The chain replacement of a poset flow
We introduce the chain replacement of a poset flow: it is obtained by considering the simplicial nerves of the posets of strictly increasing chains in the given poset, ordered by refinement. It maps finite posets to q-cofibrant flows and inclusions of finite posets to q-cofibrations. Using the combinatorial properties of the chain replacement, we prove that pushouts along the chain replacement of an order-reflecting inclusion of finite posets preserve spaces of execution paths. By introducing the Hurewicz model structure on flows (or H-model structure), we deduce the same property for any q-cofibrant replacement of an order-reflecting inclusion of finite posets.

Magnitude homology of tope graphs
We completely determine the magnitude homology of tope graphs of real hyperplane arrangements. Their ranks can be described as the Hilbert functions of the Stanley--Reisner rings of certain simplicial complexes naturally associated with the arrangements. For Coxeter arrangements, this gives a computation of the magnitude homology of the Cayley graph of the corresponding Coxeter group. We also prove the homological reciprocity for central arrangements conjectured by Koizumi--Liu. The proof combines poset combinatorics, the Edelman--Walker theorem, and Alexander duality.
Network Realignment Complexes over General Graphs
Network realignment complexes were introduced by Kozlov. We generalise their definition to arbitrary connected base graphs. For a connected graph $G$, we characterise the connected components of the associated network realignment complex $X_G$ and show that $X_G$ admits an $\operatorname{Aut}(G)$-equivariant strong deformation retraction onto the disjoint union of a complete graph and a discrete $\operatorname{Aut}(G)$-space. For the complete base graph $K_n$, we study the metric structure of the network realignment graph $\mathcal{G}_n$ and obtain explicit upper and lower bounds for its diameter. Finally, we prove that $X_n$ is a cubical flag complex and that every automorphism of $X_n$ is induced by a relabelling of the underlying vertex set. In particular, $\operatorname{Aut}(X_n)\cong S_n$ for all $n\geq 5$.

On the Gap Between the Co-Indices of a Free Z_2-Space and Its Suspension
For a free $\mathbb{Z}_2$-space $X$, the co-index $\mathrm{coind}(X)$ is the largest integer $m$ for which there exists a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-equivariant map $S^m \to X$, where $S^m$ carries the antipodal action. Since suspension sends such a map to a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-equivariant map $S^{m+1}\to S(X),$ one always has $$\mathrm{coind}(S(X)) \geq \mathrm{coind}(X)+1.$$ We prove that the excess over this lower bound can be arbitrarily large. More precisely, for every $n \geq 2$, we construct a finite free $n$-dimensional simplicial $\mathbb{Z}_2$-complex $\mathcal{K}$ such that $\mathrm{coind}(\mathcal{K})=1$ and $\mathrm{coind}(S(\mathcal{K}))=n+1$. This answers a question of Simonyi, Tardos, and Vrécica on the possible growth of co-index under suspension and, equivalently, shows that the co-index lower bound on the chromatic number of a graph $G$ obtained from $B_0(G)$ can exceed the corresponding bound obtained from the box complex $B(G)$ by an arbitrarily large amount.
Cone and constrained colorful Carathéodory Theorems
Holmsen proved in 2016 a generalization of the classical colorful Caratheodory theorem in which a matroid imposes additional constraints on the desired colorful transversal. His approach also works in the more general setting of oriented matroids, rather than relying directly on convex hulls. In this paper, we extend these ideas in several directions. First, we study which colorful Caratheodory-type results remain valid when convex cones replace convex hulls, as well as analogous modifications in the oriented matroid setting. Second, we consider variants in which the additional constraint on the transversal is not encoded by a matroid. This leads to new extensions of the classical Tverberg theorem. Our approach is topological, following the methods of Holmsen, and Kalai and Meshulam, on which it builds. The key idea is to analyze homology groups of simplicial complexes that encode colorful Caratheodory-type phenomena, such as the support complex of an oriented matroid. In particular, one shows that these complexes are (near-)d-Leray. We extend this analysis by carrying out more detailed homology computations for these complexes, with the aim of enabling further and more refined applications of the method.

Lower Bounds for Approximating the Vietoris-Rips Filtration
The Vietoris-Rips filtration $\mathcal{VR}(-)$ is a standard tool for analyzing the shape of data within topological data analysis. Beginning with seminal work of Sheehy, a substantial amount of research has centered on constructing linear-size sparse approximations to $\mathcal{VR}(-)$ and related filtrations for metric spaces of bounded doubling dimension. We show that this geometric assumption is necessary in a precise sense. Working in the framework of homotopy interleavings, we show that for any fixed $c \in [1, \sqrt{2})$, there exists a family of finite metric spaces for which any finitely presented $c$-approximation to $\mathcal{VR}(-)$ has exponential size. We also show that for any fixed $c \geq 1$, there exists a family of finite metric spaces for which any finitely presented $c$-approximation to $\mathcal{VR}(-)$ has superlinear size, yielding an obstruction to linear-size approximations for any fixed approximation factor. Both results extend to the intrinsic Čech filtration and to any bifiltration containing $\mathcal{VR}(-)$ as a $1$-parameter slice, including the function-Rips, degree-Rips, and subdivision-Rips bifiltrations.

Polarised noncrossing partititions and the coherent self-dual $ω$-equivalence
We construct an acyclic augmented chain complex of abelian groups whose entry in degree $n > 0$ is free on the set of noncrossing partitions of degree $n-1$ equipped with a $\{0, 1\}$-labelling of their gaps. The definition of the differential in this complex is related, via a restricted Leibniz rule, to the gap-insertion operad of Ebrahimi-Fard, Foissy, Kock, and Patras. We conjecture that this augmented chain complex is the linearisation of a polygraph presenting a self-dual model of the coherent walking $ω$-equivalence constructed by the author, Loubaton, Ozornova, and Rovelli, and provide evidence for this conjecture.
On a complete characterization of path-free complexes associated with complete multipartite graphs
Let $G$ be a graph and let $\PF_t(G)$ denote the simplicial complex whose faces are vertex subsets whose induced subgraphs contain no path on $t$ vertices. These complexes encode a forbidden-subgraph condition as a family of allowed vertex subsets. In this paper, we study $t$-path-free complexes of complete multipartite graphs. Let \[ G=K_{n_1,\dots,n_m}, \qquad n_1\le\cdots\le n_m. \] We first obtain an explicit structural decomposition of $\PF_t(G)$ as a union of join complexes, together with an additional lower-dimensional size-truncation term. Using this decomposition, we show that for $t\le 2n_{m-1}-2$ the complex $\PF_t(G)$ is not sequentially Cohen-Macaulay, while for $t\ge 2 n_{m-1}-1$ it is vertex decomposable. Consequently, we obtain a complete characterization for complete multipartite graphs: $\PF_t(G)$ is vertex decomposable if and only if $t\ge 2n_{m-1}-1$. Equivalently, this is also exactly the range in which $\PF_t(G)$ is shellable and sequentially Cohen-Macaulay. We further analyze the topology via a Mayer-Vietoris spectral sequence: for complete bipartite graphs, we determine the full homotopy type as an explicit wedge of spheres in all cases.

Discrete homotopy groups of cubical sets
We extend the notion of discrete homotopy groups of graphs to arbitrary cubical sets, and show that the discrete homotopy groups of quasisymmetric cubical sets are naturally isomorphic to the homotopy groups of their geometric realizations. Here, quasisymmetric cubical sets are cubical sets equipped with coordinate permutation symmetries that are compatible with faces and degeneracies, but not necessarily with connections. We give a purely combinatorial construction of the left adjoint of the forgetful functor from the category of quasisymmetric cubical sets to the category of cubical sets, and prove that the unit of this adjunction is an objectwise weak equivalence. As a consequence, we obtain a purely combinatorial description of the homotopy groups of the geometric realizations of arbitrary cubical sets. As an application, we establish the Hurewicz theorem for the discrete homotopy groups of quasisymmetric cubical sets.

Avalanche homology of digraphs via sandpile dynamics
We introduce avalanche homology as a new (di)graph homology theory, based on the dynamics of the sandpile model. Avalanche homology is the simplicial homology of the avalanche complex generated from the sets of unstable vertices at the time steps of the sandpile dynamics. In this work we focus on digraphs, and our main results give the homotopy types of the avalanche complex for directed paths and directed cycles for certain initial configurations of the sandpile dynamics. Even for such simple digraphs a wide range of topologies can arise, and we compare this to the directed flag complex and to the recently introduced burning homology. Furthermore, the dynamics yields very naturally a filtered simplicial complex, and hence persistent avalanche homology.

Transfer systems give matroids only for cyclic $p$-groups
Transfer systems as studied in equivariant algebra admit minimal generating sets, analogous to bases in linear algebra. It is natural to wonder if minimal generating sets form a matroid. We show that this happens only for lattices which are linear orders, or for cyclic groups of prime power order. In this case, we compute some invariants of the resulting matroid.

Non-asphericity of strata of genus-one differentials and stability spaces
We show that when the number of zeros or poles is at least four, every connected component of the strata of differentials in genus one with prescribed zero and pole orders is not an orbifold $K(π,1)$. For quadratic differentials, this provides infinitely many counterexamples to a conjecture attributed to Kontsevich, as well as to a folklore conjecture concerning the contractibility of spaces of Bridgeland stability conditions.
Homology of Vietoris-Rips complexes of hypercube graphs via group actions
The Vietoris-Rips complex of a metric space is the simplicial complex whose faces are the subsets of points with pairwise distance bounded above by a given scale $r$. In this paper, we study Vietoris-Rips complexes on the vertex set of the $n$-dimensional hypercube equipped with the Hamming distance. These complexes are stable under the action of the automorphism group of the hypercube graph, also known as the hyperoctahedral group, which therefore acts on their homology groups. Our results completely describe the decomposition of these homology groups into irreducible representations of the hyperoctahedral group at scales $r\leqslant 3$ and $r=n-1$.

Filtered order complexes and magnitude homology of finite graded posets
In this paper, we study the family of subcomplexes of the order complexes of finite graded posets, defined via its rank function. We address three main topics. (1) We describe the general topological properties of these subcomplexes in relation to magnitude homology of graded posets. (2) For posets whose order complexes are simplicial subdivisions of closed manifolds, we show that the homology groups of these subcomplexes agree with that of the undelying manifold except for the top dimension, where it is a nontrivial free abelian group. (3) For shellable graded posets, we prove that each of the subcomplexes are also shellable. Moreover, in the case of geometric semilattices, we show that each subcomplexes are homotopy equivalent to a nontrivial wedge sums of spheres of the same dimension.

Collapsibility in Multiparametric Models of Random Simplicial Complexes
We study collapsibility in the multiparametric models of random simplicial complexes, namely the lower and upper models. In the upper model, we improve upon a result of Farber and Nowik, and assert that the homology is a.a.s concentrated in a single dimension by proving that the complex collapses to that \di. In the lower model, we prove that the complex a.a.s collapses to the \di\ with maximal non-trivial cohomology. We then compare this threshold to the ones derived previously for the special cases of the clique complex (by Kahle) and the Linial-Meshulam model.

Computing stable homology representations of graph configuration spaces
Configuration spaces of graphs frequently grow factorially in complexity with the number of particles they parametrize. However, for suitable families of nested graphs $G_\bullet$ with compatible symmetric group actions, Ramos and White prove that, for fixed $k$, the rational homology of the $k$\textsuperscript{th} configuration spaces of $G_\bullet$ has multiplicity stability. In the current work, we derive the stable range and use computer algebra to determine the stable representations on homology for $k=2$ and $G_\bullet$ several families of graphs, including the complete graphs, the complete bipartite graphs on $2n$ vertices, the crown graphs on $2n$ vertices, and the complete tripartite graphs on $2n+1$ vertices. We determine the stable multiplicities for certain irreducible components in the case $k=3$ and $G_\bullet$ the complete graphs.

Chamber Decompositions of Moment Polytopes for Torus Actions of Positive Complexity
The present work develops the results of the series of papers by Buchstaber and Terzić on the standard actions of the compact torus $T^n = (S^1)^n$ on the complex Grassmann manifolds $G_{n,2}$. In those works, a hyperplane arrangement in $\mathbb{R}^n$ was introduced that determines the chamber decomposition of the hypersimplex $Δ_{n,2}$ for the $T^n$-action on $G_{n,2}$. We introduce a notion of admissible graph for the standard action of the torus $T^n$ on the complex Grassmannian $G_{n,2}$. In terms of admissible graphs, we give a complete inductive description (with respect to $n \ge 4$) of the admissible polytopes in $Δ_{n,2}$, as well as of the toric varieties arising as closures of $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n$-orbits on $G_{n,2}$ under the standard $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n$-action. We consider the $T^n$-equivariant Plücker embedding $G_{n,2} \hookrightarrow \mathbb{C}P^{N_2}$, where $N_2 = \binom{n}{2}-1$. Using admissible graphs, for the considered $T^n$-actions, we describe hyperplane arrangements in $\mathbb{R}^n$ that determine the chambers in $Δ_{n,2}$ for the $T^n$-actions on $G_{n,2}$ and $\mathbb{C}P^{N_2}$. Gel'fand, Kapranov, and Zelevinsky introduced the notions of secondary polytopes and secondary fans in connection with the problem of describing triangulations of a given convex polytope, which is closely related to the Newton polytopes of discriminants and resultants. For the $T^n$-action on $\mathbb{C}P^{N_2}$, we show that the cones in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with vertex at the origin spanned by the chambers form the secondary fan of the cone spanned by the vertices of $Δ_{n,2}$.

A Complete Classification of 2-Linear Neighborhood Complexes
The neighborhood complex $N(G)$ and the dominance complex $D(G)$ are fundamental simplicial complexes associated with a graph $G$. We characterize precisely when the Stanley-Reisner ring $k[N(G)]$ admits a $2$-linear resolution, thereby answering an open question posed by Fröberg. We prove that this occurs if and only if $G$ is neighborhood conformal and its common neighbor graph is chordal. Equivalently, $G$ is a bipartite graph whose only induced cycles are $4$-cycles. As a consequence, we show that Katzman's lower bound becomes an equality for this class, yielding $\operatorname{reg}(S/I(G))=\operatorname{im}(G)$. Using recent results on glued clique complexes, we derive explicit combinatorial formulas for the exact graded Betti numbers of these neighborhood complexes. Finally, utilizing combinatorial Alexander duality, we obtain a corresponding classification of Cohen-Macaulay dominance complexes, and prove that the dominance complex of a graph without isolated vertices admits a $2$-linear resolution if and only if the graph is a star graph.

Modular inequalities and Alexander polynomials of pencil type conic-line arrangements
We use recent results, among which modular inequalities for curves, to determine the Alexander polynomials for some classes of pencil-type conic-line arrangements. For these classes of curves we prove that the Alexander polynomial is (at least partially) combinatorial. To this end, we exemplify new techniques that are suitable for broader use, lending themselves to more general classes of curves.

Combinatorics of Inflection Points of Plane Curve Shadows
We study the minimum number of inflection points among generic immersed closed plane curves with a fixed embedded shadow. The word immersed is essential: a genuinely embedded Jordan curve has inflection minimum zero. For tree-like shadows, inflection criterion converts inflection-free realizability into a finite coorientation problem on the building polygons of the shadow. We sharpen this viewpoint into an exact finite formula for the minimum number of normalized inflections and record a dynamic-programming computation on the block tree. We then push the method beyond the tree-like case. For every embedded shadow the same coorientation model gives a universal lower bound. For a natural larger class, called tree--necklace shadows, in which the non-tree-like blocks are separated annular cycles, the lower bound is exact after imposing an explicit $\mathbb Z_2$ holonomy condition around each necklace. We also record the algorithmic status of the exact minimization problem and formulate a likely NP-hardness problem for unrestricted shadows. Finally, we introduce a related invariant: the minimum possible least multiplicity of the Gauss map, equivalently the smallest guaranteed number of oriented parallel tangencies. This ``parallel-tangent load'' is controlled by the same inflection folds but is not determined by their number alone.
