Using transversality and a dimension reduction argument, a result of A. Bezdek and W. Kuperberg is applied to polycylinders $\mathbb{D}^2\times \mathbb{R}^n$, showing that the optimal packing density is $π/\sqrt{12}$ in any dimension.
On Packing Densities of Set Partitions
We study packing densities for set partitions, which is a generalization of packing words. We use results from the literature about packing densities for permutations and words to provide packing densities for set partitions. These results give us most of the packing densities for partitions of the set $\{1,2,3\}$. In the final section we determine the packing density of the set partition $\{\{1,3\},\{2\}\}$.

We provide a complete description of important geometric invariants of the Laplacian lattice of a multigraph under the distance function induced by a regular simplex, namely Voronoi Diagram, Delaunay Triangulation, Delaunay Polytope and its combinatorial structure, Shortest Vectors, Covering and Packing Radius. We use this information to obtain the following results: i. Every multigraph defines a Delaunay triangulation of its Laplacian lattice and this Delaunay triangulation contains complete information of the multigraph up to isomorphism. ii. The number of multigraphs with a given Laplacian lattice is controlled, in particular upper bounded, by the number of different Delaunay triangulations. iii. We obtain formulas for the covering and packing densities of a Laplacian lattice and deduce that in the space of Laplacian lattices of undirected connected multigraphs, the Laplacian lattices of highly connected multigraphs such as Ramanujan multigraphs possess good covering and packing properties.
Combinatorial cube packings in cube and torus
We consider sequential random packing of cubes $z+[0,1]^n$ with $z\in \frac{1}{N}\ZZ^n$ into the cube $[0,2]^n$ and the torus $\QuotS{\RR^n}{2\ZZ^n}$ as $N\to\infty$. In the cube case $[0,2]^n$ as $N\to\infty$ the random cube packings thus obtained are reduced to a single cube with probability $1-O(\frac{1}{N})$. In the torus case the situation is different: for $n\leq 2$, sequential random cube packing yields cube tilings, but for $n\geq 3$ with strictly positive probability, one obtains non-extensible cube packings.
So, we introduce the notion of combinatorial cube packing, which instead of depending on $N$ depend on some parameters. We use use them to derive an expansion of the packing density in powers of $\frac{1}{N}$. The explicit computation is done in the cube case. In the torus case, the situation is more complicate and we restrict ourselves to the case $N\to\infty$ of strictly positive probability. We prove the following results for torus combinatorial cube packings: We give a general Cartesian product construction. We prove that the number of parameters is at least $\frac{n(n+1)}{2}$ and we conjecture it to be at most $2^n-1$. We prove that cube packings with at least $2^n-3$ cubes are extensible. We find the minimal number of cubes in non-extensible cube packings for $n$ odd and $n\leq 6$.
Packing sets of patterns

Packing density is a permutation occurrence statistic which describes the maximal number of permutations of a given type that can occur in another permutation. In this article we focus on containment of sets of permutations. Although this question has been tangentially considered previously, this is the first systematic study of it. We find the packing density for various special sets of permutations and study permutation and pattern co-occurrence.

We bound several quantities related to the packing density of the patterns 1(L+1)L...2. These bounds sharpen results of Bóna, Sagan, and Vatter and give a new proof of the packing density of these patterns, originally computed by Stromquist in the case L=2 and by Price for larger L. We end with comments and conjectures.

In this paper, a result of Albert, Atkinson, Handley, Holton, and Stromquist [Electron. J. Combin. 9 (2002), #R5] which characterizes the optimal packing behavior of the pattern 1243 is generalized in two directions. The packing densities of layered patterns of type (1^a,a) and (1,1,b) are computed.

In this article we generalize packing density problems from permutations to patterns with repeated letters and generalized patterns. We are able to find the packing density for some classes of patterns and several other short patterns.
