)$ be the number of spanning trees of $G$ with maximum degree at most $k$. For $k \ge 3$, it is proved that every connected $n$-vertex $r$-regular graph $G$ with $r \ge \frac{n}{k+1}$ satisfies $$ c_k(G)^{1/n} \ge (1-o_n(1)) r \cdot z_k $$ where $z_k > 0$ approaches $1$ extremely fast (e.g. $z_{10}=0.999971$). The minimum degree requirement is essentially tight as for every $k \ge 2$ there are connected $n$-vertex $r$-regular graphs $G$ with $r=\lfloor n/(k+1) \rfloor -2$ for which $c_k(G)=0$. Regularity may be relaxed, replacing $r$ with the geometric mean of the degree sequence and replacing $z_k$ with $z_k^* > 0$ that also approaches $1$, as long as the maximum degree is at most $n(1-(3+o_k(1))\sqrt{\ln k/k})$. The same holds with no restriction on the maximum degree as long as the minimum degree is at least $\frac{n}{k}(1+o_k(1))$.
