Commuting graphs and semigroup constructions
The aim of this paper is to see how commuting graphs interact with two semigroup constructions: the zero-union and the direct product. For both semigroup constructions, we investigate the diameter, clique number, girth, chromatic number and knit degree of their commuting graphs and, when possible, we exhibit the relationship between each one of these properties and the corresponding properties of the commuting graphs of the original semigroups.
Exact Turán numbers of two vertex-disjoint paths
The Turán number of a graph $H$ is the maximum number of edges in any graph of order $n$ that does not contain $H$ as a subgraph. In 1959, Erd\H os and Gallai obtained a sharp upper bound of Turán numbers for a path of arbitrary length. In 1975, Faudree and Schelp, and independently in 1977, Kopylov determined the exact values of Turán numbers of paths with arbitrary length. In this paper, we determine the Turán number of two vertex-disjoint paths of odd order at least 4. Together with previous works, we determine the exact Turán numbers of two vertex-disjoint paths completely. This confirms the first $k=2$ case of a conjecture proposed by Yuan and Zhang in 2021, which generalizes the Turán number formula of paths due to Faudree-Schelp, and Kopylov in a broader setting. Our main tools include a refinement of Pósa's rotation lemma, a stability result of Kopylov's theorem on cycles, and a recent inequality on circumference, minimum degree, and clique number of a 2-connected graph.
The circumference of a graph with given minimum degree and clique number
The circumference denoted by $c(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the length of its longest cycle. Let $δ(G)$ and $ω(G)$ denote the minimum degree and the clique number of a graph $G$, respectively. In [\emph{Electron. J. Combin.} 31(4)(2024) $\#$P4.65], Yuan proved that if $G$ is a 2-connected graph of order $n$, then $c(G)\geq \min\{n,ω(G)+δ(G)\}$ unless $G$ is one of two specific graphs. In this paper, we prove a stability result for the theorem of Erd\H os and Gallai, thereby helping us to characterize all $2$-connected non-hamiltonian graphs whose circumference equals the sum of their clique number and minimum degree. Combining this with Yuan's result, one can deduce that if $G$ is a $2$-connected graph of order $n$, then $c(G)\geq \min\{n,ω(G)+δ(G)+1\}$, unless $G$ belongs to certain specified graph classes.
Commuting graphs of completely 0-simple semigroups
The aim of this paper is to study commuting graphs of completely $0$-simple semigroups, using the characterization of these semigroups as $0$-Rees matrix semigroups over a groups. We establish a method to decide whether the commuting graph of this semigroup construction is connected or not. If it is not connected, we also supply a way to identify the connected components of the commuting graph. We show how to obtain the diameter of the commuting graph (when it is connected) and the diameters of the connected components of the commuting graph (when it is not connected). Moreover, we obtain the clique number and girth of the commuting graph of such a semigroup, as well as two upper bounds (either of which can be the best in different situations) for its chromatic number. We also determine the knit degree of such a semigroup.
Finally, we use the results regarding the properties of the commuting graph of a $0$-Rees matrix semigroup over a group to determine the set of possible values for the diameter, clique number, girth, chromatic number and knit degree of the commuting graph of a completely $0$-simple semigroup.
The Parity-Constrained Four-Peg Tower of Hanoi Problem and Its Associated Graph
We introduce and study a new four-peg variant of the Tower of Hanoi problem under parity constraints. Two pegs are neutral and allow arbitrary disc placements, while the remaining two pegs are restricted to discs of a prescribed parity: one for even-labelled discs and the other for odd-labelled discs. Within this constrained setting, we investigate four canonical optimization objectives according to distinct target configurations and derive for each the exact number of moves required to optimally transfer the discs. We establish a coupled system of recursive relations governing the four optimal move functions and unfold them into higher-order recurrences and explicit closed forms. These formulas exhibit periodic growth patterns and reveal that all solutions grow exponentially, but at a significantly slower rate than the classical three-peg case. In particular, each optimal move sequence has an a half-exponential-like asymptotic order induced by the parity restriction. In addition, we define the associated parity-constrained Hanoi graph, whose vertices represent all feasible states and whose edges represent legal moves. We determine its order, degrees, connectivity, planarity, diameter, Hamiltonicity, clique number, and chromatic properties, and show that it lies strictly between the classical three- and four-peg Hanoi graphs via the inclusion relation.

Let $R$ be a ring with unity. The non-zero divisor graph of $R$, $Φ(R)$, is the graph with vertex set $R\backslash \{0,1,-1\}$, and two vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if either $xy$ or $yx$ is non-zero. In this article we associate $Φ(R)$ to the ring of Hamilton quaternions over $\mathbb Z_{2^n}$, $\mathbb H(\mathbb Z_{2^n})$. The detailed structure of the elements in $\mathbb H(\mathbb Z_{2^n})$ is presented, based on which various structural properties of the graph $Φ(\mathbb H(\mathbb Z_{2^n}))$, such as connectedness, adjacency of vertices, traversability, and planarity, are studied. Furthermore, we derive bounds for clique number and chromatic number.
Asymptotic invariants of symbolic powers of binomial edge ideals
To a graph $G$ one associates the binomial edge ideal $J_G$ generated by a collection of binomials corresponding to the edges of $G$. In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of symbolic powers of $J_G$, its lexicographic initial ideal $\mathrm{in}_<(J_G)$, and its multigraded generic initial ideal $\mathrm{gin}(J_G)$. We focus on the Waldschmidt constant, $\widehatα$, and asymptotic regularity, $\widehat{\mathrm{reg}}$, which capture linear growth of minimal generator degrees and Castelnuovo--Mumford regularity. We explicitly compute $\widehatα(J_G)$ and $\widehatα(\mathrm{in}_<(J_G))$, and compare the Betti numbers of the symbolic powers of $J_G$ and $J_H$, where $H$ is a subgraph of $G$. To analyze $\mathrm{in}_<(J_G)$ and $\mathrm{gin}(J_G)$, we use the symbolic polyhedron, a convex polyhedron that encodes the elements of the symbolic powers of a monomial ideal. We determine its vertices via $G$'s induced connected subgraphs and show that $\widehatα(\mathrm{gin}(J_G))=\widehatα(I_G)$, where $I_G$ is the edge ideal of $G$. This yields an alternate proof of known bounds for $\widehatα(I_G)$ in terms of $G$'s clique number and chromatic number.
Dominating Hadwiger's Conjecture for graphs $G$ with $α(G)=2$
Hadwiger's Conjecture from 1943 states that every graph with chromatic number $t$ contains a $K_t$ minor. Illingworth and Wood [arXiv:2405.14299] introduced the concept of a ``dominating $K_t$ minor'' and asked whether every graph with chromatic number $t$ contains a dominating $K_t$ minor. This question is a substantial strengthening of Hadwiger's Conjecture. Norin referred to it as the ``Dominating Hadwiger's Conjecture'' and believes it is likely false. In this paper we first observe that a $t$-chromatic $G$ on $n$ vertices with independence number $α(G)\le2$ contains a dominating $K_t$ minor if and only if $G$ contains a dominating $K_{\lceil n/2\rceil}$ minor. Building on this and using a deep result of Chudnovsky and Seymour on packing seagulls, we prove that every graph $G$ on $n$ vertices with $α(G)\le 2$ and $2ω(G)\ge \lceil n/2\rceil+1$ satisfies the Dominating Hadwiger's Conjecture, where $ω(G)$ denotes the clique number of $G$. We further prove that every $H$-free graph $G$ with $α(G)\le 2$ satisfies the Dominating Hadwiger's Conjecture, where $H\in\{2K_1+P_4, K_2+2K_2, K_2+(K_1\cup K_3), K_1+(K_1\cup K_5), W_5^<, W_5^-, W_5, K_7^<, K_7^-, K_7\}$, or $H\ne K_2\cup K_3$ is any graph on at most five vertices such that $α(H)\le2$.
Clique number of xor-powers of Kneser graphs
Let $f_\ell(n, k)$ denote the clique number of the xor-product of $\ell$ isomorphic Kneser graphs KG(n,k). Alon and Lubetzky investigated the case of complete graphs as a coding theory problem and showed $f_\ell(n,1)\leq \ell n +1$. Imolay, Kocsis, and Schweitzer proved that $f_2(n,k)\leq n/k +c(k)$.
Here, the order of magnitude of $c(k)$ is determined to be $Θ\left( k \binom{2k}{k} \right)$. By explicit constructions and by an algebraic proof, it is shown that $\ell n- 2\ell-1 \leq f_\ell(n,1)\leq \ell n-\ell+1$ (for all $n \geq 1$ and $\ell\geq 3$). Finally, it is proved that the order of magnitude of $f$ lies between $Ω\left(n^{\left\lfloor \log_2(\ell+1)\right\rfloor}\right)$ and $O\left(n^{\left\lfloor \frac{\ell+1}{2} \right\rfloor} \right)$ (as $\ell$, $k$ are given and $n\to \infty$).
We conjecture that the lower bound gives the correct exponent.

A sequence of graphs $ \{G_k\} $ is a Ramsey sequence if for every positive integer $ k $, the graph $ G_k $ is a proper subgraph of $ G_{k+1} $, and there exists an integer $n > k$ such that every red-blue coloring of $ G_n $ contains a monochromatic copy of $ G_k $. Among the wide range of open problems in Ramsey theory, an interesting open question is ``Does there exist an ascending sequence $\{G_k\}$ with $\lim_{k \to \infty} χ(G_k) = \infty$ and $\lim_{k \to \infty} ω(G_k) \neq \infty$ that is a Ramsey sequence?". In this paper, we solve this problem by constructing a Ramsey sequence $\{G_k\}$ with a bounded clique number such that $\lim_{k \to \infty} χ(G_k) = \infty$. Furthermore, using the observation that any monotonic increasing sequence of graphs that contains a Ramsey sequence as a subgraph is also Ramsey, we can generate infinitely many Ramsey sequences using this example.
Generalized Token Graphs
In this paper we give a new generalization of token graphs. Given two integers $1\leq m \leq k$ and a graph $G$ we define the generalized token graph of the graph $G$, to be the graph $F_k^m(G)$ whose vertices correspond to configurations of $k$ indistinguishable tokens placed at distinct vertices of $G$, where two configurations are adjacent whenever one configuration can be reached from the other by moving $m$ tokens along $m$ edges of $G$. When $m=1$, the usual token graph $F_k(G)$ is recovered.
We give sufficient and necessary conditions on the graph $G$ for $F_2^2(G)$ to be connected and
we give sufficient and necessary conditions on the graph $G$ for $F_2^2(G)$ to be bipartite.
We also analyze some properties of generalized token graphs, such as clique number, chromatic number, independence number and domination number. Finally, we conclude with an analysis of the automorphism group of the generalized token graph.

A paraglider, house, 4-wheel, is the graph that consists of a cycle $C_4$ plus an additional vertex adjacent to three vertices, two adjacent vertices, all the vertices of the $C_4$, respectively. For a graph $G$, let $χ(G)$, $ω(G)$ denote the chromatic number, the clique number of $G$, respectively. Gerards and Seymour from 1995 conjectured that every graph $G$ has an odd $K_{χ(G)}$ minor. In this paper, based on the description of graph structure, it is shown that every graph $G$ with independence number two satisfies the conjecture if one of the following is true: $χ(G) \leq 2ω(G)$ when $n $ is even, $χ(G) \leq 9ω(G)/5$ when $n$ is odd, $G$ is a quasi-line graph, $G$ is $H$-free for some induced subgraph $H$ of paraglider, house or $W_4$. Moreover, we derive an optimal linear $χ$-binding function for {3$K_1$, paraglider}-free graph $G$ that $χ(G)\leq \max\{ω(G)+3, 2ω(G)-2\}$, which improves the previous result, $χ(G)\leq 2ω(G)$, due to Choudum, Karthick and Shalu in 2008.
Prime Order Element Graph of a Group -- II
In this sequel paper, we continue the analysis of the prime order element graph $Γ(G)$ of a finite group $G$, where vertices are elements of $G$ and edges connect distinct elements $x, y$ satisfying $\circ(xy) = p$ for some prime $p$. Our investigation focuses on the adjacency and Laplacian spectra, planarity, and clique number of this graph. We conclude by outlining open issues and potential directions for future investigations.
Solution to some conjectures on mobile position problems
The general position problem for graphs asks for the largest number of vertices in a subset $S \subseteq V(G)$ of a graph $G$ such that for any $u,v \in S$ and any shortest $u,v$-path $P$ we have $S \cap V(P) = \{ u,v\} $, whereas the mutual visibility problem requires only that for any $u,v \in S$ there exists a shortest $u,v$-path with $S \cap V(P) = \{ u,v\} $. In the mobile versions of these problems, robots must move through the network in general position/mutual visibility such that every vertex is visited by a robot. This paper solves some open problems from the literature. We quantify the effect of adding the restriction that every robot can visit every vertex (the so-called \emph{completely mobile} variants), prove a bound on both mobile numbers in terms of the clique number, and find the mobile mutual visibility number of line graphs of complete graphs, strong grids and Cartesian grids.

Let \( G \) be a graph with order \( n(G) \geq 5 \), local metric dimension \( \dim_l(G) \), and clique number \( ω(G) \). In this paper, we investigate the local metric dimension of \( K_5 \)-free graphs and prove that \( \dim_l(G) \leq \lfloor\frac{2}{3}n(G)\rfloor \) when \( ω(G) = 4 \). As a consequence of this finding, along with previous publications, we establish that if \( G \) is a \( K_5 \)-free graph, then \( \dim_l(G) \leq \lfloor\frac{2}{5}n(G)\rfloor \) when \( ω(G) = 2 \), \( \dim_l(G) \leq \lfloor\frac{1}{2}n(G)\rfloor \) when \( ω(G) = 3 \), and \( \dim_l(G) \leq \lfloor\frac{2}{3}n(G)\rfloor \) when \( ω(G) = 4 \). Notably, these bounds are sharp for planar graphs. These results for graphs with a clique number less than or equal to 4 provide a positive answer to the conjecture stating that if \( n(G) \geq ω(G) + 1 \geq 4 \), then \( \dim_l(G) \leq \left( \frac{ω(G) - 2}{ω(G) - 1} \right)n(G) \).
Intertwining local (adjacency) metric dimension with the clique number of a graph
Let $G$ be a simple connected graph with order $ n(G)$, local metric dimension $ {\rm dim}_l(G)$, local adjacency metric dimension $ {\rm dim}_{A,l}(G)$, and clique number $ ω(G)$, where $G\not\cong K_{n(G)}$ and $ω(G)\geq3$. It is proved that $ {\rm dim}_{A,l}(G) \leq \left\lfloor \left(\frac{ω(G) - 2}{ω(G) - 1}\right)n(G)\right\rfloor$. Consequently, the conjecture asserting that the latter expression is an upper bound for ${\rm dim}_l(G)$ is confirmed. It is important to note that there are infinitely many graphs that satisfy the equalities.
$(Δ-1)$-dicolouring of digraphs
In 1977, Borodin and Kostochka conjectured that every graph with maximum degree $Δ\geq 9$ is $(Δ-1)$-colourable, unless it contains a clique of size $Δ$. In 1999, Reed confirmed the conjecture when $Δ\geq 10^{14}$.
We propose different generalisations of this conjecture for digraphs, and prove the analogue of Reed's result for each of them. The chromatic number and clique number are replaced respectively by the dichromatic number and the biclique number of digraphs. If $D$ is a digraph such that $\min(\tildeΔ(D),Δ^+(D)) = Δ\geq 9$, we conjecture that $D$ has dichromatic number at most $Δ-1$, unless either (i) $D$ contains a biclique of size $Δ$, or (ii) $D$ contains a biclique $K$ of size $Δ-2$, a directed $3$-cycle $\vec{C_3}$ disjoint from $K$, and all possible arcs in both directions between $\vec{C_3}$ and $K$. If true, this implies the conjecture of Borodin and Kostochka. We prove it when $Δ$ is large enough, thereby generalising the result of Reed.
We finally give a sufficient condition for a digraph $D$ to have dichromatic number at most $Δ_{\min}(D)-1$, assuming that $Δ_{\min}(D)$ is large enough. In particular, this holds when the underlying graph of $D$ has no clique of size $Δ_{\min}(D)$, thus yielding a third independent generalisation of Reed's result. We further give a hardness result witnessing that our sufficient condition is best possible.
To obtain these new upper bounds on the dichromatic number, we prove a dense decomposition lemma for digraphs having large maximum degree, which generalises to the directed setting the so-called dense decomposition of graphs due to Molloy and Reed. We believe this may be of independent interest, especially as a tool in various applications.
The Fractional Haemers Bound of The Mycielski Construction

We investigate the effect of the generalized Mycielski construction $M_r(G)$ on the complementary fractional Haemers bound $\bar{\mathcal{H}}_f(G; \mathbb{F})$, a parameter that depends on a graph $G$ and a field $\mathbb{F}$. The effect of the Mycielski construction on graph parameters has already been studied for the fractional chromatic number $χ_f$ and the complementary Lovász theta number $\bar{\vartheta}$. Larsen, Propp, and Ullman provided a formula for $ χ_f(M_2(G)) $ in terms of $χ_f(G)$. This was later generalized by Tardif to $ χ_f(M_r(G)) $ for any $r$, and Simonyi and the author gave a similar expression for $ \bar{\vartheta}(M_2(G)) $ in terms of $\bar{\vartheta}(G)$. In this paper, we show that Tardif's formula for the fractional chromatic number remains valid for $ \bar{\mathcal{H}}_f $ whenever $ \bar{\mathcal{H}}_f(G; \mathbb{F})$ equals the clique number of $G$. In particular, we provide a general upper bound on $\bar{\mathcal{H}}_f(M_r(G); \mathbb{F})$ in terms of $\bar{\mathcal{H}}_f(G;\mathbb{F})$ and we prove that this bound is tight whenever $ \bar{\mathcal{H}}_f(G; \mathbb{F})$ equals the clique number of $G$.
Counter-example to Conjectures on Complemented Zero-Divisor Graphs of Semigroups

In this paper, we are motivated by two conjectures proposed by C. Bender et al.\ in 2024, which have remained open questions. The first conjecture states that if the complemented zero-divisor graph \( G(S) \) of a commutative semigroup \( S \) with a zero element has the clique number three or greater, then the reduced graph \( G_r(S) \) is isomorphic to the graph \( G(\mathcal{P}(n)) \). The second conjecture asserts that if \( G(S) \) is a complemented zero-divisor graph with the clique number three or greater, then \( G(S) \) is uniquely complemented.
In this work, we construct a commutative semigroup \( S \) with a zero element that serves as a counter-example to both conjectures.
A Note on Reconfiguration Graphs of Cliques

In a reconfiguration setting, each clique of a graph $G$ is viewed as a set of tokens placed on vertices of $G$ such that no vertex has more than one token and any two tokens are adjacent. Three well-known reconfiguration rules have been studied in the literature: Token Jumping ($\mathsf{TJ}$), Token Sliding ($\mathsf{TS}$), and Token Addition/Removal ($\mathsf{TAR}$). Given a graph $G$ and a reconfiguration rule $\mathsf{R} \in \{\mathsf{TS}, \mathsf{TJ}, \mathsf{TAR}\}$, a reconfiguration graph of $k$-cliques of $G$, denoted by $\mathsf{R}_k(G)$, is the graph whose vertices are cliques of $G$ of size $k$ and two vertices are adjacent if one can be obtained from the other by applying $\mathsf{R}$ exactly once. In this paper, we initiate the study of structural properties of reconfiguration graphs of cliques, proving several interesting results primarily under $\mathsf{TS}$ and $\mathsf{TJ}$ rules. In particular, we establish a formula relating the clique number of $G$ and that of $\mathsf{TS}_k(G)$, and bound the chromatic number of $\mathsf{TS}_k(G)$ via that of an appropriate Johnson graph. Additionally, we present an algorithm to construct $\mathsf{TS}_{ω(G)-1}(G)$ from $\mathsf{TJ}_{ω(G)}(G)$ and derive structural properties of $\mathsf{TJ}_{ω(G)}(G)$ graphs, where $ω(G)$ denotes the clique number of $G$. Finally, we show that $\mathsf{TS}_k(G)$ is planar whenever $G$ is planar and establish bounds on the number of $3$- and $4$-cliques based on results concerning $\mathsf{TS}_k(G)$ graphs. In particular, we prove that any planar graph $G$ with $n$ vertices can contain at most $3n - 8$ triangles, which aligns with the classical bound on maximal planar graphs.
